I am jogging through the forest Enzo needs to meet Damon at the Grill later today. I have to stop at a local shop to get some seeds for my garden. I like to grow my own ingredients for potions and elixir's I hope to get those in the ground today. I will be a busy day today. I head back in the house.
"Welcome back, Siv," I hear Enzo call from the kitchen.
"I'm going to take a share then I will have breakfast," I inform him heading upstairs to the shower. I quickly take my shower then head downstairs. I see three fried eggs and syrup waiting for my on the table. Those boys spoil me a bit too much. We head out to the grill.
"We were invited to the founder's ball in a couple of nights," Godric tells me.
"Good it will help us get in with the locals," Enzo says.
"I guess I need to get a dress for it." I sign. Seems like a tomorrow problem, not a today issue. We arrive at the grill. We all sit at a booth. Damon joins us a few minutes later.
"Do you guys ever leave each others sight?" Damon asks.
"Yeah, sometimes," Godric says.
"So, what do you want to know Damon?" Enzo asks. "But I want to ask questions in return."
"Okay, how did you get out?" Damon asks.
"Have you ever heard of Kol's bloodline?" Enzo asks him.
"No, should I have?" Damon replies.
"No, Kol is one of the original bloodlines that started vampires. He is old in other words. His line keeps track of each other. They make sure all our IDs are up to date, that we don't get out of line, ect." Enzo explains. "I hadn't renewed my ID. So, they were looking for me, Witches had us cloaked so we couldn't be tracked. The fire caused the cloaking to drop, and Kol's bloodline got me out after you left."
"Why didn't you come find me?" Damon asks.
"My turn." Enzo tells him, "How could you just leave me there?"
"It wasn't easy. I had to shut off my emotions to leave. You are my best friend. I had thought you died," Damon says.
"No, they took me to a new facility to do more experiments on me. Siv saved me. She may have not actually been there, but it was because of her I was saved," Enzo says getting emotional.
"I keep our plan," Damon says quietly. Enzo looking curiously. Just then Caroline sits down. She's perky as ever. She's wearing a scarf though. I look disgusted. "I kill all but one of the Augustine family. The promise that we made one another." Damon looks defeated with that.
"Are you treating this girl like a juice box?" Enzo asks looking disgusted.
"Yeah, I gotta keep my bad boy image," Damon says shrugging.
"You better no be sleeping with her," Enzo says with a growl.
"And if I am," Damon challenges.
"Then your raping her Damon. That isn't right. She is also just a kid," Enzo tells him.
"So, what do you suppose I do to keep my bad boy image?" He asks.
"Well, you can bring her over to my place and pretend you are still sleeping with her. Stop feeding on her, but have her keep wearing the scarf, pretending she is covering something up." I suggest.
Caroline is acting like we aren't even here. It's very odd. She is definitely compelled. It breaks my heart that someone so young is involved. But there isn't much I can do sadly. I'm doing everything I can to keep her safe. I also don't want to make an enemy out of the Salvatore brothers just yet. Their loyalty to each other is a strong bond. It can be useful in the future. Also, getting on the bade side of one of the founding families might not be the smartest idea. That might send the founding counsel on a witch hunt, no pun intended. From what I understand they have already done that as well. Enzo wraps up the meeting and Damon asks if we can take Caroline back with us. We all head back to the house.
"So, Caroline, would you like to stay at the house or come with me to run some errands?" I ask her.
"I'll come with you in that's okay," she says timidly.
"I wouldn't have offered if it wasn't." I say. "Come." I take her hand and we teleport to the shop I need.
"Holy, what was that? Where are we?" Caroline questions.
"That was teleportation. We are at a shop for me to get some seeds for my garden," I explain.
"We could have just gone to the grocery store for that." Caroline says.
I chuckle. "Not for these kinds of seeds." We walk into the shop and the bell overhead goes off.
"Hello Siv," the girl behind the counter greets.
"Hello Macy, how are your studies coming along?" I ask her.
"They are going well. Just having trouble with emotional outbursts, got any ideas?" She asks, while I'm browsing the seeds, picking out the ones I need. Caroline walked away from the front desk behind some shelves.
