Theme: No Way Out

Prompts: Paralytic Drugs, "No one's coming."

Whumpee: Alec Lightwood

Song: "There Isn't Any God", Rusty Cage

When Alec had woken up, healed from the injuries he sustained in the fight against the Greater Demon Abbadon, he was shocked to have learned that Jace's father was alive and, in fact, Valentine Morgenstern. The part that didn't surprise him was that in the end, Jace didn't join his father. Alec knew his parabatai, knew he would never betray them like that.

As he watched his parabatai, Alec could tell that he needed help, despite denying it. But every time Alec tried to bring it up, Jace pushed him away. Eventually, that led to Alec deciding to leave the Institute for a while to take a walk. The walk's intention was to clear his head, but that didn't exactly work, because all he could think about was his worry for Jace.

Maybe he should have concentrated a little harder on his surroundings, because he never noticed the man coming up behind him until it was too late.

The sharp point of a needle pressed into Alec's neck and he let out a pained gasp, his hands flying up towards his neck. Yet it was too late as the drugs began to kick in and he fell unconscious. The last he saw was the blurry figure of a man leaning over him, whispering something gleefully.

Alec woke up in a cell, lying on his side. He tried to move his body to get up, but quickly found out that he couldn't. Huh…?

"So you're finally awake, Alexander Lightwood," a voice said. Alec managed to drag his eyes up to see the man towering above him and immediately realized just who he was.

By the look on the man's face, he also saw that Alec knew. "That's correct. I'm Valentine Morgenstern… Your parabatai's father."

A twisting feeling came into Alec's gut. The way he said that… As if it were that important…

"You see," Valentine went on, "My son has been quite disobedient lately. I can forgive Clarissa; she wasn't raised by me, after all. But Jonathan?" Valentine's eyes darkened. "I raised him for ten years. That's most of his life. And yet he still says no to me." He gave a dark smile. "So I suppose taking his parabatai would teach him a lesson, no?"

What are you going to do to me? Alec wanted to demand, but he couldn't move, couldn't do anything. Why can't I move?

"Are you wondering about your current immobility?" Valentine wondered. "You've been given paralytic drugs, Alexander. They'll wear off soon, but," he shrugged. "I suppose we'll just have to reapply them. For now, enjoy your stay in the dungeons. I'm sure the demons will make fantastic company."

Alec felt panic shoot through him as Valentine left, and from the corner of his vision, he could see demons lurking just outside the bars of the cell. No! He wanted to scream.

Jace will come for me, Alec quickly told himself. And Isabelle. They'll come for me.

Yet the hours went on and no one came.

As the paralytic drugs began to wear out, Valentine held onto his promise and reapplied them. Alec hated his inability to move, to do anything to escape, and could only watch as Valentine left again.

Even more hours passed.

Still, no one came.

Eventually, Alec admitted to himself, No one's coming.
