2. Day of the Dino Part 1
Several years later
Reefside high school
"Good Morning," said Tommy, as he walked into the kitchen. Jewel looked up from the coffee maker seeing her partner wearing a lab coat over the top of his clothes.
Jewel raised her eyebrow. "Good morning," she smiled as he kissed her, reaching over for his coffee mug, "someone is excited to start teaching."
"Is it that obvious?" he looked down at his attire, "I didn't think I was that bad?"
"Not bad," she nodded. "Be careful though, you don't want to be looking too much like a geeky teacher, you want them to think you're a cool teacher so you can get them to be on your side, not against you."
Tommy nodded, "noted," he said, wrapping his arms around her waist pulling her in towards him, "are you sure you don't want to be my assistant?"
"Oh, sweetie," she turned with a huge grin on her face, "you wouldn't do any work," she kissed him. "Besides, I'm going to work in the lab today, these days it's best not to place me in a room full of teenagers."
Jewel lowered her head, since she had bonded with the Scarlett Dino Gem in their experiments to build a new Power Ranger team, she had formed powers that were linked to her emotions, she nearly destroyed their flat at college once already.
"Are we still on for our museum date after school?" he asked, reaching for his flask that she had prepared for him.
"I still can't believe a museum is your idea of a date," she shook her head, "but of course we are still going."
Tommy kissed her once more, this time the kiss lingered for a few seconds, "see you after school," he said, pulling away from her he pushed her hair out of her eyes, "if you need me call me and I will come rushing home."
"It's your first day," she told him, "I'm not going to ruin it, I will be fine now go," she ushered him towards the front door of their house. "Otherwise you would be late."
Tommy smiled, "love you."
"Love you too," she watched as he opened the door and began to walk to the Land Rover waiting at the end of the drive before closing the door.
Yes! she cheered, now she had the house to herself and she could watch all the soap operas without any complaints. Victory was hers.

"How was Tommy this morning?" Amy, who she liked to call herself now asked over the phone. Jewel was now sitting on the sofa and had the latest Eastenders Omnibus in the background, god she was becoming more like Jackie Tyler each day.
Jewel smiled, "he was trying to dress to impress," she told the teenager. "How has everything been for you?"
"The therapy has stopped," she told her, "Melody is being a pain in my backside though, she keeps on getting detention."
"I wonder what she is trying to prove," she mused, seeing Tommy pulling up in the drive, she checked her watch. It was lunch time, what was he doing? "Listen, Amy, I've got to go Tommy is back."
Amy smiled, "take it he got fired already?"
"No," she sighed, as she heard the keys in the door, "I think he's coming to check on me, remember to stay out of trouble and first sign of the Doctor…"
"Call you," sighed Amy, "I know now go."
Jewel put the phone down and watched as Tommy walked through with an amused look on his face. "I thought you were working in the lab?"
"I lied so I can watch eastenders and gossip with Amy," Jewel sighed in defeat. "Okay?"
"No need to sound disappointed," he smiled, leaning over the sofa. "I just wanted to check on you, and to make sure the house is still standing…"
Jewel rolled her eyes, "how's your first day so far?"
"They were right about Randall," he sighed, "she's one strict and mean headteacher and I already had one student who skipped my class…"
"Sounds successful," she smiled, as he sat on the sofa, a deep sigh escaped his lips and his hand tightened into a fist against his knee, "what happened?"
Tommy looked at her, "Randall wants me to be the detention monitor for the week."
"And…?" Jewel pushed for more information.
"It's at the same time as our date," he continued, seeing Jewel raise an eyebrow. "Randall suggested bringing the three students with us."
Jewel laughed, "that's a bit evil," she chuckled a little bit too much if you had asked Tommy. "What did you say?"
"I had to say yes," he mumbled.
"Well," she leaned into him, "looks like we are babysitting three teenagers later."

It was later in the afternoon when Tommy had pulled the car into their drive, he told Conner, Ethan and Kira to wait in the car whilst he went inside to collect his partner. The three teenagers waited in an awkward silence. Kira had rested her elbow against the door frame leaning her chin against her fist. She was bored. They all were.
Connor quickly tapped Ethan's shoulder, "dude, there is no actual way," he whispered his eyes focused on Dr. Oliver and Jewel, their teacher placed a jacket over Jewel's shoulders as she turned to lock the door.
"What way?" Ethan asked, unsure what Conner was getting at.
"There is no way Dr. Oliver landed that chick," he said, "she is so out of his league."
