A/N: Haven't been on as much as I wanted to lately. I'm sorry about that. I can't promise that this story thing is great, but I tried on very little sleep.

OOOOOOOOOOO

David rolled his eyes as he walked into Calli's house and heard the random playlist that she was blaring from YouTube. He could smell Chinese food and hairdye in the air and knew that he was walking into a freak out.

"Calli," he called out, peering into the living room and not finding the girl.

"Nothing bad happens after two, it's true!" Calli sang from upstairs, clearly either oblivious to him or not caring that he was there at all.

David rolled his eyes and jumped the stairs, perching on the landing lightly. Light poured out of the master bedroom and he saw the shadows of his girl dancing on the wall. He moved quietly towards the open space, listening to her.

Whoever put her in this mood is going to lose their heads, David thought, already keen on searching her thoughts for the names, the faces, the words that had set her off. And so much worse when we're done playing with them.

Calli had her back turned to him and her hair was pitch black again as she danced in front of the mirror. She had bottles of black dye tossed in the trash can next to her, even in a mood she had to be responsible with bottles that could stain everything. Currently she was working on cutting holes in a shirt like a video she had clearly seen somewhere or was randomly making up in her own head despite her aphantasia, which she recently discovered.

Her black rimmed eyes lifted to the mirror a moment later and her voice dimmed off. "You're here, asshole."

David moved farther into the room and wrapped his arms around her, ignoring the very sharp scissors in her hand. "Of course I am. I'm always around, aren't I, Calli?" He pressed a kiss to her neck and then brought his lips to her ear. "You've been acting up again on the boardwalk…or so little bats have told me."

"The Boys talk too much," Calli muttered, bumping her ass against his groin as if that would knock him away from her. "And I haven't been acting up. Valkyrie has. And let's face it, she doesn't like any of you telling us what to do…or doing her job. Her words, not mine."
David let out a growl. "Valkyrie can't protect you from the monsters like she thinks she can."

"You're talking to the wrong person here, David. Now shoo. I'm working here." Calli shrugged him off and grabbed another article of clothing and started cutting at it.

David snatched her phone off the counter and keyed in her passcode. He smirked. "Looks like someone's been spending big money on her wishlists again."

Calli's brow furrowed. "What?"

The Lost Boy waved the phone in the air. "You ordered half of the products off all of your wishlists, princess, including your very naughty one. And you paid for immediate shipping. Amazon's creator is just going to love you."

Calli dropped her current project and reached for her phone but David kept it out of her reach. "David! Dammit! You asshole! Let me have my phone! There might be time to cancel the order!"

David turned the phone off and shoved it in his pocket. He caught her hands and held her tight. "You're not gong to cancel the order. You wanted the stuff and you're getting the stuff. Plus it was hooked up to someone else's card so don't worry about your own bank account. You'll be fine." He smirked. "We were planning on doing something similar anyway."

Calli growled. "You would not!"

"We would because you're our girl." David held her gaze. "Now. Tell me, why are you freaking out like this? The hair dye, the bad Chinese food, the mutilation of the clothes, and the rest of it. Tell me now because you know I will find out anyway."

Calli glared at him, holding her vampire lover's gaze for longer than he thought her capable of. Tears gathered in her eyes but he saw that they were angry, bitter tears.

"I was touched…and it reminded me of that first time…" Calli said, her voice tight. "I can still remember all of that….and then my neighbor, a girl just a year younger than me came to me and begged me to help her find a way to terminate her pregnancy because she can't take care of a baby that she never intended to have in the first place…it's all too much…it's all too much…"

Calli crumpled against him and he caught her in his arms, holding her close. She smacked her fist against his chest once, twice, and then the tears hit him. The tears hurt him worse because there was nothing that he could do to make that pain go away.

"Calli," David whispered, threading his fingers through her hair and holding her ever closer.

"Take me out for a little bit, David," Calli whispered against his chest. "I won't let Valkyrie act up around you."

David nodded and pulled her away from the bathroom…

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

David heard comments throughout the night about the yin-yang couple, the dark-light pair as he and Calli walked among various crowds. Calli didn't pay attention, kept her voice soft and stayed close to him. They soon found themselves back at the beach, her sitting on the back of his motorcycle and him standing next to her, looking out at the ocean.

"I'm keeping the black this time," Calli commented, breaking the silence.

David glanced over at her. "You said that last time."

"I mean it this time. I really do." Calli smoothed her hand through her hair. "I like the contrast to my skin…and your hair…"

David smirked and moved in front of her, caging her with his body. Calli draped her hands over his shoulders and played with the soft fringe at the base of his neck.

"You do look good as a goddess of the night," David told her, his eyes blazing with mischief.

Calli's eyes danced. "Honey, I always look good."

David's smirk grew bigger. "About damn time you see that, princess. I've only been trying to tell you that for the last six years."

The witch sighed and rolled her eyes. "David…will you just shut up and kiss me?"

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
