A/N- This is basically Ramen chefs and Others but with Fairy Tail characters instead. Might make similar fics for different anime later.

Rain Man- Naruto really needs to not be so dense.

Pairing- Naruto x Juvia

"Oi, Kurama! Where the hell did that hag drop us?"

"There's no chakra anywhere, ya know!"

"What's a fairy tail?"

"Do you want to join our family?"

"Phantom Lord has attacked us."

-The passage of time.

Naruto was walking along the quiet streets, his arms crossed behind his head. The young man had his head jumbled with all sorts of thoughts. His guild, Fairy Tail, had been attacked by their rival, Phantom Lord. And even if that weren't severe enough, those phantoms had injured three of his guildmates. Just the thought of that shitty guild filled Naruto with rage.

Fairy tail and its members were very important to him. It had been almost a year since he was dropped into this strange world, and nearly 11 months since he had joined Fairy Tail. And Naruto was glad about his choice. In the guild, Naruto experienced what it was like to have a family for the very first time. People who didn't care about his status, about Kurama, and just loved him like he was one of their own. He really felt at home whenever he was with his friends.

Which is why Naruto wanted to participate in their revenge on Phantom Lord, but Makarov-jiji had told him to stay back and protect the guild hall. While he understood the reasoning, Naruto didn't have to like it!

"Man, I wanted to clobber some Phantom losers, ya know?" Naruto grumbled, ignoring Kurama's chuckles from within.

"I'm sure you'll get your chance, Naruto." Lucy smiled at him. She was Fairy Tail's newest member, and Naruto greatly enjoyed irritating her. She was still new to his prankster attitude, which made for some hilarious reactions whenever he dyed her hair green.

Naruto grumbled some more but chose not to speak. He looked overhead, as the sky seemed to darken. 'Huh, didn't think it would rain today.' The atmosphere had suddenly turned cloudy, which made Naruto put up his guard. Rapid weather changes were never a good sign in his experience- damn Uchihas- and it never hurt to be prepared.

"Lucy, stay alert."

"Hmm." Lucy nodded, smart enough to not argue.

Just as the duo were about to round the corner, Naruto saw two figures appear from the darkness. One was a blue-haired girl carrying an umbrella, and the other was a green-haired man with weird glasses.

"Oi, what do you guys want!" Naruto yelled, abandoning all pretence of stealth. Better to get this over with.

The green-haired man chuckled at this voice. "Non-non-non, quite blunt, aren't you?" He sniffed, casting his eyes on Lucy. "I am Sol of the Element Four, and this madame here is our target, you see!"

Lucy perked up at the mention of her name. "Me? Why are you targeting me?"

"Who cares, ya know!" Naruto bellowed, narrowing his eyes at the duo. "Like hell, I'm gonna let you take Lucy!" Which made Lucy smile in appreciation.

The blue girl piped up. "And who might you be, mister? Our mission does not concern you."

On being asked who he was, Naruto changed his tune entirely. "Why, I'm glad you asked!" Naruto struck Jiraiya's signature pose, beginning a lengthy introduction. With a completely unnecessary shout, he was engulfed in a puff of smoke, only to emerge seated on a big blue toad.

The objective was two-fold; firstly to distract these people so that his clones could knock them out, and secondly, to make a majestic introduction!

"I am the Toad Sage! Ender of Pein! The Bane of the Akatsuki! Terror of the ramen merchants!" Naruto waved his hands around, just for the hell of it. These people were really weak, so he wasn't scared in the slightest.

"Then why must you continue this idiotic introduction?" Kurama groused, "Defeat them and get it over with!"

Naruto thought hard about why he was even bothering to do this dance in the first place. He could have killed them both before they could even blink, so why was he playing the fool?

He sheepishly looked at Kurama. "Ehehe, I never get to introduce myself these days, so I'm making the most of it!"

"…Why do I even bother?"

There was another reason why Naruto hadn't dismantled these two already. He got a feeling of intense loneliness from the blue girl, whatever her name was. It was just like what he had faced back in the village, before he found his precious people. Naruto guessed that in a guild such as phantom lord, there was no one she could call family.

He wanted to help her. Just like he had helped Gaara. She hadn't directly hurt them, and he didn't want to let anyone experience the crushing weight of loneliness again.