Kira rolled her eyes, "she is way out of yours too," she retorted. "You will also be suspended for dating a teacher's partner."
"What are they saying?" Tommy whispered, curiosity hitting him as he saw Jewel had a huge grin on her face.
Jewel leaned into him, "the I presume Jock of the group," she said, "thinks I am way out of your league," she glanced over her shoulder. "The sensible quiet girl told him off." She loved her super hearing sometimes.
"We need to get back before Conner boosts your ego further," said Tommy, steering her to the car, seeing the three teenagers straightening up. "Guys this is my partner, Miss. Tyler."
Jewel nodded and waved, "call me Jewel," she said, as she got into the passenger seat. "I'm not a teacher so I don't need to be that formal," she glared at Tommy as he got into the driver's seat who shrugged in response. "Are you guys ready for the museum?"
"I'm ready," said Ethan with a smile.
"Now who is being the teacher's pet," muttered Conner, shaking his head. Jewel turned to look at the road as Tommy reversed out. This was going to be awkward.

Tommy pulled up outside the museum and they all got out of the car.
"No way," grinned Ethan, as he looked up to the huge T-Rex statue outside. "Check out the massive T-Rex!"
"Sorry, we are closed," read Jewel, folding her arms, "bit unusual I must admit…"
Conner threw his arms up in the air, "oh well, no museum for us," he said, a small smile forming across his lips.
"Great," nodded Kira, "let's go home."
Tommy turned to them, "tell you what," he said, "why don't you go with Jewel and cover the ground. If you guys find anything prehistoric. I'll cancel detention for the rest of the week."
"Sweet," nodded Ethan with a small smile.
"Why are you punishing me?" Jewel frowned. "I've not got detention."
"No," he shook his head, "but whilst I check the museum out I can't leave them unattended."
"Fine," she growled, rolling her eyes, "I'll go with them," she placed a hand on his shoulder. "You owe me," she spun on her heel and nodded to the three teenagers, "come on guys let's go…"
Conner began walking with her, "so how did Dr. Oliver get you to go out with him?"
"That," Jewel laughed, "is none of your damn business."

"So let me get this straight," said Conner as they walked through the woods. "There is a club just for computers?"
Jewel rolled her eyes, shaking her head, "you jocks may laugh now but one day geeks will run the world."
"I like her," smiled Ethan, as he turned to look at Jewel, "what do you do for work? Are you a teacher as well?"
"No," answered Jewel, "I'm a freelance web and graphics designer," she watched as his eyes widened in response.
Conner looked at Kira, "I think Ethan may be in love…"
"Would you stop being a jerk," Kira replied, shaking her head in response. Jewel turned to the blonde, offering her a small smile. They continued to walk around the forest.
Ethan walked slightly ahead of them, seeing Jewel get her cell phone, the brunette frowned as she looked at the map app. "Hey," he said, "did you ever hear the story of the guy who was hiking up here and fell into a giant sinkhole?"
"Must've missed that one," Kira said, as she looked up into the sky.
"Come on," he turned to face them, "it was on all of the Urban legend websites…"
Conner shook his head, "Dude, you know this is not computer club, right?"
"Oh," Ethan laughed. "I guess you're too big of a bad to surf the web?" He watched as Conner just smirked, raising his head up in amusement, "well what do you do in your spare time?"
"Me?" asked Conner with a small shrug, "I go out with girls, you know they're the ones at school who smell really good," Jewel continued to listen to the conversation, shaking her head, muttering 'Jesus Christ,' under her breath, "the long hair and the makeup."
Ethan stopped him, "oh it's like that is it?"
"Yeah," Conner stepped towards him, "It's like that."
"Oh for the love of god," complained Jewel, "children, enough…" she began to walk ahead earning a smirk from Connor. "Before I lose my lunch."
Ethan shook his head, "all I'm trying to do is give you guys a heads up," he continued to say, "don't come crying to me when you fall in a giant sinkhole," then like it was one-by-one, they all fell into a sinkhole, landing hard on the ground.
"Everyone alright?" Jewel groaned, as she slowly got herself up, dusting herself off.
"We're fine," she heard them say, as she looked around sighing as she realised where she was, 'well shit,' she said, 'how do I get myself out of this one?'
Conner looked up to the sinkhole, seeing the rays of sunlight peeking through, "alright," he said, "you guys stay where it's safe, I'll climb back up with help." They watched as he walked up to the wall and tried to climb it but he didn't have any muscle strength to get himself up and ended up falling down.
"Back already?" Ethan asked, earning a laugh from Jewel, as they helped him up.