"Try meditating daily or exercise. That should help," I suggest. We hear a squeal and look up quickly. I really hope Caroline didn't touch anything she shouldn't have.
"Oh my god, a puppy!" She screams out.
I look at Macy in question and relief.
"Yeah, a trader came in and traded a little pure white puppy. We have no idea what to do with him. He doesn't seem very old." Macy says.
"You can sell him to me. I'm willing to take him. The boys will enjoy having a magical puppy around." I say.
"Really? You would?" Macy asks in excitement. "My mom will be so happy."
"We have room for him in our house, that's for sure. Caroline, why don't you bring him up to the front here." I tell Caroline. She comes up with this adorable puppy with bright blue eyes "He's beautiful." I say in awe of him.
I pay for everything. Caroline and I leave the shop. Caroline is still holding the puppy.
"What's next?" Caroline asks.
"We will have to find this little guy some supplies and food." I say as we walk around looking for a pet store.
"What were you thinking of naming him?" She asks
"I was thinking Kal-EL, after superman. What do you think?" I ask.
"I love that name. Superman is hot." She says excitedly. I laugh.
"I thought it would be a good choice. We will have to see what he holds magically later." I say.
"Magical?" She questions.
"Yes, he is a magical puppy, but I don't know what he will hold. Some can see a few minutes into the future. Some have advance intuition." I explain.
"Can some fly?" She asks with wide eyes.
"Oh god no. that's only in moves. But generally, they have a longer life span than normal dogs. They can sometimes be able to walk through fire, which I think is cool." I tell her.
"How do you find that out?" Caroline asks horrified.
"Not willingly, that's for sure. I have only found it out by horrible incidents." I say.
"How do you know all this stuff?" Caroline asks.
"I'm an immortal witch." I say to her. I know she is compelled to not tell my secrets to anyone who doesn't already know.
"Not you too. Bonnie was saying her grams is telling her she is a witch." Caroline whines.
"That's Bonnie secret to tell. What I can tell you is I am the only immortal witch walking the earth right now." I tell her. "You also saw my magic."
"That's right the teleportation." Her face lights up. "What else can you do?"
"With time and practise almost anything I want. Sky is the limit. I do have to follow some rules, but I have quite a bit of freedom being as old as I am." I say smiling at her.
I do miss the happiness and the bright eyes of the village kids when watching the witches and warlocks perform magic.
"That's so exciting." She says holding Kal-EL tightly.
"It can be a lot of responsibility," I say. "You must maintain the balance of the world. If it tips one way too far and things start becoming a mess."
"I guess I can see that." She says,
We finally find a pet store with a café beside it. We walk in and grab out a nice baby blue collar and leash. We immediately clip it on him, so Caroline doesn't have to carry him. Caroline does want to hold the leash though. She seems very attached to him. We grab a dog kennel, dishes, treats, toys, a couple beds to put around the house, food and some puppy pee pads. I also grab him a couple of those brain teaser toys. This will show me his intuition or if he can see the future. I pay for the items then we walk out of the shop.
"Would you like to go to this cute café?" I ask pointing to the café next door.
"Yes, that would be awesome." She says excitedly.
We walk in I walk up to the counter and turn to her.
"What would you like?" I ask
"Are you sure? I can get my own." She tells me looking shocked.
"Yeah, I have more then enough money. My husband left me a large amount of money. I only added to it. So, a coffee is nothing to me." I say with a chuckle.
She orders a fancy coffee. I get a tea. They give us a cup of whip cream for Kal-EL. We both sit down at a spot. Caroline feeds the small cup to Kal-EL while I text where we are to Enzo for him to come pick us up. She is giggling the whole time.
"He is amazing." She says.
"That he is. Dogs generally are great companions." I say with a chuckle.
"How many dogs have you had?" She asks.
"I have only had about 4, myself. I have had more cats. I had about 7 cats." I say
"What happened to them all?" She asks.
"Some passed away, others I gave away to vampires, werewolves, witches, or warlocks who needed a companion more then I did. She the animals did miss me, but they were all magical, so they understood why I gave them up." I say with a smile.
