Her legs were tiring more and more, day by day as she kept running, her little kit dangling from her jaws, mewing hungrily for the milk she didn't have.
Her journey was incredibly slow, and she hadn't eaten in days, so she was starving. And so was her precious kit. She had hidden in a low, old, hollow tree in a large, dark forest. The air smelled of oak and moss.
But then, she heard a faint pit-pat, like paws pattering on the soft, earthy ground, with a faint crunch of leaves. She froze. Could it be another cat? Or a fox? Or a badger? Her heart pounded through her chest. What if they harm my kit?
Her kit didn't have a name, but she needed protection from anything.
I guess I'll have to fight them.
A pair of yellow eyes flashed into the hollow. Time to fight.
She lept out of the hollow, raking her claws across a dark brown tabby tom. Her kit mewled loudly "Mama! I'm hungry!" She froze.
But though she kept trying to fight, the huger was too much, and the world fell into deep darkness.
She fluttered her eyes open. She was in a mossy, bracken-covered den. "Where's my kit!" She yowled, struggling to move. A pink she-cat slithered through the entrance of the den. "Eat." She meowed, dropping a vole at her paws.
She had no strength to argue. Reluctantly, she gulped up the vole in a few bites.
"What's your name?" The pink cat mewed. Warily, she responded. "Goldy" She rasped. "You?"
The pink she-cat smiled "Heartflight."
"Where's my kit?"
"Don't worry, she's in the nursery with Honeystone and Flowerleap. Would you like to go there?"
Perhaps these cats can be trusted. She thought.
"Yes please,"
She got up from the comfy moss nest and padded after Heartflight.
There, in the shadows of a den, in a feather-lined nest, where the moonlight filtered through the leaves, was her precious kit. "What's her name?" a white she-kit meowed from the shadows of the den.
Goldy pondered this for a long time.
"Her name is Moonkit"
"That's a nice name," The white she-cat mewed, my name is Flowerleap, and these are Mosskit, Stoatkit, and Turquoisekit." She nodded to the kits snuggled up near her belly.
"Welcome to SkyClan!"
