(Early Authors Note: Greetings and hello everyone! TaleBearer42Day is my name, and telling tales is my game! Now, this story won't have a prologue (I honestly couldn't think of one for this particular tale), but I'll still try and make it good for you guys! See, I just stumbled upon this certain ship by accident and since then I've actually really liked it. So, I thought 'why not make my own take on it?' and I did. It's not really following the anime (or manga) in any way, shape, or form. It's just a collection of short chapters that'll build up then actually bring about the romance. I'm not sure if people already gave this ship a name yet, so I'm calling it 'Green Ghost' (which, funnily enough, can be called GG for short). Anyways, I hope you all enjoy and like it!)

Izuku midoriya was having a little crisis at the moment. And even then, it shouldn't be as much of a difficult problem as he's making it to be.

You see, Reiko Yanagi's birthday is coming up, and Midoriya (being the kind and helpful soul that he is) felt that he had to give not just any random thing that could be called a present. No, he had to give something that would not only bring a smile to Reiko's usually emotionless face, but also something that speaks to who she is. That being a girl who likes creepy things.

It all started a few days ago…

Flashback

"Hey, you guys. My birthday is coming up and I was just wondering if you'd all like to go. I mean, you don't have to, but… it'd be nice…" said the voice of Reiko Yanagi. She was a student at UA and a member of class 1B, (Monoma-proclaimed) 'rivals' of class 1A. Of course, after the class vs class event that they had, they grew to be good friends.

Of course, one downside is that they have to still listen to Monoma's rants about whatever, but still, things are pretty good. And they also get invited to birthdays with cake! At least, that's Mina's take on it.

And with February 11th nearing, everyone is getting ready for the party. Proper clothes ought to be worn, good presents must be brought, things just have to go right. Besides, who likes a ruined (if not just awkward) party?

Unfortunately, one hero was struggling.

Flashback end

And that's how we got here. Only a day before the party and Midoriya has everything except for a present. "Come on… come on… think! What would Yanagi like… what would a girl who likes gh-I got it!" Midoriya said before speeding to his desk and getting paper and pencil. After some time, he held up his drawing in triumph and carefully put it in an envelope with spooky stamps and stickers. With that, Midoriya put everything he would need for the party and promptly fell asleep.

Meanwhile...

Reiko finished setting up the last of the decorations at her house and wandered around to make sure everything was right.

"Hmm… I hope Monoma and Bakugo remembered to tell everyone what they should wear."

Truth be told, they didn't. The only person who knew what Reiko hoped they would wear was Midoriya. And even then, he didn't actually know, he just thought it would be nice for Reiko.

It was finally time for Reiko's party. With foodstuffs in one hand and the present in the other, Midoriya sped off to Reiko's house. Being February, it was still a little cold in the evenings, but luckily her house wasn't really far. He soon made it, and saw that lights and music were already on.

"Oh man! I'm late?!" he said as he hurried to the door. He straightened himself and reached for the doorbell, but the door already opened to reveal Reiko in a ghost costume. After seeing Midoriya she gave a small smile and said "Hey, you made it. And you even put on a costume. I'm glad someone did… but please, come in. I'll take the snacks to the table."

After entering, Midoriya looked and saw everyone else (in completely normal clothes). After looking at him, Ida sped over and said "Midoriya?! How ever did you know of Reiko's wish for costumes!? You could have told us, and we could all have a blast!"

Izuku just looked sheepish and tried to say something, but Reiko stepped in and said "I told Monoma and Bakugo to tell the rest of you. Midoriya didn't even know about what I wanted, he just did it." With this, all heads in the room turned to Monoma and Bakugo. Bakugo just shrugged it off and said he forgot. Monoma however, just kept running his mouth. "Well, I tried to tell them, but nobody listened to me! Honestly Reiko, why dress up anyways when we could do that for-" but never finished before being knocked out by Kendo.

After a nervous clearing of the throat by Reiko, the party was back on. As everyone was chatting or eating or sitting down and watching a horror movie playing, Izuku was just sitting by the food table. There are still times when he feels a little too nervous about mingling with so many people so he just sat here and watched. As he sat and watched the movie from a distance, Ochako came to sit beside him.

Only for Reiko to beat her to the seat.

"Hey. Not enjoying yourself?" Reiko asked Izuku (who actually jumped a little from surprise).

Izuku just rubbed the back of his head and said "W-well, it's just–I mean… I guess I'm just a little socially awkward still. I mean, our classes did fight against each other one time. Hehe… sorry if I'm not mingling as much as you'd like."

To this, Reiko just shook her head and put a hand on Izuku's shoulder (causing him to jump just a little) and replied "It doesn't matter. I mean, I'm not really doing all that either so… guess I'm in the same boat as you. And besides, you're the only one who actually dressed up. And… if I'm being honest… I love ghosts, so… thank you, Midoriya."

"S-s-so CLOSE!" Midoriya thought as Reiko had leaned in to say what she said.

Ochako (who had been in the background the whole time) just frowned but then put on a smile as Mina called her towards the bobbing-for-apples game. "She's just glad Deku's here. Yeah, that's it! Nothing more, nothing less!" she thought in her head.

