Magic comes at a Cost!

Remember he is human and his magic is limited by that. I got an idea from Young Justice and the Sentinels of Magic for this chapter.

After an hour of wandering Camp half-blood, after putting in his request for a steel sword and normal hoodie to be made for him by the Forge ( he left a letter, there had been no one home when he went), he felt it. "What is that?" He felt it, a rumble in the air, like magic surging forth, waves upon waves. Potent power, like the sea in a storm. He followed it, all the way to the bathrooms where he felt the presence of several powerful demigods. One of which was the one he felt before, the oceanic one. He saw a girl, massive and brutish, stuffing a boy's head into a toilet. She was laughing, as were the others whose auras were so similar to hers.

Anger filled him as she spoke. "Like he's 'Big Three' material, Yeah, right. Minotaur probably fell over laughing, he was so stupid looking."

Gathering and centering himself, he threw out his hands. "CONCIEO!" The girl, in one motion, flew away from the boy and slammed into the wall, just as he felt a drain on his powers and lifeforce. He would have swayed, having used so much strength, but anger fueled him. Before her idiot friends could stop him, he held out a hand and breathed out magic. "Incenida." Fire burst into existence. "Try me and I will light your hair on fire."A total bluff, but they did not need to know that.

The girl growled, struggling to stand, only for water to explode into existence from every toilet and shower head and sink, slamming into them all and dragging them away like pieces of trash. Even Aaron was soaked, but he somehow knew he was not covered in toilet water. He was stunned, feeling the waves of magic oozing off of the boy who was standing, eyes bright green and filled with righteous anger.

They walked towards the door as one and saw the ugly girl and her friends sprawled in the dirt. A bunch of other campers had gathered around to gawk, like the idiot girl deserved. She gave them a look of absolute hatred. "You are dead, new boy. You are totally dead, both of you!."

"You want to gargle with toilet water again, Clarisse? Close your mouth." The boy said, angry and cold.

Her friends had to hold the girl, Clarisse, back. They dragged her toward cabin five, while the other campers made way to avoid her flailing feet.

Aaron turned to the boy. "Nice to meet, you, name is Aaron Mathews."

He smiled. "Percy Jackon, what was that?"

"Magic, I'm a mortal witch and you are the strongest Demigod here, by miles. I can sense your aura, it's unlike anything I have ever sensed. I think I know who your dad is, if you do not know."

The boy went to say something, maybe beg for answers, but the girl behind him shouted. "Stop! You can't reveal his father's name, if his father is not willing to claim him and you do that you could be punished for it."

He grimaced. "Punished for revealing a child's father, that's... evil." He muttered. "Anyway, I need to go back to the Forges, but you seem cool Percy, I like a guy that can stand up for himself. If you wanna chat, come to me, kay?"

Percy bumped his fist and they separated, with a very wet Aaron moving back toward the forges. He made it there after a few minutes and saw a handsome, thicker, older black boy at the entrance. "Hello there."

"You left this letter?" He asked, his voice deep and rich.

"Yes, I did. I need those things as soon as possible, I need to bless them so that even a mere mortal like I can wield them against monsters."

The boy sighed. "My name is Charlie Beckendorf, call me Beckendorf. We rarely work with Steel and Silver, but I can do this. I won't have your death be on my conscious, you have to show me that spell to make things a weapon for mortals."

"Sounds great. What about that hoodie?"

"We have one woven out of something akin to Kevlar that should be in your size, come on, watch your step and don't touch anything." He walked into the forges, with Aaron following right behind. He found the warmth of the room comfortable after being soaked by Percy's powers. There were walls of things he barely knew of, forging tools and even a lawnmower, it was strange as hell. Eventually, he saw a literal forge where Beckendorf stood. "This will take me a few hours, my powers can bolster the process of making a sword from days to a few hours. Come back here in like three hours, and show me that spell, kay?"

"Sounds great."

"I will mix silver into the Steel, Silver channels magic best, so this should give you the best in terms of options. But first, let's go check out the hoodie, that we can bless now." They moved a little further back, to where there was a lovely black hoodie pinned to a wall. "What now?"

Aaron pulled out his dagger, his mortar, pestle and some herbs from his bag. He added sage, rose, and a few other things like rowan ash and salt. Then he pricked his finger and added the blood. Mixing it together, he felt the inherent magic rise in the substance, then while it was fresh he painted a sigil for strength and protection on the Hoodie. Then he put his hands just before the bloody sigils and focused, feeling the pull of lifeforce inside of him. "Infunde, praesidium ac robur quod dico!"

The magic surged and the sigils boiled away, their magic bleeding into the fabric which glowed a dull purple before fading away entirely. Shivering, he swayed, caught by Beckendorf. "Thanks." He told the boy.

"No problem, I remember when using my powers did that to me. As your lifeforce is empowered by magic, you will get used to that effect of magic. I can sense what you did, it's part of my powers, I am the son of Hephaestus and enchantment is something I am very familiar with. Next time, we will work together to cast the spell on your sword, kay?"

Smiling, he nodded. "Thank you, my friend. I wish I had something to channel, beyond herbs and my lifeforce, but I am not skilled enough to channel the sea or Mist or the sun or moon... that will come later when I can strengthen the spell. Right now these spells are only at their basic level since I am so new a mage...and mortal, so I have no ties or connections to risk that. And since I am mortal my magic is is really weak as is my lifeforce, since that is all I can channel."

"Impressive spell." Charlie said. "I'll keep it mind if we get low on weapons... now, why don't you rest, and ground yourself. We can work on everything else later. Take your hoodie with you."

Satisfied, he grabbed the hoodie and hobbled off. "Be back soon, thank you, Charlie."

And then he was gone, off to go rest for a few hours and recenter himself after practicing such strong magic for such a new witch. "I can make some spell bags, I am sure no one will mind if I borrow some herbs..."

Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.

This was a joy to write, I was really proud of this.

Magic comes at a cost, right now it is channeling his lifeforce but as a human his lifeforce is weak so he must channel other things. He cannot draw on too much less he burn out, so he has to work around things. He is no demigod...

Love, your Ninja Overlord,

Mika.
