Seattle FM 101

"Hellloooo Seattle! It's Wolf Man Dave, Arrooo! and Seattle is still kicking! That's right you can't stop the signal, baby! Official casulties are in, no property damage, and only five deaths, all from car accidents. I'm going to be straight with you folks, Japan had me scared, had us all scared. I mean, an entire island sank. Millions of people dead, millions of refugees, it was scary stuff, really scary stuff, and now.. now there's a third one and there are armies of monsters around it."

Radio silence...

"But then it talked, said it would spare our city if we gave it Mr. Rogers. Gave us a week, I think... no I can't speak for you guys but me? Some horrible little part of me thought. Hand him over, if it will save my city, save us then... you know? Yeah it's screwed up people, a real dark moment for me and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone."

An auditable sigh.

"Got to give old Mr. Rogers some credit, he's got brass ones, walked right into the damned Endbringer's lair, told him what for and well got him to surrender. Don't think I would have the courage to do that. So yeah, I watched the surrender, I'm sure most of you have. Watching Mr. Big and scary kneel like that and hand over his sword? Country needed something like that, hell, the world needed something like that. Point is we won one, so yeah... it's big so I'm going to open up the phones for callers, first one?"

A clicking sound.

"Hey Dave, it's Phil, I was in the shelter with my kids during the attack."

"How did they handle it, Phil?"

"We were all scared, we prayed real hard you know? Then when it started asking for Mr. Rogers... well my kids watched that show."

"That must have been hard."

"Yeah, my kids are terrified of the big bad monster and suddenly I think man, it's going to kill their favorite actor, and I tell them that Mr. Rogers is going to be fine you know? And I'm lying because, you know?"

"And then he was fine."

"Yeah.. you get so used to thinking that you need people with super powers to save the day, and this guy just walks right to it and talks a goddamned Endbringer into surrendering... it's... you know?"

"Yeah, we all know the feeling."

"I just feel, like we all prayed for a miracle and well, we got one. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm not going to skip church anymore."

The call ends, another click.

"Next caller."

"Hey um, about the Endbringer, I got some information about it, the PRT's going to leak it anyways but Mr. Big? He's their medic."

"Endbringers have medics?"

"Yeah, the brass is asking him all sorts of questions and a lot of it is classified, but we have confirmed that we have their medic."

"And what does this mean for us?"

"Well Dave, it's big, really big we don't know anything about them. Having one defect, having their medic defect. This is huge, I guess we were due for a Christmas Miracle."

"So it wants to switch sides?"

"Yeah, or at least it's saying so."

"Any idea of where it learned to speak english?"

"Information's pretty scarse, but yeah I do, apparently it learned english from watching television. PBS to be specific, I don't think they're ever going to let any one forget this, well got to go."

click.

"Next caller."

"I don't trust the damned thing."

"The Endbringer?"

"Yeah, we should, you know just kill it."

"Why do you feel that way, um?"

"Todd, I'm an automotive guy, look we can't trust it, I mean it creates freaking monsters, we should just end it, not take the risk, that's all I have to say."

Click.

"Next caller."

"Josh, I heard the last caller, killing the Endbringer would be a warcrime, it would violate the Geneva conventions."

"Last time I checked, the Endbringers don't seem to be following the Geneva conventions."

"That doesn't matter Dave, we're better then that, better then them, and there's practical reasons too."

"And they are?"

"First of all, how do you even kill an Endbringer? We have been trying to do that for close to a decade now, at least this way we know where it is, and what if we get more Endbringers that want to surrender? Remember when we fought the nazis, we didn't kill all of them because we knew it would make the rest of them fight that much harder and make the war last longer."

"And you think we should trust it?"

"I'm not saying that, what I am saying is that we should be rational about this. We have their medic, right now if we do something that actually hurts them, well no one is going to fix them up. I was in the army during 'Nam, and if we didn't have any medics then we would have lost a lot more boys in that war. It's not just about proving that we're better then them, it's about keeping a valuble asset out of enemy hands, you have to think long term about this stuff."

"A good point, next caller?"

"Debbi."

"Hi Debbi, what do you think?"

"I think... america is the land of second chances, if it wants to join our side, well I think we should give it a chance."

"You want to give an Endbringer a chance?"

"Well yeah. Look, what his siblings did was horrible, but really all he's done is scare people and ask for Mr. Rogers. No one died and the city's pretty much untouched."

"How about the five people who died in car accidents?"

"More people die in car accidents in Seattle on an average day, and well we know that it's the Endbringers medic. A healer, heck it's at least willing to listen to reason, and honestly if they have to exist I would rather have one on our side then not."

"And if it's a trick, a lie?"

"America is the land of second chances, not third ones."
