Chapter 1

Shock.

That's what I'm feeling right now.

Who wouldn't be in my situation?

A game that literally isn't programmed to show emotions, suddenly had one of it's NPCs show emotions.

"What the fu-"

As if the situation can't get any worse. Before I could finish that sentence, I felt something that should have been impossible.

My mouth was moving. My mouth is literally moving.

Like I said, YGGDRASIL is a game where advanced senses don't show. The mouths of the avatars, even the NPCs, don't move, even in voice chat. This also applies to touch, taste and smell.

Yet, somehow I can smell flowers and feel weight behind my back.

Sensing my shock, Albedo focused her gaze on me, like I was sick or something. It was honestly disturbing how something so lifeless instantly be a being of life, literally out of nowhere.

"Lord Oberon, are you well? Have we done something wrong?" She said, oblivious to the panic in my thoughts.

I mean, How would you react when a game NPC suddenly gained sentience?

"U-Um, well…" I stuttered trying to find something, anything, to say to her without freaking out.

I looked at Momonga with a pleading look, which he seemed to notice out of the corner of his eye. Sockets? I don't really know.

What I do know is that I need help. Come on, Momonga, help me! Her mouth is moving! That shouldn't happen at all!

"Lord Momonga? Is everything alright? Is there a problem?" Albedo said as she rose from her kneeling position and started getting closer to us, the flowery smell getting stronger.

"A-Ah." I heard Momong mutter before something strange happened to him. He suddenly went stock still before he finally spoke.

"The GM call isn't working." He stated confidently and clearly. I did notice something else.

The mandible of his skull opened a little when he spoke. Same as Albedo or me.

What the hell was that? He was as bewildered as I am and now he's calm? How is he even talking!? He doesn't even have a tongue! Or a throat!

Realizing what the issue was, Albedo backed off a bit before bowing her head slightly to Momonga.

"Please forgive me. An ignorant person, such as me, has no answer to this 'GM call' you speak of." She said regretfully.

Yeah, I'm not seeing things anymore. Her mouth is really moving.

"If you allow me to correct this grave mistake, I will be forever grateful." She pleaded as she desperately looked at Momonga.

This can't be real.

There is no way that this can be real. This must be a joke or something. We were waiting for YGGDRASIL to end, not for the NPCs to come to life!

I saw Momonga holding his head in thought. He was no doubt trying to create an explanation for what's going on.

I didn't say anything, not trusting my voice to speak, and just opened my chat, my stat screen, anything.

Nothing.

Eventually, Momonga let go of his staff to let it suspend in mid-air and spun lazily, like it did in YGGDRASIL.

Okay, so that works, but why doesn't anything else work? Heck, why not the important stuff that can actually help!?

"Sebas!" I heard Momonga say.

"Yes." Sebas responded dutifully with a refined voice and looked up at us.

Oh great. They all talk. Wonderful.

Momonga seemed to hesitate before ordering Sebas. "Step out of the tomb and confirm the surroundings around Nazarick."

Sebas stood up before answering. "Understood, Lord Momonga."

Momonga then ordered the Pleiades. "Pleiades, go to the 9th floor and guard it against possible intruders."

"As you wish, Lord Momonga." Yuri Alpha said in a mature voice before she and the rest of the Pleiades left the room in a straight line.

After giving out the orders to the NPCs, If I can even call them that anymore, Momonga looked at Albedo, who was smiling softly.

Momonga seemed deep in thought when Albedo spoke. "So, Lord Momonga. What shall I do?"

"Let's see. Come here."

What is he up to?

"Yes!" Albedo immediately agreed and practically shoved herself in front of Momonga, while his mouth opened in shock . Does she not know what personal space is?

Momonga seemed to calm down before saying, "Albedo, I'm going to touch you."

What?

Before I could comprehend that sentence, Albedo immediately agreed. Momonga grabbed her wrist while she moaned.

What the fuck is going on right now?

After a while, Momonga suddenly asked her another strange question.

