Over the next few months, Haven and Happy fell into a routine. She would visit every two weeks, minimum. She had gotten her two dogs and had sent him many pictures of her cuddling and playing with them. He had questioned the three legged one, but after that made Haven come close to tears, Happy let up.

Haven became a popular teacher at the high school. Chibs still watched out for her, visiting a few times a week just so Haven would cook for him. When Gemma found that out, she showed up at Happy's house. Haven had reluctantly let her in, remembering that Happy told her to be polite. After Gemma interrogated her for an hour, getting little to nothing from Haven, she left in a huff. Haven just wasn't comfortable sharing with Gemma, she didn't trust her.

She called Opie and he showed up with Lyla and the kids, who she hadn't met yet, to cheer her up. It worked and Lyla and Haven connected. She offered to babysit for them and help with homework. Kenny loved her dogs and volunteered to help with them. Ellie thought she was cool and Piper thought she was smart. Why Haven connected with Lyla was not obvious, but they became close quick.

When Thanksgiving came around, Haven spent it with Maria and Happy's Aunt Laurena. She brought Happy back letters from the women and news that they were doing fine and missed him. He again told her to be nice with Gemma, to which Haven rolled her eyes and got a brief lecture from Happy on respect.

It was now two weeks before Christmas and Haven and Lyla were standing in the middle of a specialty art store in Stockton. Haven was gnawing her lower lip as Lyla was getting some things for Ellie. "Ly, what if he doesn't like it? What if he thinks it's weird I got him something? I haven't gotten him something since I was ten. He isn't the gift type of guy. I mean I am not his girlfriend…" Haven rambled.

She hadn't dated anyone since she moved, despite Lyla trying to set her up on a blind date or two. It just didn't feel right, even though she had implied to Happy she wanted to. She did find it annoying that a few single dads got friendly at the last conferences, which she didn't tell Happy about.

"HAVEN!" Lyla almost shouted. Haven snapped her head up at her best friend.

"Haven, you don't look at any other guy. You look like you are on cloud nine after you visit him. He will love it. Chibs and Ope already consider you his girl," Lyla soothed. Haven nodded. Chibs wouldn't let her go into clubhouse without him the few times she did go to T-M to say hi or visit him. She had never been to a party, which she was fine with.

"Ok, ok. You ready?" Haven asked, only somewhat calm. Lyla checked out and the girls walked out to their cars. They had driven separately so Haven could visit Happy. Lyla gave her a hug and peck on the cheek.

"Hae, babe, it will be fine. We checked with Opie and you can give him the gift. He will love it," Haven smiled at her friend. She was glad she had her, she didn't judge her profession and even suggested she make moves to get behind the camera.

"Thanks Ly, give the kiddos a hug for me. Tell Kenny to walk Atticus and that I will help Ellie with her homework tomorrow. Piper and I are still on for a Bill Nye marathon over break," Haven listed off. Lyla nodded pushing Haven to her car.

Happy was pacing his cell. Tig was smirking at the action. Happy always paced the days Haven would visit. He had never seen Happy like this over a woman. A couple times Haven missed because of a severe migraine and Happy had let out a cussing storm. Tig thought he was acting like a whiny bitch and told him, and the two ended up throwing a few punches.

Tig had trouble wrapping his mind around the possibility Happy being a one woman man, even with the run rules. Happy was a hit it and dump it type of guy, a crow eater favorite. Tig himself wasn't ready to give that up. He hadn't seen Haven, but Jax had and said she was gorgeous even if she was tiny. Gorgeous as she might be, she didn't seem to be Happy's type from what Happy had briefly told him.

When Happy saw Haven in the visitor room she looked more nervous that he had seen her since her first visit. She stood in front of him biting what looked like a raw lower lip. He tilted her chin up running his thumb across her lip. Haven smiled at the shivers the touch sent up her spine.

"Hi Happy…Merry Christmas," she whispered. Happy knew the holiday was close and wondered why Haven was so nervous.

"What's up with you?" Happy asked as he led her to the table. Haven stopped him so she could briefly hug him.

