CHAPTER 2 - 78TH CLASS OF HOPE'S PEAK ACADEMY
Once orientation was done, the students of the 78th Class all headed to class. Their Homeroom teacher arrived right after them. Kamiko didn't recognize or care to remember the teacher's name. She also knew that the teachers were all unaware of when or who the next Ultimate Hope is. At least she wouldn't get any unnecessary attention in the beginning.
"Alright everyone, why don't you introduce yourselves and tell us about your Ultimate talent?" The teacher chimed in after introducing herself.
Kamiko sighed in annoyance. There went her moment of peace. She looked around and noticed how many interesting characters were around her. Her classmates all looked very unique. She could almost guess what their Ultimate talents were. Kamiko had taken the window seat, since it allowed her to have some sort of stimulation apart from boring classes.
There was one person that she felt a certain attraction towards a certain Ultimate that was sitting on the desk next to hers, which was at the far back. The most noticeable thing about him was his gravity-defying hairstyle. The styled part was a bleached colour and the back of his hair was black. He also had the most striking eyes. Kamiko believed she might get lost in them if she looked directly into them. His toned body was exposed with his school vest wide open showing off his pecks through his white camisole, tucked into his school pants. Maybe the reason why she was feeling drawn to him was the fact that he represented what she was striving for: rebellion.
The first person to introduce himself got up. He was wearing the school uniform with all his buttons closed and no accessories. He looked like the complete opposite to the person sitting next to Kamiko. "I'm Kiyotaka Ishimaru. I believe in bold simplicity! Let's work together on our educational crusade. I had the honour to be accepted at Hope's Peak Academy as the Ultimate Moral Compass," he said in a very enthusiastic tone, his piercing red eyes focused on the Homeroom teacher. The rebellious looking student scoffed under his breath. Kamiko thought that these two would probably butt heads a lot in the future.
The next person got up as well and had a happy smile on her face. She was also wearing the school uniform, but her vest was fully open, showing her white shirt underneath and her black thin bow around her shirt collar. "Hello! I'm Asahina Aoi! 'Sup everyone, I was chosen by Hope's Peak as the Ultimate Swimming Pro," the tanned girl introduced herself in an upbeat tone. It brought a smile to a few of the other students' faces.
The next student to get up looked a lot less confident. She got up hesitantly and was looking at the ground and fiddling with her hands. She was quite short. The girl was wearing the school uniform with a black skirt instead of the usual brown one. "Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Fujisaki Chihiro. I've been scouted as the Ultimate Programmer," she said in a barely audible voice. Kamiko noticed that the boy next to her seemed more interested in Fujisaki Chihiro's introduction, compared to all that were before her. She wondered if his type of girl was close to how Chihiro looked and presented herself. Kamiko smiled a little, chuckling internally to herself. There she was, a girl of such high talent, all interested in a guy that she has never even exchanged a single word with or heard him even talk. 'And they told me that people like me were unable to put feelings above logic...' She thought to herself at the irony of the situation.
"I... am Yamada Hifumi. But if you want to call me by my nickname, "The Alpha and the Omega!" I don't mind. I am known as the Ultimate Fanfic Creator," the student who was next got up and said, lowering his voice range slightly at the mention of his nickname. This boy looked like a big round ball with toothpicks for limbs. He was wearing just the white school shirt with a personalized orange and blue tie. He had small round glasses that seemed to barely fit on his face.
The next student looked the most normal out of everyone here with his brown hair and green eyes. He was wearing his school uniform normally as well. He got up hesitantly with an awkward smile. "Hi, my name's Naegi Makoto. I came here actually by pure luck... The title they gave me is the Ultimate Lucky Student. I hope we all get along!" Kamiko sighed internally, thinking about the student that she had met earlier that day. Both Komaeda Nagito and Naegi Makoto were the test subjects for the research on luck.
Everyone in the class recognized the next student as she got up with grace. "Hi, I'm Maizono Sayaka. I look forward to getting to know you all! I was accepted into this school as the Ultimate Pop Sensation." A few people clapped lightly after she finished introducing herself. She was wearing the school uniform with the skirt about as short as what most of the other girls had. Her long bluish hair flowed elegantly with every movement she made. She was mesmerising to look at. Kamiko was surprised to see no reaction from the boy next to her. She would've thought that Maizono Sayaka was almost everyone's type.
The next person to get up had crazier hair than the guy sitting next to Kamiko. "I'm Hagakure Yasuhiro and I'm actually 21. Been held back a few years in Junior High, but I'm taking it easy. I've been invited here as the Ultimate Clairvoyant." There were a few whispers here and there at the mention of his age. Hagakure Yasuhiro was wearing an open white shirt with a yellow t-shirt underneath. The only thing part of the school uniform were his pants. His hair was in dreadlocks and surrounding his head outwards into a form akin to a lion's mane.
The girl sitting next to Hagakure Yasuhiro gets up in controlled movements. "Hello. I am Mukuro Ikusaba. I had the honour to be invited as the Ultimate Soldier," even her tone was very controlled. There were no modifications or accessories to her school uniform. He black hair had a green hue to it and she had no smile on her face.
