Hi there, it's Leafstar15

Welcome to this new fanfic I'm trying out for Leverage: Redemption. I honestly love the show Leverage and this new series, so I wanted to try out a fanfic for it. Please bear with me, and I honestly hope you'll enjoy reading it. It's got some actual supernatural creatures in it that'll put a twist on this new case for the team. Anyway, enjoy!

With love from the stars

Trigger Warnings: Light mentions of rape/pregnancy cause of it, kidnapping, coyote attack,

The rich and powerful always take what they want with little thought to the lower class.

We provide... Leverage.

Sophie Devereaux: Grifter

Sophie Devereaux is the greatest actress you've ever seen, especially whenever she's breaking the law. She's been retired for the past eight years being married to one of the greatest masterminds there ever was, Nathan Ford. After his unfortunate passing, the team was able to get her back into the scene of grifting and being their new mastermind. Although she is still struggling with his death.

Alec Hardison: Hacker

Alec Hardison is a hacker extraordinaire, part of the original team. For the past eight years he, along with Eliot and Parker created Leverage: International where they help anyone and everyone all over the globe. He's recently been back with the team from being out of the states for lending his technical skills to various pro-democracy and humanitarian organizations around the globe.

Parker: Thief

Parker is the world's best thief ever, and also Hardison's girlfriend to boot. For the past eight years, she's been the mastermind of the job plus being a manager to other teams across the globe, when Sophie came back to the team Parker willingly gave up the mastermind position to her instead.

Eliot Spencer: Hitter

Eliot Spencer is a great hitter and is known across the globe by many. Despite having a tough exterior on the outside, once you get to know him better you'll know he's very intuitive and has a very gentlemanly side to him. For the past eight years in his spare time, he's been helping veterans and giving them jobs in his food truck chain, Brick Basil. The food trucks also serve as command centers for the team's jobs.

Breanna Casey: Maker

Breanna is Hardison's younger foster sister, and the team's new hacker and tech master. She may not be as skilled at hacking as her older brother, but she is a gifted engineer with a talent for physical builds. She's also great at social hacking and social media manipulation like no one's seen. She's also got the drive to learn other skills from the others on the team.

Harry Wilson: Fixer

Mr. Harry Wilson is a former lawyer who's worked on the wrong side for many many years, for quite a many shady people that the team targets. His wife and daughter have left him because of that line of work. Now he's looking for redemption for all the things he's done as a lawyer for the wrong people, and to become the father that his daughter can be proud of.

Fable Wolfrunner: Shifter

Fable doesn't know much about the outside world other than what she hears from the older shifters in their mix-shape clan. She lives on a reserve out in the middle of nowhere in Alberta, Canada in Bob Creek Wildland with a mix of other shifters in their clan. She's one in ten wolf shifters in the world, many of her kind have been killed off because of other humans. There are two other wolf shifters in her pack, while the rest are either black/ grizzly bears; foxes, cougars, golden eagles, lynxes, and coyote shifters. Fable also has a rare ability that lets her give a regular human the ability to shift into an animal of choice for 72 hours, how she does that by letting a human drink one drop of her blood and willingly letting it happen. They must also have strong willpower or else the animal spirit will take over and they'll be human no more. Fable is nineteen years old, with long greyish-silver hair and silverish-green eyes. There's also the fact that as long as you're part of the clan under the guidance of Dusty, you're part of their telepathic link to speak to each other in their animal forms.

*You see, the word and name 'shifter' means something special in Canada especially Alberta, Canada. These special humans who can shift into an animal are given a special role in the government, they are tasked with missing persons, murderers, and anyone else who's escaped into the wilderness where no logical canine would ever go especially on shifter territory, and find them. They are given their own land, aren't meddled with by the government, and are given nice-sized paychecks. Because 'any' type of work like that has its own dangers.*

Family is family, blood-related or not shan't matter only loyalty remains.

Dusty Wolfrunner (male)

Dusty is a cougar shifter and the leading alpha of the clan. He's forty-three years old with a military cut dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. He's the main person who takes care of and gives each member of the clan a job when they get one from the government.

