In the small barrio of arboleda del ángel, at an apartment building known as Casa de Sakura, an old man is sweeping the grounds, greeting the kids who leave for the day, and telling them to study. As he does, a news report comes over the small radio he's listening too. It reveals that a space shuttle that had launched from Earth the previous day is now in the orbit of the planet Nemesis as the planet approaches after an orbit of 230 million years. Aboard the shuttle are two child prodigy astronauts, Javier Yoshimura and Ava Nishida; Ava notes to Javier their approach to Nemesis as Javier marvels at the world. The shuttle enters into Nemesis' orbit with ease; but back on Earth, the old man turns his head to one side as his ear becomes pointed, as he seems able to hear the shuttle directly.

Upon landing, the astronauts see nothing, the planet seems to be barren a wasteland. Suddenly they spy a red glimmer far away in the dunes ahead, which they rush to investigate. The duo discover a large canister and investigate as a gem set into the top begins to glow. One of them touches it even as the old man yells that this is "the seal" and they should not open it; but they do, releasing an army of creatures from within: an orc named Rustica, a vampire named Vampiro, a leprechaun named Duende and a griffon named Grifon. Rustica yells for "Bandora" to awaken, revealing a witch who had just woken as if from a nap. When asking how long she was asleep, Vampiro and Rustica argue over a calculator as Duende yells at them for always doing this; Vampiro calculates that Bandora was out for 170 million years, 4 hours, 3 minutes and 20 seconds. Angry that the seal kept her out for so long, Bandora shoots the canister, scaring the astronauts. The creatures then notice the children who rescued them, Bandora casting a harsh breath towards them with enough force to throw them off the planet. Bandora turns to the sky and notices her old home of Earth stating that she has returned for her revenge after 170 million years.

On Earth people notice a skyscraper suddenly moving through the streets, shocking them as it wrecks the ground below as office workers are seen fleeing. Several other buildings likewise move until they come together in a strange new alignment. The Tower Building flies into space as news reporters comment until it comes back down with a massive castle on top of the skyscraper: the "Bandora Palace". The news reporter continues, stating that the structure looks like Gaudi's Sagrada Familia in Barcelona until Bandora and Grifor emerge, the witch laughing manically and declaring to humanity that she is the most powerful witch of all time and she'll turn the Earth into a desolate wasteland; a "stupid rock". Bandora declares humanity as ignorant for believing in love and they should hate and kill each other before firing her wand at random buildings, destroying them.

Spying the old man from the Casa De Sakura, Bandora greets him as the "Sage Barza", forcing him to transform into his true form and attempting to attack her; but Bandora reminds Barza that she defeated him and stole his spells; before using a hose and wrapping it around the sage and turning it into a snake. Barza breaks it and Bandora compliments him for still keeping some magic as the sage states the Earth is filled with love and hope and this isn't a world for her. However, Bandora mocks him stating that she still has the two children and the space shuttle as the kids yell out while Vampiro and Rustica set them up under a trap to be smashed by a weighted ball. Rustica is instructed to move a magnifier in front of a rope to let it burn, to smash the kids with the ball as Bandora declares she hates children to Barza. She states that in an hour, the rope will snap and the children will be squashed while challenging Barza to come and stop her before disappearing.

Angered by Bandora's challenge, Barza enters a hidden entrance in the apartment's basement and remarks he has secret weapons to use as well. After pressing several symbols, a large stone door opens, revealing a huge ancient temple with statues to the great guardian beasts; a dragon, a condor, a bison, a bear and a hawk. Barza declares to the statues that it is time to awaken the ancient warriors and that justice will defeat evil and restore peace to Earth. Entering into another chamber, he searches for a key and opens up the chambers for each warrior who had been resting in sealed slabs. Each of them possesses to power of one of the Great Beasts. He proudly declares the names of the ancient warriors. The black knight of the Sharma Tribe, Goushi; the yellow knight of the Dime Tribe, Boi; the pink princess of the Lithia Tribe, Mei & the blue knight of the Etoffe Tribe, Dan. Upon opening the chambers he discovers a troubling secret…the warriors have turned to dust (The sealing spells must have weakened after his fight with Bandora all those millennia ago). As he runs his hand through the sand that is all that remains of the warriors he laments about saving the two children; stating that only the Zyurangers could have saved them.

Meanwhile, in town a group of friends is sharing a drink at a local bar as they watch the news report. "Nero? Think we should be worried about that?" Jose (dressed in a dusty, blue jumpsuit) says with a sideways glance at the television set above the bar. Nero (wearing a red leather jacket and jeans) takes a long sip from his glass before answering. "Nope…got nothing to do with us….probably some stunt for a fancy movie or something." Another man in a vest and yellow bandana speaks up. "I don't think so…It looks real to me." Looking past Jose, Nero stares blankly at Barilo. "Why would anyone waste their time in our little town?" "Little?" an enthusiastic woman's voice interjects (wearing a long pink dress and her hair in a bun). "You think its small now? My grandmother remembers when it was only one street. You could see the entire town form either side." "You tell em' Chizuru!" Another woman (with spiked hair and a denim jacket) shouts before finishing off her drink. Chizuru smiles warmly as she fixes a stray hair.

