Hello! This is my second-ever story. This one is shorter, and should only be three chapters long. Yes, I'm still working on The Reign of King Ghidorah. The next new chapter and the rewrite of an old chapter are still in progress. This story mainly focuses on Margygr and to a lesser extent Godzilla. Margygr is an interesting Titan in my eyes, and this is my interpretation of her, along with her story. This fanfic is a bit of a prequel to The Reign of King Ghidorah, although it mainly focuses on one Titan. The next chapter of this should be posted relatively soon, as I'm already halfway through writing it.

South Atlantic Ocean, Somewhere Near South America

Margygr swam through the water with all haste.

She had to catch up to her prey.

Her purple scales glimmered brightly this close to the surface.

Then, her target suddenly turned left. She was surprised by the sudden turn, but due to her current speed, she couldn't make the turn as easily.

Although, she quickly realized why her prey turned direction.

It wasn't just an attempt to escape.

The whale had led her into a trap.

Margygr's black eyes widened in shock. She was heading straight towards a seamount.

Oh crap! Stop! Stop!

Margygr's muffled cries of panic did nothing to slow her speed.

Her purple fins were now moving as quickly as she could make them move.

Yet, despite all her efforts to slow down, it wasn't going fast enough.

The small Titan crashed headfirst into the seamount.

A loud yet muffled sound echoed through the ocean. With it, an unmistakable rumbling sound vibrated across the ocean floor and through the blue liquid.

Margygr groaned in pain, moving one of her front fins to rub her head.

The impact with solid rock left her dizzy and confused.

Her armored scales made sure that she didn't suffer any physical damage. Maybe a few scratches, sure, but besides that, she would be fine.

Her jaws stayed open, showing her multiple sharp, white teeth.

How in the world was I bested by a whale? Her words were hers alone. Nobody else was around to hear the muffled underwater sounds.

Whales are smart, yes, but smart enough to trick a Titan? There's no way those animals are that smart.

Maybe this one just got lucky.

That's probably it. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

With her hunt ruined, the small Titan turned around and swam away from the seamount. Said underwater thing now had a large chunk missing out of the top, clearly showing that something hit it a high speed.

As Margygr swam through the ocean, she couldn't help but groan in frustration. Just swimming was boring.

There isn't much else to do.

Then again... She could do what Manda does.

Heh... Playing in the ocean. Maybe that serpent has a good idea for once.

However...

Margygr had no idea where to even start.

She has been alive for a long time now.

Millions of years alive, and she has no idea how to do something playful.

Sure, she probably did something when she was younger. All younger kaiju usually do something fun or playful.

Yet, she couldn't remember.

Well, she doesn't know much about her childhood anymore. It's all time long past, things that happened long ago.

Of course, she remembers basic survival and lesson she's learned from experience or her parents, but that's it.

She's seen Manda plenty of times before. He's the only individual of the Water Serpents she's ever run into. Either Manda is the last of his kind or she has just never seen another individual of his kind.

Manda does roam these waters occasionally. Then again, so do a few other aquatic Titans.

There aren't many solely aquatic Titans.

Na Kika can never leave the ocean.

The same goes for Leviathan. He can't go onto land either.

Her kind can't either.

Strangely enough, Gezora can temporarily go onto land, but he hardly ever does so.

Manda has legs and can walk on land just fine. He's just much more vulnerable and slower up there.

Tiamat can breathe on land, but she is so sluggish and out of her element and she nearly never does onto solid ground, or at least not willingly.

Margygr has been stuck on land before.

She got beached after getting tossed around by a storm of waves and wind.

The storm left her stranded on the sand.

She ended up having to call out for help.

All it took to get her back into the water was Gojira picking up the smaller Titan in his arms and putting her back into the water.

Yet, she couldn't ever forget that incident.

Being on land was not the mesmerizing experience she dreamed it would be. No, it was instead an absolute nightmare. She was unable to move at all.

