Juvia brought a box into her bathroom which he hadn't used in a long time. It was finally time for her to give up this apartment and move to her new life.
With Phantom Lord disbanded Juvia had nothing tying her down to this apartment and packed it up almost immediately, save for a few high-use items and areas. She just needed to find a new place to settle down, and she was pretty sure she found it.
As she took things out of drawers and debated on what to bring and what she could buy over there, she paused when she looked at her hair supplies. Various conditioners, sprays, and most noticeable of all, the 2 inch hair rollers that she would sleep with every night for as long as she could remember.
Juvia stopped to look at herself in the bathroom mirror.
She did it.
She was now a Fairy Tail mage.
This seemed so surreal, but everything since that day was.
This would be a new start for her, a chance to start again, despite the rough first impression. No! She was a new Juvia, a rain-free Juvia, things were different now. She was different now. She was being welcome to a guild she helped attack with surprisingly open arms.
And then there was him… God it was so confusing. To go from denouncing love to falling hard for man she had only just met. But… she felt like she knew him better now… after a battle, a few days of innocent following before approaching, and then a new battle where they were on the same side… On the same side, for now and forever, with her beloved—my goodness her mind spirals so quickly when it comes to him. She was still adjusting to this feeling of loving someone so quickly and so strongly, such a foreign feeling, but she didn't want to change it, she like it.
Yes, Juvia like this new her, she could tell so much was different but still felt like more should be done. Afterall she still looked like the same gloomy rain woman, despite the happier complexion. Something needed to be done, to help her look the way she felt on the inside.
She returned to her haircare supplies and dug through the items until she found her scissors. She debated brushing or measuring out, but she knew that in doing so she would most likely delay it or never go through with it at all.
These tight curls, why did she need to sleep with curlers when her hair naturally curled? They weren't the tightest natural curls but why did she need to force it? Why did it need to be so uniform? How did this even start? Was it because it was one of the few things she could control?
Control…
She was in control now.
She could control the rain, after all these years.
She could be free; she could be free!
Looking at herself in the mirror one more time, Juvia grabbed a tight curl and started cutting right where it started.
"Oy, raindrop, what did you do?" Juvia was greeted to Gajeel, who had let himself in, when she finally left the bathroom.
"Juvia thought she needed a little change.. does Gajeel-kun like it?" she sheepishly asked, wondering if she had been too impulsive.
"Yeah, but, you know you didn't need to change," her best friend responded.
They both paused, uncomfortable silence for both of them, Gajeel being friendlier than he liked to show others, and Juvia… just awkwardly never accepting her old self.
Juvia finally broke the silence by changing the subject.
"Gajeel-kun…. " she paused wondering how to say what she really wanted to, "Please come with Juvia."
Gajeel let out a snort, before sitting back down on her now bare bed.
"Trust me, they're not gonna want me."
"That's not true! They accepted Juvia!"
"You didn't do what I did."
"Gajeel-kun seems to have forgotten who was the one who kidnapped Lucy."
"You know what I mean!"
"Gajeel-kun… Juvia doesn't want you to be alone."
He let out another snort, "You don't need to worry about me."
"Juvia can't help it, she wants her best friend."
He put his hand behind his head sighing, "Look, the only way you'd get me to join is if you got that old man himself to drag me over there, it ain't gonna happen, besides you'll make enough replacement friends over there, you won't need me."
Looking at the boxes she had stacked, waiting for the movers due any minute now, Juvia thought for a bit. She eventually turned to Gajeel with a determined look on her face.
"Juvia will see you soon in Magnolia," she declared before turning to the door and setting her boxes in the lobby.
She's crazy. Gajeel thought before taking a few boxes himself to help her with the move. She'll be alright there with or without me.
A/N: I've been wanting to write a story about Juvia chopping off her curls, don't know how I ended up dragging Gajeel into this. Honestly, it was turning into a story of how they both ended up joining so I stopped it before I got too into it.
I don't know what to say about my fan status now, can't deny that I like writing for it.
If you all are interested I've been translating GruviaSilver's fanfictions from Spanish to English so check them out. I got two linguistics degrees and I want to use them!
