Chapter 1: Welcome to my world, assholes
A/N: I know I shouldn't be doing this when I have way too many stories that I'm working on at the same time, but I was going through my library and saw the first story that I ever wrote, and I just wanted to die. Man was that story super broken and Mary-Sueish.
I wanted to delete that story and pretend it never existed, but I know a few people enjoyed it so instead I'm going the Final Fantasy route and giving it a remake!
May I introduce you all to the KUA remake! Expect a better fleshed out story with much fleshed-out characters. Sadly, Mikomi will not be in this story as I feel that with a new story, we need a new character. Hopefully you'll like the protagonist who will be taking her place.
So, without further ado, let's get on with the story!
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or Final Fantasy. I just own my characters.
Enjoy!

Kushina knew she was running out of time. The nine tailed fox tried to stop Minato from sealing him inside of their newborn son, Naruto.
In the ultimate sacrifice that a parent could make both Minato and herself threw their bodies in front of the beast, stopping him from killing their son.
With Nine tails subdued, they could seal him inside Naruto and save the village.
Tears flowed down Kushina's face as she looked at her son. She had just brought him into this world only for her to leave it. Life was such a cruel, terrible joke. She couldn't protect him from the dangers of the world or teach him how to be a better person as he grew up.
He would have to learn that on his own.
Well, maybe not.
Looking at the body sleeping next to Naruto, she smiled weakly. The little girl had a hand wrapped around her baby brother, oblivious to the danger in front of them. Even in sleep she was fulfilling her duty as an older sister.
"Rina" Kushina said quietly.
"Mama and daddy can't be with you for very long. Life is going to be tough and scary from now on but you have to be strong. You have to be there for Naruto. It's going to be hard for him growing up, so you have to be there to protect him like we protected you. Be the best sister that anyone has ever seen. Love him the same way that we loved you"
More tears fell down her face as she felt her body grow numb. She wasn't ready for this. She didn't want to leave her children.
"I'm sorry I can't be there to watch you grow up to be the amazing woman that I know you'll be. Always remember that no matter what happens, your mom and dad love you with all their hearts and we'll always watch over you"
When the nine tails was sealed away, she finally closed her eyes. She could rest in peace now, knowing that her children would have each other in life.
She knew one day they were going to grow up to become strong, noble, respectable shinobi that the village was going to love.

13 years later
Hacking up a wad of spit, Rina wiped her mouth with the back of her hand as she ruffled her bed head. Stepping out of the bathroom, she trotted over to her brother's room and banged on the door.
"It 8 A.M. shit stain, wake up!" she hollered.
When she heard Naruto grumble, she walked down the hallway and started putting her clothes on as she made her way to the kitchen. Checking her reflection in the mirror, she decided her hair didn't look too bad and let it look a little messy.
She opened the fridge to see what they could have for breakfast and saw that they really didn't have anything to eat.
"Instant ramen again I guess"
She went over to the pantry and pulled out the cupped noodles before going to the stove to heat up the water.
If Kushina was hoping that her daughter would grow up to become a flourishing beautiful flower, she was sadly, sadly mistaken. Instead, she turned into an overgrown weed that would not die no matter how much weed killer you sprayed it with.
Marina or Rina as she liked to be called had it rough. Her parents died the night she became a big sister. Her brother became a living cannister for a demon that almost wiped her village off the map. Everyone she knew turned their backs on her and acted like she was parasite because of who her brother was. And she pretty much had to raise her brother on her own because no one would step up and take care of two orphaned children.
But hey, some had it worse right?
Rina didn't complain about it though. She knew it wasn't her brother's fault that her life got turned upside down. If anything, he had it worse than she did. He was hated for being born and grew up his whole life having everyone in the village wish he was dead.
He endured a life no child should have to go through, and he did it with a smile on his face.
Rina promised her mother that she would be there for her brother, and she would not break that promise. If the village wanted to be assholes, she had no problem being an asshole right back at them.
Naruto finally made it into the kitchen with a yawn.
"Why do you have to be such a bitch in the morning?" he said.
"Because if I have to suffer so, do you" Rina replied.
She brought the steaming cups of ramen to the table.
