Well, I guess this was inevitable, seeing that I've started my fanfic career with Total Drama. So, guess it's time for my very own Total Drama season! No dangerous quests, no death, no near death experiences (well… probably there will be), no end of the world scenarios, just a full blown season of Total Drama hosted by Chris McLean. Now, it's time for the first ever chapter of Total Drama: Red Rose City!
We see Chef walking in front of the camera, seemingly looking for someone. Right now, we see him in front of a bus stop in a town next to a tropical beach, with the sun highlighting the clear blue sea and pristine shoreline.
"Hey, is the camera already on?" Chef asked the cameraman.
The camera nods up and down, giving Chef the answer. This makes Chef just annoyed.
"You're already recording? What about the pretty boy, Chris? He isn't here." Chef asked.
"Um, well, he told me to start recording a while ago, and he has left ever since." The cameraman states behind the scenes.
"Well where did he go? The bus is almost here, and a lot of the staff team are already dispersed around town?" Chef asked.
"Um… well…" The cameraman was unsure.
"Do you want to keep your job, soldier?!" Chef asked. "Come on, spit it!"
"Look out below!" Chris' voice was heard from above.
Suddenly, Chef was smacked into the road as Chris landed on the ground. A parachute canopy lands behind him as he recovers.
"Gah! Dang it! My entry is ruined!" Chris yelled.
"What are you talking about? You never told me about an entry!" Chef yelled.
"I spent a lot on that one parachute jump for the perfect way to introduce this season!" Chris yells. "A lot of the purchases for this season comes from my bank account as punishment for my actions in Pahkitew, so I'm trying to make this flashier than ever!"
"But-" Chef immediately gets interrupted.
"No buts!" Chris yells.
Chris grabs a broom out of nowhere and whacks Chef out of the scene in a single swing. After calming down, he regains his composure, and looks at the camera.
"Alright! I might not have a good opening shot, but that will be irrelevant once we get this brand spanking new season out of the way!" Chris yells in excitement. "As you may know, I've caused a lot of legal trouble from the network after Pahkitew finished, so to compensate, the network paid for a lot of this with my own money."
Chris begins walking until the shot sees him in front of the beach of the town.
"It's time for another season with yours truly! We are live on a tropical island somehow within Canadian territory, with beautiful beaches as far as the eye can see." Chris explains. "At least they didn't use my money to get permission to use this place, but moving on."
"In this new season, 16 of our contestants from the first, second and third generation are competing for the well known prize of one million dollars!" Chris explains. "They will unfortunately be staying in a well furnished hotel near the beach, because the network wanted me to be more 'humane' in this season. But will it really change anything? It will certainly be outclassed by the brutal, mind breaking and backbreaking challenges this season. Vacation themed challenges? Sounds contradictory, don't ya think?"
-Confessional: Chris-
We now see Chris in the iconic confessional bathroom stall from a camera directly in front of him.
"And I'm happy to say that we've retrieved the outhouse from Pahkitew and traveled it all the way to this new island." Chris says. "This place is literally the most iconic location in the show, and I wouldn't want you guys to miss it!"
We now see Chris back in front of the bus stop, now with an excited and cheeky smile on his face.
"And now, it's finally time for the moment you've all been waiting for." Chris says. "After 2 whole years, welcome one and all, to Total! Drama! Red Rose City!"
The camera then switches to a drone shot of the entire tropical island, almost 500 km of land, with sandy beaches on the western half, and rocky cliffs on the eastern half. Red Rose City was seen as a long seaside town, well organised in its structure and little to no rubbish. A large farm was seen on the far east and a small airport in the south. Everywhere else has pretty tropical flora that didn't overflow and roads that connect the areas.
Chapter 1: Welcome to Red Rose Island
We see Chris somehow standing on top of the bus stop. He looks at the road and spots the bus carrying the contestants turning a corner.
"Ah, the contestants are now here. And they seem pretty happy, probably because of this sweet place we got them." Chris says. "Hopefully we can knock that smile soon, it makes for great content."
The bus stops at the bus stop, prompting Chris to jump down onto the sidewalk. As the doors open, we see the first contestant to appear. The charming, mischievous and cunning Alejandro Burromuerto.