His clone had already transformed into Lucy, and the real Lucy had been safely escorted to her apartment. It had happened too fast for these people to even perceive.

Sol cut Naruto's thoughts off. "If you are quite done, you buffoon!" he harrumphed. Sol just wanted to take Heartfilia and be done with it, but this nameless loser was getting in the way! "Just surrender Lucy- gaah!"

His sentence was cut off when Naruto's clone chopped his neck from behind, knocking him out cold. The clone sighed in irritation. "Man, you sure talk a lot for someone so weak!" With that insult, the clone dispelled in a puff of smoke.

Juvia had observed the exchange in utter shock. She hadn't even seen him move! And were there two of him just now? Sol was down, so she had to complete her mission. Just as she was about to activate her water magic, she heard Naruto speak.

"This rain, is it some kind of technique?" Naruto idly looked to the clouds, not taking her seriously at all. What a strange jutsu.

Juvia shook her head. "It isn't. Juvia is the rain woman. She brings rain wherever she goes." Juvia took a deep breath, waiting for him to be weirded out by her ability. Everyone did. Then he would make fun of her, or he would defeat her. Her mind involuntarily flashed back to her childhood days, when all the kids bullied her for her gloomy mood and gloomier rain. This blonde mage would soon join in, she was sure.

"Hmm, I see. That's kinda cool, ya know?"

Juvia gasped. "Wh-what?" Didn't he think she was weird? He wasn't going to call her gloomy or teaser her? E-even all her colleagues in Phantom Lord made fun of her rain, only shutting up because they were scared of her power.

Naruto grinned, unaware of the effect he was having. "Of course it is! Weather control isn't easy." Naruto was now sure that this one wasn't bad. She just needed to be convinced to switch sides—something Naruto knew too well how to do.

"Say," Naruto began, "I really don't like hitting a lady, ya know? But if you want to fight, we can gladly fight!" He gave her a dazzling smile, which had won over many adversaries in the past. He had no problem hitting an enemy if they were a woman, but this girl didn't feel like an enemy. She just felt sad, and Naruto wasn't going to stand for it!

Juvia's cheek pinked at his smile. He… he was the first person who hadn't scorned her after learning about her ability. Now that she saw him again, he looked rather dashing… And he called her a lady! 'No!' Juvia shook her head, dispelling her thoughts. She had a mission to complete or else master Jose would get angry.

"Juvia is sorry, but Juvia can't afford to go back empty-handed."

Naruto frowned. She really wasn't lying. That asshole Jose must really be terrorizing this poor girl. That settled it then! He would save her, no matter what!

"Okay, if you insist." Naruto sighed, getting into a stance. He then disappeared from his place, faster than Juvia could see.

"I warned you." Juvia's eyes widened when she felt him appear behind her, fist raised in the air. He was simply too fast to react, and Juvia couldn't do anything to stop the incoming hit. Even if her body was water, a hit with enough force would have the same effect as a skydiver falling into the sea without a glider. It would hurt. So, she simply closed her eyes, preparing for the worst.

Pat-pat.

"Hweh?" Juvia squeaked in place at the sudden change of events. He hadn't punched her, slapped her or anything like that. He was just… patting her head? 'Am I going crazy?' Sure enough, Naruto was not hurting Juvia at all. He was simply patting the smaller girl's head and taking great joy in how soft her hair was.

Juvia got the message. He was fast enough to hurt her, but kind enough not to. She didn't know why, though. Weren't they enemies?

'His hand is so warm…'

The mind of a lonely girl worked into overdrive, trying to make sense of the situation. "He doesn't want to hurt me? He's so cool and kind! He's also very handsome. Do-does that mean that… he likes me?" This was nowhere near the truth, but a lot of good things had happened to Juvia in the last few moments. She had met this nice, strong mage who thought her rain was cool, and didn't want to hurt her. How chivalrous!

'Like a Knight!' Juvia's mind went off into dreamland, and she started swaying in place while holding her red face.

Naruto nervously watched the blue girl with a sweatdrop. "Eh-hem, Juvia-chan? You alright there?"

"…This is Hyuuga part two, isn't it?" Kurama muttered but was ignored.

Juvia snapped out of her daydreams, only to fall harder once she heard his caring words. "He called me Juvia-chan! And he asked if I was alright! Kya!"