Next up was almost her complete opposite. "Hiii! I'm Enoshima Junko. Charmed, I'm sure! You probably recognize me from all the magazine covers. I've been invited here as the Ultimate Fashionista," she exclaimed. Enoshima Junko was loud in almost every way. From her style, to her voice. Almost everyone recognized her from the cover photos of fashion magazines. She looked almost exactly the same as on these covers. There was probably minimal editing involved. She had two long voluminous blonde pigtails. One had a bunny clip and the other a white and red bow. She was wearing a lighter vest that was fully open, showing the white shirt underneath and the red thin bow around her colour. She also had a red bow clip on her vest. Her skirt was kept quite short, especially that it was almost the same length as her shirt.
The girl who got up next had a full Gothic Lolita outfit clad with all the accessories, with over the top hair to pull it all together. "I am Celestia Ludenberg, the Ultimate Gambler. And yes, before you ask, I am Japanese and yes Celestia Ludenberg is my name," she said in a soft but forceful voice. Kamiko knew that she was lying, since gambling was one of the skills she had to learn.
The next student didn't wait for Celestia to sit down. "Name's Togami Byakuya. Ultimate Affluent Progeny," he then sat back down as quickly as he got up. Everyone was quite dumbfounded with his introductions. He did give off the vibe that he didn't care about the whole situation. Kamiko knew him and his family. The Kamukura were in a very important business relationship with the Togami group. They helped fund the Academy when it was just starting off and they had been the biggest sponsor ever since. Kamiko never met Byakuya personally but she had definitely heard of him before.
The girl who introduced herself after Byakuya was almost just as brief. "My name is... Kirigiri Kyoko. I'd rather not say what my Ultimate is," Kamiko raised her eyebrows at Kyoko's introduction. The name Kirigiri was the name of the current Headmaster of Hope's Peak. Kamiko assumed that they were probably related and, if that was the case, then Kirigiri Kyoko was probably a detective. For Hope's Peak to hire the Headmaster, they had to run a background check. Even though he'd severed ties with the Kirigiri family, they knew exactly who that family was. They were a family of great detectives that worked in secrecy. The other students groaned in discontent and confusion at why Kirigiri Kyoko was not sharing her Ultimate talent. Kyoko was wearing gloves that covered her whole hand and was wearing the school uniform as well.
The next student got up with a hand behind his bright orange hair and a big smile on his face. "Yo! The name's Kuwata Leon. What's up everyone? Been chosen as the Ultimate Baseball Star, but if you ask me, I should be the Ultimate Musician!" He was one of the students who had not a single article of clothing on their body that was part of the school uniform. He was wearing a white open shirt with a white t-shirt underneath and black pants. He also had a bright orange goatee to match his hair. He had a few piercings as well, seemingly trying to imitate the punk rock musician look.
The next student who got up was overall just impressive. "I'm Ogami Sakura. I have been chosen by the Academy as the Ultimate Martial Artist." She was tall and very muscular. Kamiko thought that even she would probably have a hard time sparring with Sakura. She was wearing a sleeveless shirt, showing off her defined bulging arm muscles. Her forearms were covered in bandages and she was wearing a white camisole under her open shirt. She had the school skirt on as well.
The next student hesitantly got up. "N-Not that you'll remember my name anyway, but... I'm F-Fukawa Toko, the Ultimate Writing Prodigy," she stuttered while looking down to the ground. What she said was quite ironic, considering she wrote some of the most famous novels in the country. Toko was wearing the uniform with the long version of the skirt. She was definitely a more reserved and shy person.
Kamiko was looking forward to the next student introducing himself the most. He got up with almost a permanent glare in his eyes. "Name's Owada Mondo. I'm Ultimate Biker Gang Leader. If you don't fuck with me, I won't fuck with you," he sat back down, still keeping that glare. Kamiko couldn't help but smile. Her attraction for him grew even further after hearing his voice and the rude way in which he talked. She had never spoken like that her whole life, being brought up studying proper etiquette. To her surprise, he turned his head to her, looking her in the eyes and raising an eyebrow. That was when she realized that it was finally her turn to introduce herself.
She let out a defeated sigh, not really wanting to divulge who she really was. She knew that even if she hid her talent like Kyoko, just her name would give her away. She got up gracefully, running a hand through her long black hair and gave everyone her charming smile. "Greetings everyone. My name is Kamukura Kamiko. I was invited to join the Academy as the Ultimate Hope. I look forward to getting to know you all," Kamiko introduced herself with charisma. She noticed most of the male students smiling at her. To her pleasure as well, she noticed Mondo looking interested in her introduction. She sat back down and tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear. She then turned her head slightly towards Mondo and gave him a slightly seductive smile. She noticed that, as soon as they made eye contact, his ears getting a little red and he quickly looked away. Kamiko let out a small satisfied giggle and turned her gaze back to the front of the class.
