Just beyond the desert, we approached a rocky canyon. Luke was an expert climber, because he could partially transform his hands into werewolf paws. Cleo was an expert, too, Resus wasn't so much of a climber - in fact, he was a bit of a wimp. "Having trouble?" I asked. "Yeah, I can't seem to get up to our secret place." "Secret place? Wow! Where's that?" "Just over these rocks." Resus lifted me onto his shoulders and climbed up the rocks towards the edge of the canyon. There was a whole rocky plain bordered by large steep cliffs. "Luke, wait for me!" I called. My voice echoed. I liked the sound of that echo, so I roared. "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRR!" Resus tried a roar, but it turned out to be a squeak. "Stop being a wussy, Resus, and follow us!" called Luke. We raced down the rocks after them, and into the depths of the canyon.

As the canyon became steeper and darker, we saw lots of cave paintings of monsters hunting bears and mammoths, old friends, handprints and what looked like their parents. "Resus…are those your parents?" I asked, pointing to the picture of two grand looking vampires with two crowns above their heads. A small tear came into Resus' eye. "This is my king and queen. To us, we're princes and princesses. Once they left us behind, we became loners. Loners are what you call those left behind in the forest. Remember Marina Chapman?" I shook my head. "She became a loner when she befriended those monkeys. They were the best family ever, and had fun playing together…until the brothel took her away." "I don't want authorities to take us away. We have to stay together," I said, huddling up to Resus. "RESUS!" called Luke. "Coming!" called Resus, scampering into the darkness of the canyon. I followed.

I saw a whole cave covered with paintings of every single CBBC character there was when Scream Street's first season aired, the monster kids' own kings and queens, and some handprints all over the base of one of the walls. Luke, Resus and Cleo were sitting before it, gazing at the blank patch on the wall. "Look, Sybil, this is where we leave our mark when we've chosen our role in life. Resus, Cleo and I are loners now. We know how to forage for food, build homes and survive out in the wild." There were a few dry gourds hanging from the wall. Luke took one of the gourds and cracked it open, revealing a lot of sticky orange juice. "We're going to make our mark as loners for what we've done. I'll go first." Luke dipped his hand into the sticky juice and printed it on the wall. I was amazed by his handprint. "I'll go next. I have embraced who I really am - a true vampire, without being one." Resus dipped his hand into the juice and placed his handprint next to Luke's. "I'll go next, I've done a lot of achievements over the last 4,000 years." Cleo dipped her bandaged hand in the juice and placed her handprint next to Resus'. I could see the stripes where the bandages had been. Then Luke, Resus and Cleo turned to me. I was confused. Why were they looking at me? Had I done something wrong? Had I done something to leave my title as leader of the pack?

"Violet, you have a very important role to play. Now that you're our leader, you must make your mark and become a goddess." "A goddess?" I was confused. "A goddess is a girl who does things independently from the very first step, and you journeyed through the forest. A hundred miles to find us. That's a long way. Are you ready?" I looked at Luke and his friends, then I looked at the wall, covered with the trio's handprints. "I am a part of you," I announced, and I stepped forward and placed my hand into the juice. I placed my mark right next to Cleo's. "See? She gets it. Now she's a goddess." said Resus, laughing. "Now what must I do?" "Lead us…until you become a part of the moon." "Why is the moon a part of the afterlife?" I asked. "The moon collects souls of the dead and gathers them into her warm bosom, and each goddess soul she collects will mean the goddesses that have come before will all be watching us. Soon, we will be gods and goddesses too, and when we die, we'll become moondust." explained Luke. "As loners, we plan to declare war on CBBC, but first, we must think of a world where we obey our own rules." "We can," I said, "As long as you stay with me til the end."

