So, funny story.
I remember a while ago—almost a whole year ago, in fact—I decided to play around with the idea of Julie/Mags in my AU after getting so many comments about how they already act like an old married couple. So, I decided to pen this thing out to get a feel for it before eventually having it transition into smut (Because ALL creators eventually think about their OCs having sex, and if they don't, they're a liar), and honestly didn't even fully finish with it as I was content with it just living on my hard drive as a mere experiment.
But then, I got to talking with KirakaJu_On and another friend about my AU before I offhandedly mentioned how I entertained the idea of Julie/Mags to the point I wrote smut about it, and to my surprise they were ALL for it—even to the point of saying they already shipped them anyway, lol. So, I decided to actually sit down and finish this thing out mostly for their sake/consumption.
And it was also because of them and me bouncing ideas off of them that I decided to pull the trigger and make it canon, as the possibilities that would unfold for my future plans of this AU would be amazing with this development thrown into the mix.
I will also admit that even this finished product was written a few months ago, even, and that I decided that it would be best to establish their relationship now rather than later so that I don't have to juggle too many things for the plans I've got after I (eventually lol) finish Lost and Found.
And, also, my friend Wolf-Chalk was awesome enough to sketch Mags and Julie themselves because I similarly do not shut the fuck up about them as I do with the rest of my AU lmao, so here they are!
But, most importantly, I want to clarify that this is a CENSORED version of this fic, as I realize that all M-rated fics are hidden by default on FanFiction, and with a development as important as this happening in my AU, I feel like it's something that needs a little more priority on being seen by a general audience, so I helpfully cut out the (definitely) M-rated bits of this story to dumb it down to an acceptable T rating.
So, in case you want to enjoy this story a little more, be sure to pop onto my profile for the full (and more accurately, canon) 18+ rated version that also helpfully delves into their feelings a bit more.
But, with this gigantic wall of text aside, I hope you enjoy this fic nonetheless!
"And then I said, what the hell is wrong with all of you? The GR38 is supposed to be used for rockets, not missiles!" Julie exclaims in disbelief as she sat next to Mags on his couch, barely paying attention to the holovision as she ranted. "I swear, it's like they were trying to piss me off with that!"
"Don't those two literally mean the same thing?" Mags asks, barely glancing over from the holovision.
"Of course they don't! Missiles are guided, and rockets aren't! How do you not know that?" She argues, crossing her arms.
Mags taps his head with the heel of his hand. "Ah, sorry, you're totally right. I keep forgetting I should know about the intricacies of weapon design as much as a senior weapons development supervisor. Don't worry, it won't happen again the next time you go off about… parabolic ion trajectories, or whatever they're called." He says with a wave of his hand.
"Hey, you actually got that one right!" Julie says with a laugh. "Maybe you're actually learning a thing or two from all my rants!"
"If only that was the case with you and my complaints about your flying." Mags retorts, smirking at her.
"Hey, I am actually getting better at flying now, I'll have you know." Julie says proudly, crossing her arms while raising her head up in a snooty gesture.
He turns his head to her with a raised brow. "Oh?"
"Yeah! I've gone a full two weeks so far without even bumping into anything with my ship!" She says happily, holding up two fingers for emphasis.
His eyes widen. "Wow, that's actually pretty… Hey, wait a minute! I've been giving you rides to and from the Center for the past few weeks! When was the last time you've flown?" He asks firmly.
"Like, a couple days ago, why?" She says with a shrug.
"And the last time before that?"
She nervously laughs with a wave of her hand.
"Oh, come on! I don't think that's really important—"
"Answer the question."
She stares at him with a slight frown, but he just stares right back with a raised eyebrow, unyielding, and neither was she.
But as the seconds tick on, the holovision droning on in the background, it is before long that their tense yet unspoken standoff is broken as she crosses her arms with a huff, slumping into the couch.
"Two weeks." She grumbles quietly.
"Aw, and here I was getting hopeful." Mags says with mock disappointment, unable to help but give a smug grin, turning back to the holovision.
She reaches over to give him a light punch on the shoulder, making him laugh.
"Shut up, you jerk. At least I know the difference between rockets and missiles." She says crossing her arms.
He chuckles, rubbing his shoulder. "Yep, I guess you have me there."
"Damn right I do." Julie says with a small smile.
And with that, they both fully return their attention back to the holovision in front of them, playing reruns of some random show that neither of them have seen before, and too focused in their conversation earlier to really care about what was playing anyway.
