We head over to the Lockwood residence.
"You must be Siv. I'm Carol Lockwood," the woman greeting introduces.
"I am. Lovely to meat you Mrs. Lockwood." I say curtseying.
"Who's this young dapper gentleman?" Mrs. Lockwood's gaze shifts to Enzo.
"This is Enzo," Godric introduces Enzo.
"Well, it's lovely to meet you all. I hope you enjoy your first ball." She says.
"Thank you for inviting us to your gorgeous home. I would have hated to miss this," I compliment.
"Thank you," she says as we walk in. The boys go to get a drink. I head over to Caroline and the Sheriff.
"Really, you couldn't even change out of the badge for this?" I hear Caroline ask the Sheriff. I stop to just listen. The must be related.
"I'm working, honey. Who's the date you just tried to sneak past me?" The sheriff who I figured out is her mom asks.
"Just some guy," she dismisses.
"He's a little old for you, don't you think?" She asks.
"Oh, course otherwise you'd approve. Yeah, I doubt that" Caroline scoffs. I look over and see the doppelganger arrive with Stefan.
"Where's your dad?" Caroline's mom asks.
"Memphis," Caroline says.
"Good," her mom replies.
"With Steven," Caroline says getting the later word. I head over to her.
"Hi Caroline," I say hugging her. "How are you, today?"
"I'm good," she says smiling at me.
"Oh, where are my manners? I swear my mother didn't raise me in a barn. I'm Siv Mikaelson," I introduce getting some laughs from both Caroline and her mom. The Sheriff and I shake hands.
"I'm Sheriff, Liz Forbes," she says.
"What a demanding job. I have no idea how you have found time to raise such an amazing daughter," I flatter. I lightly push Caroline towards Damon without Liz seeing, offering her an escape. She squeezes me in gratitude and goes to join Damon.
"Thank you. I'm not sure I'm succeeding as much as you say," Liz tells me.
"Well, she has manners, brains, beauty, and has an idea of what she wants. She isn't afraid to put up boundaries to those who hurt her. That's the core recipe to a successful adult," I explain.
"I guess your right," Liz says smiling.
"Just note from an outsider looking in. I would spend a bit more time with her. She will be grown and gone before you know it. Maybe do a pizza night with movies and ice cream. Might help you connect with her," I offer. She thinks a bit for a minute.
"Thank you, I will have to try that," she says. I nod and walk away. I head upstairs to check out the antiques. I see Elena and Stefan looking at the first registry.
"Hello Elena," I say.
"Hi Siv," she replies.
"Stefan," I greet.
"Siv, don't you look beautiful," he greets.
"I could say the same about you," I compliment.
" 'The founding families in Mystic Falls welcomes you to the inaugural founder's council celebration' wow, look, it's the original guest registry. Look at all the familiar names. Sheriff William Forbes, Mayer Benjamin Lockwood. Is that Damon Salvatore? And Stefan Salvatore?" Elena reading getting the attention back on her.
"The original Salvatore brothers. Our ancestors. Tragic story, actually." Damon says walking in. All three of us turn around to face him and see Caroline in the room as well. I smile at her.
"We don't need to bore then with stories of the past." Stefan says trying to get off the topic.
"It's not boring, Stefan. I'd love to hear more about your family," Elena says encouraging Damon's antics.
"Stefan are you one of those history haters?" I ask faking shock playing along.
"No, I just think there is a time and place. This is just not it in my eyes." He replies.
"Well, I'm bored. I want to dance, and Damon won't dance with me." Caroline says. I know Caroline likes history, so she must be compelled.
"Mm-hmm," Damon agrees.
"Could I just borrow your date?" Caroline asks. Ahh, that's the angle she is going for.
"Oh, Uh…." Elena studders.
"I don't really dance," Stefan says jumping in.
Oh, sure he does. You should see him. Waltz, the jutter bug, the moon walk, he does it all." Damon says with a smile.
"You wouldn't mind, would you, Elena?" Caroline asks again.
"It's up to Stefan," Elena says.
"Well, sorry. But I'm not going to take no for an answer." Caroline says taking Stefan away to dance. Elena looks at me confused; I shrug.
"I should go find Godric and Enzo," I say.
I leave the room but stay close enough that allows me to listen.
"I want to apologize to you for being such a world-class jerk, the other night when I tried to kiss you. There's no excuse. My therapist says I'm acting out, trying to punish Stefan," Damon says.
Now the smart thing for Elena to do would be to thank him then leave. Not shoving her nose where it doesn't belong.
"For what?" Elena asks officially getting herself involved. I can bet she will say she can't get involved after precisely getting herself involved.
"It's all in the past. I don't even want to bring it up," Damon says. Yeah, right. He completely wants to bring it up. "Let's just say that the men in the Salvatore family have been cursed with sibling rivalry. And it started with the original Salvatore name was practically royalty in this town. Until the war. There was a battle here-"
"The battle of Willow Creek," Elena interrupts.
"Right," Damon says.
"I know, we talked about it in class. Confederate soldiers fired on a church with civilians inside," Elena says, like she knows everything.
"What the history books left out was the people that were killed. They weren't there by accident. They were believed to be union sympathizers." Damon says weaving a story. They were vampires I think filling in what I know to be true. "So some of the founders on the confederacy side back then wanted them rounded up and burned alive. Stefan and Damon had someone they loved very much in the church. And when they went to rescue them, they were shot. Murdered in cold blood."
"Who was in the church that they wanted to save?" Elena asks. Well, if Damon was truly human, he wouldn't know that. He wasn't there and apparently the people there died.
"A woman, I guess. Doesn't it always come down to the love of a woman?" Damon asks in return.
