Alice! Jasper!

The stench of death was in the air. Of blood and venom.

Edward had bitten Bella.

Bella who had died during childbirth.

Jasper could hear the wolves running across the forest and their panting. He could feel their anger and their fear. Nervous. Reluctant. Cautious. Hesitant. Determined. Ravenous.

We are outnumbered.

An entire pack of shifters wasn't something Jasper had ever seen himself fighting against.

Their wrath and determination to get to the child was thick in the air. Hot. Red. Growls and snarls reigned in the forest as the fight unleashed between vampires and shifters. Thunder reverberating across the forest with each collision.

It was taxing and for once he was glad to release his strength full on against something after so long. He would protect his family with his life.

His thirst was still blazing and while The Major had fed a while ago it wasn't much.

But enough to return him part of his abnormal strength.

The others who had left hunting appeared and joined the fight. He could feel his skin burning as the emotions in the air started becoming harder to tell apart from his own. Too much anger. Too much bloodlust. Violence.

And then as he landed on a branch he heard Alice's screams and his head wiped around to see his wife struggling to keep a wolf from biting her face off.

That's when The Major and The God Of War were obliterated into a sea of blinding heat and red. Rage slicing their skin apart and bones cracking in a worthless attempt to shift.

A guttural roar ripped out of their throat as one thing and one thing alone seized their soul.

Protect their mate.

The second they landed on the ground the second they lunged for the wolf with a vicious snarl. Slamming against its side without restraint and sending it crashing to the ground as far from their mate as possible.

The wolf got up and launched back at them with a feral snarl. They dodged the attack before jumping on the wolf's back and grabbing onto it by lodging their claws into its ribs, they mercilessly sank their fangs onto its back and bit down with unforgiving force, breaking muscle and skin in the process. The venom releasing from their fangs making the wolf yelp loudly and twist in their hold, desperated to break free.

Their gift lashed out and pierced its emotional signature like parasites of acid filled with such poisonous horror the wolf was brought down with cries of absolute hysteria, like the wounded animal it was.

Another wolf tackled them off the wolf's back and brought them down against the ground with a forceful impact. The wolf lunged for a bite but they were faster as they spun themselves around and fred themselves with enough force to be allowed the momentum to slam their arm against the wolf's muzzle. A few fangs flew into the air with a resounding crack.

The stench of dog and blood in the air was doing things to their senses. Filling them with an even more overwhelming heat until venom was dripping from their mouth.

They kept themselves upright and as intimidating as when they were on the South. When The Major didn't exist without The God Of War and The God Of War didn't exist without The Major.

When their existence was one and one alone.

When their blood and instincts screamed for nothing but death and destruction. Bring them all down to make them feel the torture their boss brought upon them. Make them tremble under their scent and presence. No one was bigger and stronger than them. Bring the world down to their feet and teach them who was on top of the animal chain.

Their pain fed their anger and their anger brought happiness to the leader. Happiness to the leader meant no pain.

And thus they unleashed the darkness within. The coldness. The screams from the South. The death from the newborns. The wails from the innocents. The fear. The pain. The desperation. The weakness.

All of it for the dogs to suffocate under. To kneel before them if they wanted to keep up living for another while.

A guttural growl crawled up from the depths of their throat bathed in nothing but molten fury, dark, cold, unforgiving. They were the South's terror and a couple of puppies wouldn't lay their filthy paws on them and much less their mate.

The wolves as expected began backing off with ears flattening down and pathetic whines of fear, tails between their legs, without a doubt sensing the danger that they actually were in and the fact that they were a dominant monster and definitely not someone to piss off any further.

They made sure to crush the pack down with the South's emotions they had collected for decades, collected before they were even born, all as they came to stand before their family. They suffocated the wolves in the depths of the dark and cold ocean. Some of the wolves lowering on the ground whimpering and whining pathetically under the weight of both their presence and attack.

The mutt siblings didn't left the Cullens' side but still lowered to the ground, they didn't care, part of them didn't register them as a current threat.

The Alpha mutt on the other side rather than back off growled at them. Challenging them with righteous fury despite the fear and confusion that was oozing off him.

But they didn't back off.

They stepped forward, standing their ground despite the difference in size, they doubled the emotions from the damned and slammed them harder against the Alpha. Growling from the depths of their throat as venom kept dripping from their mouth and they took another step forward forcing the Alpha to take a step back. They were itching to attack him. Itching for the black wolf to make a move.

Because how dare these filthy mutts attack their Alice? How dare they attack their mate?

They wanted to tear them all apart and make them beg for death. Rip their throats off and crush them to pieces. He wanted to see their blood run cold and to make them regret having ever set foot into their territory.

