Afterlife?

Tosh was dead. She knew she was dead. She had been murdered by Jack's brother just after the love of her life had walked away from her. Yes, he was also technically dead but then even that hadn't stopped Owen. Not really. She sighed heavily as she looked around the Hub. So much had changed since she had died. Gwen was still there. Ianto and Jack were married and then there were the newer members of the team - Rhys, Donna and Martha. Although Martha seemed to be spending as much time with UNIT just as she did with Torchwood. Sighing as she walked through the Hub she wondered why she had come back.

"Tosh?" She looked over to see Gwen walking down the steps towards her. "You ok?"

"Still dead."

"I know." Gwen sighed. "You know, I never believed in ghosts. Not until."

"I died in front of you and then turned up again." Tosh bit her lip. "Neither did I."

"Jack and Ianto are off chasing some Weavel. Donna has an appointment." Gwen explained. "If you want to talk."

"I'm fine." Tosh looked on the verge of tears. "Suzi didn't get to be a ghost."

"That we can see, anyway."

"Neither did Owen."

Gwen smiled sadly. "I know, but he did get a bit Zombified for a while."

Tosh nodded. "Why? Why did the Risen Mitten work on them, why wouldn't it do that to me? Why didn't you even try?"

Gwen sighed heavily. Her heart broke for her friend. Tosh had died in her arms. She knew there would always be a part of her that wondered the same thing. They knew the Risen Mitten was not to be used on everyone, she knew there was a time when no one died. Now she wondered what she could tell her friend.

"To be honest, Tosh."

"Please be honest."

"I froze. I didn't know what to do. You were slipping away, and I didn't know what to do." Gwen felt her eyes fill with tears. "I think Jack was just heartbroken. You know how much he loves you."

Tosh nodded. She remembered her death vividly. The whole day had been imprinted on her mind for the rest of her afterlife. She looked out over the Hub as she tried to push the memory away. "Gwen?"

"Yeah?"

"What now?" She turned to her friend. "I can't leave the Hub. I am a ghost. I tried to walk out of the front door, and I can't. I just can't get through. Or the rear entrance."

"I suppose, this is where you died?"

Tosh nodded. "Yeah. But what now?"