*Along with bear and lynx shifters; cougar shifters are more known in the Canadian region. Most of the other shifters in the pack; like the wolves, foxes, eagles, and coyote shifters tend to stay with their own species unless certain circumstances happen and they no longer can do that. *

Vista Wolfrunner (female)

Vista is one of the other wolf shifters in the clan and is also Dusty's mate as well. She may be forty years old, but she looks like she's twenty. She has short black hair with light blue eyes. She tends to be with Dusty throughout the day but also takes care of the younger shifters. Or she's with the few elders of the clan discussing clan issues and other things along that.

Carey Mary Wolfunner (female)

Both Carey and Mary are fox shifters, and they're both identical twins. They were found by Vista when they were young and basically treat her as their mother. They both have long orange-tinged blond hair with dark blue eyes. They both just turned fifteen.

Niq (pronounced as Nick) Wolfrunner (male)

Niq is a grizzly bear shifter and one of the few elders in the clan. He's usually around giving advice to Dusty and Vista. He's continued to say multiple times that he's been around for quite some time, but still also says he's only sixty-five years old. So everyone isn't so sure of exactly how old he is. He has light hazel eyes and short greying brown hair.

Most bear shifters tend to stay alone or stay with their mates and don't join any clans. There are the few that join because they don't have those mates, and/or they get lonely from being on their own for so long.*

Lance Wolfrunner (male)

Lance is a lynx shifter and hasn't been with the clan for that long, just about two years he's been with them. He used to be a wanderer and wandered all over until he decided to join Dusty's pack. He's in his late thirties, to be specific he's thirty-eight years old, he has medium-length blonde hair and bluish-green eyes.

On a separate note, Lynx shifters are more known and widely spread throughout the Canadian region.*

Elle Wolfrunner (female)

Elle is one of the very few Golden Eagle shifters in the world, her kind used to be quite a few more than what it is now but humans have really killed off her species as a whole. She and her mate Jacob have been together since they were younger, they don't have any offspring as of yet but they're hoping though. She has medium-length brown hair with light hazel eyes. Her ancestors and now deceased relatives are from the Alberta region.

Jacob Wolfrunner (male)

Jacob is another Golden Eagle shifter. He and his mate Elle have been together since they were younger, and he cares very deeply about her. He has an almost military-cut style of brown hair and also very light blue eyes. He and his mate run a tech company that's mighty popular in Alberta because it gives internet and cell service to people who live in the middle of nowhere. It's called Running Wolf Tech LLC, and its motto is "We run to the people who need power." A couple of other clan members also help them out with the company. It runs off of solar-powered panels that are set up in trees that surround their little town if you can call it a town.

On a side note, usually, Golden Eagle shifters are known to have brown hair of different lengths and that same hazel eye color; usually light colored to it. The only reason Jacob's eye color doesn't match this is that his mother was human and he gained her blue eyes instead of the usual light hazel eye color. On another note, usually, Golden Eagle shifters turn out to be natives of the region they're originally from as well. Jacob's father is not from the Alberta region, although his ancestors were though.*

Jillian (Jill) (Hawkins) Wolfrunner (female)

Jillian was previously a human until she was bitten and forced to become a coyote shifter against her will. She had also lived in the States before she ran from the shifter who had turned her, which is when she discovered Dusty's clan and they welcomed her in with warm hearts and protective instinct's to protect newly turned shifters. The one who also turned her raped her, so she left while carrying a child. A few months later is when she gave birth to triplets, two boys and one girl. By then she was permanently part of the pack and there was a huge celebration when those kiddos were born.

The names given to the children were all decided by the clan, and these are their names in order from oldest to youngest; Shay (short for Shadow, male), Ian (male), and Nix (female). All three were born as coyote shifters, and all three kiddos are aged three years old. Jillian is thirty years old with short orange-tinged brown hair and green eyes.

Shay (short for Shadow)(Hawkins) Wolfrunner (male) - Oldest of the three siblings. Has redish-orange hair and light green eyes.

Ian (Hawkins) Wolfrunner (male) - The middle child, has the same orange-tinged brown hair as his mother but has more of amber-gold eye color.

Nix (short for Night)(Hawkins) Wolfrunner (female) - The youngest sibling; she has long black hair and green eyes like her mother.

Kate Wolfrunner (female)

Kate is a black bear shifter, and one of the other elders in the pack. She wandered into the clan around the same time as Niq, and she's also around the same age as well. She's sixty years old, with short greyish-black hair and piercing green eyes. She has a younger sibling who entered the pack with her.

