Chapter 2: "Current News"
"Hi! I'm Tania Katashi and this is my co host Mei. Say hi to everyone Mei."
Mei: "Hi."
"Aha. Oh you silly, clumsy girl. What are you shy?"
Mei: "Um well…"
"Oh don't be. There's hardly anything to be shy about when you're over 30 meters tall and-
Mei: "Stop! Stop!"
"I'm just teasing you. Don't need to get so flustered like that. See everyone? Notice how she didn't react with extreme violence? See, that's the sort of behaviour that I expect out of- mm. Uh huh. Sorry about that. My managers just told me I need to stay focused on reporting, so with that out of the way, allow me to give you all a brief description of my co host. Or would you like to do the honors, Mei?"
Mei: "You go ahead."
"Okay then. As you can all hopefully see, though if you can't i will explain it to you. My co-host, Mei- Shi, is a 37 meter tall giantess. She is quite shy but don't you worry. She's not like all those other giantesses, not even that Narue. Bleh. See this gal? She's a real gentle sweetheart, right Mei?"
Mei: "R-right. So onto today's topic of inter-"
"Hey! Did I give you permission to speak?"
Mei: "Huh? But I-"
"I didn't."
Mei: "But aren't we-"
"Ay yai yai. Geez, this what I meant when I said they should be more careful with newbies. It's like they hardly understand their place."
Mei: …
"Mm? You want to have a go at it."
Mei…
"Oh would you please just answer the question?"
Mei: "Yes I would-"
"Wrong answer!
Mei: …
"Geez you're so slow. Here. Let me show you how a professional does it. Ahem! Death to giants and titans? Or Liberate our enlarged ones? Which is the right choice for our government to make? What would be most sensible to our current society? As several of you are aware, just over the first couple of weeks this March, the existence of the enlarged has been officially confirmed and ever since then we have been living in a world where nearly anyone can become the size of a skyscraper or as small as a scampering mouse. Naturally being normal sized, we felt an immense pressure from those who were increased in stature and so our government set up systems to keep the enlarged in check. But, as some advocates are suggesting, could this be an over breach? Sure, we are not the United States, however is not Japan a nation of great values? They ask and point to the other countries. In Russia, the enlarged have been employed to help with the transferring of goods. America? As much as it pains me to say it, but I personally think they've have at least one thing right. In America, the enlarged are seen as celebrities, greatly admired are they. Even in India, the enlarged are treated as leaders, perhaps spiritual gurus. So why are we any different? Why must we keep them behind locked chains? To what do we have to be afraid of? This of course is absurd! Perhaps these other nations have already lost it, but the enlarged violate the cube-square law, no. It's not that they violate it, but it's the fact that despite their size they are still able to move around as if they were just normal sized. Our country tooked the approach we did because we recognise the threat these giants and giantesses pose not only to each other, but to our very being! And that is why they must remain locked up! Ignore those ignorant fools. They know not what they are speaking. Oh, and there are those saying we should allow the shrunken to live on their own. What are they saying? I don't get it, do you? Without our protection they would die out so easily. Is this what we want? To become monsters? I should hope not. Sure, we may seem scary to them, but in the end we're just doing it for them. Without us, where would they be? In non-enlarged news, chicken or beef? Who shall reign supreme? Colander Sanders and his fried chicken or the might of the King? The Burger King? Mm. I don't know about you Mei, but I could go for some fried chicken right now."
Mei: "I'd much prefer a burger patty."
"Noted, I'll treat you out later, okay?"
Mei: "Yes. I'd greatly appreciate that."
"Lastly, to report. Hey! Let's get a learning. Come join us to a wonderful land of opportunities and educational fun. Directed by the heir of the-"
…
"Oh I'm sorry. I'm not at liberty to reveal this. Just go visit the Glittering Compass for more details. I am sure you will have a blast over there. I know I have. Well with nothing else to report-"
Mei: "Say. What's that over there?"
"That? Why that is the billowing smoke of a descending Kawasaki P2V-7 VSA as it is spiraling down due to a… a- Oh dear lord! Who could be piloting that plane in a time like this right now? And in that condition?! Mei! Get there quickly."
Mei: "On it!'
Duusu's POV
Duusu: "Mayday! Mayday! Aoi! Are you sure you don't want me to steer this thing."
…
Aoi: "I can handle this thing?"
Duusu: "Are you sure? Cause you know, we're about to crash."
Aoi: "Well I'm not the most experienced at flying, but why should it matter to you? I fail to see why you are acting this way. You are immortal, are you not? What there does a meaning to my life?"
Oh dear lord. Now of all times?
Aoi: "I have lived long enough. Let us all go out in a bang."
Duusu: "That's not very funny, Aoi."
Aoi: "It wasn't? Hm. It looks like I could some more improvement in my joke making capabilities. Well don't be too fussy. Soon we are going to become liked mince particles on the ocean floor. Joy, What fun."
…
Unbelievable. I knew it. I knew I shouldn't have let her pilot this thing. She's just too green at this.
Duusu: "Augh! Let me handle this!"
I clap my stubby arms together.
Duusu: "Transceiver! I am now dismissing you!"
With my command Transceiver dissolves away from reality.
Duusu: "Temporarily…"
Taking out a feather from my pouch, I hastily infuse it with my powers turning it into an amok. I then slam the amok into the dashboard.
Duusu: "Senti-Airliner. Get us safely down and find us some place safe to land!"
Hearing my orders, my airplane sentimonster to which both Aoi and I were inside followed my instructions. Once I had confirmed we had landed safely, I quickly dismissed Senti-Airliner and recreate Transceiver so Aoi won't struggle with perceiving me. Being partially human, she can still at times notice my presence, but because what remains of her is mostly just machine, she has a really hard time seeing or hearing me without this sentimonster. Oh she can do it without this sentimonster but it's incredibly difficult. It's much more practical just to have a sentimonster to allow us to communicate with one another more easily.
Duusu: "So we've arrived. Any idea where we should go to next?"
Aoi looks around and with a nod of her head, she begins heading off towards a direction with me trailing behind her.