It was a pretty standard ritual for the two of them—just hanging out at each other's houses after a long day at work to just relax and unwind, and sometimes to also rant about their problems if it was an especially long day. Kaden would sometimes join them, but for the most part, it was just the two of them who partook in this activity together.
And now, with Ratchet back in Kaden's life, he almost never hung out with them like this anymore, opting instead to just spend time with his son, which they didn't mind one bit at all, more than happy for him being able to even do so after all these years.
Sometimes they'd play games, sometimes there would be a few drinks, but mostly, it was just them on a couch, holovision on as background noise for their conversations. Very rarely did they just watch it purely to watch whatever was playing, but it was sometimes a source of entertainment when they decide to play a favorite game of making fun of the show if it was especially ridiculous.
Unfortunately, though, this random sitcom wasn't bad enough to really make an event of it, just being mediocre enough to just simply watch and consume, the sounds of canned laughter at dumb jokes filling the otherwise empty air.
But then, it soon fades to black, with a commercial quickly replaced in its stead to set off the next five minutes of ads.
"Have you and your lover ever wanted a certain spice in your life?" An all too cliché-sounding seductive woman announces as scenes of a beach start playing.
"Oh, this is a new one." Mags comments with little interest, his head propped up on his fist, resting on the armchair of the couch.
"Does your relationship need a little kick?" She continues, shifting to a panning shot of a bed with pink, silk sheets. "Or perhaps, just a place to let it all loose?" The shot then shifts to what looks like a heart-shaped hot tub, bubbling with all sorts of jacuzzi jets.
Julie raises an eyebrow. "What kind of commercial is this? Is this about a sex shop or something?"
Mags shrugs. "I wouldn't be surprised, it's getting kinda late, so it'd be safe to show those kinds of ads." He says as he glances to a clock on the wall, displaying that it was almost midnight. "It's kinda funny though, honestly."
"Whatever you desire, it can be found at the luxurious Luminopolis Lover's Leave Resort on planet Igliak." She says, a logo popping up as the background shows a large and—quite honestly—beautiful building with 'Lover's Leave' written in giant, pink neon letters across the top of the building.
"Aw, I was close." Julie says with disappointment at the reveal, throwing an arm in an 'aw shucks' gesture.
"From massages, spas, and a wide assortment of adult activities, we have everything you could possibly want to satisfy both you and your lover." The commercial continues, showing shots of their services, while only having a blurred screen and a heart on the last point.
"Don't have a partner? No problem. Here at the Lover's Leave, purchase our singles' pass, and gain access to exclusive matchmaking programs to find the perfect someone for you, whether it be for life, or just this one night." The woman says in an insinuating tone, able to practically hear the wink in her voice.
"The Lover's Leave Resort, a place to relax the mind, body, and most importantly—heart."
"And apparently, the perfect place to also buy a one-night stand, too." Julie says amusedly, rolling her eyes as the holovision begins to play an ad for some product to help clean your kitchen five times faster than its competitor. "And I guarantee it would not be worth the price for the kind of losers who have to buy that pass thing, too."
"Well, to be fair, they said you might find something more than a one-night stand." Mags retorts, raising a finger.
"Well, sure, but imagine how sad it'd be that that's the only way you can get laid." Julie says with a small chuckle. "By paying for it, instead of just, like, going to a bar and meeting up with someone, or something." She adds with a shrug.
Mags raises an eyebrow. "Is that from experience?" He asks with a smirk.
She scoffs. "No, but I'm just saying that if I needed to, then I guarantee it'd be that easy to pick someone up." She argues.
"Well, you go ahead and think that, but just know that it isn't. Trust me." Mags replies casually as he looks back to the holovision.
Julie looks back at him with some surprise, raising her eyebrow as well. "Is that from experience?" She questions.
He doesn't answer for a moment, still watching the holovision as Julie continues to look at him expectantly, finding that little tidbit to be a bit curious with how matter-of-factly he stated it.
But then, he gives a small sigh with a nod of his head. "Yeah." He says with some disappointment.
"Oh." She replies with some surprise, not really know how to responds to that. "Erm… Well… What's so hard about it, then, if you don't mind me asking?" She asks hesitantly with a shrug.
He shrugs. "It's just… Anyone who I might have had a chance with eventually just tells me that I seem boring, and not that good looking to make up for it, either." He states simply, holding up a hand while rolling his eyes.