Her long light purple fins were completely useless.

Her tail fin could only move around with purpose, digging a hole in the sand.

The sun beat down on her head and back.

Margygr always wondered what being on land would be like.

It had never once occurred to her that it would be that terrifying for an aquatic creature.

After that incident, she never wanted to be outside of the water ever again.

She still looked at beaches often, this time from the comfort of the blue ocean.

The yellow sand does look beautiful.

The trees and grass beyond it. In her youth, she was much smaller and more naïve, she wanted to feel what grass is like, to see up close what trees are.

The foolish dreams of a child. Being on land is just not a good idea at all for her.

With any luck, it would never happen again.

Then, the purple swimmer could see a large group of fish swimming nearby.

Would it be the best meal? No. She'd rather eat a whale or find a good source of radiation.

Either way, she won't pass up an opportunity for food, even if it is small.

Ugh. Fish... Why are whales so hard to catch sometimes?

Margygr turned, her long front fins moving gracefully through the water, pushing her ever forward.

The fish quickly noticed the approaching Titan.

Even if Margygr is on the small side when it comes to Titans, she is still bigger than all normal creatures.

The kaiju opened her mouth wide, exposing a lot of white sharp teeth.

While some of the fish at the edges managed to scatter, the majority would not get away.

In one giant bite, she caught most of the fish. She chewed them down with her various teeth.

The taste of blood and flesh rolling over her tongue is what she savored.

This kind of fish. Somehow, it's a species she prefers. Lucky.

As she swallowed the last of the morsels, her eyes scanned the surrounding area. The remnants of the school had gathered up in a bunch again.

They were quickly swimming away. They may not be smart, but every animal has basic survival instincts. For these fish, that means swimming away and scattering.

Yet, safety in numbers does not matter if the predator can eat most of the school in one giant bite.

A content rumbling sound emanated from her throat.

Yes, today hasn't been great, but eating that food has lifted her mood.

The only thing that would make this better would be a source of radiation.

Margygr doesn't directly consume sources of radiation. Instead, simply being near a potent enough source of it allows her body to naturally, yet slowly, absorb it.

Even just peacefully being in the presence of Gojira gives her some much need energy in the form of radiation.

Yet, the Alpha was never fond of having company.

She was always forced away on the tiniest of issues.

Fin brush against his side? Leave.

Made a sound that was too loud? Leave.

Accidently swim in front of him? Leave.

Trying to start a conversation? Leave.

She never understood why he is so lonely, or so distant.

More oxygen was filtered into her system through her gills.

That sensitive part of her body is one of the few areas not covered by her strong purple armor. Gills aren't as resistant to damage as scales.

Then, she felt something. Something great.

It was faint but unmistakable.

Radiation.

Not far off, she could see an underwater mountain of fire.

Smoke is pouring out of the top, rushing to the surface.

Lava cooling instantly as it tries to flow out.

Most importantly, she can sense an abundance of radiation. It's practically brimming out of this mountain of fire.

She could bet that if this place wasn't under the ocean then a Volcanic Bird would surely nest here.

The sight she saw next made her inwardly groan. Her eyes were partially closed, mostly out of annoyance.

Ebirah.

Why the hell is that idiotic lobster here of all places? Margygr just couldn't believe her good fortunes had turned this quickly.

She despised Ebirah. And Ganimes. And Tiamat. And Na Kika.

Actually... She's not even on speaking terms with most aquatic and semi-aquatic kaiju.

It is partially her fault.

She just doesn't care about others. Only herself, for the most part.

Right now, the Giant Lobster is standing on the seafloor near the underwater rock formation.

He appears to be content with standing there.

Blissfully unaware of his surroundings as he absorbs radiation from the erupting mountain of fire.

He's facing away from her, looking off in the opposite direction.

The giant red kaiju snaps his claws together. A small motion just for the sake of moving.

Ebirah is not the brightest Titan, nor is he very powerful.

He is cowardly, weak, and above all fears Godzilla.

