Laurel couldn't believe her ears when Ian told her about the girl from earlier after coming home.

"You're going on a date? Oh, my little boy is growing up." She said as she started kissing Ian on the cheek.

"Mom, it's just an outing to get to know one another." said Ian, blushing.

"Well I'm certainly proud of you, Ian." said Colt as he lightly punched Ian in the arm to show his gratitude.

"Wait, you said this girl was Deaf, right?" asked Barley, "Does she sign?"

"Yeah." said Ian, "But don't worry; she usually has an interpreter with her."

"No, I think that's great." said Barley, "In fact..."

Barley quickly went to the kitchen table and quickly retrieved his Quests of Yore player book and opened it to show Ian a page with an illustration of an elf wearing gauntlets signing as light shoots out of them.

"In olden times, there were Deaf wizards. Instead of using a staff, they used special magic gauntlets to cast their spells by signing."

"Oh, that's cool." said Ian, "Well, I'm not sure if Crystal will know any spells, but she knows I'm a wizard, so I might tell her about that."