"Eat up. I made your favorite" she joked.
Naruto perked up when he saw his favorite food. Taking his seat, he was all giddy as he stuck his chopsticks into the cup.
Rina had a small smirk on her face as she watched her brother eat. If he could be happy by just the little things in life, then she was doing her job right.
After they finished breakfast, they left their apartment to start their day. As they passed their landlords door, the old hag opened it up life she was waiting for them.
"Uzumaki, you're a month behind rent!"
Rina scowled and gave her landlord a nasty glare.
"You should be paying me for living in this dump" she retorted.
The landlord waved her cane at her.
"Keep it up, girlie and you'll both be out on the streets!"
Rina just flipped her off as she walked away.
"Least the streets are a lot cleaner than this shithole"
She knew the landlord wouldn't kick them out. One because they were one of the few tenants who actually wanted to live in this building. And most importantly the Hokage would have this place demolished if he found out someone kicked them out again.
Despite everyone in the village hating both her and Naruto, the Hokage did what he could to keep them safe. That's one of the reasons why she hadn't set this whole place up in flames yet.
The two siblings walked down the streets. As they did, they could hear people whisper about them. Some scowled when they saw Naruto. They all thought that this child killed so many people and nearly destroyed a village. Rina wanted to laugh. As if this kid could break anything.
One stupid shop owner got ballsy and threw something at Naruto. Before it could hit the boy Rina caught it. The owner paled when he saw the nasty glare Rina gave him. Next thing he knew, he was pressed up against the wall as she held him by the throat.
"Next time you wanna throw something at my brother, I'm chopping your hand off" she threatened.
She got close to his ear and whispered quietly.
"But then again, you're not going to live long to do that again"
The owner screamed and ran away from her. Rina turned around and looked at everyone nearby. When she raised an eyebrow, they panicked and quickly went back to what they were doing.
Rina went back to Naruto. The poor boy looked hurt and angry that people still treated him like garbage. Grabbing the boy's chin, he made her look up at him.
"Don't ever let them get to you, Naruto. When they see you upset it means that they're getting into your head and will just get worse. Never give them that satisfaction"
Naruto bit his lip but nodded. The world could turn its back on him, but his sister would always turn her back on the world in retaliation.

Reaching training ground 3, Rina saw Naruto's teammates waiting for him.
"Finally, you showed up" Sakura said.
"See you had to have your sister bring you over" Sasuke added.
Rina narrowed her eyes at the two kids. She had...mixed feelings about Naruto's teammates. Sakura was pretty much a girlie girl. She cared about her looks and made it no secret she had a crush on Sasuke. She was smart but really lacked in the fighting department. Lord knows why she wanted to be a ninja. As for Sasuke, she hated the kid. Yeah, his whole family was killed by his brother, but shinobi were always getting killed by someone. It was obvious he wanted to become a ninja so he could kill his brother as revenge. Killing his brother wasn't going to bring his clan back to life.
Naruto just glared at Sasuke as he stomped over to them.
"Least I'm not late like Kakashi-Sensei" he barked.
Sasuke just rolled his eyes and muttered idiot under his breath. That set Naruto off and he started bickering with the Uchiha.
Rina just turned around and walked away. As much as would have loved to hit her brother's teammate, she had to deal with her own teammates.
/
Rina wouldn't call her teammates her friends, but she did consider them as comrades. They were the very few people in the village that didn't treat her brother like garbage, so they were ok in her book.
They were...interesting to say the least. And by interesting you would wonder how they haven't been arrested or killed yet.
Teppei Hyuga was from the Hyuga Clan. Being from such a renowned family would mean he was a serious proper ninja, right? Hell no. He was the exact opposite. While the Hyuga's where reserved and set in the old ways, Teppei was loud and into the modern. He was a super smart individual who liked to invent new weapons and had a knack of hacking into things that he wasn't supposed to.
He was one of those individuals who was drawn to technology and thought it would help improve the ways of being a ninja rather than ruining it.
And one other thing about him was:
"Hey, Rina. Nice to see you're wearing that lacy red underwear today. Very hot"
He was a grade A pervert. Instead of using his Byakugan for battle, he liked to use it to spy on women in the bathhouses. If God gave him this gift, why would he let it go to waste, he would say.