Margygr snarled. Her mouth partially opened, she could already imagine sinking her teeth into Ebirah's red shell.

Yes, there's plenty of radiation to go around, based on what she's sensing.

Yet, she won't do that.

Survival is a reward only the strong reap.

The weak perish and wither out.

Ebirah would either flee or see this as the last day of his pathetic life.

Either works.

However, if the yellow-eyed lobster dies, she would get an astounding meal that would last for a while.

No matter what, one thing is certain. Margygr is going to fight.

North Africa, Somewhere in Modern Day Algeria

Gojira roared in anger at his opponent, his golden yellow eyes showing nothing but anger and hate.

He was beyond angry.

In this state, not even Mosura would be able to calm him down.

Despite facing down the King of the Monsters himself, his opponent refused to back down.

Bravery or stupidity.

Either way, this bully would be put in his place.

Godzilla roared fiercely and began to charge toward his opponent.

Yet, his enemy predicted the action.

Gorosaurus dodged the charge, sidestepping the Alpha.

From there, he turned and bit down on Godzilla's exposed neck.

Gojira cried out in pain, now only even angrier.

Gojira backed up, pushing his dorsal plates into Goro's chest. This quickly got Gorosaurus to lose his grip, sending the dinosaur-like kaiju stumbling back.

With several cuts running into his chest, the blue kaiju was now only more determined to win this fight.

He loathed the King for interfering.

All he was doing was beating up a weaker kaiju.

As for the defender, Gojira now had blood staining his dorsal plates, courtesy of his unorthodox move against Goro.

Yet, the bite on his neck hurt badly.

Gorosaurus must have hit one of his gills, as the area stung endlessly and agonizingly.

Behind Godzilla, a worried chitter came from the kaiju the Alpha came here to aid.

Alpha! Are you alright?

Megapede was concerned. This fight was not going either way, but seeing how his savior was injured didn't help his worried mood.

Godzilla briefly turned back to the larva he came here to defend.

His yellow eyes softened for a moment.

The small caterpillar kaiju was worried about him. Genuinely concerned. Touching. Yet, sentimentality wouldn't win this fight.

Megapede is far too vulnerable in his larval form to be of any use.

Goji was lucky that he arrived when he did. Any later and the insect would have been gravely injured by the larger Titan.

The moment of distraction proved that one couldn't look away from their opponent.

Gorosaurus had leaned back on his tail and sent a powerful kick into Gojira's chest.

Godzilla cried out in pain, the massive hit sending shocks of pain throughout his chest.

He grimaced, glaring daggers into his enemy.

Submit now, and I'll pretend this altercation never happened, Gorosaurus.

He didn't expect the other kaiju to listen.

Gorosaurus was nothing but a troublemaker.

Megapede looked very different, but the insect kaiju being in his larval form reminded him of another one he held dear. One of his only friends in the world. Mosura.

The larva he was defending doesn't exactly look very cute, but being a small larva makes anything adorable, at least in the eyes of the fully-grown Divine Moth.

Gorosaurus charged forward once again, a roar echoing through the air.

Godzilla met the roar with one of his own, and the two Titans collided.

Goro pushed hard, halting his foe and pushing him back.

Then, the blue allosaurid kaiju turned away from the Alpha.

From the sidelines, Megapede watched in confusion. What is he doing?

Then, the realization dawned on the larva. He cried out, a panicked sound escaping his mandibles. Gojira! Watch out for his tail!

Godzilla turned to look. He snarled, realizing that his foe was attempting.

He knew what to do.

When Goro attempted to strike with the spiked tip of his tail, Godzilla reacted.

The spike didn't penetrate Godzilla's side.

Rather, the Alpha bit down on the limb hard.

Goro cried out in pain, struggling to break free.

Gojira swung hard, tossing Gorosaurus away from himself and Megapede.

As his foe rolled along the ground, a cloud of dust and sand was kicked up.