Jewel patted his shoulder, "look, there is a walkway that way," she said, "instead of climbing and trying to break our backs, let's just follow it and see where it leads?"
"Good thinking," smiled Kira, as she began to follow the walkway that Jewel had suggested.
Ethan and Conner shared a look with one another, "and she just mentions this now?" Connor asked, raising his eyebrow.
"It's a good idea," said Ethan, "at least someone in the group is being sensible."

Freak you out! Freak you out! Kira sang softly, as they walked through the caves, Jewel slowly walked behind the three teenagers, humming along to the tune.
"Babe," said Conner with a sigh, "can you keep it down? Trying to stay focused here," he walked ahead of the group.
Kira stopped walking, "did you just call me babe?" She turned to Ethan and Jewel, "did he just call me babe?"
"I don't know," shrugged Ethan, "I wasn't listening, I was grooving to your tune."
"Jewel?" Kira turned to the brunette who also shrugged in response. She began to walk over to Conner, glaring at him as she stood in front of him.
Conner shrugged, "what? Just chill out, why don't you?"
"Listen," she said, "my name is Kira, maybe you should write on your hand or something so you remember?" They all continued walking. Jewel watched as they turned the corner, seeing the Skeleton of the T-Rex, she rolled her eyes, of course they had to find the secret lab under their house. It was like textbook.
The four of them remained silent as they stared at the skeleton, "this screams Jurassic Park to me," said Kira, breaking the silence.
"This will get us out of detention forever," said Conner as he reached for the T-Rex's head, lifting the bottom part of it down, and the door to the lab opened. They all walked through.
Kira smiled, as she looked around, "I could do a crazy video in here," she commented.
"Woah," Conner breathed, as he looked around. "This must be like the mothership for you dude," he said, tapping Ethan's shoulder.
"Normally," said Ethan, as he looked around with a wide smile, "I'd be insulted but when you're right, you're right." They stopped, Jewel waited at the back as she saw the place holder for the Dino Gems in the middle, steam was coming out of it. That was unusual, she thought, she hadn't seen it like that when she bonded with the Scarlett Dino Gem.
Conner tried to reach for the red dino gem, "Yo," said Ethan, "Don't touch that."
"Why not?" he replied, raising his hand up like he wasn't sure why Ethan had stopped him. Ethan and Kira walked towards him.
"You really are taking this whole dumb jock thing to a whole new level," Ethan complained.
"Look," Conner rolled his eyes, "I have sat through enough lame science classes to know that thing looks pretty prehistoric and I don't have to miss practice."
Kira sighed, "I hate to agree with him," she said, "really I do, but I already missed one rehearsal," she looked straight at Ethan who turned to Jewel.
"Don't include me," she shrugged, raising her eyebrow. "I'm not your teacher."
"But your the responsible adult," Ethan retorted.
Jewel snorted, folding her arms, "please," she said. "I'm not responsible and put my foot down eleven-years-ago, I wouldn't even be here." She watched as they all picked up the three dino gems, her eyes widening as she saw them glow in response. "Holy shit," she said, "you've got to be kidding me."
"Well what are they?" Kira asked.
Ethan twirled the gem in his hands, "I can go online later and see if I can find out."
"Go in front of a computer," smirked Conner, as the light faded, "wait let me put on my surprised face.
Ethan turned to him, "you know ten years from now when your hairline is receding and you're playing pick up soccer in the park because your dreams of turning pro never quite worked out," he grinned widely, "I will have my own multi-billionaire software business."
"This is why I say never underestimate the geeks," Jewel walked over to Conner, patting his shoulder. Kira began to walk out of the cave.
Ethan frowned, "Where are you going?"
"I for one don't want to think about what kind of freak," Jewel frowned at that statement, she wanted to protest but couldn't as it would give her and Tommy away, "lives in a place like this and I sure dont want to be here when it gets home."
Jewel began to follow her, "what makes you think that it's an it?"
"Right behind you," Conner sighed, as he followed the girls out of the room.

They had found an exit to the underground cave and lab, walking out into the forest. The four of them turned as they heard a growl. "What was that?" Ethan asked.
"The wind," suggested Kira, as she looked up into the sky, trying to find out where the noise had come from.
"That was not the wind," Jewel replied as she stood in between Ethan and Conner looking up to the sky and listening as carefully as she could, "as much I would love it to tbe the wind. It's something else…"
They watched as Tyrannodrones appeared all around them in a flash of green light. Jewel quickly prepared to fight. "Don't move," whispered Conner.