Travelling back to the forest through the desert could make you hot and sweaty, so we went over to the beach to bathe in the ocean. Luella, Six and Dixon were there too, and since there were no clothes racks on the beach, we left our clothes, including my cheetah onesie, on the beach. Luke's T-shirt had armpit odour stains where he was sweating, but he didn't care. We splashed about in the ocean, having tons of fun and being at one with the cool, inviting water. Luke lay down amongst the waves and sighed as water splashed right over him. Cleo was splashing Luella, but when she noticed me she grabbed me and hugged me. Dixon was nervously trying to go near the water, but everytime the waves splashed over the sand, he'd back away. When he finally got used to the water, he shapeshifted into a surfboard then back into his normal form again. "Yes!" he cried, "Water, lovely water, YEEEEE-HAAAAAA!" Six was swimming underwater, and when I swam underwater to see her, she was swimming around with a dolphin. I swam up to her, but Luke and Resus grabbed hold of me. Cleo was swimming underwater too, and we all swam deep under the depths, being at one with the sea. I spent most of my time underwater, looking at the light shining through the sea. When I climbed up onto a rock, Luke, Resus and Cleo swam up to me. "This is the best amount of fun you have given me," I laughed, "I am free!" And I leapt into the water, splashing Luke, Resus and Cleo, and soon we were splashing each other as Luella lay in the water, Six sat surrounded by the splashing waves and Dixon screamed as waves splashed up against him.

Later, we sat on the beach to get dry in the warm sun, and that was when I announced my plan to everyone. "Okay, everyone, this is very important. We're going to be masters of our own world!" I found a stick on the sand and drew out a large circular shape, whistling an ancient pan flute tune. "Ooh! Ooh! Can I be king? Can I? Can I?" asked Dixon. "No!" shouted Luke, "We don't discuss what happened to you when you returned to CBBC!" "Sorry." Dixon giggled. "Right, I've got loads of ideas for our fort. We're going to have an ice cream parlour, a swimming pool, a trampoline, lots of things that'll make life more comfortable. As for our foes from CBBC, if they get in, we murder them." The monster kids laughed and high-fived each other. "It'll lead out through a cave in a part of the canyon, where we made our mark." "Of course we mean for these things to happen," interrupted Dixon, "Things do happen the way they used to, but the Queen is dead." "Once prince," I snorted through gritted teeth. "What?" asked Dixon. "Right, what I meant was, we will make a tunnel that'll lead into the fort. Six, do you want to be in charge of the tunnels?" "Wow, I've never been given an important job before," blushed Six. "Cleo, Resus, Dixon and Luella will do the building and fetching and carrying, and Luke, you will be in charge of building it." "You should definitely be the boss man around here," said Luella, "You are the one who-" "Ah-ah-ah!" said Luke, "You were about to mention another incident, right?" "Mmm-hmm." said Luella. "Let's get dry first, then we'll get building. Oh, and I forgot to mention, we'll take care of each other and we'll all sleep together in a real pile."

Later, the building of the fort was in full swing. Luke and his friends did exactly what I ordered them, carrying rocks and sticks and other large natural materials to make the fort. "Are you sure this is, like, going to work?" asked Luella. "Yes, it'll be so awesome even hunters can't get in. It'll be like a girl becoming queen of the world!" "Goddess!" called Cleo from the distance. "Oh yeah, right, goddess." I cleared my throat and went on, "I'll be part castle, fort and mountain! We won't have a laboratory, because that'll bring back horrifying memories for Six." "I heard that!" called Six from the distance. "We'll have a burger bar instead, just like Bluey and Bingo imagined for the dream house car. We'll have our own ball pit, and our own language - Swahili is better - and we can understand each other better if we look into each other's minds. Who's with me? ROAR IF YOU ARE!" Everyone roared to the heavens, and Luke howled because he was a werewolf.

"And don't forget," I added, "We shall embrace our blessings with teamwork, love, kindness, caring, loyalty, helping others, friendship and fun." This was proved at that point when Luella kissed Resus on the cheek, and when Dixon was helping Cleo build the fort extensions. "That's better," I sighed. "You know, you're starting to sound like a true goddess there, Vi," said Cleo. "I have power! Ooh! I have power, I have power, I have power!" I cried, racing around with great gusto. "Luke, I think this fort is a great idea," said Resus. "I can't wait to get started on all the fun we'll have together, and when we do declare war, we'll drop a nuclear bomb on the BBC!" "Yes!" cried Dixon. "Maybe I can magic up the bomb," said Luella. "And I can't wait to have an ice cream burger once we've finished," said Dixon, and rubbed his belly hungrily. "Do you have any crisps?" Luella, in response, magicked up a packet of crisps, and Dixon munched happily, while the others continued work.