"Ah, Chris. Lovely island you have us on. The private jet ride cannot compare to the beauty of the landscape." Alejandro states as he walks down the bus. "Did you have a change of heart while you were gone?"
"Oh, I know, pretty sweet, right? 'Dead Donkeys Don't Talk'?" Chris asked.
"Look, Chris. I know you wouldn't pull off something like this from the bottom of your heart." Alejandro states. "So, where did the money for this come from? Did you pay for a lot of this or no?"
"Eh…" Chris tried to think of a response.
"I'll let you take your time with that thought." Alejandro states as he walks off.
As Alejandro walked off and dropped his bags, the second contestant arrived. The scrawny, smart and resourceful Harold.
"Ah, never thought Canada would have such rocking islands." Harold says.
"Ah, Harold, been a while, hasn't it?" Chris asked.
"Of course, it's about time I decided to hone my skills once again in another season of Total Drama." Harold says.
"Glad you feel that way, bud." Chris says.
Harold walks off as the third contestant walks out the bus. The kind, chill and nature loving surfer girl, Bridgette.
"Well if it isn't Bridgette the surfer." Chris says.
"Thanks for having me once again, Chris." Bridgette says. "I've heard a lot about Red Rose Island."
Another contestant follows Bridgette out of the bus, but it is not the expected lover. It was the always happy, Disney-esque singing princess Ella.
"I'm sure you have, considering your mind and soul is drawn to the great ocean blue." Ella says happily.
"Hey… Ella…" Chris' expression turned sour. "Remind me again why the network decided to bring you in?"
"I don't have any idea myself, but I'm glad I'm back." Ella says. "I sense this island's inhabitants is good at sustaining themselves and the wildlife."
"That is almost true." Chris says. "Usually some items are needed to be delivered here by boat, and any trash that piles up goes onto another boat that leaves the island every month."
The group looks at the full cement docks of the city and spots a large ship with tons of garbage as it leaves the dock.
"Don't worry, a lot of the food doesn't get wasted, most are used for composting." Chris says. "Only recyclables and packaging are thrown to the boat."
"Splendid. This is more eco friendly than the rest of Canada." Ella states.
"Eh not quite, there is some fossil fuel used for electricity here, but other than that, it's pretty neat." Chris says.
"Alright with me." Ella states.
Another group of contestants leave the bus as Bridgette and Ella leave. They were the bubbly blonde Lindsay, the friendly wannabe Beth and the clumsy jock Tyler.
"Wow, this town is so luxurious." Lindsay says. "It's almost like the resort I went to on my trip to Rio."
"I know, right? It's like a vacation." Tuler says.
"Wrong. It's like a vacation themed competition." Chris says.
"Um, that seems sort of redundant, doesn't it?" Beth states. "Like, a vacation themed competition? Sounds like a contradiction."
"What's a contradiction?" Lindsay asked.
"Nevermind that, Linds. As long as we get far, we can do as many sunny beach activities as we want!" Tyler says.
"Well actually, we're kind of getting close to the stormy season around here. Give or take a few weeks." Chris says.
"Oh… well. We can make it count." Beth says.
"Alright!" Tyler yells in excitement.
The three run to drop their bags, and another contestant emerges from the bus. The tall Australian outbacker, Jasmine.
"Ah, from the rough desert to the cold forest to a tropical paradise." Jasmine says as she takes in the tropical air. "The atmosphere here feels incredible!"
"Well, Jasmine. Nice to see you've travelled all the way from Australia." Chris says.
"It was a long flight to Ontario, but I managed." Jasmine states.
"So, how did it feel for you to come without Shawn?" Chris asked.
"A bummer, really, but I might as well push through." Jasmine says.
"That's the spirit." Chris says. "Now go place your bags nearby, let's get it moving people."
Jasmine moves away from the bus, another guy appears. The cackling, evil minded and impossibly pathetic Max.
"Hahahaha! I am back!" Max yelled out. "Now this impossibly warm Canadian land will feel the wrath of my evil!"
"Ugh, I sometimes question the network's decisions." Chris groans.
"You should question them, because everyone on this island will regret accepting whatever contract you had them sign!" Max says.
