"I hate to be the voice of reason," the captain of the guard said as he applied a little more pressure with the end of his rake. "And admittedly I kinda dig the bad girl vibe you have currently going." In a gentle scrubbing motion, he snapped the pick out. "But are you sure this is a good idea?" He bumped the pins on his way out, listening for the smallest noise. "Breaking and entering isn't usually your style." The lock's plug rotated almost unnoticeable and he smiled.
"Easy for you to say. Eugene," Rapunzel begged. "I need to know. He had a worse poker face than Nigel. Pretty please."
Once again, the crown prince of the dark kingdom inserted his pick into the back of the lock and repeated the process. "Relax Blondie, it's an art, not a science." One pin after another set with a subtle click, till all found their place and -
"Tadaaaa!"
The door swung open.
"You did it!" The princess cheered and gave him a quick peck on the cheek as she rushed past him and into the room where they stored the ambassador's belongings.
Rather pleased with himself Eugene stood behind while his future wife went for the fancy black bag the man used to carry around. Granted, he was a little proud of her.
"We could get in lots of trouble." He didn't have it in him to hide his swagger. "Stealing from a foreign diplomat."
"It's not stealing," she brushed him off. "I just wanna have a quick sneak peek. That's all. Nothing taken, ergo nothing stolen."
"If you say so," the former thief coughed. "How was the city tour anyway?" He asked as he kept a lookout.
Literally anything that could go wrong, did.
"Oh well, I think he liked the hot shower in the morning and maybe the weather, besides that..." Rapunzel shrugged and continued to rifle through the minister's personal stuff. It had to be here somewhere.
Her eyes caught a leather envelope at the same moment Eugene heard the echoes of footsteps approaching them.
"Hurry! Someone is coming!"
"Just a second." The princess went for it and bingo!
He could already see the long shadows cast by the figures. "Blondie," Eugene warned but she wasn't listening.
"Aha!" Rapunzel exclaimed. There. In it was what she'd been looking for. Carefully she opened the envelope, holding the future of Corona in her hands.
"Playtime is over Sunshine." Eugene flung her over his shoulder.
"Hey, wait!"
"We have to go bye-bye now."
