Chapter Two

Harry

Seven came far too early for my liking, trying to drag my body out of the bed proved to be more difficult than I would have thought. The skin felt tight against my bicep and catching a glimpse of my chest in the mirror as I pulled myself up to my feet and I couldn't stop the confidence from flooding through me.

It was one of Hermione more random ideas but I had to admit I felt like I was stepping out on my own. All my life I had been measured against James Potter, looking like him, being good at flying, my glasses and my penchant for trouble.

Everyone had always compared us, at first it was nice knowing that I was like my father but now as a grown man I felt the need to become my own person whoever that is. I had always tried to project a certain way but now I actually have a future I am going to take it by the horns and live my life as much as I can. No regrets. No more dark wizards trying to kill me. Its my second chance, I couldn't stop my thoughts at this point.

All of my attention was now on Draco and Narcissa Malfoy, don't ask me why but for some reason all animosity was gone and something else took its place. I feel bad for them both, Draco saved my arse by not identifying me in Malfoy Manor, then Narcissa didn't drop me in it when we were in the forest and realistically shouldn't they also get the chance to have a future. If you listen through the grapevine Lucius Malfoy is proving becoming more of a cliche as time goes on.

That pompous, prancing peacock has been a arse his whole life and is overflowing with darkness and apparently hsi own family were not immune to his arseholery. Dracp and Narcissa seemed to be just as much a prisoner in that house as anyone else. It's not surprising when you put the cruelty of Lucius with the madness of Bellatrixs it's a wonder they were as well adjusted as they were.

Having Voldemort as a house guest was an entirely different demon and I could almost guarantee as the years pass they will have trauma to over oem just like all of us. I can only hope they get the chance.

I headed into my bathroom, brushed my teeth and washed my face the muggle way before shaving and combing my hair. Thanks to Neville he had allowed me to borrow some formal dress robes for the court today. I needed to make a certain impression and the bumbling teenager that the Wizarding World had been used to at this point wasn't going to cut it.

Taking my time I placed piece by piece it took a total of ten minutes to get them all on. Fascining up the last of the buttons and attaching my wand to a dragon hide holster which Luna gave me two years ago. I certainly looked the part. Too bad I don't feel it, I mean I had gained some confidence but it was a whole other thing when you felt like a kid playing dress up about to confront the world as try to be something I wasn't.

My usually messy hair was now below my shoulders and I had pulled it back and secured it with a leather tie. I looked like a dark haired Lucius Malfoy and I secretly loved it but the nerves and panic was beginning to set in. I tried to ignore the random thoughts that maybe Draco will see a different side to me and like it. Yeah I am not even gonna open that can of worms not that I care what he thinks.

With one last look I walked out of my room and down the still long hallways to reach the kitchen. There was so much oppression in this house when Hermione and. First came here but slowly room by room Kreacher and Winky whom has been practically following Hermione around since the war, have taken it upon themselves to clean up the house with free rein.

The seven bedrooms were renovated as well as the Library, Kitchen, bathrooms and beds. A small garden had been set up to start some plants and herbs for Potions that Neville was helping with. An external shed which had been largely adapted to accommodate a small potions lab and gym equipment. Everything was moving slowly but it was a gorgeous foundation to work with and the work would hopefully be finished before heading back to Hogwarts.

The closer and closer I got to the kitchen I could smell the coffee wafting through the air and knew Hermione was already awake and had the pot brewed. I really needed to buy Hermione something nice for everything she does for me.

"Good Morning Harry." She beemed at me from the stove, flipping a pancake on a pan with a white kiss the chef apron on which had been hanging under Siriuss' leather jacket. From what I could see under her Apron sat a pair of Navy Blue robes. They were long and flowing with silver accents and I realised Luna had been here because they screamed of the blonde fairy.

"Nice outfit...you look gorgeous babe." I couldn't stop the smile that made it's way onto my face and as she did a twirl worthy of a Disney Princess. There is no one in this world I feel more open with than her.

"I could say the same Harry. I think Luna put a hair growing serum in our shampoo. I woke up this morning to a full on lions mane down to my hips. If only I could tame the curls." She had her hair up in a tight bun on the back of her head and so I couldn't tell how long it was but I noticed it seemed to be bigger today.

"Did I ever tell you how much I love you?" A large smile erupted on her face as I said this and she handed me a cup of coffee and stack of blueberry pancakes with maple syrup.

"A girl always likes to hear it Harry." She poured her own Maple Syrup onto her pancakes and came to sit down at the kitchen island beside me. Neither one of us said anything else and just enjoyed our breakfast in quiet contemplation.

