OOC: As of the time this fanfiction is published, I currently learning ASL, but I may make mistakes about it along with Deafness and Deaf culture. If I get anything wrong, let me know; I'm still learning.
Anyways, I decided to make a fanfic about two of the background characters who were signing about Ian being cute and decided to write a fanfic about them. Enjoy.
It was a typical day at New Mushroomton High School. Ian was getting ready for the next class, getting his textbooks from his locker, when two girls came up to him, almost startling him with their presence.
"Oh, hi." said Ian to the girls, "Can I help you?"
One of the girls started put her hand to her forehead and moved it forward as if to say "hello" and then continued making gestures as the other girl next to her translated.
"Hi. My name is Crystal. My friend interpreting for me is Hediye."
It was at that moment that Ian realized that Crystal was Deaf. Ian didn't think it was that big a deal, but was more pleasantly surprised.
"Oh. Hi. I'm Ian." said Ian as he blushed slightly.
Crystal continued signing.
"I couldn't help but notice you whenever we come arrive at school."
"Really?" said Ian in shock, "Well, I guess I do have a presence. Plus, its hard not to notice the guy who nearly destroyed the school... Which to be fair, I did restore."
Hediye interpreted Ian's comments to Crystal and she couldn't help but chuckle a bit before signing again.
"Anyways, I was wondering if you'd like to hang out with us some time."
"Wait, you mean, like, a date?" asked Ian.
"More like a 'getting to know one another' event." signed Crystal, "Hediye recommended we go to the Manticore's Tavern; I hear it just got remodeled."
"Oh yeah, I know that place; in fact, my mom hangs out with the Manticore on the weekends to practice swordfighting."
"Wow. Your mom must be tough." signed Crystal.
"Yeah, well, she did raise me and my brother to be who we are today." Ian chucked, "Anyways, sure, I'd love to hang out sometime."
"Great!" signed Crystal before handing Ian a piece of paper, "This is my information. Contact me and we can set up a time to get together."
"Okay, sure." said Ian.
"Okay. Bye!"
As the two girls walked off, Ian looked at the piece of paper, which was written in violet metallic gel pen.
"Crystal Moonbeam. Huh. That's a nice name." said Ian to himself.