Mint Wolfrunner (female)

Mint is also a black bear shifter and is the younger sister of Kate. She's roughly fifty-eight years old, and also has short greying black hair and the same piercing green eyes. She's quite shy but very protective of her new family.

Range Wolfrunner (male)

Range is the oldest of three coyote siblings, he and his brothers joined when they were teenagers but now they're in their early thirties if that. Range is thirty-two years old, with shaggy-looking brown hair and bright blue eyes. Range and his two brothers were part of a coyote pack, but they were exiled for something none of them did; to which they found Dusty and joined his clan.

Sam Wolfrunner (male)

Sam is the middle brother of the three siblings, and he's thirty years old. He has shaggy dirty blonde hair with bright blue eyes. He's the mischievous person in the group of siblings.

Rogue Wolfrunner (male)

Rogue is the youngest brother of the siblings and he's only twenty-eight years. He has short black hair and brilliant blue eyes. He's the shyest one out of the group of brothers.

Val Wolfrunner (male)

Val is a fox shifter and acts like an uncle to Carey and Mary. Or more like an older brother since he's only about twenty-six years old. He has silver hair with tinges of grey in it, with an orangish-yellow hue in his light hazel eyes. He's been with the clan for the past ten-plus years.

Tay Wolfrunner (male)

Tay is the third wolf shifter in the pack. He's around seventy years old, at least that's what the clan suspects kinda like Niq. He's been around for quite some time, they just don't know how old he actually is. He was dark grey hair, with mostly white eyes with specks of blue still lingering. He's pretty much blind, but can still see a little bit. He also advises the clan's issues and money management with Niq and Vista.

Fen Wolfrunner (male)

Fen is a grizzly shifter, and he's twenty-seven years old with brown hair and light green eyes.

Eli Wolfrunner (male)

Eli is a cougar shifter who's thirty years old and has dirty blonde hair and one blue and one green eye.

Fae Wolfrunner (female)

Fae is a lynx shifter and she's forty years old. She has short black hair with red eyes. She helps Jillian out by keeping an eye on her kiddos.

Pine Wolfrunner (male)

Pine is also a black bear shifter, he's twenty-four years old. He has short black hair and dark brown eyes that look almost black.

Their little town is basically the Clan house where Dusty lives with Vista, a small market building that's owned by Kate and Mint; and the main office building for Running Wolf Tech LLC, some other businesses, and some houses for the Clan members. There's also a small lodging for guests who tend to pop up in their area, that's owned by Val and that's called Wolf Inn. Fae owns the only little restaurant in town with the help of Carey and Mary, and it's called Silver Spices. There is a small clinic that's run by Fae with the help of Rogue and Sam, and its name is Silverwood Clinic. Other than those few businesses, everyone else helps out where they can. They don't really exchange much money with each other because why bother when it's just the twenty of them as a clan. They just put money forward when they need more items for their businesses or for their own homes.*

Prologue

Case Done and Suddenly Stranded in a Forest?

The team's case was officially over and they were heading out of Canada as fast as they could drive within legal limits that is. Granted it was a back road that hardly anyone ever used, but it was very likely that they may come across the Mounties. Nobody on the team wanted to accidentally come across those guys. Especially like that one recent case they did. Luckily though those Mounties never even saw them, so that was alright. Suddenly their vehicle started to slow down.

"Elliot, why are we slowing down?" Sophie asked quietly.

Everyone's eyes turned towards her and Elliot who was driving the food truck back toward the States.

"Honestly Sophie, it could be anything with this vehicle. Oil change, a flat tire which I doubt. I'm not usually driving one of my food trucks, so I'm not a hundred percent sure why." he muttered softly with a bit of edge.

Parker smirks, jabbing Elliot in the side.

"Parker would you stop that?" he bit out.

"Heh, why should I? Jabbing you is so fun," she says glancing over at Breanna and Hardison.

Breanna mouths 'Don't get me added to this conversation.' Meanwhile, Hardison grins softly and gives Parker a quick thumbs up before Elliot might notice.