"Albedo, c-can I touch your chest?"

What the fuck!?

"You don't… mind, do you?"

I could tell Momonga was uncomfortable about this, but still what the fuck!? You do not just ask a woman if you can touch her boobs!

"Of course. Please touch me as much as you wish!"

Albedo, are you seriously agreeing to this!?

Momonga slowly stretched his hand towards her breasts. When his hand made contact, Albedo started madly blushing and moaning.

It's been almost a minute and Momonga has yet to release his hand from Albedo's chest.

I am tempted to slap that hand away.

He eventually took his hand away and looked at it in shock, as if he couldn't believe he had been touching that breast for how many seconds.

"A-Albedo, I apologize." Momonga said to Albedo.

Albedo, however, had other things in mind.

"You're going to take me for the first time here and now, right?"

What?

"What shall I do about my clothes? Should I remove them myself? Or would you like to remove them, Lord Momonga?"

Each question made me even more confused. I'm guessing that with her current state, she doesn't even remember that I am literally standing right here, listening to her talking about her… fantasies.

"S-Stop. Stop now, Albedo! Now is not the time…" Momonga seemed to clear his non-existent throat before continuing. "No, we don't have time to be doing such things."

Albedo gasped in horror. "I-I am very sorry!"

"It's fine. Albedo, I forgive you completely." Momonga said to her. "More importantly, I have an order for you." Albedo immediately stood up attentively.

"I will do anything you wish."

"Except for the guardians of the 4th and 8th floor, gather everyone to the fighting arena on the 6th floor. Have them gather there an hour from now"

"Understood." Albedo bowed deeply before departing.

As soon as she left, I finally moved in front of the throne to stare at Momonga who stood up from the seat.

He stared at me.

I stared back.

"Momonga, what is happening?"

"Obe-"

"First, the servers aren't shutting down like they're supposed to and I can't even access any functions!" I said frantically, as I started pacing.

"Oberon, cal-"

"Now! Now, the NPCs are starting to talk and did you see that!? Their mouths moved! Even our mouths are moving! NPCs don't talk! Then they started obeying your commands that they shouldn't even recognize! I can even smell things!" I started shouting, my voice getting more distorted with every rise in volume. I could feel my heart rate go skyrocket.

"Oberon! Cal-!"

"Do you hear this!?" I pointed to my throat. "This isn't my voice! I'm a 20-year old man, I'm not supposed to sound like Alastor from Hazbin Hotel."

"Ob-!"

"Did something happen to our NNI!? What if we-"

"Oberon!" I heard Momonga roar before grasping me by my shoulders and forcing me to look at him.

"Calm. Down." Momonga said with a clear, soft tone.

"Nothing is going to get better if you panic now. It could make the situation even worse. So please. Take a deep breath and calm down." Momonga said with his red pupils staring at me intensely.

Looking at him now, I realized I'm not the only one in this predicament. I need to calm down before doing anything else or it will possibly get worse for the both of us.

I closed my eyes and took deep breaths as I slowly felt myself relax.

In and out.

In and out.

When I opened my eyes, I saw Momonga still looking at me, though I felt him relax his grip on my shoulders.

"Are you okay?" Momonga asked, concerned.

"Y-Yeah, I have. Thanks. I do have to ask something. What about you? One moment you panicked when Albedo started getting closer, then all of a sudden you're calm and collected." I questioned him as he let go of my shoulders.

"I don't know. I am just as confused as you are." Momonga said, uncertain of what really happened.

Shaking his head, he carried on. "It doesn't matter. I'm sure the answer will present itself in time."

"Also, what was with manhandling Albedo all of a sudden?" I finally asked the million dollar question.

"W-Well, I had to check her pulse and see if I can do an 18+ action! I-It was just a test, I swear!" Momonga said, panicked.

"And the fact that she reacted like that. Didn't you change her settings before the shutdown?"

Oh.

Momonga processed that information before he put his head in his hands in what looked like shame and regret. "Tabula-san, I have dirtied your NPC."