"Wait, what? Come on, that's bullshit." Julie argues, waving a hand. "You aren't boring! I mean, you've checked out like, all of the multiverse for yourself, right? And you know a ton about ships, too, with Centauri out there being one of the sweetest rides I've ever seen." She says with a smile, thumbing behind them to the door outside.
"Well, yeah, I know, but I can't really talk about the multiverse stuff since over half of it's classified to people outside the Center. So, then I just start to gush about ships, and it just turns people off when I can't really talk about much else, since I mostly like talking about my job as an interdimensional researcher that I can't really talk about with normal people." He says as he scratches the back of his head.
"And, well, it's true that I'm not exactly the best-looking guy around, either, so there's that, too." He finishes pointedly with a small shrug, looking back to the holovision.
"Hey, don't say that about yourself, I think you look pretty good!" Julie says with a small smile, once again very lightly punching his shoulder in his assurance.
He gives a small laugh. "It's alright, Julie, I'm not about to go crying myself to sleep over it or anything. I'm fine, really. You don't have to say that to make me feel better."
"What? I'm not just saying that." Julie says as she sits up straighter from her reclined position on the couch, surprising Mags a bit. "I mean, you take care of yourself, your fur always looks nice, you've got a great fashion sense, you've got a good-looking face, and I've got say that those glasses you got look pretty spiffy on you, too." She says, gesturing to him. "You do look good, Mags, trust me."
His eyes widen slightly at the compliment. "Oh, well… Erm… Thanks, Julie." He says dumbly.
"And, hey, like I said, you've got a great personality, too! You're smart, you're nice, you care about your friends, and you're funny, too—even if it's because you're a smartass sometimes." Julie says with a smile. "If you were really that boring, I sure as hell would've stopped hanging out with you a long time ago. But as-is, I love hanging out with you, Mags, or else I wouldn't be sitting here in your house watching shitty sitcoms at like, midnight." She finishes amusedly.
Mags stares at her for a few moments as she maintains her smile, looking back into his eyes before he eventually huffs a small laugh through his nose with a fond smile.
"If only every other girl I tried to get with was like you, Julie, then I wouldn't be sitting here complaining to you." He comments.
"Well, if they really didn't want to get with you, then I'd say they're just a couple of bitches, and it's their loss." Julie says firmly, crossing her arms.
"Yeah, I guess you're right." Mags says contentedly as he returns his attention back to the holovision, shortly before Julie does as well, giving a satisfied nod with a smile.
They see that there are still ads playing from when they began this little talk, with the one right now advertising some drama show that will have its very emotional season finale in only three days, telling viewers to be sure not to miss it.
But Mags wasn't paying it much attention, instead stealing glances over to Julie as she too watched along, clearly with little interest, judging by that look in her eyes that he knew too well, that look of boredom almost always precluding a mischievous smile and the very much feared words of 'I have an idea.'
This time, however, Mags was the one to break the silence as he finally turns his head to look back at her fully.
"Have you had any luck?" He reluctantly asks, rubbing the back of his head.
"…Nah." Julie says, shaking her head. "I guess I'm in the same boat as you. I've just spent so much time in my work for the Council and Weapons Division that I can't really talk with normal people anymore."
She then gives a sigh, shrugging her shoulders.
"And, well, guys who manage to stay with me for more than ten minutes just tell me that I am way too much of a handful to deal with." She says, looking away.
However, instead of some reassurance, she hears Mags gives a little snicker, making Julie snap over to him with a frown.
"Hey, isn't this the part where you say 'No, it's okay, Julie, they're totally wrong, don't listen to them, they don't know what they're talking about'?" She pouts.
"No, they're right. You are a handful." Mags says with a smile, much to her chagrin.
But as Julie opens her mouth to argue with him, he quickly follows up with a raised finger, cutting her off.
"But, I like that about you." He states, still holding a smile. "Because while you may be called a lot of things, 'boring' sure as hell isn't one of them. I mean, nearly every little thing with you is an adventure in and of itself, and I like being along for the ride—even if I have to be the one to steer it away from total chaos sometimes."
Julie looks at him for a few seconds, caught off guard by that unexpectedly genuine follow-up, Mags still looking back at her with a smile.
She then turns her head away while wearing a small one of her own.
"Thanks." She utters.
"Don't mention it." Mags says fondly, turning back to the holovision once more.
