PROLOGUE

50 AC

Uzumaki Misaki was not pleased.

Her adorable little sister had gone into her room in tears after a conversation with their parents and she needed to know what it was about. She knocked on Kushina's door but only received an angry "Go away!" in response, so she decided to confront the culprits involved - their parents.

"Why has Kushina locked herself up in her room in tears?" she demanded from the rulers of Uzu Island. Her father took it upon himself to reply "Misaki, you know of our treaty to Konoha. Mito-sama will not live forever, and as Kushina has demonstrated excellent skill in the use of the Adamantine Chains, I have to send her to Konohagakure to be their next Jinchuuriki."

"Really? You're going to send away a Princess of this island, your own daughter just so our allies far off in Fire Country can have a weapon? Have you lost your senses in your old age?" Misaki exclaimed. "Misaki! That is not how you speak to your father!" Her mother Harumi interjected.

"Harumi, let her. I understand that you are upset on your sister's behalf but you must realize that we, as the ruling family of Uzu, have a duty to our people first and our loved ones second. Kushina has been progressing well in both her studies and combat, I am sure that she will make an excellent kunoichi." Uzumaki Masahiro, the 7th ruler of Uzu, stated with a grim face.

"There is absolutely no way I will let my sister go to a military state all alone just to be weaponized, if Kushina leaves, I will go with her!" Misaki retorts.

"You are the heiress to this country, does duty mean nothing to you?" Masahiro questions. Misaki replies "I would die in the name of duty, but there is nothing more precious to me than my family, something I learnt from you. It's a shame that you yourself seem to have forgotten it."

"If you truly mean to abandon this country just so your sister has someone to kiss her troubles away, then perhaps Uzu had no heir after all. Your ship leaves at dawn tomorrow, now leave, your mother and I have to talk." Masahiro declared.

Misaki looks thunderstruck and looks to her mother for support. Finding none, she angrily wipes away her tears and leaves, slamming the door. Masahiro sits down at the rich velvet couch with a sigh and gestures to his wife to join him. He opens the bottle of imported whiskey on the table and begins pouring two glasses. Harumi picks up her glass and has a sip. "What is going on Masahiro? Why on earth would you send away our only children to Konoha? You know as well as I do that Fumiko also possesses the Adamantine Chains? Is it truly not better to send the blacksmith's daughter than to deprive the country of its precious princess?"

Uzumaki Harumi, nee Senju, knew a thing or two about doing her duty. When her father Hashirama decreed that she was to marry the heir to the Uzu throne as part of a treaty, she accepted it without complaint. A faithful wife for over fifteen years, Harumi knows her husband pretty well at this point. He spoils his daughters and would truly die before making either of them cry. So then why exactly did he make this seemingly needless decision, and somehow end up sending away two daughters instead of one?

"Haru-chan, I just received a hawk from Hiruzen that a combined force of Kumo, Iwa and Kiri forces are headed here to destroy us to cut off Konoha's support. Konoha shinobi are on their way to support us but I don't know if they can reach us in time. All that I want right now is that our children remain safe and sound, which in this war stricken time, seems to be possible only in Konoha. I'm sure that the Senju clan will protect them if no one else. I had thought of sending Kushina alone to minimize any suspicion but Misaki seems to be guided by the Gods themselves." Masahiro confesses. Harumi is silent for a few minutes but then regains her composure.

"How long do you think the seals guarding the island will last?" she asks. "Three days, four if we are lucky." "And how long will Konoha take to arrive?" "A week at least." comes the reply from a steely faced Masahiro.

"Very well, we will begin mobilization of our forces in two days, let no one say that the Uzumaki clan was massacred without a fight."

"Oh and Masahiro, I don't blame you at all."

AN: Thank you for clicking on this story despite the military grade cringe summary. I hope this short prologue is enough to gather your attention and make you interested in my story. Otherwise, I would welcome a review with constructive criticism about things I could have done better. Actually, any reviews with something other than plain hate are welcome.

Now, about the story - I've usually seen OCs pop up either in the Uchiha clan or in Naruto's body with the occasional Nara in between. I decided to try my hand at doing something with the Yamanaka clan, as my man Inoichi has always been one of my favourites in the franchise and Ino well, she's mega cute. This is gonna be a bit cliche and I may subconsciously borrow elements from other fanfics. Unfortunately, I don't think I can avoid that as my brain doesn't exactly know what's canon anymore. If you are an author whose ideas I have seemingly stolen, I apologize, it is not my intention to plagiarize anyone.

The story is gonna flow in one direction as far as time is concerned with some training flashbacks maybe. I dislike it when the time in which a chapter is set keeps yo-yoing between the past, present and future, amazingly annoying to keep track of. Hope y'all don't mind, and I most certainly hope that you will accompany me on this journey.
