Harry fell out of the floo and would've fallen to the ground if Draco hadn't caught him.
"Thank you!" Harry said.
"Don't worry, Harry. I'll always be around to catch you!" Draco said proudly. He heard someone gagging before he turned and saw they had an audience. Mr. Malfoy plucked Harry out of Draco's arms and hugged him. "Harry, my lovely boy! I've missed you so much! Has anyone given you any more trouble? How were your exams? Don't worry one bit! Father will take care of it if you don't do well!" Harry didn't know how anyone could say the Malfoy Lord was cruel when he acted like this.
"I think I did well. Hermione insisted on having a study group so that helped a lot." Hermione had been a nightmare during exams. After turning in her last one, she had fallen to the ground in a dead faint. The Weasley twins had carried her back to the common room.
"That's wonderful, dear! I'm so glad you have such lovely friends!" Mrs. Malfoy hugged him tightly. She patted his back before saying "Cousin Sirius is staying with us until we can get his old house in order." Harry peeked around Mrs. Malfoy and saw Draco having a staring match with a thin man. His hair hung to his shoulders and he saw tattoos peak out from underneath his collar. When Sirius saw Harry looking at him, he broke eye contact with Draco. Ignoring his triumphant grin, he leaned down and said "hi pup, I hope you don't mind this old dog staying with you."
"I don't mind." He said, feeling bashful. They moved out of the floo room and Harry couldn't stop looking around. The manor was huge! There were moving pictures on the walls and the floor was marble. The whole place screamed wealth.
"Come on, Harry! I'll show you my room! I had the house elves bring in an extra bed so we can share!" He raced after Draco, his chest warm with happiness.
As they lay in bed that night, he turned and whispered "Draco, are you awake?"
"Yes." Draco whispered back.
"You are the best thing that's ever happened to me and I'm so happy" Harry admitted, his voice echoing in the silent room. Draco didn't reply and Harry felt his bed dip before Draco climbed in.
"I love you too, Harry." He said. The boys fell asleep holding hands and dreaming of their future together.

Lucius stared at Sirius as he wiggled around in his chair.
"When is Harry going to get up?" He whined, sounding like the dog he was.
"When he gets up. You're the one who's been up since 5:30. A growing boy needs his rest" Lucius responded back. He poured himself some tea as Draco joined them. His son was practically skipping.
"Good morning, Father. Lord Black. Isn't it beautiful out today?" He said cheerfully.
"Tiny Malfoy, you're rather chipper this morning." Sirius said. Lucius can't believe he gave Draco an opening! Lucius loved his son more than anything but he had been hearing him sing Harry's praises since he was eight! A man could only take so much. Resigning himself to his fate, he pushed his tea away and poured himself a cup of coffee.
"How could I not be in a good mood? Harry and I slept together last night!" He announced. Lucius spat his coffee out and watched as it sprayed all over Sirius. Sirius was frozen as coffee dripped down his face. They had WHAT? Before Sirius Black murdered his son, he quickly asked Draco what he meant.
"What I said Father. Harry and I shared a bed. It was kind of like a sleepover!" Heaving a sigh of relief, he called an elf to bring Sirius a rag. He swore his hair was going to fall out one day! Sirius changed into a new shirt as a thud hit the door. It opened to reveal a bleary eyed Harry, rubbing the red spot on his forehead. Lucius realized he must have run into the door and tried not to laugh. His second son stumbled blindly towards the table and he saw that Harry wasn't wearing his glasses. Draco stood up and pulled out Harry's chair. Once seated Harry squinted at Draco and said "have you seen my glasses? I can't seem to find them." He broke into a yawn. Draco gave a laugh before he replied "they're on top of your head, Harry!" Sirius joined in on the laughter as the elves brought in breakfast. He would have to save this memory and show Narcissa. She had left early to get everything prepared for the Ball. It would take place on the 20th and then they would celebrate Yule on the 21st. He couldn't wait to dance with his darling wife. She looked beautiful everyday but nothing beat the sight of her underneath the fairy lights.
"You know Harry, when James and I were in our second year, I bought him a chain for his glasses? He wore it everyday! Lily used to say he looked like an old woman but I thought he looked rather attractive! I think I still have it, if you want it" Sirius said as he spread jam on his toast.
Harry looked at him before saying "that sounds nice. I'm always losing my glasses. Hermione says I should change my name to Velma!" He giggled. The three purebloods looked at him in confusion before joining in.

Draco gave a sharp whistle and watched his peacocks come running. Harry was bouncing on his toes next to him. They lined up in a straight line before he pointed them out to Harry.
"This one is Cotton. In the middle we have Snowball and Snowflake. Bringing up the rear we have Marshmallow!" Harry let out a gasp as all four flared out their tail feathers. His parents had bought them after the Dark Lord fell. They were supposed to symbolize rebirth and removing negative energy. They had allowed their four year old son to name the mighty birds. Draco had been worried that Harry wouldn't like their childish names but he shouldn't have. Harry immediately started petting Snowball. She cooed at his attention and nuzzled closer. Harry laughed as Snowflake came up to his other side.
"Be careful with Marshmallow, Harry. He's the only male so he can be a handful!" Draco couldn't count how many times the bird had bitten him growing up. As if he understood what Draco said, Marshmallow rubbed his head against Harry's side and gave a chirp.
"You little!" Draco chased the peacock around the yard, sliping a few times. An hour passed before Lord Black was calling them inside. He had two cups of cocoa and a plate of cookies set out for them.
"Alright boys, drink up! We don't want you getting sick before the Ball!" Lord Black said before having one of the elves start up the fireplace.

