Chapter 12

Maya and Laddie laughed as they played the packman arcade game. Laddie was beating Maya by 6 points. Neither were paying attention to their surroundings.

"What do we have here?" a voice said behind the two.

Maya and Laddie jerked around to see four men behind them.

They were dressed in a pair of blue jean shorts with the phrase "We own the beach" on the front. Surf Nazis. Maya hated those guys but at least it was easy to spot them as they always had something saying they owned the beach on them.

Maya tensed as the leader moved closer to ran his finger down Maya's arm.

"Seems we have a pretty girl that looks like she should be having a good time with some handsome men like us instead of a little rat." the man said.

His friend scoffed. "Those two are part of those creeps, The Lost Boys gang."

The leader's arms smirked bigger. "Oh Really"

He leaned down closer to Maya's face "Maybe if you ask really nice, I'll let you go after you give me a kiss on the lips beautiful."

Maya leaned away from the boy. "I'd rather kiss a toad. It's a whole lot prettier than you."

Laddie slapped his hand over his mouth as he snickered.

The man snarled. He grabbed Maya's face in his hand. "You better be careful princess. I'm the new leader of the Surf Nazis and I won't stand for some little brat talking to me that way. I can be sweet and loving to you or I can be cruel and break every bone in your body."

"oh, I'm so scared I'm shaking in my boots." Maya exclaimed rolling her eyes. "Apparently you didn't listen to your friend. I'm a lost girl and this is lost boys' turf so drop dead."

Maya jerked her foot back and sent it straight into his private place.

The man jerked forward with a choked cry and fell to his knees as his friends' eyes widened.

Maya grabbed Laddie's hand and pulled him toward the exit. The two took off running as the man pointed at them and chocked out for his followers to get them.

The three goons took off after the two lost boys' members.

Maya shook her head. This was just the stuff David warned about. He was going to be so angry with her for not paying attention to her surroundings.

Sam was heading toward the Arcade when he heard Laddie scream his name.

"SAM!"

Sam glanced around him. Suddenly a small body slammed into his back.

Sam jerked around to see Laddie behind him. He glanced over the boy's shoulder to look for Maya but didn't see her. "Where's Maya, Laddie?"

Tears ran down the boy's face. "They took her Sam. She told me to hide and not come out until the coast was clear. One of them struck Maya in the back of the head as she was fighting with the other two. They picked her up and carried her away, but I followed them after they took her."

Sam tensed. "Where did they go?"

Laddie frowned and whipped his eyes. "The old tuna fish canning factory. Sam, is Maya gonna die?"

Sam snarled at that, and his eyes flashed yellow. "No, she's not going to die. Listen go to the bikes and stay there. Wait for me or one of the boys. I'm going after her."

Laddie nodded his head and disappeared into the crowd.

Sam took off running to the factory. 'DAVID, MAYA'S IN TROUBLE. WE NEED HELP. THE OLD TUNA FISH FACTORY.'

David and the others smirked as they watched Max punish Michael and Star for their betrayal.

Max had the boys strip them down to their undergarments. If that was not embarrassing enough, Max had the boys hold them down as he smacked them 20 times each across their butts as if they were two young children. While he was doing this, he lectured on why they caused him to do this.

He then had the boys hold the half vampires down as he wrapped chains boiled in holy water around their wrists. It burned but not enough to kill the vampires it touched.

Max was almost a century old, but he still came up with clever punishments when he felt inclined to do so. He dried his hands on the towel before turning toward the two half vampires.

"I am very disappointed in you two. You have caused a lot of trouble for your brothers and I."

Max picked up a glass of fresh human blood that was sitting on the table and waved it under the nose of Star and Michael. The burning in their throats was 10x worse than when they had left Santa Carla. Star whimpered at the smell while Michael snarled at Max. Max smirked at them before placing the glass on the table. He stopped and placed his hands on his hips. "I think its best I keep you two with me for a while. You have a lot to learn and, until I can trust you, I think it will be best if you have limited freedom at this time."

Max lowered himself to look into Michael's eyes. "When I bought this house, I had special rooms created so I could punish David and the others if they disobeyed me. Corporal punishment works wonders on rambunctious children."

Max turned toward Star as she started to cry.

Max reached out and ran a hand across her face wiping the tears away. "Don't be afraid. The punishments will not hurt you too bad. By the time I'm done you will understand why I have rules in place for you and what will happen if you disobey again."

Michael leaned forward and spit at Max.

The lost boys' eyes widened at Michael's disrespect. Max's eyes flashed before he forced a tight smile on his face. "I am lucky your mother is more open minded than you are Michael."

"Stay away from my mother!" Michael yelled.

Max laughed. "Your mother knows about you and Sam being vampires. She was reluctant to join me but has changed her mind once she realized her sons were going to live forever. A mother always does the best for her children. Lucy realized that joining me would be in everyone's best interest."

Michael shook his head. "You're lying. She would never do that."

Max just smirked at Michael. "You will see the truth soon. Boys, I think rooms one for star and four for Michael will work."

David nodded his head before glancing at Paul and Marko.

The two stepped forward and each picked up a chair from behind. Dwayne walked over to the fireplace and pushed the button hidden by the fireplace to open the secret passage showing a set of stairs that led down into the darkness. Paul and Marko disappeared into the dark with Michael and Star.

Dwayne and David frowned as they listened to Paul comforting Star. The girl didn't deserve it, but they all remember their first time being punished by their leader. It would be one experience that the two half vampires would never forget.

David opened his mouth to make a comment when he winced at the sudden shout in his head.

'DAVID, MAYA'S IN TROUBLE. WE NEED HELP. THE OLD TUNA FISH FACTORY.'

Sam's voice rang so loud David thought his head would explode.

"Max, we need to go. Sam and Maya are in trouble." David said.

Max frowned and cursed. "Go quickly. Let me know what has happened tomorrow night."

David and the others rushed out of the house and into the sky. A stabbing pain went through David's chest. If it wasn't for Dwayne and Paul grabbing him, David would have fallen from the sky.

Maya was hurt. Someone was going to die.

As they flew over Santa Carla boardwalk a rush of fresh raw emotions flooded their brains. David closed his eyes for a brief minute as it registered whose emotions those were. This was not part of the plan.
