Chapter 9

The sun set on the active town of Santa Carla. People walking on the boardwalk shuddered as a wind blew around them. Something sinister was in the air. A few people decided to go home as the sinister feeling of the boardwalk gave them goosebumps.

In a cave on the far side of Santa Carla, a sinister darkness was boiling waiting for the sun to go down. David leaned against the wall with Maya fast asleep against him. There was a lot to do before they confronted Michael and the other humans for what they had done to them.

Marko, Paul, and Dwayne dropped from the top as David woke Maya up. Dwayne helped her stand up. The poor girl was shaking slightly as she handed Paul his jacket. Maya clutched Dwayne's arm breathing heavy as she tried to remain standing. David lifted her shirt to look at her wound and it was not pretty. The bleeding had stopped but there was a caved-in hole in her stomach. Her clothes were covered in blood. There was no saving the outfit.

"We feed first and then we get our revenge." David ordered.

The group moved to the front of the cave to prepare. David bit back a snarl at realizing Star and Laddie were gone. They must have left with Michael and the hunters. David motioned to Star's room so Dwayne helped Maya over there. Dwayne helped Maya clean up the blood on her stomach and change her clothes before lifting her up in his arms and placing her on Star's bed. Maya laid down on the bed groaning in pain. She needed fresh blood.

David walked over and ran his hand on her cheek. "You stay here and rest. We'll bring back some dinner for you when we bring back Michael and Sam."

Maya's eyebrows shot up "NO. I'M GOING WITH YOU!" She jerked up before moaning with pain and clutching her stomach in pain.

David snarled and pushed her lightly back on the bed "NO YOU WILL NOT. YOU'RE TOO WEAK. YOU WILL REMAIN HERE UNTIL WE GET BACK. I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANY MORE ARGUING"

Maya frowned and looked away. David was right but it still hurt. A tear ran down her cheek.

David frowned and kneeled beside Maya. He reached out and cupped Maya's face wiping the tear away.

"We almost lost you this morning. The last thing I want is to really lose you this time. Stay here. Rest. Wait for our return."

Another tear ran down Maya's face. It hurt to be left behind. She nodded her head. David stood up but, before he could move away, Maya grabbed his arm. "Don't treat them like kids. Treat them like full-fledged hunters. They know what they are doing. If you go in there being cocky you'll all die."

David nodded his head before kissing Maya on the head. The boys followed David's lead kissing their sister's head. They walked outside and waited for David to say something. David stood looking at the moon. Tonight, would have been the night that they would get Michael to feed and force Star to finally feed. David had the whole night planned out but now everything had changed. Tonight, the Frogs got what they deserved and Michael would pay for bringing the hunters here.

Dwayne placed his hand on David's shoulder in support. Max may be the clan leader but David was the true leader. He was the one who cared about them and made sure they were ok. David would have eliminated the threat of the frog brothers the minute the brats had started handing out those stupid vampire magazines. Maya was right. They needed to treat this like any other threat that has come to Santa Carla.

David turned and smirked at the others. "Time to go boys. We have a lot of work to do tonight."

David rose into the air and disappeared into the night.

The others smirked and rose into the air following right behind their leader.

Death was coming.
