I'm a little late posting this one, but still on time for Day 2 of Taiora Week

Today's theme is Sunset

The idea of Tai and Sora apartment hunting was sort of floating around in my head to be part of And Baby Makes Five but in the end I decided to leave it out. So I decided to incorporate the Sunset theme into it and use it here

Hope you enjoy! :)

Sunset View

"It was too small."

"What? Sor' it was bigger than the apartment we're in now." Tai remarked, casting a glance to his wife as he concentrated on the traffic ahead as they drove over Rainbow Bridge.

"I know, but it still felt too small to me… it just felt cramped… plus the view from the balcony wasn't all that great; looking out over a manufacturing site."

The couple had spent the morning apartment hunting in Odaiba. They had looked at four apartments in various areas of the region but none of them had really stood out for a number of reasons. Each one had its own faults whether it was the balcony view, space issues or lack of facilities within the area. It was four more failed attempts at the already long list of apartments they had looked at over the past few months.

Tai sighed as the traffic came to a slow stop for a brief moment. "This is turning out to be harder than I imagined. It wasn't this hard finding our first apartment."

Sora smiled, placing a hand on her growing bump. She was just shy of six months pregnant with their first child; hence the reason they were searching for a new apartment. Their two bedroom apartment in the Minato region had been ideal for just the two of them, even with Agumon and Biyomon, but now their family was growing they definitely needed somewhere a little bigger. "That was different. We were dating and didn't really need all that much space back then. Now we have other factors to consider. I'm sorry if I'm coming across as too picky, but I always wanted to move back to Odaiba when starting a family and I just want our apartment to be right. It's going to be the place where we raise our child for at least the next eighteen years."

"No, I get it. I know it has to be pretty much perfect. But we've been looking for a couple of months already and I just assumed we would have found something we liked by now. There's only about three months until the baby's here. It feels like we're running out of time."

Sora smirked a little at he husband's impatience. "There's still plenty of time. It won't be the end of the world if we're still in our current apartment when the baby's born. All the baby will be doing for the first few months is sleeping and eating anyway." She said light-heartedly.

Tai smiled somewhat as the traffic began to move again over the bridge. "I know. I just thought it would be great if we were moved and settled before the baby arrives, and in time for Christmas."

"Yeah, that would be ideal. But let's not rush it. Let's just keep looking and who knows, the perfect apartment might just turn up very soon."

As the traffic cleared and began to move more freely, it was only a short drive after leaving Rainbow Bridge to their apartment close to Tokyo Bay. The apartment had a great view overlooking the water, which was something Sora would miss when the time came to move, but she knew it wouldn't be the right place to raise their child. Aside from the space issue, it was situated a little far from the schools, local parks and their families. As Tai parked the car in the small parking lot outside the apartment building, his cell phone began to ring and the caller ID flashed up on the car's screen on the dashboard. It was his father.

Tai pressed the answer call button putting it on speaker phone, a little lazy to actually pick his cell phone up. "Hi Dad," he greeted.

"Hey Son," His father's voice sounded through the speaker. "Have you and Sora found an apartment yet?"

Tai glanced at his wife, a little confused as to why his father was calling to ask him that a little out of the blue. "Uh, no not yet. We've just looked at four this morning but none of them were quite right… why?"

"There's an apartment just gone up for sale in the building opposite us. The building superintendent is a close friend of mine and I mentioned you two were searching for a new apartment. He said you can come and take a look at it if you want. He's pretty busy all day but he said he can give me the key so I can let you in."

Tai slouched back in his seat, letting his head fall back on the headrest. "Dad, we've just literally got back from Odaiba. We've spent all morning looking at apartments; I think we're all hunted out for today."

Sora smiled to herself. It had been an early start for them, and Tai hadn't been too pleased being woken up so early, especially on his day off from work.

"I didn't mean right this second," Susumu shot back, causing Sora to smirk a little more at her husband's irritated expression at his father. "If you want you can come over this evening. From what you told me about some of the apartments you've looked at already it sounds like you've not had much luck. These apartments are pretty spacious… and your mother and I are a stone's throw away for babysitting duties."

"Now I know that's Mom's suggestion …" Tai then turned to Sora. "Well, what do you think?"

"I guess there's no harm in checking it out. It can't be much worse than some of the others we've already looked at."

"Okay then Dad," Tai said. "I guess we'll see you later."

The sun had just started to set when they arrived back in Odaiba. What had started as a cloudy day had now turned into a clear and bright evening, which only complimented the setting sun more; allowing the vast array of soft colours to stretch as far as possible across the sky.