They sit in silence for another handful of commercials, watching as the holovision turns back into the sitcom they were originally watching. But Julie wasn't watching it at all, instead bouncing something around in her mind while constantly glancing over to Mags, mulling something over before she decides to open her mouth.
"You know…" She says a little dramatically, rolling her eyes, "Those guys were also telling me that I'm just too damn ugly to even stomach to look at for more than five seconds, and that really sucked." She declares, looking over to him with a 'woe is me' expression.
Mags then laughs, breaking his gaze away from the sitcom as he looks at her.
"Do you just want me to tell you you're pretty, Julie?" He asks amusedly.
She shrugs, wearing a smirk.
"Maybe." She states innocently.
He gives another chuckle, rolling his eyes. "Alright, you are pretty, Julie, I'll give you that. Even though you smell like gunpowder half the time, and you sometimes have singed fur or a few burn scars from being a little overzealous with a new design, you are still a good-looking person."
However, her smirk falls off her face as she instead gives a small frown while crossing her arms. "Hey, I was nicer than that when I was saying how attractive you are, dick!" She pouts.
"Wait, attractive?" Mags repeats with surprise, widening his eyes. "I don't think that's the word you used to describe me earlier."
"Oh…" Julie replies, her annoyed demeanor faltering for a moment, realizing what she said. "Well… Didn't it kinda go without saying?" She asks, furrowing her brows while raising an uncertain hand.
"I mean… I guess?" He says, scratching the back of his head.
"Yeah. And… If I said that, then I think you owe me a little more than 'I smell like gunpowder' to make it even." Julie says, her usual bite returning to her voice as she smirks, raising her head haughtily.
Once again, Mags begins to stare at her, wearing an odd look on his face as she sees his eyes dart up and down herself, seemingly not knowing what to make of this development.
And for some reason, seeing his eyes wander like that on her, it made her feel… nice.
But before she could chew on that little tidbit, she is broken out of her thoughts as Mags chuckles, rolling his eyes as he shifts on the couch, resting an arm on the backrest as he fully faces her, wearing a soft smile.
"Alright, fine." He begins. "Even though you do smell like gunpowder, it honestly just adds to your prettiness, in my opinion. You don't care about what people think about you, and you just have this awesome confidence about you with everything you do. And even though you sometimes have singed fur and scars, it doesn't do anything to make you less attractive, because you still have those bright eyes and beautiful smile, and you still have that same laugh that can't help but make others laugh along with you—especially me. And when you don't have singed fur, then you are borderline perfect, like you're a top model in a fashion magazine that's also about guns for some reason."
Julie stares at him with a dumbfounded look, stunned into a surprised silence, making him return a smug smile.
"That good enough for you, then?" He asks innocently.
She snaps out of her thoughts as she manages to give a small nod.
"Y-Yeah, I think we're even, now." She sputters.
He gives a nod. "Good."
Once again, they return their attention back to the holovision, but neither of them pay any attention to it, now both too caught up in their thoughts after he unloaded all of that, now just lingering in the air between them, filling it with a kind of tension that was… not unlikeable, they both had to admit.
It is a few anxious minutes before Julie coyly glances over to Mags, then back to the holovision, and back at him again, chewing on her lip all the while before she decides to break the silence.
"You… You really mean all that?" She asks a little quietly, lacking her usual careless confidence.
Mags doesn't reply for a moment, making her feel nervous for some reason, almost making her want to just tell him to forget it before he looks down, scratching the back of his head.
"I mean… Yeah." He says with a shrug. "I did."
Neither of them says anything for another tense minute, and unbeknownst to the other, they could feel their own heart pound as they're swept with a strange new feeling. A feeling that makes Julie feel more than a little warm and fuzzy inside, prompting her to give a small, warm smile as something suddenly pops into her head.
"You know…" She says quietly, scooting a little closer to Mags on the couch. "I… Can't say I hate the idea of us being… You know… 'Us'." She states with a shrug.
Mags snaps his gaze up from the floor and instead over to her with wide eyes, seeing how she was nervously fiddling with her fingers in her lap. "W-What do you mean?"
"Well, you know…" She replies, rolling her eyes. "We both just said how we like each other, and how we're also both having problems in the relationship department. So… You know… Why not give it a try?" She asks with a coy shrug.
Mags gulps, fully understanding what she meant. "I-I mean… I can't say I'm… Opposed to the idea at least."
Julie perks up a bit at this, smiling a bit more, but Mags continues.
