Out of the front door I step, in only my cheetah onesie, clutching my teddy in hand. It's my first time going out into the woods. I am too small and scared to venture into the woods, but today is my first time. I venture out into the forest, bare feet touching the rough path, as I travel through the wondrous world beyond my home. It's so beautiful, yet mysterious and scary at most times. I was beginning to get used to it just a little bit, but luckily, I managed to keep a smile on my face as I looked up at the trees, their leaves falling all around me. I feel happy, and skip and spin as I make my way along the path. Suddenly, I come to a stop at three different paths. Where do they lead? I wonder. I look to one path, then another, and finally the last one. I decide to take the second one. Mum tells me never to take that path, because it could lead to danger. I decide to try it out, just for fun.

It was getting dark when I ventured further into the forest. I was wondering maybe I should've turned back, but I wasn't giving up. The forest seemed black and spooky all around me…then suddenly, I heard it. A growl. I looked all around and saw a pair of red eyes opening in the darkness. I was becoming afraid now, and I clutched my teddy hard. So hard that his arm might fall off. With the red eyes emerged a grey, furry body with sharp teeth and drool seeping out of them. I knew what it was - it was a wolf, and it didn't look very happy. In fact, it wanted me as a midnight snack since the sun was setting just at this minute. I tried hard not to scream as I stepped back, away from the wolf. Then, a cracking sound. I stepped on a twig. The wolf pounced at me, but I made a run for it. I was hurtling across the forest with the wolf in tow, biting at my heels like hyenas chasing a lion cub. I was wondering whether my legs would hurt from all the running and walking, but I wasn't ready to give up yet. I continued running, further and further away from the wolf.

Suddenly, I tripped over a rock, sending my teddy flying and me tumbling into a ditch! I was all muddy, but I heard growls and ripping noises far off, then footsteps scampering away into the distance. "Teddy!" I shouted, and I began to cry. My cheetah onesie was covered in mud, vanquishing the black spots on the yellow surface, and my leg was near to breaking, but I managed to get up and limp out of the ditch, across the forest. I was lost and alone, with no place else to go in the world, and I was upset that everything I loved had been lost to a wolf. I looked around. Spooky sounds like owls screeched in the shadows. Large shadows loomed on the leafy ground. I closed my eyes to block out the darkness and pictured me back home…but my mum was strict over things and just says no to things I can't do. I sat near a tree and scowled. "Nobody ever wants to do anything they want. I wish…I wish I could do everything my own way and never grow up. I wish nobody would take everything I love away from me, and I wish I had some friends." I never had friends where I lived in the forest, because I didn't go to school. I just sat there, looking around me at nature. It seemed very relaxing, just looking around and admiring the scenery. With no wolf around, I thought this was a time to think.

Suddenly, I saw a strange glow in the distance. The sound of tribal drums filled the air. I thought this might be some kind of strange tribal ritual happening. Might it be a ritual where they eat children? Might it be a ritual where they sacrifice someone to bring food? There's only one way to find out, so I crept along the forest to the source of the glow, which was getting stronger and warmer by the minute. I peered round trees and listened with my sharp ears. The tribal drums seemed to be getting louder by the minute. I was shivering and wanted to know what caused this curious noise. The glow got closer and closer, nearer and nearer, until I found what looked like a tribe. "Wow," I whispered.

A vampire, a mummy, a trainee witch and a Frankenstein's monster girl were all banging on tribal drums as a shapeshifter with green hair brought a wolf to a large wooden table. A young boy was looking at the dead wolf carcass and holding a bloodied knife over its dead body. "Let the sacrifice commence!" he cried, and stabbed the wolf through the stomach with the knife. In it were entrails, guts and the remains of stuffing belonging to a teddy bear. I looked closer and saw that it wasn't just a teddy bear, but it was mine. "We will not eat what the wolf has eaten, but whoever left it there, we shall spare its life!" cried the boy. "Spare it! Spare it! Spare it!" chanted the other monster kids.

"Wait!" I shouted, racing towards the monster kids, "You saved me from that wolf, didn't you see?" "Wolf? What wolf? I am a wolf!" said the boy. "I'm Luke." "You're a werewolf?" I gasped. "Yeah, I'm just an ordinary kid, apart from that werewolf gene." "Well you killed it, and my teddy was inside it." The monster kids gasped. "Is this…your bear?" asked the mummy. "Yes, and you've killed the wolf, so what?!" The monster kids murmured and looked at each other, confused. "Not your leader, this wolf!" I said, pointing at the dead wolf carcass. I ran up to it and reached my hand into the carcass, pulling out the head of my bear and roaring. "This bear is rightfully mine!" The monster kids cheered and ran up to me, shaking my hand. "So now we know," said the vampire, "Yes, why didn't we think of that? It's great!" "She knew that bear was her's," said the Frankenstein's monster.