Suddenly, another contestant jumps out the bus and does a handstand on top of Max's head. This was the crazy, unpredictable redhead Izzy.
"Hey look! I think I see a cat." Izzy yelled.
"Ooh! Where did it go!" Max yells.
"Over there! I see it on that alleyway over there!" Izzy yells. "It looks like a British Blue breed!"
Izzy jumps off Max and the two of them begin to chase the cat through the alleyway. While that happens, another contestant appears. The large, lovable and friendly foodie, Owen.
"Izzy! Wait!" Owen yelled.
"Hey! Owen! It's about time a true fan favorite arrives!" Chris yells.
"Okay, I'm glad I'm here, but we gotta get Izzy and Max back here!" Owen yelled.
"Oh, don't worry, we're on it." Chris says. "And by we, I mean Chef."
Suddenly, Chef was seen riding a golf cart, riding past the camera as the others watched.
"Get back here you two! You aren't supposed to explore yet!" Chef yelled.
The golf cart moved out of shot, and some crashing sound was heard as the others looked awkwardly.
"See, it will all be handled soon." Chris says. "Now, are you glad to be back? I 'kind of' feel bad for you not being able to compete in All Stars."
"Of course I'm glad, this show is awesome!" Owen yelled.
"Ahaha! I like that enthusiasm of yours!" Chris says.
Suddenly, another contestant appears and jumps in front of Owen. The pathetic and arrogant Chris fanatic, Topher.
"If it's enthusiasm you want, then I am brim filled with enthusiasm!" Topher says.
"Ugh… why why why why…" Chris begins to squeeze his temples in annoyance.
"No need to be excited, I know I'm so hot, but don't get all jiggly on me." Topher says.
"Uh, do you mind?" Owen asked.
"No, I don't mind. Now move over to the others and let me have the spotlight." Topher says.
"O… kay?" Owen was pretty skeptical.
Owen moved to the others, as Topher prepared himself.
"Now what's up Total Drama fanatics! How's it-" Topher was immediately interrupted.
Chris jumps into the shot with a broom and whacks Topher to where the others were. He crashes into the bags at full force.
"Agh! Ow! Dangit!" Topher groans.
"I've got my eye on you, Topher." Chris said in a menacing tone.
"Oh, I see what you're doing, you're keeping a special hosting job for me in the future." Topher says. "Alright, I'll back down for now."
"Ugh….." Chris sighed incredibly audibly in annoyance. "Moving on."
Suddenly, another contestant leaps out of the bus and begins to show off his muscles. This was the arrogant, apathetic, somewhat idiotic Lightning.
"Haha! Who's up for round three?! The Lightning is!" Lightning begins bragging.
Another contestant jumps out the bus and bashes Lightning out of the way with her elbow. The arrogant, cunning and selfish Jo.
"Hey, good luck getting through with it with your mental strength, egghead." Jo insulted.
"Hey! I have good mental strength, I once stacked 5 cinder blocks on my head." Lightning complains.
"Hmm… impressive, but it doesn't count as mental strength." Jo says
Then another one pops his head out of the bus. The competitive but submissive military cadet Brick.
"Egh, it's impressive, but very dangerous for the neck." Brick says. "One of the worst ways to die is a snapped neck."
"I know, I almost had whiplash doing that, so head exercises are completely out of my list for needed workouts." Lightning states.
"Huh, looks like the only thing your air head wants to protect is your air head itself." Jo says.
"Well, Lightning, Jo and Brick, the top three athletes of the second generation contestants." Chris says.
"Wassup McLean!" Lightning yelled.
"Yeah… what's up indeed." Jo rolled her eyes.
"Nice to meet you again, Chris." Brick says while giving a salute.
"Glad to have you guys too, your banters fuel the ratings of the show." Chris says.
"Yeah… glad to hear that's the reason you're happy to see us." Jo rolled her eyes.
"I'm glad I can do this again! Maybe I can go to the finals!" Lightning yells enthusiastically.
Then finally, two more people walk out from the bus. There was the devious, mischievous miscreant Scott and the glamourous and sassy Anne Maria.
"Ah, Chris McLean." Scott says. "I'd say I'm glad to see you, but we both know that's a lie."