Neither one of us know what way the day was going to go, as we cleaned up our dishes we donned our coats and went to the FLOO. Whooshing through the flames I was followed by Hermione whom grasped my hand as flashes erupted around us.

'Mr Potter... Miss Granger! What sentence are you hoping for today?' I grasped tighter onto her hand and ushered through the droves of reporters to get to the lifts and thankfully the Aurors had kept a barrier around it.

"Level Two Mr Potter." I thanked the man and we were on our way down to the Courts. It was eerily quiet in comparison to the cacophony of sound we had heard upstairs and it was that much of a startling contrast the hairs stood up on my arms.

Making our way down to Courtroom One, a door opened to the left, being pulled out of the door quite roughly was Narcissa Malfoy is Azkaban Robes. The navy and white stripes hung so loose on her frame I could see her collarbone protruding through the fabric.

She had a split lip, scratch on her cheek and bruises on her throat which looked like hand marks. Even in her dishevelled state she was gorgeous. I could see the gears turning in Hermione head and before I could say anything she beat me to it.

"Hasn't the ministry enforced a policy of no violence to the prisoners of Azkaban." A large rather chunky prison guard looked at her up and down almost leering at her, it made me want to punch him in the face but if Hermiones expression was anything to go by she will beat me to it.

"What is it to you little girl? Malfoy isn't in the prison for no reason. Sometimes they are mouthy and need to be taught a lesson. What's one less death eater huh?" His stupid little friend laughed and it was reminiscent of Crabbe and Goyle looking at them both.

"Well it's clear you have not got your facts straight because if you used what little braincells you have you would know that Lady Malfoy was not a death eater. I am sure it makes you feel like a big, strong man beating on a woman." He took one step closer to her and I stepped up beside her not to interfere but to be her back up if she needed it.

"Not much of a Lady is she though? Lucius Malfoys wife does not deserve any kind of kindness. With any luck she will get a life sentence today and we can show her what a Lady can do. Move on little children and don't interfere in things you don't know." Narcissa tried so hard to hide her smirk and rolled her eyes at the two buffoons.

"I might not deserve your respect but clearly two thirds of the golden trio certainly do...or did you not recognise Harry Potter and Hermione Granger?" Both men visibly paled at us both before looking uncomfortably between one another. The one time my name could be used for something other than ridicule.

"Apologies Mr Potter. Miss Granger." I only shook my head at them and tried to imitate Dracos confidence he had adapted all throughout school and asked for a minute to talk with the woman in question. As they took a step away from her I took a second to take in her injuries, she looked horrendous, none of them were from the battle as all of her would and bruises looked quite fresh.

Her wrists that were shackled were red raw and seeping, she had lost so much weight she looked ill and the dark circles under her eyes proved to us she wasn't eating. Narcissa Malfoy was a shell of her former self but no less striking and as her eyes flicked between us she seemed more zoned in on Hermione.

Following her revelation that the Malfoy patriarch used Legilimency to help Hermione I had a new found respect for the woman, she saved my best friend from her sisters wrath and I will spend the rest of my life trying to make up for that.

"Are you alright?" Hermione looked at her with a soft smile on her face, it was something I never thought I would see, she does have a big heart and regardless of past interactions she would help anyone in need.

"Your concern is appreciated Miss Granger. I am fine thank you." Slowly Hermione reached out her hand and gently prodded her bruises on the neck to which the older woman flinched before pulling away.

"I thank you both, if you will excuse me. It's good to see you again." The two prison guards took her away into another room, albeit more gently but seeing the small frame be towered over by the two burly men made me want to protect her.

"We cannot let her go to Azkaban Harry, they will kill her." I could only nod at my friend and we both went into the Courtroom and found Andromeda across the room with Luna and Neville. Waving us over we took our seats beside them and it seems we were just in time as Kingsley took his seat also. Arthur had been awarded Supreme Mugwump and beemed and waved at us before clearing his throat to address the whole room.

The Wizangamot now consisted of Twenty individuals, ranging from all walks of life. It wasn't a pureblood thing anymore, and now that the war was finally over it meant no more prejudice. Or at least that was the long term goal that Kingsley was aspiring to.

"Witches and Wizards, firstly this is the trial of Draco Malfoy. A marked wizard whom has a small list of crimes, a young man who in any other world would be graduating from Hogwarts right about now instead of in the position he is in. A circumstance of his upbringing some say, today we will hear evidence for both in favour of Draco Malfoy and opposed to him." Everyone took their seats as Arthur asked for him to be led in.