"Listen," said Jewel, as she clenched her hands into a fist. "I want you three to get out of here as fast as you can," she turned to them, seeing all three of them stare at her in shock, "and don't you stop until you get to the museum."
Ethan shook his head, "We can't leave you."
"Yes," she nodded, "you can, I will hold them off for as long as I can," she stepped forward. "Once you find Dr. Oliver, tell him what happened and he will get you to safety."
Kira shook her head, "What on earth is happening?" She watched out in shock as the creatures moved towards Jewel, she quickly roundhouse kicked one down as it got too close.
"Go," she cried, and the three teenagers quickly ran off into the forest, waiting until it was safe. She activated the silver bracelet that was on her wrist. The morpher appeared. "Dino Thunder, Power Up!" Jewel morphed into the Scarlett Power Ranger and quickly began to fight the Tyrannodrones, using every Karate move she'd every learnt until the Tyrannodrones grabbed her arms.
Jewel flinched, trying to get her arms back, "okay," she breathed, "you asked for it," she unclenched her hands and used her powers, the earth began to quake from underneath them and a gust of wind escaped the palms of her hands destroying all the Tyrannodrones in its path.
"Ow," she winced, as she stopped using the power, the Ranger suit deactivated and faded away into the silver bracelet. "That bloody hurt this time," she stood still for a moment, trying to get herself together before walking through the forest to find Conner, Ethan and Kira.
"Over here," she heard Ethan cry, and began to run towards his shout. Seeing them showing each other their gems, "how much do I love detention."
Tommy rushed over to the group of teenagers, "hey," he said. "Are you guys alright?"
"Yeah," said Ethan, "couldn't be better."
"Where's Jewel?" Tommy looked around the group with wide eyes, his partner wasn't there and they all started to look guilty.
Kira bit her lip, "listen, Dr. Oliver, something…"
"I told you guys not to wander off," Jewel told them off as she joined the group, patting Ethan's shoulder. "Thanks for leaving me back there," she glared at Conner, at least she could pretend it was his fault.
Conner awkwardly coughed, "it wasn't my idea," he tried to argue, looking towards Dr. Oliver who just stared at them trying to decipher what was going on.
"Nothing out of the ordinary happened?" Tommy asked Jewel, as she walked over to him, grabbing his hand and holding it tightly.
"Nope," she shook her head, "everything was normal, right guys?" Tommy just stayed silent for a moment, "shouldn't we get them back to school before their parents start to worry about their whereabouts?"
Tommy nodded, "let's get going," he told the group, and began to walk back to the car.
"Don't say anything about what happened back there," Jewel warned the three teenagers, turning to look at them.
"What happened back there?" asked Conner, he was officially confused and couldn't even register what happened five seconds ago let alone a year.
Jewel shook her head and pretended to zip her lips with her fingers, "nothing, zilch, Nadda," she told them, "if you know what is good for you, you won't tell anyone what happened and keep those stones in your pocket safe," she began to walk back to the car. "Are you guys coming or not?"
"Now who is acting weird?" Ethan asked Conner, sharing a look with him and Kira before they all followed the brunette back to Dr. Oliver's car.
~*0*~
The next day, Jewel had kept quiet about what happened in the forest and it really annoyed Tommy who kept on and on at her trying to ask her what happened. Jewel simply shook her head, "The less you know the better," she said.
"I'm going to work down in the lab," said Tommy, as he came home from school that afternoon, "are you coming?"
Jewel's eyes widened, "are you sure that's a good idea?"
"Why not?" Tommy shrugged, as she followed him into the kitchen towards the secret entrance. "I wanted to see how you were getting on with installing the computers."
"Done," she said, blocking his path, "they're fine," she placed both of her hands on the door hinges, "all installed."
Tommy shook his head, "Jewel, why are you acting weird?"
"I'm not acting weird," she scoffed, shaking her head, folding her arms, "what makes you think I'm acting weird?"
"Because you're trying to hide something," he tapped her nose, and pushed her to the side so he couldn't; get through.
Jewel rolled her eyes, "no wait," she sighed, "don't go down there," she huffed, as he quickly walked down the stairs giving up she decided to follow him.
"If you two are here for extra credit," said Tommy, Jewel rushed down the stairs seeing Conner and Ethan in the lab starring straight at her partner. "You two are in the wrong place."
Conner waved at Jewel, "Hi Jewel," he said, lowering his gaze, as she simply stood behind Tommy, raising an eyebrow. She had given them one job - keep quiet and they couldn't even do that.
Day of the Dino Part 1 Complete!
Hope you enjoy.