"Ehh… charmed." Chris rolled his eyes.
"And don't think I'll let you off the hook for that fake diamond I left the show for!" Anne Maria yelled.
"Um, it wasn't actually my fault, you decided to leave on purpose. P U R P O S E." Chris says. "It wasn't my fault for your lack of education on crystals and minerals."
"Ugh! Man, this show is annoying!" Anne Maria yelled.
-Confessional: Beth-
"Wow, I have to say, I miss the original Confessional Outhouse." Beth says as she looked around the iconic cramped bathroom. "Now imagine my surprise when I heard we're going to a tropical island for another season! Eeeek! Red Rose Island!"
-Confessional: Harold-
"Red Rose Island. Canada's Hawaii. The Unknown Paradise. This island has many names." Harold says. "At first I was in disbelief that such an island existed in Canadian territory. But this is one of the things I'll happily be corrected for. Once I get the million, I'll definitely come back here with my goddess Leshawna."
Everyone then grouped together as the bus began to leave. Then Chef arrived on his go cart with Izzy and Max on the back.
"Man, why'd you give that long of a chase?" Chris asked.
"Hey, it isn't my fault that the crazy girl can outrun a frickin helicopter." Chef says.
"I can outrun all sorts of things!" Izzy says.
"Alright! Now with the cat objective out of the way, it's time to do evil!" Max yells.
"Show now, evil later." Chris says as he shoves Max into the crowd.
As everyone finishes grouping together, Chris then gets on the golf cart with Chef.
"Now if you can follow us to the beach, we can see the new elimination area." Chris says.
We then see the group walking onto a part of the beach near the dock. There was a campfire and multiple logs surrounding it, similar to the original Wawanakwa elimination area.
"As you all know, the loser team comes here after a challenge and kicks one off the island." Chris says.
"Yeah, very original…" Jo remarks.
"And in this season, those who don't get the boot will get…" Chris says as he takes out… "A Total Drama brand holiday card!"
"Hmm, a holiday card. You're really doubling down on the vacation theme this season, huh?" Alejandro says.
"Yes, I am." Chris says. "And as you all know, those who don't get a marshmallow, or in this case a gift card, will be sent home and will probably won't be able to return at all."
"Not if I do something about it!" Max yelled.
"And in this season, the elimination method is the Flight of Shame!" Chris yelled.
Chris points to the end of the dock, and the sight was surprising. A literal golden helicopter with a lot of luxuries inside that piqued the interest of the contestants.
"Hoho! Now this is what I'm talking about!" Izzy yelled.
"Hooey! Then the ride back home wouldn't be so bad!" Anne Maria yelled.
The helicopter flew up, revealing a hot air balloon basket attached to the bottom of the helicopter by rope. This turns the expressions of the contestants from pleased to sour.
"Why did I let my guard down again?" Scott complained.
"Yep, of course." Jo says. "So, the eliminated rides the basket back home?"
"Yep! And once the finale is over, both finalists get to have a ride inside the helicopter!" Chris explains.
"Hmm, sounds good." Anne Maria states.
"Now, follow me to where you'll be staying for the next few weeks." Chris says. "It… is different than what I had you go through."
"How different?" Tyler asked.
We then see the group in front of a hotel directly facing the beach, with 10 floors and looking like it's worth 4 stars.
"Wowowow! This a sweet crib!" Lightning exclaimed.
Suddenly, Jo smacks Lightning on the head upon hearing this remark.
"Don't speak too soon, protein brain. He might pull something and we'll stay in a shack or something like that." Jo states.
"Oh, no. Not this time. The network said I should be more generous." Chris says.
"Well I'll be. Looks like this season won't be as bad as I thought." Anne Maria comments.
"Now, follow me into the hotel so we can commence the first challenge." Chris says.
"What?! We're starting already?!" Owen exclaimed.
"Yes, we are." Chris says. "Fortunately this will be a non-elimination challenge and will determine your teams."
"Oh, that's good." Beth states.
Everyone goes into the hotel, and follows Chris through a door to the basement. The basement was filled with cardboard boxes and is well lit. There are also a lot of cleaning stuff and supplies.