I would have laughed if it weren't for the situation we were in right now.

"Oh my god." I said while facepalming.

That was a mistake. I facepalmed so hard my hand got hurt. Yes. My hand. Not my head.

"Ow! What the hell? When did my head suddenly get rough?"

I brought my hands to my forehead to touch it and that's when it hit me.

The masquerade mask that I wore is actually part of the Demon Fairy race. Along with a few butterfly fluffs around my neck, my hips and on my temples.

And now. I can't get them off whatsoever.

"Momo?"

"Yes, Oberon?" Momonga said as he watched me fondle my face and neck with what would be an odd look if he had any skin or muscles to express it.

"Momo, I have fluffs."

Reaching up further, I touched the top of my head to find not hair, but something hard and curled.

"Antenna. I have an antenna."

Before he could say anything, I whipped my head back to look behind me.

Only to see my wings on my back.

With a thought, I felt my wings flutter slightly, almost as if they wanted me to fly.

Oh, God.

"Oberon, focus." I heard Momonga say to me.

That snapped me from my thoughts and I turned my head to see him looking at me, annoyed.

Right, right, sorry." I apologized. "You have a plan right? Because I don't"

"I do." He nodded as he stretched out his hand to grasp the staff. "Do you have the Ring of Ainz Ooal Gown?"

"Yes, I do. Why?" I confirmed as I played with the red ring on my skeletal-like finger.

The Ring of Ainz Ooal Gown is an item only worn by the members of Ainz Ooal Gown. It's practically a symbol of our relation to the guild. It allowed the users to teleport all over Nazarick with ease. The only places it couldn't teleport it into were the Throne Room and the personal rooms of the guild members. The ring is a band of gold with a clear amethyst in the middle with the guild's symbol imprinted onto it.

"We are going to use it to teleport to the 6th floor. We don't know if the ring will work on you, or anyone else for that matter, but we do know from the staff that certain functions still work, so the ring should still work on us. Using a [Gate] is out of the question until we can confirm that magic is working like how it's supposed to." He explained as he glanced at his very own ring on his bone white fingers.

"Alright." I begrudgingly accepted the reason.

"If this doesn't work, I'm going to break your little fingers." I threatened Momonga.

"I would be surprised if you didn't. Ready?" He said to me as he prepared himself.

"Ready." I said as we both used our rings to send ourselves to the 6th floor.

A flash of light. Then darkness.

In almost a second, my surroundings changed from the Throne Room to a dark hallway with a dim light and a closed portcullis at the end.

My eyes adjusted to the dark and I looked to my side to see Momonga standing with the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown.

"Huh. At least we don't have any missing body parts." I said. "Are you alright, Momo?"

Momonga looked over himself before looking at me.

"I'm alright, Oberon. What about you?'

"Everything seems fine." I nodded. "Glad to know the rings work like they do in YGGDRASIL."

As Momonga and I started walking towards the Colosseum, the portcullis opened by itself, as if it sensed us walking towards it.

The 6th floor is probably one of my favorite floors in Nazarick. While most of the area is practically a jungle, the Colosseum is the only man-made structure.

The Colosseum, or the Amphitheater, was what you could expect of a normal colosseum. It is a very large arena surrounded by several layers of an auditorium and it is 40 meters tall. The seats were occupied with golems to act as guests and watch the carnage, since intruders would end up here. There is a VIP box but it was reserved for the guild members and their NPCs to watch the battle as some sort of sport.

The best feature would have to be the sky itself. Not only does it have its own day and night cycle, it also corresponds with the outside world. Daytime outside would mean daytime here, and vice versa. It took a lot of work to make something like this, but at least it was worth it to make it look this beautiful.

Blue Planet built this floor and he's a nature fanatic. It actually made sense he would go extra with this floor.

As I looked around, I felt myself relax. Just a nice quiet atmosphere in the floor itself.

That is until I heard a shout coming from above us. I turned my head upwards to see someone jump from the VIP box.