"But—What if it doesn't work out, or something?" He asks anxiously, rubbing the back of his head. "I mean, I don't want things to get weird between us. I really like you as a friend, Julie, I really do, and… I don't want to ruin that if this doesn't work out for whatever reason." He says, looking away a bit.
Julie slumps with an unimpressed look.
"Mags, we've known each other for like, twenty years at least." Julie says flatly, rolling her eyes. "We practically know everything about each other. If there was going to be something that would break us up, it would definitely have to be more than some dumb relationship. If it doesn't work out, then we're just gonna get over it like every other thing that's put some strain between us."
He mulls over her argument a bit as she smiles, raising her eyebrows while looking at him expectantly, right before he returns one of her one.
"I… Guess you're right about that." He states with some more optimism. "If I'm still your friend after the way you destroyed Taurus, then I guess I don't know what it'll take to split us up for good, then, huh?"
"Right? Exactly." She states with a nod, right before registering what he said, and looking away while rubbing the back of her head with a nervous laugh. "Erm… Sorry again for that, by the way. I really didn't mean to wreck—"
To her surprise, she's cut off as he scoots over closer to her as well—now right up next to her on the couch, and places his hand on top of hers resting on the cushion, prompting a wide-eyed look from her, seeing a warm smile on his face.
"Hey, like I said, I forgave you, didn't I?" He says softly. "And, if we really are going to try out this thing between us, then I say we make sure we don't start it off on a sour note like that, huh?"
She looks at his hand resting on hers, and back up to his face, then back down at their hands, then back up to his face once more. And after a few moments of finally registering what was happening, she slowly returns a warm smile as well, turning over her hand on the cushion to grip his in return.
"Yeah, you're right." She whispers.
They then just rest there, sitting on the couch mere inches away from each other, staring into each other's eyes as they smile, just drinking in this strange new feeling of the idea of 'us'—and enjoying it as well.
And despite how strange it felt to have this feeling between this person they've known for a good part of their lives… Both of them agreed that it felt good. Really good. Like it was only the most natural thing in the world.
Slowly, Julie starts to lean forward, and Mags takes the signal to lean forward as well, their eyes slowly closing as they near to each other. They start to feel the other's soft breath dance across their lips, and in a moment later, they make electrifying contact with each other as they kiss each other.
This new feeling between them was instantly multiplied a hundred-fold as they feel butterflies in their stomachs, their hearts pounding, and minds racing as they can hardly believe that they were really kissing each other, not wanting to break from it anytime soon.
They find that their mouths start to open a little more, and their tongues soon meet, sending another wave of gratifying pleasure through their bodies. And as their tongues danced in each other's mouths, their hands start to wrap onto the other's body, holding each other tightly against themselves in a fierce moment of passion, savoring their touch and enjoying their warmth.
Soon, however, the lack of oxygen makes them begrudgingly break from their kiss, opening their eyes for the first time as they catch a breath and stare into the other's half-lidded gaze, wearing dumb smiles.
"I… Wow…" Mags breathes.
"Why haven't we done this sooner?" Julie asks.
"I have no clue. But… I say that we should start making up for all that lost time." He says playfully, which makes Julie giggle.
"Agreed."
And with that, they resume passionately making out with each other in a fierce embrace, their hands starting to become a little more active as they start rubbing the other's back, and anxiously wander to explore further.
They quickly learn to breathe through their mouths in the middle of their embrace so that they don't have to break apart to end their kissing prematurely once again, instead wanting to use all of their time together to indulge in this new desire for the other that had suddenly been awakened in them.
And it was in indulging in this newfound desire that eventually led to their hands beginning to wander to more… desirable parts of their bodies, their hearts beginning to pound as they both knew what was going to happen next.
"Holy shit…" Julie breathes, panting whilst laying naked atop Mags' bed. "That… Was definitely the best sex I've ever had."
"Same here." Mags agrees, panting right alongside her, similarly naked. "You were amazing."
She turns her head to look at him, giving him a smile. "Not as good as you and your… Well, I guess he isn't such a little friend, actually." She says, looking down to his exposed crotch.
He chuckles a little, looking down at it too before returning his gaze back onto her face, taking his hand and resting it on top of hers in between them before holding it with a tender grip.
She looks back down at it in mild surprise, however, making Mags furrow his brows in worry. "What? Is this not okay or something?" He asks, admittedly a little fearful if that was the case.