Hermione had never been to a Ball before! Daphne Greengrass and Pansy Parkinson had helped her pick out a dress for the occasion. It was a pretty cream color. It had little sparkles sewn into the mesh overlay and it puffed out at the bottom. Her mum had helped her put her hair into two braids before forming a bun on either side of her head. It reminded her of Princess Leia from Star Wars. Draco had said Dobby would pick her up around five so she slipped her shoes on and waited. At exactly five, Dobby appeared.
"Hello Vice-President!" He greeted her.
"Hello Dobby!" She gave her mum and dad a hug before taking his hand. They arrived at the entrance to the Ball and there was a man in uniform announcing guests. She lined up behind Marcus Flint and his parents.
"Hello Hermione. You look lovely this evening." He greeted her. His parents stared at her before she replied "Hello Marcus, you look very handsome." He turned to his parents and said "this is Hermione Granger, the one who's writing that essay I showed you!" His father nodded his head before saying "a pleasure to meet you, Miss. Granger! Your essay is simply phenomenal! I can't wait to hear what the school board says!" They talked back and forth about the devastating effect of positive reinforcement vs negative reinforcement. She felt someone come up behind her before a voice called out "there you are, Herm! You look nice." Turning she spotted the Weasley family. Ron had on light blue dress robes that didn't clash with his hair.
"Hello Ron! You look very spiffy!" She answered back! He gave a laugh and said "Thanks Herm! Are you excited?" Before she could respond, the twins stepped forward. They were both wearing navy dress robes and looked rather dashing.
"Well well well, I didn't recognize Herm in that getup! How about you Forge?" Twin Two said.
Twin One replied with "you're right, Gred! I don't even see a single book in sight!" The twins took both of her hands and gave it a peck before saying in unison "you look stunning tonight, miss Granger!" She could feel her cheeks flush and she gave a quick thank you.
"Ignore those two, Herm. I like your hair." Percy commented, brushing down the nonexistent wrinkles of his dark green robes.
"Thank you Percy! Did you read my letter?" She said.
"Of course! I think it's just plain genius! We could-" he stopped as he noticed Marcus staring at him.
"Ah, hello Flint," he said awkwardly.
"Percy, you look nice in those robes." Marcus said loudly, causing other people in line to stare at them.
"Er thanks. You too!" Percy muttered back. The twins started snickering before Mrs. Weasley gave them a look.
"Oh this is Ginny, our little sister." The girl was standing beside Mr. Weasley and gave a wave.
"Mum, where's Harry Potter?" She asked, looking around.
"He's probably under some mistletoe with Draco!" Blaise Zabini called out, making all of the other first years laugh.
"You better not let Snape hear you or he'll throw himself down the stairs!" Ron yelled back, causing Neville, who just arrived to groan.
"He better not! I bet he would do it our third year!"
The parents looked at each other as the children all laughed. No one noticed little Ginny Weasley frowning to herself.

Harry was going to throw up. He tugged at his black robes for the tenth time. Mrs. Malfoy had helped him get dressed. His whole outfit was black except for the golden broach holding his robe closed and the gold chain his glasses were on. Sirius had given it to him the night before and Harry had happily accepted it. It was nice to have something that belonged to his parents. It kind of made Harry feel a little bit closer to them. Sirius walked through the door and he was also dressed in all black.
"You alright there, pup? You're looking a little green." Sirius asked.
"What if I trip down the stairs!" Harry said loudly, his nerves getting the best of him. Sirius let out a grimace and said between his teeth "then your little boyfriend will catch you, I suppose." That's right. Draco was waiting for him. He could do this. Straightening his shoulders, he took a deep breath. They would be the last ones to be announced. It was to show how highly the Malfoy's thought of them. He heard the attendant say "Lord Black and Heir Potter" and he stepped into the spotlight. People were all staring at them as they made their way down the staircase. He found Draco instantly. He and the Malfoy's were wearing bright white robes. Mrs. Malfoy's hair was curled and she had little diamonds throughout her hair. Mr. Malfoy had his hair in a braid down his back with a fancy looking crown on his head. Harry decided he was definitely going to grow his hair out because Mr. Malfoy looked so cool! Bringing his eyes back to Draco, he couldn't stop his smile. Draco was waving his hands back and forth as if Harry couldn't see him. They finally made it down the stairs and Draco picked him up and spun him around.
"You look absolutely magnificent, darling! Everyone here pales in comparison to your beauty!" Draco said, causing Vince to shout out "get a room, Draco!"
"You look really nice too, Draco!" He preened, his face showing his happiness.
"Harry, I knew you would look cute in those robes!" Mrs. Malfoy cooed as she petted his hair.
"Thank you. You look really pretty." She gave him a hug and he saw Mr. Malfoy sniffle into a handkerchief.
"I like your crown. You look very cool!" Harry told the man, causing him to sniffle even louder.
"Did you hear my sweet son, Cissy? I look cool!" She dragged Mr. Malfoy away before he could cause a bigger scene and Sirius followed them, cackling to himself.
"Well Harry, may I have this dance?" Draco asked, bending down until he was on one knee. Harry heard the slytherins catcalling them but he paid them no mind.
"It would be my honor, Draco!" As they twirled around on the dance floor, Harry didn't think anything could ruin this night. He didn't notice two brown eyes glaring at them from the crowd.