The black wolf was growling at them but they could feel his fear. Could feel the hesitation and see the flattened ears. The confusion at being faced with something that went past what a vampire should be. They had been alive way longer than this mutt and had fought and won many battles, even this dog could see how he was no match for them. Not in strength and certainly not in skill.

Because they knew themselves to be more than capable of taking the Alpha down along with the rest of the pack. They wanted to take them down but as they took a step forward the other dog appeared.

The dog faced the black wolf. Which meant the South's terror's attention fell solely and completely on their mate, and thus they stepped back to guard her, arms wrapping around her, they could feel the anxiety, the surprise and the anger in the air as the mind reader revealed the dog to have imprinted on the baby.

It's their most absolute rule.

Of course it was.

Enemies or not shifters had a strict code to not kill imprints because it was understood to be the most painful and cruel thing to do against one of their own.

Giving that mercy made them less of a monster at their own eyes.

In the heat of the fight no one had had time to react to Jasper, all they had known was that his presence had helped to make the wolves back off and leave Sam as the only possible threat.

Now that things had calmed down and there was no imminent death against their newest family member the Cullens couldn't help but marvel at how horrifyingly intimidating had Jasper (or had it been the alter?) been, the sounds that came out of him seemed crawled out of Hell and how him alone had managed to make the entire pack back off and submit in fear.

He even made Sam back off.

Even despite the situation Carlisle hadn't been able to stop himself from feeling the flicker of pride at his son's control. Because considering the situation he had feared Jasper would have ended up killing one of the wolves, specifically the one who attacked Alice.

But he hadn't.

He did broke a few bones from the wolves and tore skin from the one who attacked Alice. Yes. But no one was killed.

He now sat at the porch giving his back to the house and with Alice sitting on his lap. Her arms and legs around him. She had forced him to back off to the porch earlier and managed to get him sitting down despite his initial growling and hissing. All so as to keep him from chasing after the wolves.

The sight now seemed almost calm if it wasn't for the fact that Carlisle could see him shaking. Could feel the bloodlust and anger prickling at his skin from his wild gift. The light growls that would rose whenever a sound came from the forest.

Hear Alice's persistent shushing and gentle words. As if calming down a rabid animal.

Seth, Leah and Jacob had left in order to speak with the pack, so right now the house was extremely quiet.

The anger and bloodlust oozing off Jasper earlier had been unnerving to say the least, tethering over the edge of a thirst for death Carlisle had never felt in his life.

If Alice hadn't stopped him... Carlisle knew he would have killed the wolves.

And while he knew it had been emotions brought out due such stressing situation and his mate having been put in such dangerous situation he couldn't help but feel concerned.

Because that level of emotions... How could his most peaceful son wield such emotions? Such rage. Such hatred. Such power.

He knew vampires from the South were built different. Knew how violent his background had been.

But he never expected him to be able to bring an entire pack of shifters to the ground. Having something as that of their natural enemies submitting to him like that. Even their Alpha.

How did he never notice that he had such powerful vampire under his roof? How was he that powerful? Was it because he was an empath? Was his gift that powerful? Even to this day Carlisle wasn't quite sure of the extent of Jasper's gift. He rarely used it as it was but moments like these made him wonder if Jasper's gift was more powerful than he let on.

Right now the only reason he looked so subdued was because Alice was keeping him down.

Or this could very well be the reason why Maria had looked for him.

The God Of War.

The Major's favorite.

He had thought him to be the brain over the victories.

Now he had very clear that he could be just as dangerous as The Major may had been.

And still there he was. Yielding to Alice.

It sometimes amazed Carlisle the kind of power sweet little Alice held over Jasper when he got so out of control. How with one single touch she was able to calm him down no matter how out of it he was. It was nothing but proof of how deep their bond ran.

~~~~~~~~~
Alice began humming at some point as her fingers carded through Jasper's hair. His head resting on her shoulder. He was still tense and his grip on her would tighten from time to time. A light growl leaving him whenever a sound came from the forest.
At least he had lost the fangs and claws and for the looks of it no one had noticed them during the heat of the battle. She could feel his anger prickling at her skin the same as she could feel his bloodlust and anxiousness. Wariness. Alert. It would take a while before he, they , came out of it.
She knew this for the simple fact that when Jasper and The Major got stuck fronting at the same time anything could set them off. And considering what had gotten them in this situation... It would be safer if she were to keep them like this for a while.
Still.
In all the time she spent watching them in her visions before meeting them up until now she had never seen them as furious and brutal as tonight. Yeah. She had seen them lose it twice before meeting the Cullens due her safety being compromised but it never was as intense as today.
She sat there for a while and while she wished to help with Bella she decided to leave it to Rosalie and Esme for right now her husband needed her more. At some point she felt them stop shaking altogether and the needles from his gift on her skin disappeared. Their growling coming to an end. Her fingers never stopped carding through their hair.
She knew they had calmed down completely the moment they didn't try to attack the second the smell of dog came from the forest.
-Let's go hunting.- She told when she felt them tense and growl in warning as Jacob came closer to the house.
Alice got up but made sure to keep a hold of their hands as she did so.
-Come on.- Alice coaxed pulling them with her as she began descending the stairs. Their piercing glare never leaving Jacob. Murderous intent rippling the air.- It's just Jacob, Seth and Leah, they are not dangerous.- She added the other two names as she caught their scents too.
She felt relief when she managed to get them to follow her.
One catastrophe avoided.
~~~~~~~~~

