Now That Is A Look! (Extended):
Disclaimer: I do not own "The Owl House" or any of its characters. They belong to Dana Terrace and, unfortunately, Disney (Ugh). Mild spoilers for "Thanks To Them" in the first 18 minutes, so if you haven't seen it yet; watch it and then read this fic for later. And to those who have never seen "The Owl House", watch the entire first two seasons and let me know what you think. But for those who did see "Thanks To Them", enjoy.
At the old shed in the Human Realm, which has since been remodeled to look exactly like the Owl House; Amity explains to Gus, Willow, and Vee about the plan on how they can decode a puzzle that they and Flapjack, a Palisman resembling a red cardinal with a scar covering his left eye, found underneath the floorboard; which may be plans for constructing a new portal door back to the Boiling Isles.
"Alright, Luz is at her mom's vet clinic puting tiny little bandages on… "hedgehogs". So today, we're going into town to solve this code." Amity explains the plan while making air quotes at the word 'hedgehog', unfamiliar with the word of the Earth animal itself.
"Ears." Gus uses his Illusion Magic to lower his green beanie and cover his ears.
"Routes." Vee pulls out a map of the town of Gravesfield, Connecticut.
"Snacks, check." Willow turns around to reveal her bag, full of human snacks in case anyone gets hungry.
"Human disguise, check."
Willow, Amity, Gus, and Vee, alongside their Palismen; Ghost, a white cat, Clover, a large bee, and Emmiline, a blue chameleon, all turned to see Hunter stepping out of the darkened hallway with Flapjack (the latter looking at his owner) in a sci-fi looking outfit. It was stitched yellow and black, with a pin of Saturn on the shirt, a utility belt, and a fake, cybernetic eye covering his real one.
"Eh?" Hunter wants everyone's honest opinion on his outfit.
A confounded Amity and Vee just look at him, both confused at his look. The youngest Blight and the basilisk look at Hunter, weirdly, as they both try to figure out what he is wearing and how they should answer his question. Amity takes a deep breath, covering her mouth with both her hands, as Vee just looks at him, flabbergasted at his look.
'Uh… what the heck is wearing?' Amity and Vee thought, slightly cringing at Hunter's look.
Gus obviously geeks out because Hunter's outfit is from that sci-fi series the former found in the basement of Luz's home; Cosmic Frontiers.
'He really got into those books.' Gus thought, smiling like any fan would.
Willow looks at her friend/secret crush, and she was impressed to see that Hunter was finally stepping out of his shell.
'OMG! He looks so cute!' Willow thought, as a small blush appeared on her face.
"Oh, wow. Now that is a look!" Willow says as she takes a picture of Hunter's outfit with a camera that Luz's mother, Camilia, lent her; with Hunter slightly blushing at the compliment as he rubs the back of his neck.
While Hunter, Gus, and Vee talk about Cosmic Frontier, Willow just looks at the former with a dreamy look with a loving grin on her face as she looks back to the last few months.
Ever since the week that Adrian Graye and the Emperor's Coven arrived at Hexside (mostly after the Hexside Students defeated them with their respective magic and Hunter told everyone the truth of the Day of Unit), Hunter grew closer with not just Gus, but with Amity, and mostly Willow.
And when they were sent to the Human Realm, alongside Luz, Amity, and Gus; Hunter had to be the big brother of the group and keep them together, while facing his secrets and personal demons. Willow even helped Hunter with his haircut, with the former liking his new hairstyle and the latter appreciating his praise of his new hairstyle.
While Hunter and Gus shared a brother-like friendship, he and Luz shared a sibling relationship, and him and Amity shared a love-hate relationship, he mostly shared a special connection with Willow; sometimes they were good friends, while other times, they would cross the line of friendship to something more. Flirtations and smiles were exchanged, hands were held, and hugs were shared; kindred spirits.
Willow was taken out of her daydreaming when Amity spoke to Hunter, finally finding the words for her… honest opinion about his outfit.
"Hunter, I don't think the world is ready for the brave fashion choices of the year 2008. Please change." Amity honestly stated.
Shocked at Amity's statement, Willow ran to her and quickly covered her mouth.
"Don't listen to her!" Willow pleaded, not wanting her crush to listen to the youngest Blight. As for Amity, she gave Willow an unamused look.
"Aw, geez, we're gonna miss the bus." Vee looked at the bus route map and saw they were all going to be late for the bus.
Oh, it's okay. I'll catch up. There's a transport worm every half hour." Hunter reassured the gang.
As Amity, Vee, and Gus leave their makeshift Owl House, Amity stops to notice that Willow wasn't following the group.
"Willow, are you coming?" Amity asks her friend, wondering why she wasn't coming.
"Yeah, you three go, I just want to talk with Hunter for a moment." Willow says, with Hunter looking up at Willow.
"Oh, okay." Amity then closed the door and Willow stayed behind to talk with Hunter, but the two teens looked away from each other, blushing, as they tried to figure out what to say to the other. Eventually, Hunter found the words.
"Y-You really like this look, Captain?" Hunter asked Willow, both stuttering and blushing.
"Y-Yeah… but I don't like it, I love it!" Willow answered shyly, as she tucked a strand of her hair back.
The two then looked at each other's eyes and smiled, blushing, as they got closer to each other's faces, as they looked at each other's lips. They almost interlocked them, until…
"Willow! We gotta go now!"
The shout was so loud it made Willow and Hunter jump and blush madly, looking away from each other once again. So much for that moment.
"Alright, alright! Yeesh!" Willow, still blushing, exclaimed to the trio outside.
But before Willow left the shed, she stopped in her tracks. Hunter saw this and before he knew it, Willow turned back to the former, walked towards, and hugged him tightly. Hunter felt his ears burning but hugged her back.
"Be careful, Hunter." Willow mumbled against her shoulder.
"Always, Captain." Hunter said, as the two lovers pulled back from the hug.
Then Willow did the absolute unexpected; she kissed Hunter on the cheek, as his eyes widened and face went as red as Flapjack's appearance. Willow stepped back with a blush on her face as she took Clover with her, now ready to leave the shed with her friends.
"I'm gonna borrow that book when you're done with it." Willow flirtatiously said as she winked at Hunter, who now placed his hand where Willow kissed him and was still blushing from the kiss. She then left the shed, leaving Hunter lovestruck.
Flapjack chirped at his owner, asking him if he was okay.
Hunter muttered lovestruck gibberish until he fainted on the floorboard, making Flapjack fly above his owner and shake his head, amused at the situation.
Willow stepped out of the shed, closing the door to find Amity, Gus, Vee, and their Palismen smiling teasingly at her, making her realize that she's been caught.
"What?" Willow asked, playing dumb.
"Ohh, Willow's got a boyfriend." The trio sang, making Willow blush excessively.
"Shut up." Willow mumbled, as the four friends made their way to the bus stop.
If Luz gets word about this, then the entire gang is not gonna let Willow or Hunter live this down.