They continue driving a little longer until a loud bang sounds from in front of them. Elliot slowly maneuvers the truck to the side of the road. He slides out of the driver's seat and walks to the front of the truck and opens the hood. The team all gets out of the food truck and stands around Elliot as he tries to figure out exactly why the vehicle stopped working.

"Why is there no service out here?" Hardison whines all of a sudden.

"Brother, there is some service out here," Breanna says. "Look."

Breanna moves closer and shows Hardison her little tablet which proves that there was indeed a single source of any type of service out here. It's quite odd that there's any type of service out here Breanna thought. We are legit in the middle of nowhere, so why exactly would there be any service? Even my phone says that there's no service out here, at least none that she can connect to.

Hardison hums softly in thought.

"That is quite odd indeed. I wonder if there's some rich tycoon out here living the life," he says.

"Ooh. I wonder if there's a secret vault I can discover and steal from." Parker says excitedly.

"Babe, this source of service is like ten miles from where we're standing right here. I doubt you'd want to hike the thirty miles through this forest, where there are many dangerous creatures that might kill and eat us. I'd rather stay on the road." Hardison says.

"Hardison's got a point, but are we just going to stay on the road where a Mounty could come across us? I'd rather not get arrested today, especially on our way home from this case." Sophie inputs.

As the team talks and chats about what to do, Elliot finally closes the hood and turns to everyone. Instantly all eyes are on him.

"Our engine went out, that's the reason we're here on the side of the road. Turns out that this particular truck actually needed a new engine but no one decided to let me know so we could get it replaced before something like this happens." Elliot tells everyone, sending a death stare toward the ground instead of at his friends.

'Isn't that a problem then? I may not know much about engines, but we're stranded until we figure out what to do aren't we?" Harry breathed.

"You said it, not me," Elliot replied quietly.

Sophie started pacing back and forth, a plan was slowly starting to form in her mind. They were going to have to hike those thirty miles to whoever's house it was, find a way to get their help to get a new engine, and then go home. And maybe, hopefully, take down whoever this rich person might be in the process depending on what terrible ideas or plans they had.

"Alright everyone, I think I've got a plan of sorts. Although, you're probably not going to like it, Hardison." Sophie announces to the team.

"This'll be interesting," Harry muttered softly.

"We're going with Parker's plan."

"What?" Hardison exclaims. "We're seriously going to go through the forest for thirty whole miles?"

"What're you scared of Hardison? Getting a little sweat? Actually going on a hike for ten miles?" Elliot smiles softly while poking at Hardison's ego.

"I remember that time we were 'supposed' to go fishing, and I kept denying and look where we ended up with that situation," Hardison replies.

"Don't give me that nonsense, you loved it didn't you?" Elliot breathes back.

"Gentlemen. Let's not focus on the past please." Sophie states, her voice letting out a small tremble or two at the smallest almost mention of Nate Ford her deceased husband.

"Yeah, brother. Let's focus on the present." Breanna says softly, nudging her brother in the side.

"Yes!" Parker exclaims. "I'm looking for a secret vault!"

Everyone watches Parker, well-being Parker for one. Breanna starts moving back into the food truck to the back of it where their 'command center' was, and grabbed her backpack that had some of her gadgets in it. While she was in the back grabbing that, she spied Parker walking quickly through to grab her backpack which obviously had her favorite gear inside it. Parker certainly looked extremely excited to be hiking through ten miles of a heavily wooded forest. Lifting the backpack onto her shoulders, Breanna climbed out of the food truck and stood near Elliot who still was leaning up against the hood of the truck.

Elliot glanced over at Sophie and her attire.

"Are you going to be okay hiking in those?" Elliot asks slowly.

Sophie looks down at her heels and thinks for what seems like a minute when in reality it was just a few seconds. She slowly lifts up one foot and puts it back down onto the ground with a clack.

"Elliot, I'll be fine. You obviously don't know me. If I can run in heels, surely I can hike in heels." Sophie replied back warmly.

Once everyone looked like they were ready, Elliot led the way into the forest with no weapons in sight. Sophie was right behind him, slowly making her way. Breanna and Hardison were right behind her, talking about directions and what path might be best. Parker was in line right behind them with a smirk on her face, and excitement building in her eyes for she couldn't wait to touch that safe and unlock it. Harry was trying to keep up with them, muttering to himself "Should've worn sneakers and not my regular shoes." Or something along the lines of that.