Jacob watched the little freak leave with him . The quiet creeper. He would never admit it but that blond bastard gave him nightmares. He was the one who managed to cause actual harm to Sam's pack; Paul and Collin, Paul lost two teeth which would regrow at some point and his jaw was sore, Collin, fingers had been dug at his sides and he had also gotten bitten which had left him sobbing in pain.

Though that may have had to do also with that freaky stunt the creep had pulled, something about the air growing so dangerous their instincts had screamed for them to submit or run, or both . Jacob was aware that some of the leeches had freaky powers like Edward with the mind reading bullshit and Alice with the visions of the future.

He understood what Quil had meant when he felt a shiver run down his spine as the air grew sharp and dangerous. It made sweat trickle down his temple and his heartbeat accelerate. That glare settling upon him was dark and cold. It made him want to look down and step back. Danger .

But the little freak pulled the creep with her.

It's just Jacob, Seth and Leah, they are not dangerous.

She said that as if she wasn't holding the hand of a dude who looked a second away from slaughtering those around him.

And it disturbed him with the ease she pulled him with her and how he didn't even attempt to fight her.

Maybe she was more dangerous than he was.

~~~~~~~~~
Leah could be a lot of things but she would never be able to cause actual damage to Collin. He was 13 for fucks sake and Sam had been an absolute idiot when he thought it would be a bright idea to take the younger ones to a fight against these vampires. Where he was. The blond creep who smelt wrong and oozed danger.
Hell, he was the one who made sure that army of newborns wouldn't kill them, who said he wouldn't be able to fight them if he wanted to?
And she had been right. He almost killed Collin and it would have been no one's fault but Sam's. The kid had been reckless and stupid by going after Alice, yeah, she looked weak and harmless and kind of the easiest one to take down from the Cullens.
But her mate looked and smelt like death incarnated. Attacking her would be like signing up for death at the hands of the blond creep.
He got the pack to back down and there was that weird sensation he put in the air... Leah was sure that if he had wanted he could have killed them all.
It unnerved her to hear him growling. His movements as Alice pulled him with her. His glare. How his scent felt stronger than earlier.
Something about him wasn't right.
~~~~~~~~~~

Seth liked the Cullens.

He didn't see the issue with the others' hatred and dislike towards them. Yeah. The cold ones were meant to be their enemies but the Cullens weren't bad. They fed on animal blood and they have never hurt anyone, even Bella getting turned was her choice, it wasn't as if they forced her to or bit her without her consent.

Dr. Cullen worked helping people and he had even been willing to put his life at risk to help Jacob when that newborn had crushed his ribs.

Mrs. Cullen was also so nice and kind. She would bring them food and drinks when they had been watching over Bella with Jacob, she had even offered them a guest room.

Emmett was also nice and hilarious to be around. Edward despite all seemed nice though kind of the dramatic type. Rosalie sort of scared him a bit and Alice... well she was also great to be around.

Jasper... He kind of scared him a bit too. There was something dangerous about him. He was the one whose eyes were never quite completely gold, they sometimes held silver freckles and other times they looked mildly orange, dark gold, black, dark void.

But he had taught them how to fight. Had been patient and strict when doing so. And he had let Alice train with him.

Seth wasn't a genius but he was pretty sure that someone like him allowing his mate to train unsupervised with who was suppose to be on his enemy side meant something important. And he was the only one who wouldn't get glared at.

Not to be arrogant but Seth was sure that the blond vampire trusted him more than he trusted any other shifter.

How he had fought tonight was amazing and despite how suffocating and near overwhelming the air had been. What he had done to Collin and Paul.

Part of him wondered if he would be willing to teach him how to fight. In human form this time.
