Laura swung her legs back in forth as she watched the time pass on the big clock in the main office at school. She was waiting to be picked up and the time seemed to be passing very slowly. Not that she was in a hurry. She knew once they got here, she was probably going to be in trouble.

"Laura," She sighed, not looking up yet. "Your brother is here,"

"Hey," Robby said. "Let's go,"

Laura looked up and tried to stop the smile from forming when she saw her older brother. She slid off the chair, put on her backpack and followed her brother outside. She tried not to look so eager until they got out the building.

"You are so lucky, I picked up the phone," Robby remarked as Laura got into the backseat. "If Carmen or dad would have picked up…"

"Daddy wouldn't have been mad," Laura replied. "Unless mommy was there, then he would have seemed really mad,"

Robby sighed, knowing that she probably wasn't too far off. "You want to tell me why you got into a fight today?" They had told him what happened, but he was interested in her side of it.

"Cecelia was being mean to the new girl in my class, was calling her names and even threw stuff at her," She explained. "So I told her she was a pathetic loser,"

Robby sighed. I wonder where she got that from…

"She told me to take it back, but I wouldn't," Laura continued. "She told me she was gonna make me sorry, so I pinned her to the ground and told her she needed to say she was sorry,"

"And did she?" Robby looked back at Laura in the rearview mirror of the car.

"Yes!" Laura smiled.

Robby tried hard to resist, but ended up smiling a little. "Well, I guess she'll think twice next time,"

"You think daddy will be proud?"

Probably… "I don't know…" Robby said as he started driving. "You did get suspended,"

"Mommy and daddy don't know," Laura pointed out. "Since you picked up the phone,"

"You're going to have to tell them,"

Laura shook her head. "I could just tell them tomorrow is a day off," She knew it wouldn't be that hard to convince her daddy. He always got the days confused. "It's only a one day suspension,"

"You're going to need to tell them, Laur," Robby knew they had to know. Even if he wanted to keep the secret, he knew they would eventually find out somehow. And then he would be the one that was also in trouble if they found he didn't tell them. "Or I will,"

"Do we have to tell them today?" Laura asked. "Pleeeaaase Robby, please not today…" She gave Robby a pleading look.

"You know it's not fair when you do that!" Robby groaned. Something about that face she gave, it worked on him pretty much every time she wanted something. "Fine! Okay! But you better tell them first thing tomorrow, or I will,"

Laura smiled happily. "You're the best big brother!"

"Be sure to say that once Miguel's around," Robby smirked.

"You know, this wouldn't have happened if mommy hadn't made me go to school today," Laura added. "So, maybe it's really her fault…"

"Good luck with that one," Robby said. He could already see how Carmen would react to that.

"Where are we going?" Laura asked as Robby took a turn down a different street.

"Well, I was planning to take you after school to get your present, and since you are done school for the day…" Robby pulled into the parking lot for where they were going and turned to face his sister. "I figured why not go now?"

"What is it?!" Laura looked around between all the different shops.

"You'll see…"

"Just tell me!" Laura got out.

"Just start walking," Robby put his hands over her eyes and started guiding her into the right shop. "I do have a question for you," He knew that might give her a hint before showing her. "What is the one thing you've always wanted for your birthday?"

"A puppy?" Laura shrugged, taking a guess.

Robby took his hands off her eyes and her eyes went big when she saw that they were in a pet store. "Wait…" Laura couldn't believe this. "Really?"

"Happy birthday," Robby smiled as his sister threw her arms around him.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"Well, don't thank me yet," Robby said. "You haven't found one yet," He knew that his dad and Carmen might kill him for this. But it was worth it. He was pretty sure he hadn't ever seen her this excited before.

"Well, let's go see the puppies!" Laura started pulling Robby by the arm.

"Okay, okay!" Robby chuckled, allowing his sister to pull him towards the puppies.

"They are all so cute!" Laura exclaimed as she watched all the puppies run around.

"I think that one likes you," Robby noticed a smaller black and white curly haired dog go over to where he and Laura were standing and wagged its tail.

Laura put her hand out slowly to the dog and it licked her hand and then jumped up. "I pick this one!"

"I think he picked you first,"

"What's his name?" Laura asked.

"Otis,"

"That's perfect," Laura thought that was the perfect name for him.

As they went to check out and adopt the puppy, Robby got a text on his phone. He quickly pocketed and then turned to Laura once they finished up at the pet shop.

"What now?" Laura asked as she walked out, carrying Otis in her arms.

"Well, I may or may not have another surprise for you,"

"What is it?" Laura asked.

"Well, if I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise," Robby pointed out as he put some of the other things he bought for the dog in the car. "But why don't we go find out?"

"Can't you give me a hint?" Laura asked once they got to the house. She knew now that there had to be some kind of surprise.

"There's no point," Robby replied. "You're about to find out,"

"You guys are back," Laura turned around to see her other brother.

"Miggy!" Laura ran over and gave her other big brother a hug. "You're here!"

"And miss my sister's party?" Miguel shook his head. "No way!"

