Chapter 6

The sun slowly set as the vampires started to stir. Being the youngest, Maya was the last to start waking up. She slowly rubbed her eyes as she listened to her brothers shifting from a long day's sleep. David had already dropped down and was stretching his arms out pulling on the muscles in his back. Dwayne was watching Paul and Marko argue about who was the nosiest sleeper. Paul shoved Marko backward into Maya. Maya, unexpecting it, almost fell if Dwayne had not grabbed her.

David raised an eyebrow at the two boys. "Are you two finished?"

Paul and Marko smirked. The other boys and Maya released the bars and floated down to the ground. They got dressed and moved to the front of the cave. Laddie was laying on the couch reading a comic book while Star was pacing back and forth.

"David, I want to go to the boardwalk alone." Star stated.

David tilted his head at her. "Why?"

Star opened her mouth before lowering her eyes down.

David scoffed. "You and Laddie will remain in the cave tonight. Do not leave."

Star frowned and stormed toward her room.

David frowned. "Star"

She stopped and waited.

"I said you were to remain in the cave tonight and not leave. Do you understand?"

Star turned and looked over her shoulder at David. "Yes, David. I understood you. I'm to remain here like a good girl and watch Laddie while you vampires get to go out tonight. If that's all, I'm going back to bed."

Star went behind the curtain and laid down on the bed. David stared at her for several minutes debating if he should deal with this now or make her pay later before deciding to deal with it later. The others looked at each other before following David.

Everyone quietly flew up the cliff wall and climbed on the bikes. David revved his engine before taking off with the others quickly following. The Lost Boys pulled up outside of the Emerson household. Inside they could hear Sam, the old man and Michael talking. Maya could not help but laugh at Sam telling the old man to use Windex as aftershave. They watched as the old man left. It would be easier to mess with Michael if the old man was not here.

David and the others revved their engine before rising in the air with their motorcycles. They started blasting their lights into the house as David called out to Michael. The minute Michael threw the door open they turned off their lights and stopped messing with the wind.

They heard Michael tell Sam to go take a bath however he spent a few more minutes looking out into the dark before he turned away. Michael didn't look so good.

Maya frowned before turning to David. 'Is it safe to leave Sam in the house with him? Michael looks really bad."

'He'll be fine. Sam has that mutt with him. The mutt will protect him. Come on we have to report to Max'

The lost boys turned on their motorcycles and took off down the road heading toward Max's home. They pulled up as he was walking up to the door with Thorn.

Paul and Marko seemed really excited. Paul reached into the side pocket of the bag on his motorcycle and pulled out a package.

He showed the others a bat kite. David smirked and nodded his head.

Paul flew into the air right toward Max causing Thorn to growl and bark. Paul aimed and threw the kite at Max.

They all smirked at the look on Max's face as he jumped when the kite hit him. Paul landed on his bikes. It had been worth the consequences seeing the great and powerful Max jump over a bat kite.

David and Dwayne smiled before David started his bike, clicked on the bright lights, and revved his engine. The others followed his lead.

Maya just rolled her eyes. She never understood why the boys made it their mission to drive Max crazy but she knew it was better not to question David's actions. After a few minutes the boys turned off their lights and headed toward Max.

'He does not look happy at all' Maya thought.

"Really David? Aren't you all a little too old to be playing childish games?" Max questioned.

David just smirked.

Max just sighed before turning and walk into the house leaving the door open for the lost boys and girl to follow him.

Max sat down in the chair waiting for the others to sit down. Max removed the glasses and faced the others. "Would you all care to explain what happened tonight? I was having a wonderful dinner with Lucy when she received a call from Sam. She heard Sam screaming about how someone was going to hurt him and fled our dinner. Any ideas?"

Everyone tensed. It would seem Michael experienced a blood lust.

David slowly sat forward "it's not our fault Michael experienced the bloodlust. You said to take it slow when bringing him in. He should have been held in a cave room until he gave into the blood lust."

David leaned back with a smirk. "At least Sam had the dog with him. I'm sure Michael learned a hard lesson about avoiding dogs in the future?"

Max moved quickly and had Maya slammed against the wall hanging by his hand around her throat. The Lost Boys jumped to their feet and watched in fear for the youngest vampire.

Maya gasped for air as Max tightened his hand around her throat.

Max snarled. "Do you think this is a joke? Do I look like I am in a joking mood? I don't care how you deal with it but you had better speed up. I want Michael fully turned soon and Sam becoming half before I approach Lucy about joining us in vampirism. I will not accept failure. Do you understand me?"

David snarled. It's not like they could do anything faster. He slowly adjusted his jacket. "Crystal. Anything else Max?"

"No."

David nodded. Max removed his hand from Maya's throat. Maya dropped and stumbled as she ran into Dwayne's arms shaking. Dwayne rubbed his hand on Maya's back as she coughed while her throat healed from the pressure of Max's grip. The bruise on her throat slowly faded.

David and Max glared at each other with anger. It was obvious there was anger between them. David motioned to the others and headed for the door. He needed to get his aggression out before he did something he would regret. He jumped on his bike and zoomed off with the other's following. They left their bikes in the shed they used during the day time and flew into the air. The five vampires flew to Luna Bay to see who they could find to let out some aggression. They came across a party of surfers.

David noticed a pickup with someone asleep in the back a fair distance away from the fire. He motioned to Maya.

'You can have the one in the back of the truck. He's out. Don't let him alert the others.'

Maya nodded her head and disappeared in the night. She had never seen the boys this angry. She was not about to get in their way. Maya slipped over to the truck and got in the back. She placed a hand over the guys mouth and bit down. The guy jerked awake but was too weak to fight by the time he realized what was going on.

Maya could hear the party going on behind her. Some guy was giving a drunken speech. A few minutes later, all she heard was the screams of the victims.

A few minutes earlier -

One guy stood up and held up a cup.

"Here is to the best surfer ever to have surfed before, Shane Powers"

The rest of the group cheered and raised their glasses. The whole group was so wasted they never realized what was about to happen or the fact their friend was dying a few feet away from them.

The lost boys removed their jackets and attacked those around them. Paul grabbed the star of the party, Shane Powers, and bit down hard on his throat. Suddenly someone stabbed him from behind. The metal pole went through his shoulder just missing the human. Paul fell forward dropping the human below him unknowingly spilling his blood on the human's face and some went into the man's mouth. Paul stood up and jerked the pole from his shoulder and attacked the human.

Maya stayed back and watched in shock at how angry the boys were. Max was lucky to never feel this wrath. The police would call this the most gruesome murder scene they had ever seen.

By the time the boys were finished the sky had started becoming lighter. They quickly grabbed the bodies and dumped them on a pile not realizing they were missing a body. They did not see the trail that led to the water. All five rose in the air and flew into the cave just as the sun started to rise.

They saw Michael and Star fast asleep in bed oblivious to the five vampires. David could not help and laugh at this turn of events. Maybe he would be able to get Michael to feed after all. David led the others to their resting place ready for a deep sleep.