The VIP box. That is at least six-stories up.

How in the hell?

The person made a somersault mid-air and landed on their knees to negate the impact, kicking up some dust around them, but they were nevertheless unscathed.

"Victory!" The figure, a small child, held up both of their hands in a V and I took a closer look at the kid.

"This is Aura, right?" I asked Momonga.

Aura Bella Fiora is a Dark Elf, cousin to Forest Elves, and one of the twin Floor Guardians in the 6th floor along with her brother, Mare. She has bright, blonde hair that reaches just above her shoulders and seems to reflect the light. She has heterochromia eyes, one blue and the other green.

She wore light leather armor reinforced with red dragon scales and a white and gold vest over it with the sigil of Ainz Ooal Gown, proudly displaying it for anyone to see. She has a matching set of trousers and she wears a golden acorn necklace. She has a whip around her waist and a giant bow on her back.

"Yes. But if she's here, then where is Mare?" He said as he kept his eye on Aura.

Before I could say anything, Aura started sprinting towards us.

She was sprinting so fast that she's leaving a trail of dust behind her.

Could Momonga and I do that too? I rely on my speed and agility to move around while casting spells, but Momonga is a pure spellcaster. It would be worth a try.

Before reaching us, Aura dug her heels and screeched to a halt, kicking up dust clouds along the way. None of it actually touches us somehow.

If that was on purpose, I would be impressed.

She looked up at us with a wide, warm smile before bowing slightly.

"Welcome, Lord Momonga, Lord Oberon! Welcome to the floor which we guard!"

Her voice was full of the same respect and loyalty as Albedo and Sebas have, but with more enthusiasm.

I could tell it had an effect on Momonga with the way his posture relaxed. I guess it got on me too because I didn't realize I was smiling so wide.

"Hello, Aura. Oberon and I will intrude for a short while."

Aura stood up straight with that same warm smile.

"What are you saying, Lord Momonga!? You and Lord Oberon are the masters of the Great Tomb of Nazarick! There's no place that is intruded if either of you visits!" She stated with conviction.

It's nice to know that the NPCs seemed to be consistent in their loyalty towards us. I just hope that this continued with the other Floor Guardians.

"By the way, Aura, If you're here, where is Mare?" I looked around to find no sight of the other elf anywhere.

Since Aura and Mare are the twin Floor Guardians of the 6th floor, I thought they would be together.

As soon as I asked, Aura's eyes lit up in surprise before glaring back at the VIP box.

"Mare! You're being rude to Lord Momonga and Lord Oberon! Hurry up and get down here!"

I saw a figure in the VIP box in response.

"I-I can't, Sis…"

"Mare!"

"F-Fine!"

Mare jumped down the VIP box. As he landed, he stumbled a bit and tried to regain his balance.

"Ah, jeez." Aura said before turning to us. "Forgive him, my Lords. Mare is just a bit shy."

"Oh no, it's fine. I understand his timidness." I reassured Aura.

"Oberon is right. I have no doubt about your loyalty." Momonga agreed with me.

Aura smiled at us before turning back to her brother.

Mare eventually fixed himself up before running towards us.

Mare Bello Fiore is almost identical to his sister in terms of features. Same hair, same eyes, except Mare's eyes are a reverse of Aura's eyes, and the same androgyonous face along with an acorn necklace like Aura had. This one however is silver.

In terms of clothing, he wore lighter armor and a blue dragon scale suit instead of a red one. He wore a forest green-leaf cape and his vest was similar to Aura's. He is holding a twisted wooden staff.

However, he wore a short, white skirt along with white stockings that mostly covered his legs except for the spot between his skirt and leggings.

I remembered Bukubukuchagama saying that Mare is a cross dresser. When I first saw him, She had to reassure me that Mare is, in fact, a boy.

"Hurry up!" Aura chided him.

"Y-Yes!"

"Goodness!" Aura said with an annoyed face.

"I-I am sorry for making you wait, Lord Momonga, Lord Oberon." Mare said timidly with a slight bow.

