Chapter 1
This is the story of how I died
(Author's Note)
Before I start this fanfiction, I want to clarify some things!
1. All the characters are the ages of their swapped roles. For example, Varian is 18 instead of 14 and Rapunzel (not in this fanfiction) is 14 instead of 18, and same goes with everyone else like Angry and Red and The Stabbington Brothers, Eugene and Cassandra, etc.
2. Most of the dialouge was used from a transcript I found on Disney Princess Wiki, and I used it as a base to write this fanfiction.
3. Yes, it is only 13 chapters long. I was going to split the last chapters in-half, but I figured that means I'd have to do more editing, so blah, here you are, 13 chapters. Plus, hey, wasn't Tangled released in 2013? (Or was it 2010?) (Dang, I don't remember.)
4. Thank you for all you readers reading my fanfictions, as these are some of my first ever fanfictions published!

Cassandra's POV is in this chapter, because of the fact she would be narrating it like Eugene (or dare I say; Flyianna Rider) was.

Cassandra's POV
"This is the story of how I died. Don't worry, this is actually a very fun story. And the truth is, it isn't even mine. This is the story of a boy, named Varian. And it starts, with the sun."
"Now, once upon a time, a single drop of sunlight fell from the heavens."
"And from this small drop of sun, grew a magic, golden, flower."
"It had the ability to heal the sick, and injured."
An old man with frizzled grey hair and a grey moustache wandered around, clutching his cloak.
"Oh, you see that old man, over there? You might want to remember him."
"He's kind of important."
"Well, centuries passed and a hop skip and a boat ride away there grew a kingdom."
"The kingdom was ruled by a beloved King and Queen. And the Queen, well she was about to have a baby, and she got sick, really, sick. She was running out of time."
"And that's when people usually start to look for a miracle."
"Or in this case, a magic golden flower."
The old man quickly headed to what appeared to be a bush, still clutching his cloak and looking around, in-case anyone was around. "Ah, I told you he'd be important."
"You see instead of sharing the Sun's gift, this man, Father Cap, hoarded its healing power and used it to keep himself young for hundreds of years."
"And all he had to do was sing a special song."
The old man, Cap, took the fake bush off of the sundrop flower and knelt down, taking his cloak off shakily, revealing his face to the moonlight above. He held his hands over the flower and began to sing in a quiet voice;
"Flower gleam and glow, let your power shine."
"Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine!"
"What once was mine..."
And soon, his wrinkled skin turned to a soft, lovely and smooth skin, and his hair (and his mustache) turned a dark brown as he finished the song.
"All right, you get the gist. He sings, he turns young. Creepy, right?"
Cap was alarmed when he heard some of the royal guards shout; "We found it!" and he quickly ran off, leaving the sundrop flower exposed. The royal guards collected the flower, turned it into a serum and then gave it to Queen Ulla to drink...
"The magic of the golden flower, healed the queen."
"A healthy baby boy, a prince was born, with beautiful golden hair."
"I'll give you a hint. That's Varian. To celebrate his birth, the King and Queen launched a flying lantern into the sky. For that one moment, everything was perfect."
"And then that moment ended."
Cap snuck into the nursery where Varian slept in his crib, and proceeded to attempt to take a strand of hair from him. Drawing a pair of scissors from his cloak, he gently ran his fingers through Varian's blonde hair and held it, putting the scissors.
He then to quietly sing, (very quietly) not to wake the baby.
"Flower, gleam and glow, let your powers shine, make the clock re-"
He cut the hair, and gasped.
The strand in Cap's hand turned brown, and so did the hair that had been cut from, leaving a small streak of brown hair through the boy's blonde hair. It had lost its powers...
"Cap broke into the castle and stole the child. Just like that... gone."
"The Kingdom searched and searched, but they could not find the Prince."
"For deep within the woods, in a hidden tower, Cap raised the child as his own."
There Cap was, in the tower, brushing toddler Varian's hair with a hairbrush. Varian sung, which caused his hair to glow, and kept Cap young, just like the sundrop flower.
"Flower gleam and glow, let your power shine."
"Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine..."
"Heal what has been hurt, change the fate's design."
"Save what has been lost, bring back what once was mine..."
"What once was mine..."
"Cap had found his new magic flower. But this time he was determined to keep it hidden."
Varian, curiously, he asked him... "Why can't I go outside?"
And Father Cap responded... "The outside world is a dangerous place. Filled with horrible, selfish people. You must stay here, where you're safe. Do you understand, flower?"
Then Varian said, "Yes, Daddy."
And didn't ask again.
"But the walls of that tower could not hide everything."
"Each year on his birthday, the King and Queen released thousands of lanterns into the sky in hope that one day, their lost Prince would return."
