Luna's band the Moon Goats were travelling for a major event that they were going to be performing at in Salem, Massachusetts for Halloween. Various bands that had submitted spooky songs had just been chosen to perform in a contest that would actually be on television! Luna had introduced her bandmates to a song she sang for her sister's corn maze entitled 'Tricked' which they loved and they came out with a band cover for the song that apparently impressed the judges enough to be selected.
"This is going to be great! We get to appear on television together!" Sully exclaimed happily.
"Y'know something dudes, I wouldn't want it any other way," said Luna with a smile. She had learned a huge lesson about trying to be something she wasn't on one show some time ago, and again when trying to join a band that she wasn't clashing with.
Upon getting to the venue, they started meeting some other groups who had been selected. There was no hostility between anyone, after all they were all artists passionate about their art and they were just engaging in a little friendly competition.
"Alright folks, best get your stuff ready, we start in half an hour and we look forward to hearing what you came up with!" a female voice rang out. The Moon Goats looked over to find the source of the voice and found three girls around their age had just entered the room.
One of them was dark-haired sporting a necklace with a red bat and wore a black and red dress that would have been perfect for a Bride of Dracula costume. The second was blonde with short pigtails with black and green lipstick and eye shadow. She wore a green dress with green earrings and a silver X hung around her neck. The third was red-haired with a dark purple jacket, an ankle length skirt of the same color, purple fingerless gloves and a gold medallion. All three of them seemed to have fangs.
It took a moment for Luna to recognize them, she had seen pictures of them in her sister Lucy's scrapbook. She ran up to them hoping to greet them.
"The Hex Girls! No way! My little sister Lucy loves you gals!" she told them, reaching out a hand to shake. The Hex Girls each shook her hand.
"Well tell her that we said hi, my name is Thorn, these are my sisters in rock, this here's Luna and Dusk," the lead one said.
"No way! My name's Luna as well!" exclaimed the now very excited rocker from Michigan. The rest of the Moon Goats joined in on the conversation.
"So, what brings you three here, I mean, with your reputation, I would think you would have already won something like this hands down," inquired Sam, trying to sound polite, as well as curious.
"Oh, we were selected to judge the contest, takes a goth musician to recognize the right spooky song after all," replied Dusk before laughing. After a quick good luck from the Hex Girls they headed off. Luna quickly texted to Lucy that she had met the Hex Girls and to be sure to watch the contest on TV.
When it came time for the Moon Goats to perform, they came onstage wearing spooky costumes. Luna had her skeleton costume with a top hat. Mazzy was wearing a witch costume, with a faux spider hanging from the tip of the hat. Sam had on a Bride of Frankenstein costume while Sully donned a Dracula costume. Fog rolled in and they started singing
When darkness falls on the house of Loud
Around every turn new terror abounds
You don't want to lose your head
Ha-Ha-Ha
You can run but you can't hide
They know that you test better alive
I don't think that they've been fed
In a long, long time
Every corner, every door
Watch out, they ain't herbivores
Ghastly ghouls out for blood
Sorry bud
You got tricked, you got tricked
You got punked and pranked with a spooky twist
Before you wet your pants better get out quick
Tricked, tricked, tricked
You got tricked
Beware of fangs and bloody fur
A Loud House chainsaw massacre
There's no chance that you'll get out
Ghosts writing your eulogy
Heads are rolling literally
So who needs their mommy now?
Spilling guts on the floor
Clean up on Aisle 4
Why you running off so soon?
Sorry dude
You got tricked, you got tricked
You got punked and pranked with a spooky twist
Before you wet your pants better get out quick
Tricked, tricked, tricked
You got tricked
They got cheered for their performance and after the applause died down enough, the Moon Goats stepped down so the Hex Girls could ask them a few questions.
"That was awesome! May I ask where you got the inspiration?" asked Thorn.
"Well, this one year for Halloween, my sister Lucy had a couple of us help out with her haunted corn maze. Tragically, two great big jerks almost ruined everyone's Halloween on our block by destroying our pumpkins and taking the candy. But my bro Lincoln and his buddy Clyde tricked them into going in and while I played that song, my family scared the beejezus outta them!" explained Luna.
"She taught it to us, and we arranged so that we could all play along in it," spoke up Sam.
"Well, that is an interesting story, and it seems to us Luna that you're very family-oriented. I just hope nobody got hurt when you scared the bullies," said Dusk.
"Oh no, we're not monsters, we just gave them a good right scare! After that, we got more kids to go through the maze accompanied by music from yours truly. They loved it!" assured Luna.
"Well, I'd make sure to get out of a sticky situation before I wet my pants, great job guys!" said the Hex Girls' Luna with a laugh. Another applause before the next band came on.
At the end of the show, the Moon Goats took home a second-place trophy, but they weren't horribly upset. They had fun together and met some cool people. And they still got something, technically. Shortly before they were getting to return to their hotel room, they were approached by the Hex Girls.
"Hey, fellow Luna, I have something for you," said Luna (of the Hex Girls). She handed the Moon Goats' Luna an eight by ten photo which Luna saw was a photo of the band with their autographs. Inscribed were: 'To Lucy, Stay Spooky heart Thorn,' 'To Lucy, Rock On! heart Dusk,' 'To Lucy, Best Wishes heart Luna.'
"Wow! Thanks you guys, Luce is gonna love this!" exclaimed Luna Loud happily.
"We were touched to hear how you took inspiration from your younger sister and how your family clearly means so much to you. We wish you guys the best, and great job out there!" The bands shook hands and thanked each other, clearly parting as friends.