"It's no trouble, Mare." I reassured the boy.

"Yes. We came today to have the two of you help us with something." Momonga said as he lifted the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown a little.

The twins looked at the staff in awe. "U-U-Um, i-is that the legendary item that only you can wield, Lord Momonga?" Mare asked with fascination.

"Right. This is the strongest guild weapon we created together. The Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown. Each stone in the mouths of the seven crowning snakes is a god artifact. On top of that, the power in the staff itself transcends god level. It is on par with any World Item." Momonga explained dramatically while Aura and Mare looked on in amazement.

I already knew about the staff since I was basically one of the people who helped create it. It did get me thinking about my abilities. Back in YGGDRASIL, I have my passives from being a Demon Fairy:

[Toxin Immunity]

[Poison Touch]

[Pheromones lll]

[Infernal Sorcery]

[Satanic Presence V]

[Damage by Ice]

[High Tier Magic Immunity lll]

[High Tier Physical Immunity lll]

And along with other passives from my job classes. I wonder if all of them work in this world. It must be the same for Momonga.

I got back to listening to Momonga's dramatic explanation of the staff.

"Its automatic attack system is especially…" Momonga trailed off, realizing he was getting off topic, and cleared his throat. "Well, anyways. That's how it is."

"A-Amazing!"

"That's so amazing, Lord Momonga!"

Wow. They must really love Momonga so much. They practically forgot I even exist.

"Oberon and I would like to run some tests with it."

We are?

"Yes! We will prepare immediately!" Aura said enthusiastically.

"Also, Aura. Momonga and I have called all the guardians here. They will gather here within the hour." I informed her.

"Huh? Is Shalltear coming as well?"

Momonga and I nodded and Aura sighed in dejection.

What was that about?

"Aura, Mare, go and get some straw dummies. Momonga and I would like to test a few things." I ordered the twins.

"Right! Come on, Mare!" Aura ran off with Mare following.

"Well, we found out that our equipment works. Do you think the same applies for our racial passives and Job Classes?" I turned to Momonga when the twins were out of sight.

"There's no reason to think they don't. I have a feeling we'll see eventually." Momonga said as we stood there, waiting for the twins to return.

When the twins returned, they were accompanied by two Dragonkin, half-dragon, half-human hybrids, who carried two dummies. They placed the two straw men in front of us. In case we needed more, they had extras right behind them.

Momonga and I walked towards them with twins looking at us with expectations. If this doesn't work, this is going to be very humiliating.

"You wanna go first or shall I?" I asked.

Shaking his head, Momonga replied. "No. Let me try."

Shrugging, I waited for him to cast a spell. Soon, he lifted his hand and pointed out his finger.

"[Fireball]" He chanted.

As soon as he said those words, an orb of flames grew on the tip of his finger and shot out towards the straw man. The straw man was scorched, along with its surroundings.

Soon, the blackened straw man is all that is left in a burnt patch on the ground.

Holy crap, Magic is real.

Holy crap, we can use Magic.

I whistled, impressed, while my eyes were wide open. Momonga was staring at his hand before looking at me.

"How did you do that?" I asked him.

"Just focus on the spell you want to cast and say its name. You should get information about the spell in your head." He told me.

"Alright then."

I held out my finger, same as Momonga, and thought about the spell I wanted to cast. I was instantly hit with the information about the spell: Mana cost, radius and other things. Along with something inside me. It feels like it was waiting for me to unleash my power.

"[Fireball]" I chanted.

Much like Momonga's fireball, an orb of flames appeared at the tip of my finger, but this one was different.

Whereas Momonga's fireball was a globe of yellow flames, this one was purple colored. It looked beautiful to look at. The sphere of fire shot forward towards the target, leaving a purple trail of flames.

It exploded in a purple fire, throwing up scorching winds and dust, and obliterated the straw doll. It set the area with dark purple flames, like it was a scene from hell itself.

Holy crap.

After the dust cleared, I saw what had happened to the straw doll.