"I…uh…. well…" Haven mumbled, suddenly very unsure of herself. What if she read the signals wrong and Happy just wanted to be friends and the gift was rejected? She twisted her fingers and looked down.

"I'm waiting for an answer Haven Magdalene," Happy growled as he watched her body language. He saw her compose herself and look up at him. Her face was determined but her eyes were nervous. That worried Happy slightly and he spoke before her.

"Does this have to do with that crazy bitch?" Haven looked shocked at the question and then laughed.

"No…why…oh…I'm being ridiculous…" Haven gasped out between laughs. Settling herself again, she spoke calmly. "No, I got you a Christmas present. They wouldn't let me bring it in here, said they would deliver it. I haven't gotten you a gift in years…" Haven trailed off, watching Happy's face. He looked slightly surprised.

"Why?" He remembered the last gift she got him, and still had it. It was a coin that had Santa Muerte on it, very fitting for him. Haven shrugged.

"I wanted to, and I figured you are bored as hell in here," Haven said, wrapping her arms around herself. Happy sighed, he didn't want her to feel bad.

"Shorty, you didn't have to, but thank you. What is it?" he asked, his manners coming out only for her. That got Haven to smile and set her hands back on the table.

"Well, you have to wait and open it," Haven said sweetly, giving him a flirtatious grin. Happy shook his head, grinning slightly.

"I have ways of making you tell…" he taunted.

"You don't intimidate me…" she taunted back. He raised an eyebrow at that. Haven gave him her best sultry smile taking his hand. Pulling his hand to her mouth she kissed each fingertip as he shifted blocking her from the guard's view.

Happy suppressed a groan, each little kiss sent a shock to his twitching dick. Titling his hand up, she kissed his palm and Happy bit his tongue…she was flirting boldly and looked like she knew what she was doing to him. She smirked as she set his hand down.

"You might do many things to me but intimidation is not one of them," she finished. Haven had no idea where her boldness came from, but judging by Happy's reaction of controlled calm, she had gotten under his skin.

"Damn it... What are you doing?" he rasped. He had never seen this side of her. Haven smiled and rested her hand on her chin.

"Talking to you. What do you think I am doing?" she replied, dropping her voice a half octave. Happy shook his head, clearing the thoughts of Haven bent over the table before answering.

"Playing with fire…you sure you want to do that?" he asked. Haven shifted, leaning forward to take his hands again. Interlacing their fingers, she bit her lip and ran her tongue slowly over her lower lip before answering. Happy couldn't take his eyes off her mouth.

"Fire creates just as much as it burns. Fire ignites the best and worst parts of us…just be sure you can contain it bear," she replied in the same low voice.

Happy never had a woman speak like that to him. It was sexy, smart, and if she continued he would cum in his pants. He didn't know how to reply to that, so settled for a smirk. The bell rang and they stood. Haven wrapped her arms tight around him and Happy was sure she could feel his erection against her stomach. She did that to him lately, especially when she invaded his thoughts and dreams at night.

Before he could pull back she reached up, cupped his cheeks and pushed onto her toes. The kiss was brief and chaste. Pulling out of the embrace Haven smiled at him, tucking her hair back. Happy stared at her.

"Haven…" he started.

"I wanted my New Year's kiss early," she shrugged, "and no, that isn't your Christmas gift."

"Really?" he sighed. Haven nodded.

"Be good," she replied. Happy turned as the guard came to him.

"You too shorty," Happy said. She had given him a lot to think about. That kiss was unexpected but not unwelcome.

When Happy got back to his cell, he went over in his mind his visit with Haven. He hadn't asked about the dogs, she hadn't talked about school or Opie and Lyla's kids. Everything about the visit was about a Christmas gift and flirting. Happy had conflicting feelings over Haven. He had known her since she was a baby and he was 12 years old.

But now, she was all grown up and beautiful. She was nothing like the women he went for because he didn't care about the women he fucked like he did her. He didn't do relationships and now it felt like he was dangerously close to wanting to be in one. He knew he couldn't just have sex with Haven and then be like he always had been with her. She was throwing out signs she wanted more, but did she really know what she was getting into? Hell, would she move out when he got out? Neither of them had said anything about that.