Suddenly, back at the chamber a light begins to emanate from the warriors slabs, as the statues of the Great Beasts seem to come to life and roar. Their eyes glow and at the same time, the group at the bar vanish in a flash of multi-colored light before appearing if front of Barza. They all appear greatly confused, even Barza, who is pacing back and forth. "Strangers?! What are strangers doing here?! How?! Why?!" He seems to address the Beast statues. Nero cautiously steps forward. "Hey….old man? How did we get here…and where is here for that matter?" Barza looks him over before sneering. "You're here by mistake…it must be a mistake. You are no warriors." Chizuru puts out a hand to stop Nero as he starts to advance on Barza. "Whoa, hold on! I am sure he did not mean anything by that…..look just tell us why we're here or let us leave. Please?" Barza leans on his staff as he notices something. The Hawk Beast statue behind her reacted as Chizuru spoke. "Hmmmmm. Are you sure?" He ignored the group as he addressed the statues again before turning back to them.

"Fine…Fine. It seems the choice has been made. The Great Beasts called you here to combat an ancient threat." "Those things we saw on tv?" Jose asked. "Very observant. Yes. Bandora, the dark witch has been awakened and you must stop her." He gestures to the five. "This has to be a joke." Carla says while raising hers hands in protest. "Yea, just tell us the way out ok?" Barilo glances around nervously. "It is not for me to decide. You must choose. Save the world or walk away." Barza points his staff towards the statues and them to the doorway. The five look to each other as all but Nero begin walking towards the door. "Wait!" Nero shouts. "Old man? If we leave what happens then?" Barza smiled sadly. "The world will fall to darkness and death. I will try to fight her, but alone I cannot win."

Nero looks over at the other four before walking towards the statues, seemingly drawn to the Tyrannosaurus. "What do I have to do?" Barza stamps his cane against the stone floor, grinning. "Simply raise your hands to the Great Beasts and shout their name to the heavens!" Raising an eyebrow Nero faces the statue. "Dragon!" A bright red light covers him and then disappears in a flash, revealing an armored red and white form. "Nero? That you?" Carla asks. "I think so? Feels weird." Nero feels along the helmet until he finds the clasps and takes it off. "I'm not sure about all this, but….it feels right. As much as I trash talk this place…it's our home…and no crazy witch is going to take it away." The others share a glance and nod before taking their places in front of the other statues. Jose goes to the Condor, Barilo to the Bear, Carla to the Bison and Chizuru to the Hawk. Once they transformed they took their helmets off like Nero and faced Barza.

"You are now the Zyurangers. Together with your Great Beasts, you are unstoppable. Go….save the people! Save the world!" Barza says while beaming with pride. "Wait!" a voice calls out. The dust from the slabs flows towards the five, glowing with the warriors respective colors before turning into ghostly versions of themselves. "Warriors?! You have returned?!" Barza goes to greet them, but his hand passes right through them. "No master. We are gone, but a part of us remains. We cannot rest while Bandora wreaks havoc on the world." The warriors turn to the five. "You have assumed our power, but allow us to strengthen you further. Bandora is crafty and wise. She will show no mercy. We will be your blades and with our help we will guide you." The warriors fade as five weapons hang in the air where they stood. "Nero take my sword. " "Jose, my spear will serve you well." "Barilo, My axe is yours." Carla, May my daggers bring you victory." "Chizuru, my bow for you will fly true." As they took their new weapons, the chamber shook. "Bandora has begun her attack. There is no time!" Barza made a circular motion with his staff and the five vanished again before reappearing in front of Casa De Sakura.

Meanwhile at the shuttle, Ava cries as the weight draws closer and Javier tries to calm her. Bandora mocks them, stating she loves listening to their cries. Rustica informs the witch that some weirdos are approaching, which Bandora believes must be the five ancient warriors, as they observe them charge towards the castle. The knights approach Bandora Castle, but are suddenly by the ocean without explanation. Without warning, small gray creatures pop out of the ground. The creatures seem to play around as Barza telepathically informs the five that they are mud dolls before said dolls start attacking. Bandora appears from the ocean and zaps them with lightning and the five end up in a cityscape locked in a cage as they yell for help. Vampiro and Rustica torment them and light a fire to cook them. Nero tells Chizuru to shoot an arrow out of the cage, which seems to miss as the rope holding the weight burns, making the children more scared. Vampiro spins the cage to cook the Rangers as time nearly runs out and Barza continues to fret. However, without warning, beams emerge from the Guardian Beast's eyes and the ground shakes again, weakening the cage. Barilo summons his axe and smashes the cage open. Grifor swoops down to attack throwing them aside as the five knights take on the Mud Dolls in the room. Grifor attacks Nero as Barza yells at the five to come outside while instructing Jose and Chizuru to save the children. As the ball continues to fall, Jose throws Chizuru into the air as the ball falls, allowing her to grab the shuttle and save the children. However, without warning, a giant hand bursts through the castle, throwing the two Zyurangers off and grabbing the shuttle! Jose and Chizuru yell at it to return the shuttle as the giant, known as Dora Titan, stares down at them. Nero wonders what the creature is as Dora Titan attacks the Zyurangers before vanishing and Barza teleports the five back to the Chamber.