"So…why are you all here? By the way, who are all of you?" "I'm Luke," said the boy. "Luke Watson. That vampire over there is Resus Negative, and the one next to her is 4,000 years old, her name is Cleo." "Hi," said Cleo, "I think I'm getting to like this newcomer," said Resus. "This over here is Luella, she seems to have a massive crush on me." "OMG, I've never met someone outside our territory before." "I'm Six," introduced the Frankenstein's monster, "And that over there is Dixon." Dixon was picking his nose, but he immediately stopped and hid his hands behind his back when he saw me. "Oh! Hi!" he said. "Why are you guys all alone in this forest?" I asked. "By the way again, I'm Violet." "We were left behind by our kings and queens earlier last week, on a Tuesday." said Luke. "Kings and queens? Is that like…your parents?" "Yeah, but they left us behind because they wanted to sign a contract with CBBC to air all of our dreaded Series 2." said Cleo. "We set up this tribe because we wanted to strike back against the BBC's children's department for letting America provide cheaper programmes for our schedule."

"All we need is a leader to order us about in our rule-free environment, and you look just right for the position, Vi." said Dixon. "Me?" I said, "But I'm too young." "Who says you're too young to lead us if you're only six and we're much older than you?" "Hey!" said Six, "That's offensive!" I concerned the arguing monster kids, then I stepped up onto the wooden table and cleared my throat. "There won't be any more fighting when I'm around to lead you guys!" Everyone spun round to see me holding a stick up and yelling at the top of my lungs. "CBBC is becoming americanised as we know it! It's become a noisy, fast moving streaming advertisement, dragging it further away from its British roots! The BBC may be turning 100, but that's bad news for British people everywhere! We have to use our common sense, and make Britain British again! We need to provide the children of the UK with the charm we have lost from your show and every other show on TV! Join the wild revolution! Save Britain and use your courage! I am your new leader!"

Everyone cheered wildly over my speech, and then Luke cried over the noise, "Hey, leader, what's your first order of business?" There was a long silence. Then I held my stick up and shouted, "LET'S PLAY!" Everyone cheered again as I leapt down from the table and lead my new friends into the forest. For the rest of the night until sunrise we played wild games of hide and seek and tag, and we rolled down hills until our clothes got muddy. Then, as the sun rose over the sea, we howled altogether and hugged playfully.

Later, I looked around as the monster kids relaxed by the trees, feeling carefree and safe. "They look pretty chilled out," I said. "This is my family," said Luke, "And it'll be yours too." "Mine?" I said. "All mine?" "Yes, all yours," said Luke. I ran away from Luke up to Resus and Luella, who were lying by a huge oak tree. "I'm so glad you've become our only hope for the future of our show, Vi," said Resus, "I think you're a good example to everyone." "Even though I have a temper?" "Don't even, like, talk about Tracy Beaker," said Luella, "She ruined our lives by telling us Looneyland isn't real!" "Looneyland?" "Remember Tracy's Fantasy?" "Mmm-hmm," I said. "Well, Tracy fooled us by airing another episode to tell us Looneyland isn't real." "That's another world. You just have to forget about it, that's all."

A half-dog and a leech sprang up to me and cuddled me. "Those are Dig and Lulu. They were left there with us when we were abandoned. They are our tribal pets." "Aren't they cute?" I said. "Cute as a button, you may say." "Or a button mushroom." I laughed. Dig ran up to Cleo, who held him in her arms as he licked her face with his drooly tongue. "Yuck," she laughed. Dig leapt onto the ground and rolled about in the leaves, presuming he had an itchy back. "She's great!" cried a voice, and Dixon swept me up and cuddled me. "Hey! Stop!" I laughed. He began to sing:

"I'm gonna be a mighty king, so enemies beware,

Well I've never seen a king of beasts with quite so little hair!"

"Oh, Dixon, do lighten up," said Six as she entered. "Sing something with a pizazz in it."

"Edelweiss, Edelweiss…"

"Nah, anything like that." said Six.

"All the town is waking, opening their eyes,

Bakers are baking muffins on the rise,

Chickens are a clucking, shops are set to sell…

No, I never had to mention it to Otto."