"Alright, guys, the first challenge will have you searching this hotel basment for room keys." Chris says. "There are 16 keys in total. In each room, you'll find a vase of a certain color, red or blue. Bring it back outside of the hotel, and those who have vases the same color as you will be your teamates until the merge or when it's necessary to switch your teams."
"So, it's luck based as always." Max states.
"But one thing to note. When a team wins a match, not including this one, they'll get a golden key to the one suite of the building." Chris says as he pulls out a golden room key with a crown tag. "They'll send one of their own teammates to find a boost idol to give your teammates easier time to do challenges."
"Ha! Teamplay! I like the sound of that!" Tyley exclaimed.
"I don't. Just saying." Jo rolled her eyes.
"Now. Ready. Set." Chris then took a long pause. "Go!"
As Chris begins walking up the stairs to exit the building, the contestants began scouring around the basement, scattering to find room keys, and hoping they don't get on the same team with the people they hate. We see Max searching around a pile of boxes, looking for both a key and something else.
"Hmm, paperclip… vacuum cleaner… walkie talkie… hmm, I might be able to make something out of this." Max says. "Maybe a controlled vacuum cleaner superweapon! This will surely spark up mayhem in the island. Bwahahahaha!"
"Max! What are you up to?!" A voice was heard behind him.
This interruption caused Max to accidentally choke on his saliva, making him cough uncontrollably.
"Agh… gah. Man, that always happens to me." Max groans.
Max turns around and sees Owen, slightly upset at him.
"Alright, what do you want, cousin?" Max asked. "Are you upset that I have another chance at displaying my EVIL?!"
"Of course I do. But as your older cousin, I have to keep you in line." Owen says.
"No chance, fat boy. I'm still looking for the key." Max says.
"I already found a key. So don't be doing something evil while I'm gone." Owen says.
"Whatever." Max rolled his eyes.
As Owen leaves the basement to find his room, we see Lindsay and Beth looking through the boxes.
"I hope I can have a view of the ocean from my window." Lindsay says. "It'd be so pretty for my modeling tryouts."
"I was just thinking the same thing. But not with the ocean, you can take pictures with the island's flora and fauna." Beth says.
"Whoa! There is a model here called Flora and Fauna?!" Lindsay gasped in excitement.
"No, what I mean is that you can model near the island's plants and animals." Beth says.
"Eeeek! That sounds just as good as the ocean!" Lindsay squealed. "And look! I found a key!" She says as she shows a key.
"Me too!" Beth says as she pulls out her own key. "Come on! Let's go!"
"Wait! What about Tyler?" Lindsay asked where her boyfriend was.
Suddenly, Tyler drops down from the ceiling, with a key in hand.
"Ouch! Who would put a key on a ceiling fan?" Tyler asked.
"Oh, there you are Tyler!" Lindsay says.
"Come on!" Beth says.
"Alright!" Tyler says.
6 Minutes Later…
We see Lightning trying to stick a key into the door of Room 89. But it doesn't seem to fit.
"Gah! How's a key labeled the same as the room but doesn't even fit?!" Lightning yelled in annoyance. "Screw it! I'll just bash through the door!"
As Lightning moves back for more momentum, Alejandro runs by as he notices this.
"Um… what are you doing?" Alejandro asks as he stops by.
"This damn door won't open. I have the key for Room 89 but it won't budge!" Lightning explains in frustration.
"Hmm, let me see that." Alejandro says as he grabs the key and inspects it. "Ah, I see."
Alejandro flips the tag, showing the number 68.
"Try to go to Room 68, it's a few floors down." Alejandro explains.
"Alright! Thanks, brother!" Lightning says.
As Lightning and Alejandro went their ways, Alejandro smirks.
-Confessional: Alejandro-
"A thing I notice about most of the people here, they're either weak-willed, idiotic, or weak in general. But since some know my true intentions, I should lay low under the radar and slowly give them a sense of ease. All until the cover is blown, which will probably be never." Alejandro says.
4 Minutes Later…
We now cut to the outside of the hotel, where 12 contestants had finished getting their vases. The ones with red vases were as follows; Alejandro, Anne Maria, Bridgette, Harold, Jasmine and Owen. The ones with blue vases were as follows; Beth, Brick, Jo, Lightning, Lindsay and Tyler.