"No!" She quickly reassures him, her face also displaying worry at the question as he feels her squeeze back on his hand tightly, right before it quickly relaxes along with her expression.
"Erm, no, this is… Alright." She tells him more gently with a small smile, squeezing his hand again, but with intentional care rather than the instinctual grip she just gave. "I like it."
He breathes an internal sigh of relief as he too smiles at her. "Okay, good." He whispers. "Me too."
They say nothing for a few moments, opting instead to just appreciate the other's presence, looking into their eyes as they bask in the afterglow, not even really paying attention to the fact that they were both naked right now, instead focused on the fact that they held the other in their hands, feeling all warm and fuzzy from the simple yet amazing sensation.
"So, uh…" Mags speaks up softly, breaking the silence as he coyly looks away. "Where… Exactly do we go from here?"
She furrows her brow in confusion. "What do you mean?"
He gives a small shrug. "Well… I guess we're a thing now, right?"
"Erm, I'd say so, yeah." She says with a nod, albeit slightly confused. "I mean, I'd hope so considering what we just did."
"Yeah, and if that's the case… Now what?" He asks. "Are we supposed to, like… Do anything different than we normally would? You know, as like… Boyfriend and girlfriend?"
She mulls over his idea for a few moments, looking away in thought while quietly humming to herself, but then she shakes her head, looking back at him.
"No, I don't think so." She says. "I mean… If we are boyfriend and girlfriend now, it doesn't mean that we have to do stuff we normally wouldn't. Like, we're still going to go to work together, I'm going to be shooting some new guns, you're going to go out and explore some new dimensions, and you're probably still going to get on my ass about my piloting skills, anyway, right?"
"I… Guess that's true." He agrees, albeit with an amused smile at that last part, uttering a soft laugh through his nose.
She nods. "Yeah. And we're still going to have our little nights to unwind like we normally do, too. Except, you know, now we have another way to… Unwind." She says with a lecherous smirk. "And it's definitely a hell of a lot better than watching cheesy sitcoms, wouldn't you say so?"
He chuckles, gripping onto her hand even tighter as he rolls onto his side to face her better, wearing a warm smile. "You know it." He says fondly. "I can't wait to unwind with you some more, then."
She giggles, rolling onto her side to face him as well, the both of them mere inches from each other as she smiles back at him.
"Sweet." She says contentedly. "Because I think I like sex with you better than firing a RYNO."
"Good to know." He says amusedly, sidling up right up to her as he uses his free arm to wrap it around her, pulling her in tight against him, which she doesn't protest against one bit. "Mmm… You're warm, too. I like it."
"Me too." She replies ,wrapping an arm around him as well, shamelessly burying her face in the white fur of his chest. "You make a good pillow."
"You too." He says with a smile as he rests his chin on the top of her head, gently stroking her back, savoring the feeling of her naked body pressed against his, and how warm she was, and how soft her bare fur felt up against his, never realizing how much he loved snuggling until this moment, quietly humming happily as he closes his eyes in bliss.
However, after a minute or two of their snuggling, he hears Julie softly speak up from his chest, breaking away a bit to look back up at him.
"You know… Did you… Really mean it when you said that just now, though?" She asks sheepishly, him feeling her hand nervously tighten onto his.
"Said what?" He asks, furrowing his brows. "The thing about you being a good pillow? Because yes."
"No, not that." She says, shaking her head. "About… You saying you love me." She replies coyly. "Was that, like, just a thing you said in the heat of the moment or…"
She trails off, looking away bashfully, making Mags gives a soft chuckle, not used to seeing her so quiet and nervous, but loving this side of her as he lets go of her hand to instead rest it on her cheek, making her look back at him as he gives her a soft, warm smile.
"I mean it. I really do." He states contentedly, looking right into her eyes. "I love you, Julie. I honestly can't imagine my life without you, whether you're my girlfriend or best friend, I mean it."
She doesn't speak for a few solid seconds, instead returning a dumbstruck look, making him think for a moment that he broke her somehow, but his fears are assuaged as she then grins like an idiot, placing a hand over his on her cheek while squeezing it.
"I love you, too, Mags. I'm glad you're a part of my life, too." She states with pure joy. "I want to keep you with me forever."
She then leans in, bringing her face up to his, and Mags follows suit, closing his eyes as they begin to kiss once more, holding each other as they laid there in bed, absolutely thrilled and excited to begin living their lives with the close friend they can now call a partner.
