Author's Note: This is just a quick thought to paper story I made before bed. I hope you like it.

End of Author's Note

On a clear and cloudless night, a small unicorn was running through a field of tall grass but they were not alone.

"Come on. You need to be faster than that." the first one said cheerfully.

"I can't. I am tired. And scared." the other one said, stopping in their tracks to take a breath.

"It's ok. I think we are almost out. I can feel it." The first one said again.

"But…" the second one said with doubt.

"No buts. Trust me, just through this field there will be somepony that will watch over us," they said cheerfully. The other one was still doubtful. "I know you can do it. Come on." the first one said before continuing their walk through the grass.

With just a few steps the end of the field became visible and lights from a village were seen. The first unicorn was overjoyed and yelled, "we did it. We now can…" but when they looked around no pony was there. "Hello. Where did you go?" they said looking through the grass but there was no sign of anypony. They panicked and sat down. "Came out please?" they said with tears in their eyes. "You were there? We are supposed to be together?" tears swelled up and began to fall. "Please come out!?" they finally yelled.

In that next moment, Izzy woke up yelling "...out!" with tears in her eyes. She shot out of bed and looked around. She accidentally woke everypony up.

"What's wrong Izzy?" Sunny asked with worry.

"Another nightmare?" Zipp said.

"Izzy…" said a very worried Misty who was now living in the brighthouse since leaving Opaline's side.

"It's fine everypony. I'm not sure what it was." Izzy said tears were still streaming down her face.

"Want to talk about it?" Sunny asked.

"Yeah. we are here for you Izzy." Pipp said.

"Thanks everypony but it's fine." Izzy tried to give them her usual smile but she was very stiff and was obviously forcing it. Her friends were worried and that showed on their faces. "I think I will go for a walk to clear my head," she said getting out of bed and walking out of the brighthouse. The others were still worried but didn't want to force Izzy to talk so they all agreed to go to bed. Well except one. Misty.

Misty has grown a strong friendship with Izzy since they met. At first, she hated out touchy feely and talkative Izzy was but she was nice and had been by her side since leaving Opaline. She even felt guilty whenever she remembered the horrified face Izzy made when she found out Misty worked with Opaline. However, despite that, she was the first to welcome her to the brighthouse. She could never forget that kindness. This time she wanted to help her so she followed Izzy in the hopes of doing just that.

She followed Izzy's hoofprints and found her behind the brighthouse, by the cliff, watching the full moon.

It took a moment to find her voice but eventually Misty asked, "Izzy…you ok?"

Izzy was surprised that Misty followed her and smiled. "Yeah." This answer was unusually short so even Misty knew she was not.

"Hey, Izzy…I…Uhm…" Misty couldn't find the words. She never was good at words but now it was extra hard. She didn't know what to say to help her friend. She was also scared she would say something wrong.

"Hey Misty. Have you ever felt like you forgot something important?" Izzy asked out of nowhere.

"Sometimes," Misty said, walking up beside Izzy. "Is this about your dream?"

"Yeah. I don't know but I feel like it was more of a memory than a dream but I just can't remember," Izzy said, holding her head trying to remember.

"Don't force it. It will come to you. It usually did for me." Misty said. "Or Opaline reminded me." this time she shuddered at the thought of Opaline and how she normally 'helped' Misty remember things.

"I guess but I just know it's important. Like so important it would be bad and I mean really bad if I forgot it." Izzy looked Misty in the eyes with a few tears still lingering.

"Well maybe saying the thoughts out loud will help you remember," Misty suggested.

"Maybe," Izzy said in doubt.

"I will listen if you want?" Misty said.

"You sure?" Izzy asked in surprise.

"Not sure if it will help but I would like to do my best to help you in any way I can." She said with determination.

"Well…" Izzy said, trying to think of a good place to start. "First there are two ponies. Me and somepony else. I feel like this pony is important."

"Somepony from Bridlewood?" Misty questioned.

"No. We were younger. Much younger than when I arrived at Bridlewood." Izzy explained.

"Oh right you said you arrived at Bridlewood when you were a filly. Right?"