"So, your like the fairy godmother of the supernatural?" She asks.
"Kinda…. I guess. I just like to help out the supernatural. We can be at a disadvantage especially when someone is born or turned into what they are and have no knowledge of what that is before hand." I say thinking of when Kol was turned into a vampire.
"I can understand that. I couldn't imagine what it would feel like finding out I'm a supernatural, especially now." Caroline says.
"What's going on now, that would make it so bad?" I ask.
"It's just the Elena get's all the guys without even trying. I try to be what they want, but I never am." She says with a sigh.
"I can understand that. As a little girl I felt the same way. I never did try to be something I wasn't though. I eventually met my husband and married him. He then fell in love with me. It's important to be yourself. If the boys miss how amazing you are, that's there loss. But one day there will be a man, not a boy, who treats you like a queen and you in turn will treat him like a king." I tell her.
"You really think so?" She asks uncertainly.
"I don't think so, I know so." I say.
She smiles at me. "So, why tea?" She asks.
"It's healthier for you then coffee. I prefer to have healthier option." I say.
"That makes sense. I should start thinking about that." She says. "Are we teleporting back?"
"No, I texted Enzo to come get us. I didn't want to teleport with this much stuff, you, and a puppy. I didn't know if I could." I tell her.
"There are limits?" She asks shocked.
"Yes, every magical creature has their own limits. When training they can push the limits, but when you are preforming in real life situations you need to know your limits." I say as I look outside and see Enzo's car pulling up. I stand up.
"He here?" She asks
"Yes, over there." I point to the car. We grab our shopping and I leave a one-thousand-dollar tip. We leave and get in the car.
"When did we get a puppy?" Enzo asks confused.
"Now." I say.
"Okay…" He says very drawn out. "Does puppy have a name?"
"Kal-EL." Caroline says while holding him in her lap. I sit in the passenger seat.
We drive back to the house and head inside. Enzo decides to go for a walk.
"We're back!" I yell out.
"My ears are ringing." Godric says walking into the living room, shaking his head. "Who's this?" He asks looking at our new addition to the family. Caroline is on the floor with him playing.
"That's Kal-EL. He had been traded away as the Lightman's shop, so I bought him. I thought he would be a great fit to our family." I explain.
"Alright, welcome to the family, Kal-EL." Godric says.
He sits on the floor and Kal-EL cautiously approaches him. Godric starts to pet him and before we know it, he is living it up in Godric's lap.
"Where's Enzo?" Godric asks.
"He said he is going for a walk. I imagine he is trying to get a feel for the town." I reply.
"So, he's people watching and listening." Godric says.
"Yes, he is. Hopefully he isn't out too long this time." I say as I roll my eyes.
"What happened last time?" Caroline asks. We are all now sitting on the floor in a circle.
"He was out for 48 hours. A couple was cheating on each other with the same person. He wanted to see what would happen." I explain to her.
"So, what did happen?" She asks curiously.
"Well, they broke up and the woman burned down the house." I say nonchalantly.
"Really?" She asks shocked.
"No," I laugh. "They became a thruple."
"That's pretty cool." She says laughing.
"Yeah, I thought it was a pretty good ending," I reply.
"I didn't," Godric adds pouting. He is still cuddling Kal-EL looking every bit of the 14 years old his physical age is.
"No one asked you Godric." I snark sarcastically at him, he pouts.
"Fine, Kal-EL and I will go elsewhere, where we are more wanted." He says speeding off taking Kal-EL with him. Caroline looks at me with wide eyes.
"Yeah, he can be that way sometimes. He was young when he was changed." I say.
"Like how young?" She asks.
"14 years old, I believe. We didn't really celebrate birthdays back then." I say. "Come, I need to plant these seeds, then we can have lunch, paint our nails and gossip."
"Really? You'll do that with me?" She asks.
"Yeah, why not?" I say shrugging as we both head out to my yard. "The boys turned the soil for us earlier." She looks at me confused. "Never mind." I say starting to dig holes.
She puts a few seeds in each hole and then covers them. I go back and water them after. We get it all done with a nice amount of speed. Before we both know it it's all done. We head back inside.