Godzilla scanned the area. His yellow eyes were looking for Gorosaurus, but he couldn't see him.

There was too much sand in the air.

Then, he could hear a whizzing sound, along with an angry call from Megapede.

His eyes barely registered something flying by his field of vision. They were moving very fast.

All of a sudden, Goro emerged from the cloud of sand, crying out in pain once more.

Several poisonous barbs were lodged into his side. He tried to use his claws to pull them out but to no avail.

Turning to look, Gojira was shocked to see that Megapede had angry look on his face, his red eyes narrowed.

The caterpillar was brandishing several poisonous barbs and looked ready to release another volley at the one who tried to kill him.

Then, a low rumbling sound could be heard.

The dorsal plates at the edge of Godzilla's tail began to glow a distinct and recognizable blue.

Slowly, more and more dorsal plates began to glow the same color. Then, his eyes turned the same shade of blue.

Godzilla opened his jaws wide and fired his atomic breath at the weak kaiju he was fighting.

Goro cried out in utter pain. He collapsed to the ground, the injuries and exhaustion of the battle overcoming him.

The allosaurid kaiju breathed heavily, his eyes briefly looking at the winner of this fight before they closed completely.

Godzilla stood where he was, panting.

Gorosaurus may not be the most powerful kaiju, but the blue animal gave him a beating.

Mosura could easily heal the injuries Goro inflicted.

The King of the Monsters turned towards Megapede.

He leaned down, much closer to the ground than he usually goes.

Megapede looked at him cheerfully, a cooing sound coming from his mouth.

Then, he suddenly jumped forward, rubbing his head against Godzilla's snout. Thank you!

Gojira inwardly chuckled. He was simply glad to have helped this kaiju. Normally, he doesn't care about the fate of individual kaiju. However, with most species having been pushed to the brink of extinction, he's been forced to break up fights now more than ever, in a bid to try and ensure as few deaths as possible among all the kaiju on the Surface.

Gorosaurus might wake up. Might. Depends on if he'll let Mosura heal him once she eventually shows up.

If he does survive this, then the blue kaiju should know his place.

As if on cue, he heard a chittering sound coming from the sky. Aww! Goji, you look so cute with Megapede nuzzling you!

Megapede turned to look, his red eyes blinking. Mosura! Good to see you!

Godzilla, slightly embarrassed from having been caught like that, turned to look at the flying moth.

Mothra landed gracefully on the ground, inspecting the scene.

Megapede looks fine, the larva being virtually untouched.

Gojira looks worse for wear. His dorsal plates are covered in blood, he looks in a bit of pain with every breath, and his neck is the sight of a recent bite wound.

Gorosaurus is worse off. He's unconscious. He has bite marks on his back and tail. Blood flows freely from various gashing wounds, no doubt the work of Goji's claws.

His side also appears to be slightly burnt, covered in black evidence of a blast of atomic breath.

Goji, as soon as I'm done healing you and Goro, we have to leave. Immediately.

He recognized that tone. She's worried.

He questioned her. Mosura wouldn't be concerned for no reason.

Megapede looked concerned too at her words. His red eyes looked between Godzilla and Mosura.

He did briefly wonder if his Imago form would be as good as Mosura's adult form. He is a Giant Cicada, not a Divine Moth. He has never seen an adult of his kind. He knows the two species are vastly different, but one can hope.

The next words she said made him worried. Yet, the problem is out of his mandibles.

That is a problem for Godzilla and Mohra to worry about.

I sensed a fight below in the ocean depths. Margygr is after Ebirah.

I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter! Also, I just wanted to mention something. Megapede is NOT an OC. He's a real kaiju from Godzilla: The Series. You know, the one starring Zilla Junior. Season 2, Episode 9. Does anyone else know that? Anyone? Well, that's where he's from. I also hope you guys like how I portrayed Gorosaurus and Godzilla. This is my first time writing in my style for Godzilla, so I hope it's good.