"Yes. Alphabittle and other unicorns took me in. I think me and this other unicorn were searching for a home together." Izzy said with a sad expression.

"What do you think this other pony was to you?" Misty asked.

"I don't know. Important since I feel a sense of guilt from remembering her." Izzy asked.

"Why?" Misty asked.

"I lost track of her. We were together one moment and the next she was gone. I couldn't help her." Izzy said with tears in her eyes.

"Do you think she was family?" Misty asked.

"Family?" Izzy asked. "Like my real family?" She thought about it. "Maybe. I don't remember my parents though so I don't know for sure."

Misty realized this line of questioning was not helping. It seemed to be making Izzy more upset.

"I am sorry. I don't think this is helping."

"It's ok. I actually feel better talking about it. Thanks misty." Izzy then began to get up and walk away when she remembered something. "Oh there was one more detail. Minor but who knows. I am pretty sure we were in a field of tall grass. I think we were being chased by something." she said. This time Misty got wide eyed and she began to cry.

Izzy was stunned and ran to her. "Misty, what is wrong? Are you ok?"

"I just remembered something." she said in a daze. "Before I met Opaline I was running in a field of tall grass. I wasn't alone. Someone was with me. Calling me. They were telling me that we were almost there."

Izzy remembered her dream, "almost there." she whispered to herself.

"They were saying somepony would watch over us." Misty continued.

"...watch over…" Izzy whispered.

"I couldn't keep up though. I could hear them calling but I couldn't find them." Misty said, crying. "I tried. I really did but before I knew it I couldn't hear them anymore. That was when Opaline found me and took me to her home." MIsty said. Izzy was still thinking. She felt like the memory was about the resurface.

"I wish I was able to keep up. I wish I could be with them. I didn't want to be alone!" Misty finally yelled.

Then out of nowhere Izzy went in for a hug saying, "you tried your best. I am sorry I left you." after realizing what she just said she pulled away. "I remember. It was you. You were the filly that was with me."

"I remember too. I am so sorry I couldn't keep up!" Misty said, still crying.

"No. I should have waited. I am sorry I left you alone." Izzy said going in for another huge.

"But…" Misty said.

"No buts. We are both at fault. Ok?" Izzy said as a compromise.

"But…" Misty said.

"I said no buts. Just let it out and trust me when I say I won't leave you alone again." Izzy said.

Misty remembered Izzy's confident smile from when they were fillies and just couldn't help but believe her. She then let out all her tears. Izzy shed quite a few as well.

After a few minutes they both finally calmed down.

"Sorry for that?" Misty said.

"Don't worry about it?" Izzy said.

After a few moments of silence Izzy asked, "so we knew each other when we were fillies but were we friends or family?"

"I don't remember." Misty said.

"Me neither. Oh well. At least my deja vu feeling is cleared up." Izzy said happily.

"Deja vu feeling?" Misty said with curiosity.

"Yeah. Ever since I met you I felt like I knew you from somewhere. It was just a weird feeling I got. I even said, 'hi friend' instead of 'hi new friend' like normal. Remember?"

"Oh yeah. You did say I felt different somehow." Misty said giggling at their first meeting in maritime bay.

"I just thought you were going to be my first unicorn friend and I guess you were but from long ago." she said, emphasizing the 'O'."

"Well at least it is settled now. Right?" Misty said.

"Yep. family or friends it doesn't matter now. We are together again with our new family and friends." Izzy said.

Misty nodded in agreement then gave a huge yawn.

"I guess it is time to go back to bed." Izzy said.

"Yeah." Misty said.

Once they made it to bed neither of them could sleep. They just discovered something amazing and didn't want to sleep. So in unison they both gathered their pillows and blankets and made their own sleeping area. For the next hour they talked about everything until they finally fell asleep.

The next morning the group awoke to them sleeping.

"I guess the talk went well." Sunny said.

"Surprisingly." Zipp said.

"No kidding." Pipp said.

With that they all walked away to eat breakfast and just left Izzy and Misty to finish their sleep.