A cranking noise started up, a door opened from the ground and a platform with a shackled and gaunt Draco Malfoy. His once neat locks were now long past his shoulders and a beard was beginning on his face. His left arm looked like something was strangling it at this point and he could barely stand as both hands were held onto a bar in front of the platform.

"Draco Malfoy, on the advice of your Magicouncil what is your plead?" The young man looked around the room and as soon as his eyes landed on me and the group he looked scared but turned to look dead ahead and nodded.

"Guilty." The entire Wizangamot froze, Arthur seemed stunned for a second and took in Draco steely determined face. The boy was guilty of certain things but that shouldn't cost him his future.

"Mr Malfoy are you sure?" All Draco did was nod at him and stand stoicly awaiting his sentence.

"It is seems you have no self preservation and considering the letters and speeches we have here from several people. The new Headmistress of Hogwarts Minerva McGonagall. Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Severus Snape and even a missive from Albus Dumbledore himself pre mortem invoking your innocence." Soft, quiet whispers broke out and only Kingsley silenced them all by standing up, it was a true testiment to what his time as Minister of Magic was going to be like.

"OK then, let's put it to a vote. All those in favour of a Guilty Verdict please write it on a piece of parchment." Soft scribbles could be heard under shuffling of bored feet from the wings. It took Arthur three minutes and six seconds to count all of the votes and give it to Kingsley who stood up.

"Mr Malfoy please stand." He did immediately but with a emptiness in his eyes, the haughty arrogance of youth was gone and now there was a man who had been defeated by the ravages of familial responsibilities.

"From my reasoning you were forced into the dark mark. All members of the court have read a statement by Severus Snape about what happened that night. They took your mother from her bed and pinned her down in front of you." He shook his head and looked like he was ready to cry.

"No, stop it. I am guilty so can you please just send me to Azkaban and stop talking. My mother is the only one in all of this who is innocent. I know it, you know it so let's just cut to the chase please." He had a defiance in his eyes when defending his mother that I had never seen before.

"Before this trial the Wizangamot had a punishment picked for you if you were found guilty. So you go back to Hogwarts, study hard and make the most out of your future Mr Malfoy. You and hereby found not guilty, you are free to go." The shackles disappeared and the platform gate opened to allow him out of his prison. He stood for a few seconds in shock and I knew what was coming, he was going to buckle and breakdown.

Before anyone could do anything else Luna stood up and walked across the floor to take his hand. It seemed to be enough to ground him as she led him over to us and upon seeing her nephew Andromeda placed a soft hand on his cheek and indicated for him to sit down and the only spare seat was beside me.

"Clean Slate Malfoy." I held my hand out and this time Malfoy was the bigger man and shook my hand instead of listening to the people. He nodded and thanked me before Hermione poured him some hot chocolate from a thermos.

"You're still an arse Malfoy but maybe I can grow to like you." I don't know why but a smile erupted on my face and we were interrupted by Arthur standing up again.

"Now, it is Lucius Malfoy turn." Again the soft clanking happened and from the ground erupted the practically broken form of Lucius Malfoy. His arm was black almost and I knew the curse from the Dark Mark was effecting him a lot more than anyone else. It had came out from the trials that one's whom had taken the mark willingly and fulfilled the Dark Lords wishes willingly were slowly losing a part of themselves with symptoms ranging from vision loss, memory loss, shakes, vomiting it was almost like an addict coming off his meds.

"Lucius Malfoy, on the advise of your Magicouncil what is your Plead?" Having seen some Law and Order I noticed the similarities. The Pureblood cleared his throat to speak, it was as if he hadn't used it in a while and croaked out with a version of his voice.

"Not Guilty, I was under the Imperious." A man in a, well dressed suit who must have been his solicitor rolled his eyes and I realised he had went against his advise. It seemed that almost everyone in the room didn't believe in that.

It took the Wizangamot less than two hours to convict Lucius Malfoy of every single count of bad things you could think of. Murder, rape, use of unforgivable. Aiding a terrorist. Hundreds of crimes mounted against him and he denied them all. Little did he know that even his own son gave evidence against him.

He looked about ready to collapse as the verdict was read out and the floor opened up to drag Lucius Malfoy down into the depths of the Ministry. A few people looked so shook up but Kingsley and Arthur pressed on.

"Narcissa Malfoy is next, please take your seats and quieten down please." A soft clanking echoed around the room and out popped the small slightly skeletal frame of Narcissa Malfoy. I could only hope I could help, I did vow to and now that Draco was free hopefully she would fight for her life.

That's us folks so, Draco is free and Lucius is not. Now for Narcissa, I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am writing it.

As always please review and I will see you next time. Love you all.