Meanwhile, thirty miles into the forest was a little town unbeknownst to the world or even to the Leverage team. It was called Wolfrunner.

At this exact moment, the entire town was somewhat in chaos. One of their younger children was missing since three days ago, and they haven't been able to find her since. No scent trail, no nothing. Everyone has been looking in circles, camera's haven't caught anything. They're not sure what exactly happened, except that it may be what tips the scale to the other side of matters.

Four days ago, before the child went missing they got an offer for their property. More specifically, to take control over the land that was given to them by the government. They were offered quite a bit of payment for the land, and if they weren't going to take the offer then something bad was going to happen. Part of the letter was a threat, but no one knew that they were serious about the threat.

Everyone in the clan was on high alert, about half of the clan were in their other forms so they could continue trying to find the poor child. Trailing after scent trails, hearing for anything different or suspicious.

That was when Fable faintly heard the sound of people talking, and vaguely heard the sound of growling and swishing ferns.

A yell was heard, and she moved quickly and quietly through the brush as she gained distance to where the noise came from. Suddenly she stopped and became deathly still as she watched the scene unfolding in front of her.

There were six humans, one who was laying on the ground with his right arm in front of him as there was a large coyote that had its fangs latched onto that same arm. The one on the ground looked like he was in pain, but that pain wasn't showing on his face. His face remained blank and still as if the pain wasn't there, to begin with. Glancing at the man's companions that were obviously following him through the forest, none of them were equipped with the right gear for them to survive in the forest.

That's quite odd Fable thought quietly to herself. The wind changed direction so that the scent of the humans and the coyote drifted downwards to her location. The scent of the coyote was like hers, it was a shifter like she was. Although she could tell that it didn't have any reason left, no human thoughts or emotions, or else why would it attack humans? That meant that this shifter had gone rogue, it no longer had human empathy.

I should let Dusty know at once she thought.

'Dusty, can you hear me?'

Hearing a yawn through the connection, a deep voice replied 'Yes Fable, I can hear you loud and clear. What's going on?'

'I've found a rogue about twenty-plus miles from where our clan has settled.'

'What type of rogue? Or creature I mean?'

'A coyote, Alpha. And it's got its fangs sunk into a human's arm.'

'Be there shortly with backup. Do what you have to do Fable. Just don't reveal that you're a shifter like the law dictates.'

Fable nods, then remembers he's still waiting for an actual reply since he can't see her nod through the connection.

'Of course Alpha.'

'One more thing before we disconnect, call me Dusty like usual Fable. You know how much I hate being called Alpha. We're a clan, not a pack.'

'Yes, Dusty.'

We both disconnect from our telepathic conversation, as I continue to watch what was going on. The five humans were still looking quite distressed from what was going on, but I caught a scent of something metal with electricity in it. Hmm, I bet it was a taser or something along the lines of that. Not a half-bad idea to use it against a wild animal, but then again you might just piss off the creature you're trying to get rid of as well. It just as well I should step in because since this wasn't just a regular wild animal but a rogue, it wasn't going to end well if someone was going to try and taser it.

I growled loudly and stepped out from underneath the ferns I was hiding under. I could see the five humans who were looking at the coyote turn to look at me, who was equally as big if not just a tad smaller in size. One of them gasped in surprise or awe, I wasn't sure which.

I moved forward slightly, and the coyote still wasn't paying attention to me at all. All of its attention was on the human who it had its fang sunk into. Lifting my nose slightly, I could scent the smallest of hungriness that drifted off of it. Sure I get what it's like to be hungry, but the law states for any shifter to never ever attack a human because our kind may be found out.

Lowering my head, my lips curled back as a deep snarl sprang forth from my throat. Crouching a bit, digging my claws into the barren earth as I sprung forth and tackled the coyote knocking it over as it let go of the man's arm as my paws hit it on its flank. We tumble away from the humans for a good few feet. I nimbly land on my paws while the coyote, unfortunately, collapses onto the ground in front of me. It scrambles up onto its paws facing me with its curled lips showing its bloodied fangs. I curl my lips once more and show the coyote my fangs. I give a quick glance over my shoulder to see a couple of the humans surrounding the man who was still on the ground, while the one holding the taser was standing patiently in front of them as a precaution for defense.