Sora had spent the short car journey gazing out of the window as they drove over Rainbow Bridge, taking in the beauty of the evening whilst she could. She had fallen in love with the sunset whilst on their honeymoon in Hawaii. They had stayed in a luxurious hotel that over looked the beach and ocean where the sun would go down right in front of them every evening. Each dusk they spent out by the infinity pool cuddled together on one of the sun lounges watching the sun go down. It had been perfect just to lay there and enjoy the quietness and the sky's ever changing colours as the night set in. Now whenever Sora saw a sunset it always took her back to those relaxing evenings in Hawaii.

Seeing Tokyo bathed in a glorious sunset, she was so tempted to tell her husband to take her to the beach instead so they could just sit and watch the sun go down just like they did on their honeymoon… but Susumu would already be waiting for them in the lobby. Growing up in the bustling city they hadn't really appreciated the sunsets before. Due to the tall buildings across the city taking over most of the skyline it was sometimes difficult to find the perfect spot to enjoy the twilight at its best. Sora had also grown up in an apartment facing the sunrise, and even then she would miss most of the days dawning due to sleeping through them.

After meeting with Tai's father in the lobby, he led them up to the eleventh floor where the vacant apartment was situated. Upon entering the apartment, the first thing Sora noticed was the familiar colours of the sunset she had been gazing at before flooding in to the open plan living and dining area. The room was covered in soft orange tones, and despite the room being completely empty of furniture as the previous owners had already moved out, it still gave off a warm and cosy feel. As Tai went to check out the kitchen first, Sora headed immediately for the balcony. There, as expected, was the sun slowly setting in the distance, reflecting on the still water of Tokyo Bay. It was a stunning view; one that would overshadow the view from their current apartment.

Sora found herself getting lost in her imagination as she continued to gaze out at the view; already picturing herself and Tai sat out on the balcony cuddled up to each other just like on their honeymoon… or even sitting out feeding their newborn baby… She was so lost in her thoughts and the sunset she hadn't realised Tai's father had been detailing the apartment to them.

"-And it's got four bedrooms," Susumu concluded. "So there's plenty of space if you two decide to have another baby."

After checking out its size, Tai closed the fridge-freezer door a little abruptly. "Dad, our first baby isn't even born yet. What makes you think we're already planning for number two?"

Susumu chuckled. "It was just a suggestion. I'm just trying to give you all the pros on this place."

"You know, I think you missed your calling. You should have been in real estate." Tai said somewhat sarcastically, causing his father to chuckle.

Tearing herself away from the balcony, Sora walked across the empty living room, gently rubbing her stomach. "It may feel like I already have two kids anyway once this little one arrives." She teased, causing her father in law to laugh some more and her husband to frown.

"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?" Tai protested.

His wife simply smiled, and leant up on her tip-toes giving him a quick kiss on the lips choosing to ignore his question. "C'mere, come and see the best bit." She said softly, taking his hand before leading him back across the room towards the balcony.

"Best bit? Didn't you hear what my father said?" Tai asked, wondering why he was being led towards the balcony when, according to his own opinion, the best feature of the apartment was in the opposite direction. "The master bedroom has its own bathroom. I wouldn't have to fight Agumon each morning just to take a shower-" he stopped short as Sora led him outside onto the balcony. "Wow…" Despite already noticing the apartment full of the colours of the sunset, he had been pleasantly surprised at the view that greeted him, especially after most of the views from previous apartments they had looked at had been rather disappointing.

"It's beautiful isn't it… doesn't it remind you of our honeymoon?" Sora smiled, resting her head on his shoulder whilst still holding his hand.

"Uh it's a far cry from Hawaii Sor'. We're not by the beach, there's not a palm tree in sight and there's no pool." Tai joked, causing Sora to give him a look. "I'm joking, joking!" he quickly reassured her. "I know you mean the sunset."

"I think this might be the one…"

"Huh? You certain on that already? We haven't even looked at the rest of the apartment yet."

"I know but from what I've seen already I think this is pretty much perfect." Sora smiled. "It'll be hard to find another apartment with a better view than this… just imagine; we can enjoy this all year round. Not whilst we're on a two week vacation... and this place does have that second bathroom you have been desperate for."

"That is true… The sunset might have won you over, but it's definitely that second bathroom that's sold it for me." Tai humoured, flashing a grin.

Sora rolled her eyes somewhat and smiled, looking up at her husband. "You know… they say sunsets also set a romantic tone…" she said softly, teasing a little as she leaned in for another kiss.

Tai grinned, kissing her softly. "Well we'll have to make sure we take full advantage of that then," he commented before kissing her again, this time a little longer as the sun slowly began to disappear in the horizon behind them.