"Party?"

Miguel blanched and then looked to Robby. "I guess I ruined the surprise…"

"Yeah…" Robby shook his head. "Just try and act surprised, alright?" Or else Carmen and Johnny would have both of their heads. "Ready to head inside?"

Laura nodded and then ran up to the door, but waited for her brothers to follow. They opened the door and she saw the apartment full of people and balloons. Laura smiled widely and gasped to appear surprised.

"Happy birthday sweetheart," Johnny came over.

"Daddy!" Laura exclaimed. "Look what Robby got me!" She showed off the puppy in her arms.

"I see," He knew Carmen was going to love that. "Just try to keep him out of the kitchen, your mother is finishing off the cake,"

"I want cake!" Laura exclaimed.

"Not now," Johnny laughed. "But you might be able to find something in there," Johnny motioned to the living room where they had out plates with snacks. "I'll be in there in a second, okay?"

"Okay!" Laura ran off into the other room and Johnny turned to the boys.

"So, how was pickup?" Johnny asked Robby.

"Fine," Robby answered.

"So, what did she do?" Johnny asked.

Robby blinked. He had tried to time it that they wouldn't come home until after Laura would have normally gotten out of school. That way they wouldn't realize that Laura had to leave school early. "How did you…"

"I heard you pick up the phone," Johnny explained.

"And you listened?"

Johnny nodded. "So, what did she do?"

"There might have been a fight…" Robby sighed.

"Not this shit again…" Johnny shook his head. "What happened exactly?"

"Well, she taught a kid a lesson," Robby knew that was one way to put it. He explained the story from how Laura told it.

"That's my girl," Johnny smiled slightly, then looking around to make sure Carmen wasn't around. "But let's just keep this between us for now,"

"So, you're not telling Carmen?"

Johnny shook his head. "Not today," He didn't want to spoil her mood or ruin Laura's day. He would have to find the best way to explain it so she wouldn't lose it.

"I mean if you think about it, that's a better fight than the ones Robby and I would get into," Miguel chimed in putting an arm around his stepbrother.

"Don't you dare give her any ideas," Johnny warned. "Carmen would kill me," That was the last thing he needed, especially at this age.

"She is a Lawrence," Robby pointed out.

"And a Diaz," Miguel added.

"What the hell did I get myself into with this one?" Johnny looked over and smiled as he saw his daughter was looking at her table of presents and smiling as a party hat was placed on her head by Samantha LaRusso. He wouldn't want it any other way, despite the headaches he was already getting from her shenanigans.

"We should probably go join her," Miguel suggested. "Before mama brings the cake out,"

Johnny nodded. That was probably a good idea. He put an arm around each boy as they headed in there and he looked to Robby. "And I'll let Carmen know you got her the dog,"

"Throwing me under the bus?" Robby asked. He had seen that one coming.

"You got it for her," Johnny pointed out.

"You try saying 'no' to her!" Robby replied. He had tried, but he just couldn't do it. She always just gave him that look and he would give in to pretty much anything she wanted.

"You just can't," Miguel shook his head, knowing just how well it worked.

"Who knew the easiest way to beat you two would be with a six year old," Johnny laughed.

"Too bad she wasn't here when we hated each other," Robby said.

Miguel shook his head. "She would have told us off and made us stop," Miguel and Robby both turned to Johnny as they walked over with Laura ran over to them. "Definitely your kid,"

"That she is," Johnny picked her up. "Is my princess ready for a bad ass birthday?"

"Yay!" Laura cheered and leaned over to her father's ear and whispered, "And I won't tell mommy you said a bad word,"

"You're definitely your mother's kid too,"

Carmen brought out the cake with the candles already lit. She knew that her daughter wouldn't want to wait to dig into it. "Happy birthday mija!"

"Make a wish, sweetheart,"

"And make it a good one," Robby added.

Laura shut her eyes and thought for only a moment before blowing out the candles.

"What did you wish for?" Miguel asked.

"She can't tell you that, kid," Johnny remarked.

"I can show you," Laura took a handful of cake and put it on Johnny's face. The boys started laughing and then Laura threw some on their faces. Laura licked the cake off her fingers and giggled. "Now this is the best birthday ever,"

"Laura Rosa!" Carmen groaned. "What were you thinking?"

"It was funny," Laura laughed and gave her father the look. "Right daddy?"

"Oh, you're definitely my girl," Johnny took some of the cake off his face and put it on her nose.

A/N: I've been wanting to write some Cobra Kai since Season 5 premiered but work and school and getting Covid a third time kind of throws the damper in that. That plus going away for a week is why this little story was finished so late. This was written as a little birthday gift to Tif S. I hope you enjoyed it even with it being almost two weeks late. Anyways, I am hoping Carmen and Johnny end up having a daughter and I feel like it would be perfect if they named after Johnny's late mother. She definitely would know how to work all the boys in the family. Laura is portrayed by Belle Swarc and hopefully, I'll get out some more Cobra Kai stories soon.

Please don't forget to review.