Turning my head back around to fully give my attention to the coyote, I gave it a death stare despite knowing that it wouldn't matter. By the end of the night, there was only going to be one of us left standing.

I kept my back facing the humans as the two of us slowly half-circled each other. I should end it, so this coyote doesn't suffer anymore.

We both stopped and stared quietly at each other, then we both sprang at each other. The coyote had murder in its eyes, while mine just had its usual sparkle of intelligence. As we got closer, I dodged and went under its stomach while it continued to soar slowly over me. I turned swiftly on my paws and before the coyote knew what hit it, I latched my fangs into the side of its throat along with my claws. We both fell to the ground, the coyote was underneath me struggling to free itself from my grasp, as I held still and tore at its throat while I still had it in my fangs holding it still.

Few minutes later the coyote grew still, and I watched from the corner of my eye as its life slowly drained away and it died. It was a struggle to bring this guy down, but at least he or she should be at peace now. I let go and turned towards the humans. They were staring at me, and if I was in their shoes at this moment in time I'd just stare as well.

I took a few paw steps away from the dead corpse, I turned around twice and laid down right in the same spot I was at. I laid my head down and gently stared at the humans again. My ears flicked backward as I could hear Dusty and a couple more coming closer.

They had only gotten perhaps ten miles into the forest when out of nowhere this large canine jumped out of the brush and latched itself onto Elliot's arm making him fall backward. The rest of the team stumbled back, muttering and gasping out startled and a little scared. None of them had ever been attacked by wild animals before, so no one knew what to do. For all they knew, there could be more of them waiting for the right moment to pounce.

Parker slid her right hand into her pocket and lightly squeezed the taser that sat inside. If it had to come to it, she'd try to taser the damn creature.

Hardison gripped Breanna's arm tightly and slowly pushed her behind him, right afterward Harry did the exact same thing with her. Breanna kept quiet and still because this was the first time she ever saw such a large animal that wasn't at a zoo behind fencing where it couldn't and wouldn't attack anyone.

Sophie on the other hand was actually a little shocked that Elliot could be attacked so easily, granted she knew it was a wild animal but still never would've thought he'd actually let himself get attacked. Then it hit her, if he had moved to try and attack it himself; Sophie herself would've been attacked herself. Elliot really does surprise her sometimes she thought.

As soon as the coyote had attacked Elliot he let out a single yell of surprise, as he fell backward onto the ground.

"Guys," Elliot breathes quietly. "Don't do anything rash until one of us thinks up a better plan than what Parker might be thinking with that damn taser."

"How'd you know?" Parker says smirking.

"I know you really well, you know."

Just then everyone, including Elliot noticed a large white canine come out of the brush. They weren't sure if the new creature was with the one that currently had Elliot's arm in its jaws until they watched as it sprang at the one that was over Elliot and pushed it off of him. Both creatures tumbled away from the team. That was when Sophie and Hardison crouched close to Elliot and tried to see what they could do to help him, Parker on the other hand moved in front of them and had her taser out in front of her. She was prepared to attack if necessary if one of the creatures dared to come closer to them, regardless of if the white creature looked to be on their side.

They continued to watch as the white creature moved in front of them, and kept the other canine in front of it. Apparently, this white creature was indeed on their side, granted no one knew why it was. They all thought that perhaps it was kept as a pet and was supposed to protect people here in the forest just in case of unknown visitors.

They watched as the two creatures fought, leaving the white creature the winner while the other died in its grip. The white creature moved away from the corpse of the other and laid down watching them as they watched it. They all breathed out a small sigh of relief, knowing that this white creature didn't seem like it was going to attack them.

Parker saw its ears twitch backward as if it heard something coming closer to them, and she figured that it was probably a human being considering it wasn't in an attacking position or protective position. They would soon find out how right she was on that.

The team didn't know it then, but they were going to be pulled into a huge annoying case that would put some of them through the wringer. Will that be a good thing or a bad thing? (Read on if you'd like to know.)

Hiya everyone,

It's Leafstar15. I seriously hope that y'all liked it. I hoped I got a little bit of everyone's personality in there, even if it's just a little bit. And I also hope you'll continue reading it and bearing with me (lol). Anyway thanks for reading my new fanfic. Have a great day :)