"So, what would you like to eat?" I ask her.
"Um, could we have something from your travels?" She asks uncertain. She sits on the barstool on the other side of the island from the kitchen.
"I can definitely do that." I say.
I decide to make Gyro's. Godric comes back down. Kal-EL trots behind him happily. He fills the dog dishes that Caroline put out. Kal-EL runs to drink his water, trying to drink it as fast as he can. He clips Kal-EL's leash and leaves out the door.
"That was odd." Caroline says.
I chuckle. "Not really," I say, "He's a big animal lover, we had a horse back in the day. Godric adored him. He just connects with animals. I plate our gyros and slide one of the plates to her. She takes a bite.
"This is amazing." Caroline says.
"Thank you. It's a Gyro. I tried it in Greece when we were in Athens." I explain.
"Wow, think I might go one day?" She asks.
"Who knows. You can do what ever you desire." I say.
We finish up eating and I put our plates in the sink and we both move to the couch. I bring my nail polish and pull my base and topcoat out. I pull out some colours for her to pick one from. I lift her feet onto my lap. I start to put the base coat on.
"I want to find a man and marry, have kids and the white picket fence. But like I said earlier Elena gets all the attention." Caroline rants. "I think I like this pink." She hands me a bottle of hot pink nail polish. I start to paint the colour on.
"Elena, the brown haired girl right?" I ask.
"Yeah, her." She replies.
"Well, she is a doppelganger. All her other doppelgangers were like that, but their personalities turn become horrible." I say.
"Doppelganger?" Caroline asks.
"She was created to break a curse. It's made to maintain balance. They will all look like the original." I explain.
"Really? How many have you known?" Caroline asks.
"Elena is my third. I didn't get along with the other two. My husband only met one. He hated her as well." I say.
"That's crazy," she says in awe.
"You just need to ignore her. Learn to say no to her as well. Just because you say no to her doesn't mean you are a bad friend or a bad person. Their selfishness usually leads the ones around them to die or get hurt. They have a tendency to not think about how their actions might affect someone else. Don't fall for that trap." I warn her.
"I'll try not to. Thank you." She says.
I look up from her feet then back down to continue painting them. I start adding designs to them.
"It's not a problem. At least someone can learn from my mistakes." I say. "Are you going to the founders ball?"
"Yeah, I'm taking Damon," she says.
"That's cool. I'm just going with the boys. Since my husband isn't here," I tell her.
"Two things," she says. "First, can you take Bonnie with you? She's a little upset that I'm taking Damon and Elena is taking Stefan."
"Yeah, we definitely can." I say smiling. I finish up the topcoat on her toes. They have little roses on the big toes and lilies on the rest.
"Oh my god, these are amazing. How did you learn to make these?" She asks excitedly.
"Practice, I've been alive for over a thousand years. I've been doing my nails for a long time," I tell her.
"For my actual second question, what happened to your husband?" She asks.
"About eight hundred years ago, my brother-in-law daggered him. He is afraid of betrayals. He tends to overreact. His vampire side doesn't help that. He was also betrayed at the very beginning of his vampire life, so that where that originated." I say. I look down at my hands. "I miss my husband, but I know undaggering him now would get me killed." I look back up at her.
"I'm so sorry," she says hugging me.
"It's been eight hundred years. I'm used to it by now. I'm just ready to show him what I accomplished while he was gone. Show him how I looked out for his line and witches. I know he would love that." I tell her. Godric walks in with Kal-EL and comes over to give me a cuddle.
"You must miss him too, huh?" I ask Godric, knowing he heard us talking.
"Yeah, he's my maker. He saved me. I can't help but miss him, especially seeing you. The first couple of days after he turned me, he would talk about you. He would say stuff with so much love. I knew I had to control to meet you sooner. So, I did." Godric tells us.
"How come you never told me that?" I ask. He shrugs.
"So, how old are you, Godric?" Caroline asks.
"Over nine hundred years old. I was turned right before Finn was put into a box," he says.
Caroline just looks confused. Godric ignores it and launches into a funny story about his time with Kol and I. We both continue to tell stories until Caroline has to leave.
