Carlisle had been keeping an eye on both Jasper and Emmett, he had been rather surprised to find out his most composed son had decided to get drunk.
Still .
He watched them to make sure neither of them would do something stupid that could jeopardize their secret.
Emmett so far had been doing nothing but counting leaves and climbing trees. Hanging from the branches like a monkey and flirting with Rosalie at random intervals.
Jasper on the other hand was sitting on the railing making flower crowns. Would curse under his breath when a stem broke and throw flowers whenever Alice walked below.
And then he ran out of flowers.
That's when he decided to put them on a tight scenario as he stood on the railing and while his balance was perfect (not that a fall from there would harm him to begin with) that didn't meant the remaining humans wouldn't freak out if he decided to jump.
But he didn't jump.
All he did was grab onto the wall and God knows how he did it but before Carlisle knew it Jasper was standing on the house's roof. Walking on the edge with his arms extended at his sides. Kind of reminded him of the walk cops would make potential drunk drivers make. Walk in a straight line.
He then proceeded to rid himself of his suit jacket and throw it on the floor quite aggressively before disappearing somewhere on the roof.
For a moment Carlisle lost sight of him.
And with the loss of sight of him he came to the realization that Emmett was also missing.
Before he could panic he saw them. Together .
Emmett had tied his tie on his head. Suit jacket tied around his face almost as if to mimic a mask. Sleeves pulled up.
And he had Jasper on his back.
Jasper who had somehow, in less than a minute of Carlisle having lost sight of him, managed to get rid of his pants.
Right on top of the roof where anyone could see them.
-Hold on tight spidermonkey.- Carlisle heard Emmett slur out in a horrible attempt at mimicking Edward's voice.
Oh my God.
-Spidermonkey? Jeez Eddie, when was the last time ya flirted with someone?- And there was Jasper attempting and failing at mimicking Bella as Emmett ran around in circles over and over again with his arms outstretched as if he was some kind of airplane.
-Never! I have been a virgin since before Wi-Fi was a thing! I'm a prude and I will forever be so! Oh spidermonkey please do give me another tear for me to treasure forever and ever!
Jesus .
Carlisle was quick to make sure no one was looking before getting to the roof in a blink. Coming to stand before Emmett in the act who spooked at his apparition and tripped.
Landing right on his face with a shriek. Arms stretched at his sides like a starfish.
Jasper just sat there for a moment with a frown plastered on his face before bursting out into a fit of laughter.
The atmosphere around him tickled but Carlisle couldn't quite process that when he was hearing a sound he had never, not even once, heard.
Jasper. Laughing.
He fell on his side holding his stomach as he laughed his life out.
Then Emmett joined.
God .
Carlisle sighed as he pulled himself out of his initial shock and after looking around for a moment he spotted Jasper's pants. He went over to grab them and as he turned around Emmett and Jasper had gone from laughing to wrestling each other.
He tried to separate them so he could force Jasper back into his pants but Emmett kept making it impossible.
Thus Carlisle walked over to the roof and spotted Rosalie and Alice.
-Girls. I think it's time for the boys to retire for the night.- He called fully aware that they would be able to hear him.
Rosalie gave him an annoyed look.
And still both of them were up on the roof soon enough to see Jasper giving Emmett a headlock while muttering in an odd mix of Spanish and English about missing goats.
And Emmett answering as if he totally knew what Jasper was talking about.
Alice pulled her phone out, and without missing a beat or even changing her neutral expression, she took a picture.
-Send it to me.- Rosalie asked sounding quite amused with the situation. Carlisle cleared his throat in disapproval despite the fact that part of him found it amusing too.
-Jazz darling, do please stop trying to kill Emmett. I assure you he hasn't stolen any goats.- Alice promised biting back a smile.
-At least not from you.- Rosalie added. While the sight of her brother in underwear would haunt her for quite a while she had to admit that seeing him so out of it was hilarious.
Jasper scrunched up his nose in distaste as wariness obliterated the air.
For the looks of it a drunk empath meant his emotions would be all over the place.
-Ya promise?- He questioned narrowing his eyes.
-Yes. I promise.- Alice told raising her hand as if making an important pact of truth in a court.
That seemed to be enough for Jasper released Emmett and Alice was quick to take the pants Carlisle handed her before going over to Jasper and starting to wrestle him back into his pants.
Rosalie took her chance to grab Emmett and shove him off the roof after making sure no human was at sight. That before proceeding to drag him inside the house ignoring Emmett's wails about her attempted homicide and how she could have ruined his beautiful beautiful face.
Alice was still fighting Jasper.
She even smacked his hand when he tugged at the waistband of his underwear.
-Jasper Whitlock, you are putting these pants on or so God help me.
Dismay washed over the place.
-But s' hot here.- Came Jasper's protest as he tugged at his shirt this time. Alice held his hands still.
His words though caught Carlisle's attention. Hot? That shouldn't be possible, vampires were unaffected by temperatures.