Seeing as Juvia was heating up more, Naruto got worried. "Hey, do you have a fever or something?" He asked, getting more distressed when she didn't answer. Her face was extremely red, and she was shaking, unable to maintain eye contact with him. All of this pointed towards hypothermia! He knew that much from all the books Baa-chan made him read.

'Ah-ha! It must be a cold due to all this rain' Naruto stupidly reasoned, slapping a palm into his open hand. Determined t make sure she was okay, Naruto touched Juvia's forehead to check her temperature. "Hmm, the temperature is normal, so what's wrong with her?"

"Ha-hawawawa!" Juvia's eyes widened impossibly when her former enemy and recent object of affection touched his hand to her forehead. While his earlier headpats were from friendly cheerfulness, this act had a more… caring touch to it. Somehow through her red face, Juvia got a glimpse of the concerned expression on Naruto's face.

"He's worried about me? I mustn't worry him further! But-but, how can I keep calm when he's being so sweet and checking on my health? Aaaaaaa-" Juvia's mind worked at a speed which no sane person would, and ended up in overload. With a jittery giggle, Juvia fainted, straight into a worried Naruto's arms.

No normal person would fall in love this fast with another, especially an enemy. But Neither Juvia nor Naruto were normal. Both were scarred by an intense loneliness, and both were forced to adapt. It merely was, that one became oblivious to love, while another clung desperately to any hope for it.

It was a match made in heaven. And as Naruto fussed over Juvia who had a blissful smile on her face, neither knew that something beautiful was about to bloom.

"Be alert. The fairies are here."

After her embarrassing episode, Juvia had woken up to find herself being carried in Naruto's arms like a princess. She had been equal parts giddy and embarrassed, and had managed to shyly squeak out a question about their predicament. Naruto explained that he was taking her to the Guild hall to recover, and that he would save her from Phantom Lord. And then they would be a part of the same guild!

Which had been too much for her to process while in the arms of her hero. So, Juvia had bolted.

While Juvia did want nothing more than to be together with Naruto-sama, it was all happening too fast for her to make sense of it. And now, she was here in Phantom Lord, preparing for the fight with Fairy Tail again. She didn't want to, though. She just wanted to be with Naruto-sama!

CRASH!

Juvia tensed, preparing to fight. While she didn't with to fight Naruto-sama's friends, she doubted they would extend the same courtesy to her. So, she prepared to defend herself.

"There you are, Juvia-chan!"

At the sound of Naruto's voice, all hostility left Juvia and she ran towards the hole in the wall, from where Naruto-sama had entered. "Naruto-sama!" She giggled, already jumping towards him in a full tackle.

Naruto sweatdropped at seeing the flying girl coming towards him. He knew that Juvia wasn't hostile, but he wasn't expecting her to hug him immediately after she saw him! When Juvia had run away after she woke up, Naruto thought that she was too scared of Jose to take him up on his offer. And so, he had come to get her! Pursuant to this plan, Naruto caught the blue missile with open arms.

"Yo, Juvia-chan, missed me?" Naruto grinned, holding Juvia securely in his arms, completely unaware of the emotions bubbling up in the girl.

Juvia's eyes lit up when Naruto caught her, and she nodded rapidly. "Yep yep! Juvia missed Naruto-sama a lot!"

"Hehe, that's the sprit!" Naruto rubbed the back of his head, feeling rather sheepish for some reason. Hearing Juvia vehemently proclaim how much she missed him felt… nice.

Juvia giggled. "Naruto-sama, you're not going to fight me, are you?" Her voice tried to hide the apprehensions she held. There was no way she could fight Naruto-sama, and she would be heartbroken if he were to be hostile to her.

"Bah, enough with the -sama, ya know?" Naruto whined, "And of course I don't wanna fight you. I came to rescue you!" he declared, shifting Juvia so she was comfortable in his hold.

"Does the brat know he's still holding the girl? He hasn't put her down." Kurama chuckled mentally. It would seem that Naruto liked holding this blue brat. "Should I tell him? Nah, this is the most fun I've had in ages!"

This fact was noticed by everyone other than Naruto. That of course, included Juvia.

"Kya~! He's still holding me! He caught me, didn't let me fall, he came to rescue me and he's so sweet in taking care of me!" Outwardly, Juvia just squealed and hugged Naruto tighter.