Time passed and soon it was present-opening time!

"WAIT! It's a rule to open presents after cake!" Kaminari yelled.

Unfortunately, I said that now is-

"And I said that you have to eat cake FIRST! Presents can come after. The only reason you refuse is because it's an unspoken rule. So of course you wouldn't hear of it."

*SIGH* Fine

Now the time came for cake, afterwards would finally come the presents.

"Jeez, it's not that hard to write…"

Do you want me to take you off the story?

"No…"

Hmph. As I thought.

Anyways, as everyone gathered around the table, Monoma came in through the kitchen proudly carrying the cake, a stupid (but to him, 'cool') smile on his face. And of course, he went and bragged. "Behold a superior cake befitting that of 1B! You think you can do better? HA! I'd like to see you tr-" luckily Kendo was there to knock him out again (while also setting down the cake).

It was a rather nice cake too. The whole thing was coated with black frosting to give the white-frosted ghosts a real pop. Frosted jack-o-lanterns were all along the sides of the cake, while purple-frosted bats flew about. It looked delicious (if the drooling done by some of the classmates meant anything), so everyone grabbed a slice and chowed down. As everyone ate their fill (it was a rather large cake, after all) and continued watching some movies and such, everyone ran to the TV when Kirishima let out an angry yell.

"What is it?!" Mineta yelled.

"Look at this! This… this abomination! It's an utter travesty! Absolutely nothing is manly about it!" Kirishima said as he looked at the screen. Everyone also looked and saw that the movie had ended but on the top of the 'new releases' bar there was 'The Rings of Power'. A lot of the students scowled like Kirishima while others didn't really see what the big deal was. That soon prompted both Izuku, Kirishima (and even Ida) to go into a rant about how 'The Rings of Prime' is an utter travesty and disrespectful piece of trash to J.R.R Tolkien and his works. They watched Youtube videos by people such as Just Some Guy and Nerdrotic who revealed how terrible and non-true to the lore the whole show was. After looking them up, a lot of others agreed.

After that little event, the presents finally came.

Bakugo brought nothing and said that him bothering to come at all should be a good-enough present.

Kirishima brought a punching bag that Reiko could use not only for target practice with her quirk, but also to sharpen her martial arts.

All of 1B pulled together to get Reiko a whole caboodle of old and new horror movies, shows, all of it.

Others brought regular things like money or a card, those sorts of things. They couldn't really figure out Reiko as much as 1B did. Some more time passed and everyone started to leave. They bid Reiko goodnight and returned home happy and tired. As Izuku was about to leave, Reiko tugged on his ghost costume and said "Hey, Midoriya? What about your present? If you didn't show it because you thought the others were really good, then I ask that you still show it. After all, you went through some work to get it, I'm sure."

Honestly, Midoriya didn't give his present because he partly forgot and also because of what Reiko had said about the others' presents being better.

"W-well… I just wasn't sure what to get you. So I thought maybe a drawing would be nice? I do hope you like it…" he said as he handed it to Reiko.

It was a sketch of her dressed as Samara from The Ring and himself dressed as Freddy Krueger. Reiko's eyes actually widened a little when she saw how well the whole thing was drawn (not to mention colored in well). She looked up to Midoriya and said "This… this is really amazing Midoriya. And you drew this? I really love Nightmare on Elm Street and The Ring. I'll treasure it always." but just as she said this, the drawing fell right through her hands. She sighed and bent over to get it, but Midoriya got it instead and handed it back.

"Thanks. My quirk has always done that sometimes. I can feel and touch things most of the time, but then I can't feel or touch anything. Almost as if I'm just a ghost…"

Midoriya felt bad and so said "Well, maybe that just means your quirk is evolving and soon you'll be able to pass through things like Kuroiro! You would be even stronger then! So don't let it get you down. Well… I'll be heading out now. Happy birthday, Yanagi."

However, before he fully stepped out the door, Yangai turned him around and held onto his face for a few moments. "Your face is so warm…" she said as if to herself. As she held on (and Midoriya was trying his absolute hardest to not faint), it was soon noticed that her hands were… cold. Surprisingly cold. After about 5 minutes (give or take) of the face-holding, Reiko let go and blushed while saying "Oh… s-sorry about that. I just never really had anyone to 'hold on to' in my life. My quirk is the main one to blame for that. But… being able to feel you made me feel better… happy, even. So thank you, Midoriya. Thank you."

Izuku just nodded and said "A-any time! Goodbye!" and speed-walked away.

(Ending Authors Note: And there it is! Rather short, I admit, but I am still happy with the turnout. Oh, and in case your wondering, I put that Rings of Power stuff in there because I am an avid Tolkien fan and I despise this blatant disrespect to him and his works. If you would like to know more, please look up either Nerdrotic or Just Some Guy (they can both explain better than I could). Now, if some of you who read this have read my other stories, I say again DON'T WORRY. I WILL get to them, I just have other things on my plate. That aside, I hope you all enjoyed it and would like to see more. Please review, follow, favorite and share with others! See ya!)