Thus with Alice's silent permission he brought his hand up to press it against Jasper's forehead.
And as expected, he didn't feel warm.
But Jasper looked so genuinely uncomfortable, Carlisle could feel it on his own skin through his gift, that he found himself pressing the back of his hand against his cheek too. Not warm . He also touched his neck and while he didn't got warmness what he did got for that was a low growl and a warning that rippled the air like a weighted mantle of needles as he swatted his hand away quite aggressively.
Carlisle of course didn't paid it mind.
-Are you feeling anything else?
-Can ah drink one of the humans? Ah promise ah won' kill 'em.- Jasper asked instead. Carlisle grabbed his arms on reflex.
-No. You are not turning anyone here, you heard me young man?- Carlisle told sternly, Jasper frowned at that.
-But I cain't-
-I will take him inside now.- Alice was quick to cut off. Grabbing Jasper and pulling him with her despite this one's persistent protests.
Carlisle watched them leave with a frown.
Weird.
~~~~~~~~~
Jasper woke up to a headache and under the bed.
He groaned as he uncurled from his position. He felt nauseous and rather disoriented. What the hell had happened?
A giggle from above made him frown for a moment before recognizing the emotional signature and the familiar floral scent.
-Regretting that champagne aren't we?- Came Alice's voice as she peeked under the bed. He glared at her.
As far as Alice was aware the blood in his veins wouldn't give him the hangover an average human would get but it wouldn't be pleasing either.
When she brought him in last night he had finished tearing his clothes off before climbing all over the place. Had refused to get down from the ceiling for over half an hour before proceeding to fall from it. He had crawled under the bed at some point after claiming the moonlight and the heat were killing him.
-Where are my clothes?- Jasper couldn't help but ask as he crawled out from under the bed and noticed himself to be naked.
-You took them off. Something about how hot it was, I thought you couldn't feel the weather.- Alice told curiously.
-I can't, I jus'... I feel hot when I drink alcohol, 'm not sure why.- He mumbled sitting up and biting his tongue as the wave of dizziness hit him. His fingers gripping his head out of reflex. Alice was on the floor at his side in a second.
-Are you okay?
-I feel nauseous. That must be it.- Jasper told turning to look at her and pulling her onto his lap, arms around her waist as his lips came to rest on her cheek in a fluttering kiss.
Alice hummed and brought her arms around his neck. Kissing his throat before resting her head on his shoulder.
-How was the cake?- Alice asked, curious. She had made sure to find the best cake for Edward and Bella's wedding. For even if she nor even Edward could taste it she wanted it all to be perfect.
-It was good. Vanilla doesn't taste as disgustingly sweet as I thought it would.- Jasper conceded, his words got Alice pulling back enough to look at him with confusion plastered on her face.
-You thought the cake would taste bad? Why did you taste it then?
Jasper smiled at that and brought her closer to him. Hand resting on her cheek.
-Because my darlin' wife worked really hard on this weddin', she made sure everythin' was perfect, even the cake, and since she couldn't get to taste it I thought I should give it a try instead.- He told caressing her cheek softly.
Alice smiled at that. It were things like that that made her love him even more. She was highly aware that he wasn't a particular fan of sweet things unless it were ice creams whose flavors fell on the berries' category.
So to hear he had gone and eaten cake for her... It was a sweet thing to do.
-Thanks then.- She smiled in amusement before pulling him into a kiss.- You should get dressed. Emmett wants to go hunting.- Alice told, chuckling at the groan that that got from her husband. He hoisted her up as he got up, her legs coming to wrap around his waist.
-Huntin' my foot, he just wants to drag me through the mud again, I should kick his ass.
-You say that as if you didn't actually enjoy getting your clothes all filthy.- Alice couldn't help but tell as Jasper released her on the bed. He smirked at her at those words, knowing full well Alice was right. He planted a kiss on her neck.
-You're right.- He conceded before leaning back to meet her gaze.- Can you do me a favor?
-Of course.- Alice was quick to agree touching face.
-Tell him I'm not going, I don't really feel like huntin' right now. I can already tell how horrible the sun's gonna be today. I would rather not be outside and much less to drink some animal.
-Is the hangover really that bad?- She asked worriedly, her concern dragging across his skin.
-No, not really, I just hate the idea of huntin' when I'm feelin' so nauseous. And the idea of light when my head aches.- He assured.
Alice hummed, touching his face and tracing the scars on his cheek for a moment.
-You will go hunting tonight, right?
He made a face at that. He didn't want to leave the bed nor even the room today.
-Tomorrow?- He tried to negotiate instead. Alice frowned.
-First thing in the morning before sunrise?
-Yes. First thing in the mornin'.- He conceded with a sigh. Alice smiled and her happiness washed over him.
-Fine then. I will tell him.
-Thanks.- He gave her a peck before disappearing into the bathroom. Alice sighed. She didn't like when he skipped hunting but she also knew that forcing him to feed when he wasn't feeling well would do more damage than good.