Nothing was left. Where it was originally, a sizable crater replaced it surrounded by purple fire that still raged on.

I slowly looked at my hand that casted the spell.

I looked at Momonga, who had his jaw slightly open.

I looked at the twins, who had the Dragonkin in front of them to guard against the heat, to see Aura with a wide grin on her face and Mare with a shocked expression.

The fires slowly died down, thankfully. But I couldn't really leave that crater there, so I put my hands toward the earth and casted another spell.

"[Heal Earth]"

I only ever use [Heal Earth] whenever I'm on the battlefield to fix my surroundings, so that it wouldn't be a bother.

As I casted the spell, the earth slowly began to rebuild itself, and soon the crater was gone, as if it wasn't there to begin with. Although, the burns surrounding it might be a problem.

"So." I turned to Momonga, still staring at me. "Magic works."

"Yes." He confirmed in a quiet voice. "Yes, it does."

"Aura. Set up more straw dolls."

"Yes! You two set up more dolls!"

The Dragonkin both picked up a straw doll and set them up for us.

I looked at Momonga, who was thinking about what spell he was going to cast next.

"What spell are you gonna cast?" I asked Momonga.

He hummed in thought before he thrust his staff forward.

"[Summon Primal Fire Elemental]!"

Wait, what?

The red jewel in the staff glowed brightly as fire rose from where the dolls where until they morphed together into a fire tornado. It kicked up scorching winds in all directions. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the twins were being protected by the Dragonkin. I wasn't worried about Momonga and myself, since a shield was protecting us from the winds.

Soon, the flames started compressing, revealing a monstrous looking form made up of magma and flames.

A Primal Fire Elemental is one of the strongest elementals in YGGDRASIL and Momonga can summon one with just the staff? Color me impressed and jealous.

Aura made a noise of wonder with a look of astonishment and excitement as she stared at the Elemental.

Seeing her excitement, I had a thought.

"Aura, do you wanna fight it?"

Aura gasped in eagerness. "Can I!?"

Mare suddenly looked nervous and turned away. "U-Um, I just remembered something I needed to do."

Aura suddenly grabbed his shoulder in excitement while Mare screamed in shock and fear.

Poor guy didn't stand a chance

The twins took a stance in front of the Elemental as Momonga and I watched from the side. While Mare enthusiastically prepared her whip, Mare was holding his staff nervously.

"Primal Fire Elemental. Attack the twins." Momonga ordered it.

The Elemental roared fire towards Aura, but she jumped out of the way and tried whipping it. The whip managed to wound it but it reformed itself as quickly as it came.

The living inferno swiped its claws towards Aura but Mare protected her with a [Magic Shield].

The claw hit the shield and Aura continued whipping the Elemental while Mare was attacking it with his Magic.

Things are going pretty well for the twins. As I was watching, I heard Momonga say something.

"[Message]"

Oh, he's going to see if [Message] works. I wonder who he's going to contact.

"Oberon, can you hear me?"

Oh never mind, it's just me.

"Yeah, I can hear you."

"Good. I was testing to see if [Message] works. It seems to work on you. Can you contact any of the guild members through this?."

"I'll see if I can reach any of them." Before cutting off the connection, he told me how to use [Message].

Alright, Let's give it a shot.

[Message] is basically like a magical version of a phone. It would ring and ring, and if it couldn't get through, it would hang up.

I waited for a while but nothing.

I turned towards Momonga and shook my head.

However, I saw Momonga tense up.

After a while, he seemed to calm down and looked like he was talking with someone through a phone. [Message] must have connected with someone.

"Who was that?" I asked him as soon as I thought he was finished.

"Sebas. He told me there was a slight problem with our surroundings. He will be coming here, along with the other guardians."

"I'm sure it can't be that bad."

A/N: I might be posting the next chapter a little late, since I have a lot of work to do. I don't have anything else to say other than tell me if I did something wrong, so I can improve. Thanks for reading! See ya'll next chapter.