"Well well well, I see a lot of you guys have already finished." Chris says as he arrives by golf cart. "And it's only been 10 minutes. Pretty good."
"Yes! We're on the same team again Beth!" Lindsay yelled.
"I know! This is gonna be awesome!" Beth yelled.
"Stop with the shrieking ladies. It's getting annoying." Jo rolled her eyes.
"Well, I'm happy with this team." Jasmine says. "But frankly, there is someone I know we should be wary of."
Then suddenly, all eyes of the red vases turn to Alejandro.
"I can't even be mad. And frankly, I'm not even regretting my game plans." Alejandro states.
"Eh, I don't really know. But he's kind of a hottie as well." Anne Maria states.
"Wait! Where's Izzy and Max?" Owen asked.
Suddenly, someone was seen descending from the roof of the hotel. Slowly but surely.
"Oh how lovely it is!" Ella was seen floating down, with her fall being slowed by a bunch of sparrows, and carrying a blue vase on her head. "But it appears my friends from Pahkitew aren't with me this time. That's a shame." She states as she notices the colors of the vases of her competitors.
"Wow, how majestic." Lindsay says in wonder.
"Well, it's physically impossible but I guess it is." Harold remarked.
As Ella landed on the ground, another figure was seen on the roof.
"Look out below!" Izzy was seen on the roof carrying a large parasol.
"Wait, is she literally about to jump from the roof with an umbrella?" Anne Maria asked.
"Here we go!" Izzy yelled.
As Izzy opens up the parasol and jumps off the roof, the wind picks up, and Izzy begins to fly off of trajectory.
"Whoa! Where am I going now?" Izzy asked.
"Hey Izzy!" Chris yelled out. "What colored vase do you have?! Tell us before you fly away too far!"
"Oh, I have a red vase!" Izzy says as she pulls out a red vase from who knows where. "I'm on your team, Owen!"
"Alright!" Owen yelled out in celebration.
"So, while the crazy girl flies away, anybody else gonna jump from the roof?" Jo asked.
Suddenly, a thud was heard. The group looks behind and sees Max crashed onto the ground, with a shattered red vase next to him.
"I may have had a few miscalculations with the jump." Max states weakly.
"And Max is on the red team. Which means the last one is-" Chris suddenly gets interrupted.
A golf cart was seen crashing behind the one Chris was in. The person inside was Topher, holding a blue vase.
"And Topher is on the blue team!" Topher announced as he held up his vase.
"Dude! The golf carts are property of the island!" Chris yelled.
Suddenly, a local wearing a black suit appears behind Chris, pulling a gesture telling him to give him his money.
"Ugh, fine." Chris groans.
Chris gives the local the money, then he walks off screen.
"So, do I have better driving skills than Chris?" Topher asked.
"No, you don't. Now get over there!" Chris yelled.
Chris pulls out the broom again and whacks Topher off the broken golf cart and near the cast.
"So, the challenge is now done. Group together with the competitors who have the same colored vases." Chris says.
The competitors quickly split up into two groups; those who have red vases and those who have blue vases.
"So, the contestants with red vases." Chris says. "Your team will be known as the Tropical Hikers!"
Chris then shows a red banner to the group, revealing a symbol resembling a coconut tree under the sunlight.
"And lastly, those with the blue vases." Chris then turns to the blue team. "Your team will be known as the Oceanic Explorers!"
Chris shows a blue banner with a symbol of a tidal wave under the moonlight.
"And that's it for the teams!" Chris says as he looks to the camera. "In this new season of Total Drama, these 16 contestants will rough it up against each other in gruesome and brutal challenges, all the while staying in this lovely island city! Kind of like the yin and yang of both worlds."
"Who will falter from the whiplash? Who will get the first boot? And who will live to see another day in the sunny paradise of…" Chris then pauses for dramatic effect. "TOTAL! DRAMA! RED ROSE CITY!"
"I'm Mary Poppins, y'all!" Izzy was seen returning, still flying on a parasol, as she crashes into the hotel window.
"Izzy! That's hotel property!" Chris yelled. "Well, at least glass isn't too expensive."
