When they first met, Chiro was just a kid who stumbled upon a huge robot.
He didn't know how to fight, not like how he did now. He was inexperienced, overconfident (until he was defeated in a test fight), not to mention impatient, but Antauri managed to help polish everything Chiro needed to work on. Chiro had potential, so much more potential than Mandarin ever had, he just needed guidance. At first it was difficult to mentor him, but Antauri was willing to take however much time he needed.
Chiro usually got distracted, though it was never as bad as when Gibson tried to teach him something. With Gibson, Chiro had the worst attention span Antauri had ever seen. The kid just wanted to 'get to the good parts already' but Antauri stayed persistent. Everything was necessary for him to learn, no matter how tedious it was for him. He eventually got better, though.
Now, with everything they had been through, he was better in some aspects. Chiro was still a kid, but he was no longer the same one that never had experience being a hero or unpolished fighting skills. He was patient, attentive, wiser, and Antauri was able to say he was proud of him for how far he had come.
They had gotten far in terms of their bond as well. At first Chiro was distant, seemingly uncertain if he could trust Antauri or the others on the team, but now he looked up to everyone, especially Antauri. Whenever Chiro needed advice or guidance on something, he always went to Antuari first. It took Antauri by surprise at first, however he helped him out without hesitation, and it was like that all the other times as well.
The silver monkey was proud to say that Chiro was his son. They didn't share even a shred of DNA, but that didn't matter to Antauri. He would always be there for him and he would protect Chiro with his life. Even if Chiro didn't say it, it was clear he thought of him as a father which made the familial feeling mutual.
All he wanted was to see him be happy. They all did, since he was practically their kid too, even if it was a tad more complicated than that.
Any parent would want their kid to be happy and become a better person.