Naruto found that he rather liked when Juvia-chan hugged him. He had been hugged only a handful of times in his life, but none of those hugs felt quite like this. 'Huh? Why do I feel butterflies?' There it was again, that giddy feeling he got when Juvia said she missed him. He didn't know what this was, but he wanted more of it. It was like the excitement he felt before a training session, but a bit different nonetheless. It was nice.

He wouldn't have it any other way.

"So now what?" Naruto dumbly asked, still holding the water mage in his arms. He made no move to let go.

"Hmm, should we leave this place? Juvia asked, still being held in his arms. She made no move to be let go.

"That's a great idea! You're so smart, Juvia-chan!" Naruto cheered, and headed towards the door.

"Ehe! Ehehe~!" Juvia blushed at the praise. She was still being carried by Naruto-sama, and she didn't want to ever move from his arms. When she had tackled him with that flying hug, Juvia had been at her most vulnerable. If he had let her fall, rejected her, she'd have been absolutely crushed. But he hadn't he held her, kept her safe, rescued her. And he still hadn't let her go.

She wouldn't have it any other way.

Neither of them knew how starved for affection the other was, but both of them was just what the other needed.

"So, the water girl has betrayed us after all!" Jose snarled, his broken form lying on the floor. Makarov had used Fairy Law and made short work of him. If his defeat weren't humiliating enough, a blonde from Fairy tail had walked in hand in hand with own troops were turning against him now!?

Juvia flinched at the accusation, her fear of the guild master resurfacing. "I-I didn't betray anyone. All of you were so mean to me, and I didn't want to be with the guild anymore!" she stuttered out, unable to look Jose in the eye. However, her unease vanished when Naruto gently held her hand in his, comforting her. She looked over to him, only to find him giving her a gentle smile, staring at her with his caring, beautiful blue eyes.

Jose who?

"You ungrateful shit!" Jose foamed at the mouth, making Juvia recoil in shock. "I gave you a roof over your head, gave you purpose, and you have the gall to betray me! You were a useless girl who could only make it rain. I made you stronger! And you dare turn against me!" Jose saw that his words were having an effect on Juvia and smirked in sadistic glee. "All you are is beca-hhhahahcck!" Jose trailed off with a laboured wheeze, unable to finish his insult. He was suddenly unable to breath, struggling to take in air with small, pathetic gasps.

Why the sudden trouble in breathing?

Because Naruto was standing on his throat.

"Oi, asshole." Naruto leaned down to Jose, his foot still crushing the Master's throat. "One more word from you, and I'll tear out your tongue!" Fairy tail had a no-kill rule, which Naruto wouldn't break. Jose would live without his tongue, though.

Kurama quirked an amused brow. "This level of anger, I've only seen it when someone close to him has been hurt." He thought back to Gaara hurting that pinky, or Pein hurting that Hyuuga. "Naruto, you haven't realized how attached you've gotten to this girl, have you?" Naruto always formed attachments very quickly. His crush on the pinky was merely because she'd paid him some attention during class. Kurama hoped this bluey would be better.

Makarov looked on at the scene alarmed. "Naruto, that's enough! You're better than this!" He didn't want to see one of his children fall to the darkness. Least of all Naruto, who had lived in it all along.

Naruto looked over at his guildmates, only to see them flinch at the absolutely murderous look in his eyes. It hurt him more than he cared to admit. They didn't fear him; they just feared what he might become. Sighing, Naruto reluctantly took his foot off Jose's throat.

"Heeeekh!" Jose gasped, clutching at his neck for some sort of relief. He was ignored for the most part.

"I'm proud of you, Naruto." Erza nodded in happiness. She knew that Naruto was better than this.

Naruto smiled at her. She had taken a big sister role for him since he had joined, and he cared about her a lot. It would have sucked to disappoint her.

"Naruto-sama," Juvia piped up, timidly coming to stand next to him. "Thank you for standing up for me." She looked down, acting uncharacteristically subdued. "No one has ever defended me before." A few tears dripped from her eyes, and she buried her head into Naruto's sleeve. For as long as she'd known, Juvia was always alone. People got along with her, but no one defended her so vehemently before. Naruto-sama was about to tear out a man's tongue because he insulted her. While any healthy individual would be terrified by this notion, neither of them were quite mentally stable. So, Juvia thought it was sweet and romantic. She would prefer him not to stain his hands for her, but the thought made her happy nevertheless.

