Summary

"You know what son?"

The man in his late fifties cut the young lad off guard...

"Sorry what?"

A loud chuckle escaped the older as he looks fondly at his growing boy...

"Well, I asked you if you know what..."

The elder repeated after his resounding chuckle session

"About what father?" The young lad answered in confusion

Laughing again, the elder points towards the scene in front

"I see you were pretty occupied some minutes ago..."

In realism, the boy smiled saying

"well, not never a time, has all this failed to remain astonishing father... Like every single bit of it all, is like a crazy myth..." The smile on the elders face remained bright as he watched his boy talked in all enthusiasm for like the thousandth time still...he still thinks of it all as a myth.

"Ermhm..."

The elder chokes out as he move forward, bringing the youngers attention fully to him... "You know what son? He asked for the second time

"What father?" The younger politely answered...

"This year marks the eighteenth long years of the legendary 'myth'" the elder said as he smiled looking away from the boy towards the scene...

Far down from the hill they stood on currently... Lies the vast land which was as wide as ever making the normal viewing range a lot harder to accommodate everything without moving along to catch it all. Such wide space abandoned as the hill in-between also created a physical barrier from the town above and further on. At the receiving end of all this space is the fresh peak of the town ahead... HAILING COVE... One of the most prestigious towns here in BEDFORD FALLS. And at the other side, up on the hill and distant away was another town...but not as large and big as the HAILING COVE...this one is a lot smaller and struggling.

Famously and Clearly known for its exceeding reach* in farming and food supplies, therefore is one of the major food and other produce supplying towns in BEDFORD FALLS... But even as successful as this town VINE VILLAGE is, the HAILING COVE could never request for supplies or interact with the VINE VILLAGE...as well as it also goes same with the latter.

Both towns never interacted or connected in any way even as wide as the space between them, they're supposed to be the closest neighboring towns amongst others in BEDFORD. No but the dispute dung in deeply into their soils had held them apart for years now...

"VINE VILLAGE x HAILING COVE used to be one town" the elder continued... alerting the younger to move further aligning his stance with him.

"Before the selfishly generated conflict between two rich families... Greed and cruelty caused the separation agreement and at some certain point...only the highly influenced figures were allowed to keep the town, sending the average ones off to fend for themselves... Although even with the biased nature of the majority... everyone remained put together...at least there was little conflicts here and there but what ignited the burning hate between the two tribes...was the death of one of the majority's son."

"What?" The young lad asks in disbelief...he had only heard the first part of the myth in his boring history class...

"That's right son..."

The older chuckled softly as he placed his hand on the youngers arm reassuringly

"See what a little misunderstanding could cause?"

"Then what happened after that father..?" The young lad's curiosity grew as he asked, excitingly for more unveiling truth his history teachers never taught.

"Well, things got real hard and sketchy between the two tribes after the mysterious death... causing the immediate speration into two distant villages/town...and since then, not even a single, trespassing or exchange had been recorded."

"Mysterious death?... please do tell father... what do you mean by that??"

"Well, the child disappeared one morning, no whereabouts...news... nothing untill days after his knocked out cold body was found lying lifelessly in the woods..."

"What? How- ...I don't understand-"

"None of us do son...I should stop here so you and your young mind wouldn't over think things again..." The older added

"But... please father, you can't stop now! I need to know-" the young lad pleaded with him...the whole thing just got interesting...he wasn't going to stop untill he had heard the whole thing...the only one time the lad has ever been interested in history.

"Well- what do you want to know son?" The older asked calmly staring in star eyes at his son...

"His age...how old was he father...the child before he died...can I know that?"

The older smiled lovingly, stepping away from the top hill and backing up slowly, all the way down back to where they dropped off...

"Eighteen years ago son... A sixteen year old boy died... Like a couple months from now would be the eighteenth year anniversary of his death..." He said as he listens to the sound of the youngers steps resounding along with his.

"Alas...he's was pretty young..." The younger comments meeting up the steps of his father as they both walked down the hill...

"But father..." He added and the older hums in reply

"Why hasn't anybody mentioned this...teachers, elders it isn't even recorded in history books... Why is that father ..?"

The older stopped in his tracks on hearing that and he turned towards the curious lad... "Well let's just say, it isn't something you should talk about or think about, it happened in the past and nobody knew how and what really happened to the boy...the two villages separated and the whole matter died down.. just like that." He answered as he walked off, leaving the lad deep in thoughts.

"Crazy..." He said to himself, thinking about the whole thing, 'the boy would have been grown up by now' he thought, 'eighteen years ago...1808... right? Such a long time back...wait...1808...a year before i was born??... coincidence??... wow'

"I wondered what happened to you..." He said to himself still thinking about the boy that died a year before he was born... and–

"WILLIAM?!!"

His name being called interrupted his thoughts

"COMING FATHER!!!..."

William shouted back, in response as he took to his heels towards his old man and their cart of various farm produce... Not withstanding, he turned to look back at the wide land...a big town with so many secrets...

"Come-on William...we don't have all day." His father said as they continued their journey back home.