"Look, I'm sorry that you and Stefan have this thing between you, but I can't get in the middle of it. Damon, I just… I hope you two can work it out." Elena says, saying exactly what I predicted.
"I hope so, too," Damon says,
I walk away, heading downstairs. I see Bonnie and Enzo sitting alone at a table talking to each other. I head aver and meet up with Godric.
"Enzo and Bonnie seem to be getting along," Godric says. "Care to dance?"
"Sure," I say.
We dance the night away. We take Bonnie home and head back to the house. I look into my bowl of water in my room at Bonnie. She seems to be doing okay. I check in on Caroline. She seems okay. I get a feeling I should check on Liz Forbes. I see her standing with Mayer Lockwood, Mrs. Lockwood and Logan Fell from the TV.
"Thank you for staying so late," Mayer Lockwood says.
"Did you get the Gilbert watch?" Liz asks.
"She claims it's packed away in her parents things," Mrs. Lockwood says.
"I can get it," Logan Fell says.
"Good. We're going to need it," Liz says.
"Are you sure?" Mayer Lockwood asks.
"Five bodies all drained of blood. I'm certain," Liz says.
"They've come back," Logan Fell says.
I stop watching. I need to find out what the Gilbert watch does. The founders know about vampires as well. I will have to warn Godric and Enzo to nor get caught in the crossfire. I do hope I can keep them safe. I fall asleep thinking of plan to keep Godric and Enzo safe.
The next day, I go for my run then come back. The boys are sitting talking drinking tea. My eggs are on the table. I quickly shower, then go join them.
"The founders know about vampires." I announce. They both look at me shocked. "They are looking for something called the Gilbert device."
"Do you know what it does?" Godric asks.
"No, I don't. I was hoping one of you would have heard something." I say. They both shake their heads.
"I could ask Damon," Enzo offers.
"That sounds good. I hope he will know. Because whatever it is I have a feeling it's nothing good." I say with a shiver. I finish eating and drink my tea. "I think I will keep a closer eye on Sheriff Liz Forbes."
"Okay, I'll head right over. I'll bring Kal-EL with me as well." Enzo says. We all look over to see the pup enthusiastically eating his food.
"That sounds like a good idea. I will look at the library and local achieves. See if I find anything about this device," Godric offers.
"I guess all our days are planned," I say as we all go our separate ways. Through out the day I periodically check in on Liz seeing what she is up to. It all seems to be regular Sheriff duties. I tend to my garden and make some potions, with the ingredient's I already have, to pass the time. I check on her one last time in the evening and finally something is happening.
"Evening, Sheriff. Anything?" Logan asks.
"We went over the entire west side of the lake all the caverns by the falls were clean, no signs of habitat," Liz replies. I guess her deputies were busy all day.
"Then they're staying in town," Logan says.
"We canvased all the abandoned buildings and warehouses," Liz says.
"There has to be a private residence," Logan says.
"And that much harder to locate, if not impossible. These creatures are smart, they know how to go undetected." Liz replies.
"Well, someone who only comes out at night should eventually become obvious." Logan says, "What about the three new people in town?"
"Siv, Enzo and Godric?" Liz asks. I perk up a bit hearing our names.
"Yes, them," Logan says.
"No, they arrived at the founder's ball during the day." Liz says. "What about the watch?"
"I'm working on it," Logan says.
"I know the Gilberts. That watch is passed down to the men in the family. I'd start with Jeremy." Liz offers.
They are going to take away something that a child's dead parents gave to them. That's a new level of low. We need to make sure Jeremy gets that watch back.
"Siv?" I look up and see Enzo standing in the doorway, "I went looking for Damon all dy. I couldn't find him. Do you think you could help me?" He asks.
"Yeah," I say waving my hand over the water.
I see him locked in a stone cell. Enzo comes over and sees and growls.
"Do you think Augustine's has found him?" He asks concerned about his friend.
"No, they were in ruin when we left. It would take them a little while longer to build back up. I look into them regularly. The call also looks more like it is in the corner of a basement. A lot older then the cells they would have now. It has to be the basement of a house. It also looks a lot less medical then your cell did," I explain.
"Yeah, your right," he says taking a deep breath.
"We will find him, Enzo. If he knows how he will reach out to Caroline telepathically. I will text her telling her to let me know when that happens." I tell him.
"Thank you, Siv. I don't know what I would do without you." Enzo says.
"Chase fluffy bunnies around." I say sarcastically. We both laugh. I send Caroline that text and offer her a movie might later this week. She agrees to both. "Well, we have done everything we can today. We will have to wait for tomorrow." I tell him.
"Is this how you feel about Kol?" Enzo says.
"Sometimes. I've gotten so used to being apart that I am just used to the feeling now."
The next day about midday I get a text from Caroline saying Damon is summoning her to the Salvatore boarding house. That's odd. I text her back saying to hold tight, I will deal with it and she enjoy her sexy car wash.
I head over to the house and look around. Zach is there, but it's only too easy to avoid him. I check the bedrooms, then try the basement. I look down the hall and see the cell I saw in the water.
"Damon?" I question
"Siv, what are you doing here? I called Caroline, I thought." He says weakly.
"You did. I had her text me. Enzo was worried." I reply. "I see getting yourself into trouble is a pattern." He chuckles as well as he can.
"Can you get me out of here?" He asks.
"Oh, sorry." I say. I unlock the door and Zach comes down.
"No! No! Get out of here. Run! Run!" Zach yells. Damon goes after him, and I put a shield around him.
"Enough Damon, you aren't a heathen." I say. I lead Zach out the front door. I notice Damon didn't have his sunlight ring on. He tries to follow us, and he gets burned. "I'll send Enzo," I say.
Once we are safe and sound outside and Zach gets over his shock, he stops me.
"What are you?" Zach asks.