He ignored Tig and everyone else the rest of the day. The next morning, his gift came. It was in a brown box that looked the like care packages other prisoners got. Tig silently watched him as he turned it over in his hands. Finally opening it, he grinned, a tightness in his chest. He pulled out four moleskin sketchpads and a pencil set. There was also a copy of Catcher in the Rye and Salem's Lot. A note at the bottom simply said, "Thought you missed this. All my love, H." Tig let out a low whistle.

"Your girl is good man," Tig said, somewhat jealous of Happy having someone who knew him so well and cared this much about him. Happy nodded grin still on his face. This was perfect. He hadn't read much Stephen King, but Catcher in the Rye was one of his favorites. Just because he didn't go to college didn't mean he didn't like to read. People didn't talk when they read and he liked that. He would have to thank her.

Haven was finishing up her yoga when her phone went off. Chibs was coming to dinner that night, so she assumed it was him telling her he was going to be late or to reschedule. She was surprised when it was the recording saying she had a call from an inmate.

"Hello?" she asked. Happy chuckled at the confusion in her voice.

"Thank you, shorty," he rasped. They timed the calls and he knew he only had 15 minutes.

"You're welcome Hap. I thought you needed some boredom breakers," Haven replied, glad he liked his gift.

"How are the mutts?" he asked, not wanting to get sentimental or emotional.

"Good. Boo got into your room and up on the bed. Took forever to get him off. Think he already likes you," Haven said with a laugh. Happy shook his head.

"Maybe I just have a comfortable bed. Where are you sleeping?" he asked. He thought she would take the master bedroom. He had liked the thought of her in his bed but had never asked.

"In the guest room that had a bed. I wasn't going to invade your privacy any more than necessary. I feel like you should be invited into someone's bed before taking it," Haven replied. Happy didn't know how to respond to that. He appreciated she respected his space.

"When does break start for you?" he asked. He heard a noise, a huff and a sigh. "Haven?"

"Atticus! No tug right now, go lay down! Needy boy, we play when I'm done," Haven gently scolded. Happy laughed at that. He could show her a needy boy that wanted to play. His thoughts were interrupted by her answer.

"Friday is a half day and then two weeks off, return two days after New Year's Day. Oh, that reminds me. Lyla wanted to know if I could go to the party at the clubhouse for New Year's," Haven said. Happy thought about that. He hadn't told her not to hang around the clubhouse but liked that she didn't. He knew she was getting close with Chibs, Opie, and Lyla. That he was fine with. A party was something else.

"Why are you asking my permission?" he knew the question was a stall but also a way of finding out what she thought of their relationship.

"Because…" Haven started and Happy could tell she was working her way up to something. "Well, Lyla says that Chibs and Opie consider me your girl, meaning an old lady like her. I don't know all of what that means, but I kind of like the sound of it. You have always been there for me and I respect you. I wouldn't want to do something to disrespect you or your club," she finished in a rush.

Her voice was nervous but Happy could hear her sincerity. He wondered about Chibs and Opie thinking she was his old lady. He shook that thought for the moment. Haven was showing him deference and respect. He knew she was as fond of him as he was of her. How deep it went…he shifted as he heard the beep signaling the time was almost up.

"You can go, stick close to Opie and Chibs," he said quickly. He had too many thoughts in his head right now.

"Ok, thank you Happy. I will visit Friday ok? Love you," she said her words so fast Happy almost missed them. He heard the click and silence that ended the call. Had she really said she loved him?

Haven looked at her phone after she hung up. She meant it when she said she loved Happy. She did, ever since she was a kid. But that love was changing and he was not a man to get emotional or sentimental. Shit, shit and shit. She was still staring at her phone went the doorbell went off and the dogs started barking.

