Chapter 1: An Inkling and Salmonid Duo
Somewhere on the outskirts of the Splatslands is a Smallfry Salmonid and an Inkling sitting on their home turf. The Inkling is in a hooded cloak, with silver sunshades and an oxygen mask in their mouth.
The Inkling took off their hood while they thought, "Such a life, indeed. Looking for sellable scrap. But thanks to my value senses and Sammy's nose, we are loaded by the end of the week."
Pulling out their oxygen masks, they said in a high-pitched masculine voice, "Look at me. I regret being an Inkling due to my deep hatred of my kind. I rather call myself a Salmonling."
When he removes his glasses, he says to the Smallfry, "Do you agree, Sammy?"
Then Sammy said in Salmonid, "(If you say so, Tyler. But are you still going to hate on Inklings and Octoling? Not all of them are bad.)."
Tyler then stands up for his cloak to fall off and says, "Of course I will. All Inklings are the same: they're always looking for entertainment in turf wars."
He begins away a bit as he continues, "And the same goes for the Octolings: they are merciless with the thirst to kill anything in sight."
Sammy then scuttles close to Tyler as he picks up a bag of scraps.
"(I love you, Big Bro. But there are some issues you need to fix.)," said Sammy.
But then Sammy sniffs around and goes forward.
"You got something, Sammy? Alright," said Tyler, following his younger brother.
When they came across a box, Tyler opened it to find a Yellow Splattershot Jr.
"Woah, this looks old. It got to be worth three times the average Splattershot Jr. price on the market. But if this shooter still works, it will be six times more than it's worth," said Tyler.
"(Give it a try, Tyler.)," Sammy said as he hopped.
When Tyler starts to shoot all over, he says, "Right on. Come on, Sammy. Let's get to Splatsville, the City of Chaos, for mola!"
"(Right back at ya!)."
The duo soon reaches a train station for a grey metro train covered in graffiti to arrive. Once they got on and sat down, the train drove off. Anarchy Rainbow soon plays as it runs.
"(Do you think they'll clean this train up from its graffiti? I doubt this train is sanitary.)," Sammy mumbled.
"Where's the fun in that?" Tyler responds.
Sammy then gets on Tyler's lap so he can be petted.
Then Tyler thought, "Five years….We've been on our own, and raising you on my own is hard. It's a shame you never got to know your Mom and Dad, Sammy. They would've loved you. I wonder if my parents would've loved to meet you."
As Tyler looked out the window, the train intercom said, "Now, entering Splatsville Station."
The duo soon got off the train to go to a market booth. A jellyfish is running as Tyler shows him the bag of scrap.
When he poured it on the counter, the jellyfish said, "Well, back with some loaded, ey? If you keep finding more goods like this, Tyler, I might run out of money to give you. But you're my best provider."
"T'weren't nothin'," Tyler said as the jellyfish took the scrap and placed a big bag of money in front.
When Tyler takes it, he says, "Pleasure doing business with ya."
As the duo walked off, the jellyfish said, "Good kid, but his face expression scares me."
While the duo continues to walk, other Inklings and Octolings begin to stare at them. But some males and females are blushing at the sight of Tyler.
They commented, "Is that a boy or a girl? They are so dreamy. How cute they got a pet Smallfry. Hubba-hubba! Oh, la la! They're so cool. I like a girl or boy who plays hard to get. Imitating scowl aside, they make me want to ink. What a seafood dish."
Annoyed, Tyler let out a digested sigh, making everyone squeal in delight. Tyler rolls his eyes before Sammy hops into his arms.
Sammy spoke in excitement, "(Tyler! Tyler, look at that window! It's the Anarchy Splatcast!)."
"Eeeeh! Deep Cut! My Big Man! Come on, Sammy. Let's watch through it before it gets crowded," said Tyler, running over there quickly.
"Starting broadcast in 3…2…1!" a jellyfish said, manning the camera as it flashed red.
Then Shiver, the Octoling member, said, "Listen up! It's going down… Repping the Splatlands, we are DEEP CUT!"
"Anarchy Splatcast! We're live!" Frye, the Inking member, shouted.
"Ay! (Here we go!)." Big Man, the Manta Ray member, said.
"You lip-synch, we drip ink…," Shiver said.
"Ay, ay, ay! (Shiver, Frye, and Big Man!)" Big Man added.
"I love you, Big Man!" Tyler said.
"(I love you, Deep Cut!)," said Sammy.
"Ay! (Breaking news! Hot of the press!)." Big Man said.
"Oh, you got something, Big Man? Let's hear it!" Shiver said.
When Big Man holds the TV and shows the report, Frye says, "Uh, this was MY story to break. The Great Zapfish is gone!"
Everyone gasped in horror. Tyler and Sammy were so shocked that they looked at each other in concern.
"It basically powers the whole city! We need it back soon, or it lights out…," Shiver worried.
"Time to conserve. Turn off lights, and set the temp to a cool 90 degrees Fahrenheit," Frye suggested.
"Ay! (That's 32 degrees Celsius, and it is NOT cool! Call us if you find the Zapfish!)." Big Man said.
After calming down, Shiver says, "And that's it…for now."
"Ay! (Let's get outta here!)." Big Man added.
"From Splatsville, that's a wrap."
Deep Cut does their signature poses together as Shiver and Frye say, "Catch ya later!"
"And we're out!" the jellyfish cameraman said.
As the crowd leaves the window, Tyler and Sammy look at Tyler's phone as he pulls it up. He looks through so much news about the Great Zapfish being missing.
"There's no doubt about it. The ultimate power source has vanished. It looks like I'll have to do an outdoor cookout for dinner when we get home, Sammy," said Tyler.
Sammy jumped out of his adoptive older brother's arms and said, "(Sushi that! We got to do something about this. I don't want to sit around a do nothing.)."
Sammy then goes to the manhole before Tyler catches up to say, "As much as I agree with you, Sammy, what can we do? We're just scrapping hunters. It's not the answer to our desire to find the Great Zapfish will appear out of the underground."
"Psst! Hey! Did I hear you want to find the Great Zapfish?" a voice said.
"Who said that?"
"Down here."
When the duo looked down, they found a pair of eyes, and they continued, "I couldn't help but overhear you wanting to find the Great Zapfish. If you wish to figure out what happened to it, follow me here. I may have the answers you are looking for."
When the eyes disappeared, Sammy immediately when down into them and said, "(Let's go, Big Bro! This is our chance!)."
"Sammy! Wait up! You know you're not supposed to follow strangers," Tyler said before spawning into Squid form to follow.
Meanwhile, three shadows from a distance spotted the commotion.
"Smells fishy," said one of them.
"Smells like opportunity," said another.
"Smells like we might've found what we're looking for," the last one said.
"Let's follow them," said all three before walking forward into the manhole.
