Once Evan was healed enough to safely travel, Tony brought the pair back to their normal lives. Now that his time with these kids was coming to an end, he was beginning to think about what life would be like for them. What life was like for them. Peter's comments earlier about being responsible for Evan… he couldn't help but think that there was more to what he was saying. It was more than just the usual "big brother complex" he knew a kid like Peter would have. It was like he had been trying to tell him something about what her life was like at home, but he had no idea what it could be. He knew they were both strong, but for the most part, they were alone. Peter lived with just his aunt, a woman who didn't look old enough to be raising kids, much less a high schooler, and Evan lived with just her father. He hadn't gone up to her apartment as he had with Peter. He had caught her on the way out and when he asked to talk to her inside, she had laughed and said the street was a much better meeting place. When he explained everything to her, she had acted a bit like Peter: the initial denial, the surprise, but when he asked her to come with him, there was no pushback. She just agreed and said she would be ready by tonight. At the time he had thought nothing of it; he had only been thinking of putting a team together and getting Cap back. Now that he thought back on it, it seemed odd. He didn't need to talk to her father? Explain where his daughter was going for the weekend? He knew it wasn't his place to insert himself into these kids' family lives, but after what had happened, he couldn't help but feel a certain attachment to them. He knew he couldn't just let them go; use them for his own battle and forget about them. That was what his father would have done and despite everyone comparing the two of them, he was not his father.

He had Happy drive the kids home, but he came with them. He dropped Peter off with no problems. He had seemed hesitant to leave Evan, though, despite the two of them telling Peter many times that she was okay. It was just Tony and Evan with Happy driving for the rest of the way. Tony noted that she seemed jumpy the whole ride, fidgeting with her clothing, and moving around in her seat… it was anxiety he hadn't seen from her before and it caught his eye. When they pulled up to her apartment complex, he could tell she wasn't happy.

"Do I need to film an alibi video for you too? Talk to your old man or something?" Tony gestured to the phone in her hand. She gave a small, dry laugh and nodded her head no.

"I doubt he even noticed I was gone. I'll just tell him I was staying at a friend's for the weekend." Tony nodded. Almost as if someone had flipped a switch in his head, he suddenly felt like he needed to keep her in the car, to keep her safe. Something was wrong, he could tell. Every instinct was telling him not to let her go up to her apartment. He sat there staring at her, trying to find something to say that would keep her in the car a little longer, but he couldn't think of anything.

"I know you let Peter keep his suit… does that mean I get to keep mine too?" It was when the two of them said things like that that Tony was really hit with the realization that they were kids, barely teenagers.

"Yeah, kid. That's why I made them. For you to have. What use do I have for a wasp costume made for a twelve-year-old?" He smiled as she smiled and felt some of the tension in the car dissipate.

"Thanks, Mr. Stark. Will I need it again soon?" He knew that since he had given the kids a taste of what it was like to be a hero in the big leagues, they would want to come back for more. But after that disaster, he would have to really think about things much more carefully before he called them in again.

"Hopefully not for a while." Evan sensed the weight behind his words and she couldn't help but feel the heat creep up to her face as she thought of what had happened this past weekend. The shame she felt hurt almost as badly as her injuries.

"Mr. Stark… I'm really sorry about letting Captain America get away. I should have seen that guy behind me, I should have been more careful. I know you put a lot of trust in the two of us… in me… this weekend and I'm just… I'm sorry I wasn't what you needed. It was my fault he got away. If you hadn't stayed behind for me, maybe you could have gone after him." Tony could tell that she was sincere in what she was saying. He could see things in her that he saw in himself and it made him all the more worried for her.

"Kid, how many times do I have to tell you that this wasn't your fault? I know what you're capable of, I saw it this weekend, despite what you believe. No normal fifteen-year-old would put herself in harm's way the way you did. None of us did and we're trained to do that. Even though it didn't happen the way we all thought it would, it was incredible." He said everything quickly as if he were as young and as embarrassed as Evan was. She smiled, in spite of herself but looked down quickly to hide it.

"But kid, if you keep putting yourself in danger like that, I think Pete may lose it. Not to mention the stress will probably kill me. I'm older than you think." Evan nodded slightly as a silent promise not to do it again, but Tony knew that she would. My God, to have a savior complex this young? Tony knew it wasn't going to go away because he gave her a heart-to-heart. He just hoped that next time it turned out a little bit better.
