Opie grinned when he got a letter back that felt heavier than the last one. His cellmate gave him a glance but went back to his book. Sitting on his bed Opie opened the envelope from Dylan. A picture fell out along with the letter. Holding it up Opie's face broke into a smile. The girl was stunning.

Wavy blonde hair fell around her chest, with chocolate eyes that held amusement. She was average height but fuck, she was toned and curvy. The jeans she had on hugged her hips and legs, while the white t-shirt highlighted her pert breasts. She was leaning against a fence with the sunset behind her. Opie flipped the picture. "Sunset at the ranch. This is for you only, please" in cursive writing. Fuck right this was for him only. He reminded himself the girl was only 19, and being very trusting to even send him this picture. Sliding it under his pillow, he turned to the letter.

Dear Opie,

I hope you like the picture, I had my friend Liz take it as she is going into photography. I figured one like that wasn't too racy and would be ok. I hope you like it. Things here are going alright. Granddad just bought a new horse and Uncle Cody is working on the next cattle sale. That gives me the opportunity to work some numbers and get some experience.

School is going alright, if not boring. My classes don't challenge me right now but I have to take them to graduate, which will hopefully be this summer if I can push through.

I did some research on you, making me feel like a creepy stalker. Stalker aside, it ignited my curiosity and so I did more than I should have…but once I get on something I don't let it go. And nothing I found scares me or turns me off from writing to you. My friend Liz disagrees, thinks I should request a new pen pal. Good thing she gave me that picture before we researched. I say that to say, I want to know you better. Or maybe one day I want to ride a Harley. Either way, you got a pen friend.

I'm sorry about your ex-wife, it must hurt not being able to see your kids. How old are they? I never knew my dad, my mom won't talk about him no matter how much I push. My grandparents and Uncle Cody don't know who he is either. It was hard not knowing him, or if he chose to not be a dad or my mom just never told him. If I could know my dad, I would no matter what he did or who he was. Even if he rejected me, at least then I would know and could make peace with it. My mom went so far as to not put a name on my birth certificate so I can't even find out from that. She must hate him or be ashamed. I write all that to say even if you don't have a relationship with your ex, your kids will appreciate anything you do to reach out and know them.

I hope to hear from you soon!

May the stars light your path and may love settle your heart.

Dylan

Opie breathed hard after reading her letter. Whatever research she did must have been more than his charges, and she hinted she knew about his involvement with the Sons. Her advice about his kids he would take, especially after what she shared. Something told him this Dylan was special and he should keep her around, even in letters.