The woman next to him scowled and took her glove off and touched his arm. Within seconds Teppei jumped and waved his arm to get rid of the burning feeling.
Smirking in satisfaction, the woman put her glove back on and watched as her teammate suffered.
"It's too early in the morning for you to be a creep"
Chise Asashi was an enigma. She was a medic of their team and could heal any sort of injury. And yet if she touched you, she could cause serious harm. Anytime her skin made contact with anything it would cause the surface to burn. She had to wear special gloves all the time so she wouldn't harm anyone while she healed them. Rina and Teppei didn't know how she was able to do her job, but they learned a long time ago that if they asked, she would force them to test out medicine she created.
She was a quiet person who kept most to herself. There was a lot about her that neither of her teammates knew even after being together for so many years.
The village gave them the unofficial title of 'Team Misfit'. They were the oddballs that didn't fit in with all the other teams, so the elders decided to just put these 'leftovers' together. They were odd but they always got the job done.
Rina flopped down on the park bench.
"Any word if Sensei is back yet?"
"She's still on that mission in Kira so she probably won't be back for another week" Chise said.
"I pity the bastards that have to meet that old hag" Teppei cackled.
They were Chunin so while they worked as a group, they didn't need to have their teacher with them on missions.
There were times where Rina could have moved up to become a Jonin, but she had no desire to. If she took that position, that meant she would have to go on dangerous missions, maybe be gone for months at a time. There was no way she was going to do that to her brother. Nope being a Chunin was fine. The pay was decent so why bother rocking the boat?
"So, what kind of missions do we have lined up? My rent is due, so I'll take just about anything at this point" Rina said.
"I didn't really see anything on the mission board earlier. Just some basic things around the village like picking up trash and finding someone's cat" Chise said.
"So, in other words, there's nothing" Teppei corrected.
"Pretty much, yeah"
Rina groaned in annoyance.
"That's just great. I have to live in a shoebox apartment that no one wants to live in and now I have to resort to beginner missions just to pay rent"
"You should have taken up that prostitution job like I suggested. I would have paid for you" Teppei said as he wiggled his eyebrows.
Rina punched him in the face and smirked when he fell to the ground.
"Try seeing my underwear through a black eye, shithead"
Chise sighed. She should have just stayed home and experimented on her medicines.
"I did see one other mission, but it seems like no one wants it due to where it's located" she said.
"If it pays big, I won't complain about the travel" Rina said.
She didn't want to leave Naruto for long, but she really had no choice if she wanted to keep a roof over her head.
"How far are we talking, like Wind Village far?" Teppei asked.
Chise shook her head.
"Farther as in other side of the world far…no nin land"
Rina and Teppei frowned. No nin land was a term that Shinobi used for the countries that didn't have ninja. They thought the ninja world was a thing of the past and relied on more modern ways of getting things done. Shinobi didn't like venturing to that side of the world because their weapons were far more advanced than theirs.
But if that was the only mission available at this time, Rina didn't have much of choice.
"How much is it paying?" she sighed.
Teppei looked at her as if she grew a second head.
"Are you crazy?! We can't travel there! They think we're Neanderthals and they have advanced weapons! They could kill us for just stepping onto their territory!"
"Think of this as a chance to get ideas for your weapons, Teppei. Unless you want to spend the day collecting garbage" Rina said.
Teppei made a face and grumbled 'fine' under his breath.
"The pay should cover three months' worth of rent if we succeed" Chise said.
"As to what the mission entails, we have to see Lord Third for that"
"It's that serious, huh?"
"It would seem so if it means traveling to an area where Ninja aren't needed" Chise pointed out.
Rina suddenly stood up and stretched.
"Fuck it. Let's get this over with and see the old man"
Chise and Teppei groaned and reluctantly followed her.
This was not a great way to start their day, that's for damn sure.

A/N: And we're off! It was kind of a short chapter, but this was mostly about introducing the characters to the story. Hope you guys will get to like Rina as the story progresses.
Just what kind of mission are they about to take that requires them to go to the other side of the world? And advanced area no less.
Please review and tell me what you think!
Take care!
