Katie's work day was now over and she was on her way home from the district. It had been a few hours since Noah had come to bring her lunch, even though he was going to see Katie because she had gotten too close to Jay and he had seen her and he wanted to give her a warning. The rest of the day was relatively awkward between Hailey, Jay, and Katie; Katie was doing her best to avoid her partner and her best friend, while they were just trying to do whatever they could to figure out what was actually wrong with Katie.
Katie was now stopped outside of her and Noah's apartment complex, she was sitting in her Jeep hoping that Noah wouldn't be home while also preparing for what was about to happen if he was. Katie knew that Noah would suspect something after what had happened at the district earlier in the day, and she knew that Noah was likely at home since he had the day off of work and his favorite bar was closed, and she knew that she should expect him to be aggressive. She didn't know exactly what Noah would be like since he had only ever been aggressive towards her once before and it was a complete shock to her, but she had some idea of what to expect because of her childhood, and her dad and her uncles.
Now that Katie was finally ready she stepped out of her car, took a deep breath, and headed toward her apartment. As she got out of the elevator and started walking down the hallway she felt her heart starting to beat faster and faster inside her chest. When Katie finally got to the door she began to panic, she could hear the TV playing, which meant that, as she had expected, Noah was at home.
"Hey, babe! I'm home," Katie called out as she unlocked the door and entered the apartment, "Listen, I'm sorry about what happened at work today, we had a tough case and we were pretty busy so we didn't have a lot of time to talk. There was also a missing kid so we were all pretty on edge today, but it has nothing to do with you, it was just kind of a bad time, but maybe you can visit again some other time."
"Really!" Noah snarled at Katie as he got up off of the couch and started towards her. "That's all you have to say to me right now?! Why don't we talk about the fact that you were about to tell your best friend and your boy toy about what's been happening lately!"
Katie started backing away from Noah. Unsure of what he was capable of, and not wanting to find out, Katie decided that she would try to calm Noah down. "Wait! No! I wasn't gonna tell them, I swear to God. We were just talking about the case. It hit me hard and they wanted to make sure I was okay, I promise I wasn't gonna-"
"Shut up Katie!" Noah interrupted her frantic attempt at an excuse once he had her backed up into the wall, "I know that you were going to tell them! How could you do this to me? After everything that I've done for you, and this is how you repay me!" he said as he wrapped his hand around Katie's neck. "You should be more respectful to me, I gave you things and I can just as easily take them away."
Now Katie was scared. Noah had wrapped his hand around her throat and she was now struggling to breathe. A few seconds later she felt a surge of relief as the hand left her neck, but seconds later, she was in pain again as a foot hit her stomach, and her back hit the wall. Before she knew it Katie was on the ground and in pain, once again being beaten by the man she loved. Katie was dying to say something to Noah to get him to stop, anything at all, and seconds later, she got the strength to say, "Noah I still love you! Why are you doing this?
A/N: Hey, lovely people, I'm sorry this chapter is so short, but when I was editing I realized that the chapter I had originally planned to publish after "I'm Fine" wouldn't have made sense with something in between the two to connect them and help with the time line, so I very quickly threw an organizer together and wrote this. But I hope that y'all like it!