"What did you say?" said Luke, charging up to Dixon all of a sudden. "Nothing," said Dixon. "You know the law - never ever mention the names of our kings and queens, there's a leader guiding us now." "Know me!" I called, and ran off into the forest, prowling on all fours. Behind a log, Resus was there, hiding and giggling. He peered out from behind the log and went "Boo!" So I jumped up after him and went "Rawr!" "Boo!" "Rawr!" "Boo!" "Rawr!" This whole thing went on and on until I pounced onto Resus, laughing like there was no tomorrow and tickling him. "Hey! Stop!" he cried. Luke then leapt onto me and Resus and tickled both of us. Soon, we were joined by Cleo, then Luella, then Six and finally Dixon until we were snuggled up in a huge pile. Dig and Lulu ran up to us and snuggled against us.

I crawled through the pile of monsters and snuggled in the warmth of it all. "See?" said Luke from the pile, "This is the great life. No rules, no responsibilities, no worries, and a life of great fun, in a world owned by you. Isn't it awesome?" "Totally," I said. "Nobody uses the word totally anymore," said Six, "Except for American people." A loud groan rose up from the pile. "Silence!" I cried, "We need peace and quiet now." There was a long silence. Then Luella mumbled, "Is there anything you want to say, leader?" I cleared my throat and began to speak. My voice got more tired as I spoke.

"In you, Lord, I have taken refuge, let me never be put to shame, deliver me in your righteousness. Turn your ear to me, come quickly to our rescue, be my rock of a refuge, a strong fortress to save me. Since you are my rock and fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. Keep me free from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge. Into your hands I commit my spirit, for-"

I yawned and snuggled with my new friends in our soft, gentle pile, surrounded by nature. With that psalm said, my new friends felt at peace with the lord. However, in our godly surroundings, I was having a satanic nightmare…

I was skipping through a field, holding my teddy bear, happy I was in a safe environment, back with the toy I cherished the most. After a few seconds, the sky turned dark red, and the field leaked with crimson blood. I looked at the blood surrounding my toes, and my teddy disintegrated to dust. I was shocked, but then I noticed something really shocking - the blood had lead to my new friends, who were all dead in a London town. "NO!" I shouted, "What have you done, CBBC?!" Then I saw the British flag towering over me like a skyscraper, though I never saw one of those before. The flag was lowered. "Oh no, not the flag!" I wailed. In its place, the American flag was raised, and the Horrible Histories children's TV song began to blast out of nowhere, then it pitched down and got replaced by the American National Anthem. It shook the whole place, and nearly made my ears bleed. Then I saw them. Shadows. Shadows of an aardvark, a rabbit, three kids which have a psychedelic animation style, a beetle, a snow monkey, a poodle and some trolls wearing boxes as clothes towered over me. A deep voice rang out: "We're coming for you, Violet!" Then the shadows aimed guns at me. I screamed, BANG!

Then the next moment, I woke up. It was just a nightmare. Someone was holding me in safe, gentle arms. I looked down and saw the shadow of a werewolf, then I saw the shadows of a vampire and a mummy. I smiled, realising what they were. Luke, Resus and Cleo. My new best friends. "Luke," I said weakly, "Thank god you're here, I had the worst dream. Britain was being taken over by America and you were shot to death." "None of that matters now, we never were killed in reality," soothed Luke. "We're not the bad guys, we're the good guys," said Resus. Luke lifted me onto my shoulders and pointed around me. "Everything the light touches is yours." "Will this all be mine?" "Yes, a whole world where only you can think up things we can follow." "Then with me at your command, my first order is that the first season of Scream Street should air on CBBC right this instant!" Luke, Resus and Cleo laughed. "Not yet," said Luke, "There are still some things we need to think about at the moment." "Like for instance, there's no water in this part of the forest, so Luella has to magic up food and water for us, and we only take baths in the sea." said Cleo. "So nice," I said, "I think I could get used to this place."

When we wandered through the desert, our bare feet touching the sand as we walked, the sun beating down on us, making us sweat. "We need a serious ocean bath once we've crossed this border," said Resus, wiping his brow. "You're right," said Luke, "My throat is dry as hell." "If only Luella was here to magic up some water." I said. I looked up, and saw vultures circling around us. "They're going to eat us, aren't they?" I whimpered. "Eat us they will, but someday soon you'll grow out of us, and soon we'll grow up and leave you behind. This happens to everyone, but there's a saying that friends leave you behind and stay forever in your heart." "Really?" I asked. "Yep," said Luke. "Then…promise you guys won't forget me?" I said. "No, we won't, Violet, we promise."