Hearing that made Naruto's eyes soften in understanding. He was well acquainted with that feeling. Before Iruka-sensei, Naruto had not had anyone stand up for him before. It was a horrible emotion to experience, and he'd be damned if he let Juvia be lonely any longer. "I'll always defend you, Juvia-chan. Believe it." He wrapped an arm around the trembling girl, hoping to provide some semblance of comfort.

"Naruto-sama," Juvia looked at him with wide eyes, a heavy blush on her cheeks. Naruto looked to be surrounded by stars, snowflakes and whatever other mystical object her love-struck mind could conjure. He looked like a prince, who'd sworn to always protect her. How lovely! Her sadness long forgotten, Juvia happily snuggled into his embrace. "Hehe~!"

Erza coughed awkwardly from the side. "Umm, Master, should we… you know, do something?" She was getting second-hand cuteness from the duo tenderly embracing in front of her. While she wished Naruto nothing but happiness, a warzone was hardly the place to act so lovey-dovey.

"Haha! Let them be, Erza. It's the first time I've seen Naruto look so peaceful."

So they waited, until the authorities came and settled all the matters.

"That was a tough mission, wasn't it?" Naruto asked, as he and Natsu walked into the guild hall after a long day. The mission they had just finished wasn't tough because the enemies were strong- no one posed much of a challenge to Naruto nowadays.

It was because the mission was to find an artifact in a haunted forest.

"Brrrr, ghosts…" Naruto shuddered inwardly at the thought of that spooky forest. Why were there so many spiderwebs and smoke clouds in one place anyway? Was that even humanly possible?

"You're weird!" Natsu declared, "You kick the hell out of phantom lord, but you're scared of a spooky forest? What's that about, huh?"

"Oi, sparky, you wanna go?" Naruto lifted Natsu by his shirt, eye twitching.

"You're toast, ghosty! Let's fight!"

"Naruto-samaaaaa~!"

Before their scuffle could escalate into a property-damaging brawl, a gleeful voice interrupted the two men. Naruto looked towards the noise, not surprised at all to find Juvia flying towards them, or more specifically, towards him. Since Phantom Lord's defeat last month, Juvia had joined Fairy Tail because she wanted to be with Naruto, and vice versa. She'd gained a habit of tackling him whenever he walked through a door.

"Whoop!" Naruto dropped Natsu like a sack of beetroots, and moved to swiftly intercept Juvia so she didn't fall and get hurt. It was a routine for them by now- Juvia would jump to him and Naruto would catch her. While it might look weird to some, Naruto didn't mind.

It didn't even occur to him to ask Juvia not to tackle him every time she saw him.

"Yay, you caught me!" Juvia squealed, not doubting Naruto in the slightest. "Welcome back, Naruto-sama!"

"I'll always catch you, Juvia-chan!" Naruto grinned, and actually noticed Juvia's face burst into a full blush. He found it extremely adorable.

"Naruto, you might want to put her down. Poor thing's going to faint!" Cana snickered from the bar. This was too amusing to not tease them about.

"Ehhhh?" Naruto whined, still holding Juvia. "Do I have to? I like holding her, ya know?" he blurted out stupidly.

Density of a neutron star.

"Oh, Naruto-sama…" Juvia had hearts in her eyes, as her mind drifted off into happy fluffy dreamland. Even if she knew Naruto would never drop her, Juvia still depended on him catching her every time.

She herself didn't know it, but her tackling Naruto with a jump was an extension of her insecurities. It was like she was taking a literal leap of faith, hoping against all hope that the one she loved would accept her, catch her, protect her.

And he never disappointed.

He might be too dense to see that she loved him dearly, but that was of no matter! They weren't going anywhere, and Juvia resolved to make Naruto-sama hers! Juvia could sense that he was just as lonely as her, and she wanted to be there for him. To show him that she cared, that he was loved.

It didn't matter how long it took, she would always love and care for Naruto. Because he saved her from herself, and she would save him from loneliness in turn.

A/N-

Done!

Which pairing should I make next? I lately like short and sweet stories over long plot-based ones, so I'll make more of these. Might even continue this one.