Snapping her head up she went to the peephole, looking through. Chibs was early. Opening the door, she wrapped her arms around him tight, just for something to ground her. She inhaled his scent burying her face in the smooth leather of his kutte. Chibs immediately wrapped his arms around her, rubbing her back. Something was wrong but he couldn't figure out what.

"Talk to me Hae," he whispered and pushed her back so he could close the door. Haven remained silent. He tried moving her but she was stronger than she looked. He sighed bending slightly so his arms scooped her up.

He walked to the couch and sat with her in his lap. Since she moved in, he felt she was his responsibility to watch after regardless of the fact Happy told them to. He cared about this girl like another daughter having fostered that type of relationship with her.

She was smart and logical, sweet and caring. He had opened up about his life and she listened without judgment. He never went into too much detail about club business, but she usually figured it out. As he sat there, he rubbed circles on her back until she relaxed. "Talk to me love," he repeated. Haven sighed.

"Happy called to thank me for his Christmas gift," Haven said flatly. Chibs tensed. If Happy didn't like it or was a dick to her, Chibs would be furious.

"He liked it, don't worry Filip, it's…I told him I loved him and then hung up," Haven said in that same flat voice. Chibs nodded his head. Happy was not an emotionally expressive guy, at least on that end of the spectrum.

"Was it the truth ya told him?" he asked. Haven nodded. "Don't need to be ashamed or worried about it then," Chibs said nonchalantly. Haven looked at him.

"Am I his old lady?" she asked. Chibs stroked her cheek, as she leaned back into his chest. She was forever grateful for Chibs and pushed the thought of Happy beating the hell out of him for how they were currently sitting to the back of her mind.

"I can't tell ya if you are his old lady, that's on him," Chibs said. He knew Happy hadn't had an old lady in Charming, and not when he was a Nomad. He doubted he did in Tacoma judging by his reputation among the crow eaters and sweet butts.

Dr. Haven Morgan was a great girl and already acted as if she was Happy's old lady subconsciously. She said she was asking permission to go to the party, didn't look at other guys, and was making sure to take care of Happy's mom. Happy was a fool if he let her go.

"What is an old lady?" Haven asked. She had done endless research on MC's but wanted to hear from a member what an old lady was.

"An official girlfriend or wife of a member. It means she belongs only to that member. He takes on the responsibility of taking care of her. She remains loyal to him and supports him in his role in the club. The club, and members of other charters, consider her family. There are run rules, prison clauses, to work out-" Haven interrupted.

"So, I have to be all about him, but he could fuck someone on the road?" Haven asked in a very pissed off voice. "That is fucking stupid, I refuse to be treated like a piece of goddamned property!" Chibs laughed at her cussing.

"Some old ladies are strict, others aren't. You tell him what your rules are. The prison clause is if he is locked up, you are free to indulge," Chibs explained. Haven nodded.

"Well, loyalty and respect are huge to me. If Happy wants to be my…" Haven didn't know what to call it, "…my man…he can keep it in his pants around the other women. He's too good to share," Haven said, then blushed and quickly stood.

"Not that… I mean…oh hell, what do you want to eat?" she exclaimed. Chibs laughed.

"Make me some of your homemade pizza. Are you a virgin Haven?" he asked. He suspected but wanted confirmation.

Haven just nodded turning red and hustled into the kitchen the dogs on her heels. While she was making the pizza, Chibs also said that old ladies could ask and be informed about club business. Haven nodded, then changed the subject. It was going to be a long wait till Friday when she was planning on visiting Happy.

When Friday came, Haven busted ass to get out of Charming. Since her visit with Chibs, she thought long and hard about what she wanted. She wanted to be with Happy, she wanted to be his old lady. She had definite plans on laying down the law for run rules. As for disclosure, she still had time to think about that. She wasn't as nervous as she thought once she made up her mind.

She would spend his remaining time in prison to make sure she was all he wanted when he got out. He was over halfway in his sentence, they would get out just before school let out. Now that she had a plan, her nerves had gone down. She talked to Lyla about her plan and Lyla said she would support her, even give her some bedroom tips. Haven had glared at her for that comment before deciding that it would be a good idea.
