Suspect in Last Night's Hit and Run Arrested
Earlier this morning, Katie Mackamara got taken into custody. There is reason to suspect she was involved in last night's hit and run, which killed one teen, and injured another. The doctors say the surviving teen will recover in full from their injuries. The victims' families wish to stay anonymous at this moment.
They released Big Red from the hospital later that day. In the car crash, Big Red's right arm broke, and so did his nose, and he had a minor concussion. He also had stitches all across his body, making walking a challenge.
Ricky had joined Big Red to help him get settled back in. "Do you need anything?" Ricky asked.
"I'm fine," Big Red said. That was a total lie. How could anyone in his position be okay? Under twenty-four hours ago, Big Red was getting ready to put on a musical with his closest friends. He was sneaking quiet moments with his girlfriend. His entire world turned upside down in less than a day. Ashlyn was gone, and Big Red's arm was in a cast.
"Did you see the news?" Ricky asked. "They caught a potential suspect. They caught her the morning after."
"Yeah," Big Red muttered. Even if the suspect got life in prison, he wouldn't be happy. The image from last night kept flashing in his mind. In the middle of the road, his Ashlyn lay. At that moment, he knew she was gone. She had been ejected from the car too far of a distance. However, he didn't want to believe it. How do you move on after losing your first love?
"I think I'm going to try and sleep," Big Red said. That's all he had the energy to do right now.
"Okay," Ricky said. "I'll be here when you wake up."
Big Red nodded off, falling into slumber.
Big Red dreamed of the crash again. This time, the events went differently. Ashlyn stayed in the car this time, but her injuries still appeared. Big Red could barely recognize his girlfriend. The monster appeared again, this time picking up the vehicle. The dream had the same ending, with the beast killing Ashlyn.
Big Red woke up, spotting Ricky in the corner. He was texting someone, probably Gina or E.J. E.J hadn't visited Big Red while he was awake. Ricky told him he was at the hospital while he was out but left with his father, probably to deal with the familial ramifications of the previous night.
"I got a call from the hospital," Mrs. Rednovich said. "You won't believe this. A mysterious angel donor has paid the medical bills."
