The Owl House: What if…? Collection.

Disclaimer: All of the stories in this collection are my attempts at various changes to The Owl House series and are in no way an attempt to copy the works of other fanfic writers. Any similarities are purely coincidence and unintentional. Also, I do not own The Owl House and make no profit of any kind for the stories I will be posting here.

Introduction

The moon rose over the horizon as night fell on the Boiling Isles. By the edge of the woods, near a cliff overlooking the Boiling Seas stood a white house made of bricks with a blue roof. A large, round, stained glass window was above the front door, which had a round owl-like face.

The frond door swung open, revealing a living room with two teenage girls seated on the couch. One was a human with tan skin and dark, somewhat messy hair in a short ponytail. A tiny scar was on her left eyebrow and she was dressed in a very colorful Hexside uniform. Her partner, whom she was spooning, was a witch with fair skin and her shoulder-length hair dyed a gorgeous shade of lavender. She was dressed in Hexside's Abomination Track uniform and was curled up on the couch beside the human, resting her head on the other girl's shoulder.

A few moments passed and the two continued to enjoy each other's company. But then the human girl gently tapped the young witch's shoulder with her hand. The witch stirred, but didn't open her eyes. Instead she snuggled closer to her partner, nuzzling her face against the human's shoulder.

"Just a few more minutes…." She murmured.

"We don't have a few minutes, hermosa." The human replied. "They're already here."

The witch's eyes snapped open, her face flushing completely pink. She sat upright, looking like she had just been caught doing something indecent. Her partner giggled, earning a dirty look from her as she tried to compose herself.

"Luz! You were supposed to let me know when it was at least fifteen minutes before they were supposed to arrive!"

"Sorry, Amity. I kinda lost track of time. I was too distracted by a sleeping cutie." Luz replied with a giggle. "Hey there everyone! Luz Noceda here."

"And I'm her awesome girlfriend, Amity Blight." Amity greeted with a slight bow. "We're here today to introduce you to a new collection of storylines."

"That's right! Luz said, hopping off of the couch. "Any devoted fan of a book, TV show, movie, etc. can go on and on about what's so great about them. But there's always some people out there who can look at those same great things and start wondering about them."

"The reasons they think about these things will vary." Amity continued. "It could regard something to do with a character, the settings, or an event within the story. But it always comes down to starting with the use of two little words: What if?"

"Boom! Title drop!" Luz exclaimed, pumping both of her fists up into the air.

Amity giggled, taking a moment to admire Luz. She wound up losing focus as she kept staring at her girlfriend, nearly forgetting what they were supposed to be doing. Luz cleared her throat and gestured to Amity to continue. It took Amity a couple seconds, but she recalled the task at hand and let out a short, nervous chuckle.

"As I was saying, there have been instances of these already. Ones like, what if Luz were a witch living in the human world?"

"Yeah or what if Belos was really my dad?" Luz added. "But those ones have already been done. This new collection will try to feature new ideas that could lead into fun and interesting stories. For example, 'What if Luz discovered a different glyph first?'"

"Or perhaps something like this one." Amity said, twirling her finger to change the sleeves and leggings of her uniform to light blue. 'What if Amity studied on the Illusion Track instead?'"

"Ooh, that is a good color on you, Sweet Potato!" Luz commented. "But I like the pink better."

With another twirl of her finger, Amity changed her uniform back. She was about to resume speaking, but a commotion sounded from outside at that very moment. Both she and Luz looked over to the door, hearing Hooty very loudly arguing with someone. Then the house-demon let out a shriek and the door slowly opened, a singed Hooty looking at them apologetically.

"I know you said no interruptions. But this scary girl is being very insistent."

"What scary girl?" Luz queried.

"That scary girl!" Hooty answered, nodding at someone just outside. "Um, come in I guess?"

The scary girl in question turned out to be Boscha. She stepped inside, glancing at Hooty as she passed him. Once she had cleared the doorway, Hooty slammed himself shut, leaving the self-invited guest alone with Luz and Amity. The couple both frowned at Boscha, Amity getting up to step between her and Luz.

"What do you want, Boscha?" She asked, not even trying to sound civil.

"The same thing you should want!" Boscha replied. "We need to put a stop to this craziness! You can't honestly want some random weirdo controlling your lives, do you?"

"Our lives aren't being controlled." Luz piped up. "What's happening is that we're getting to see alternate universes. Or as we like to call them back in the human realm, AUs."

Boscha stared blankly for a moment. "A… whats?" she asked, then turning her attention to Amity. "I need you to translate your human's weirdo talk into common for me."

Amity scowled at Boscha's choice of words. She struggled with the sudden urge to surprise Boscha with an uppercut from and abomination arm out of the floor. Sure, it would have been the easy way to handle her, but most likely not worth the trouble it would bring later on. She deeply inhaled through her nostrils and slowly exhaled through her lips a couple times to keep her temper in check. Knowing Boscha, she fully expected to have it tested again shortly.

"What my girlfriend is trying to say is that nothing is actually happening to us. It's just a bunch of stories about us. None of them are real. So it shouldn't bother you."

"It does bother me! A lot!" Boscha replied, wrapping her arms around herself. "I don't care if none of it is real. I don't like the idea of people reading stories about me ore worse… them talking about me because of what was in those stories!"

"Please Boscha, you're being ridiculous." Amity told her. "Even if that does happen, it's not like everything people will say will be negative."

"Yeah, maybe there will be a lot of good things!" Luz added. "Personally, I'm really interested in seeing all the differences with my adventures here on the island. Oh, and seeing stuff for Eda, King and all my other friends here in Bonesborough. I'm especially looking forward to seeing anything featuring my Sweet Potato as the protagonist."

"With your sweet what now?" Boscha asked in mild confusion, glancing at Luz before focusing back on Amity. "Is she talking about you?"

"As a matter of fact, yes she is." Amity replied.

"Of course you'd let her give you a weird pet name." Boscha scoffed.

"Boscha, would you please just leave already?!" Amity snapped. "We can't do anything to stop the author from doing this, so you're wasting your time if you think that we can."

"Not even just one of them?" Boscha asked, sounding a little bit desperate.

"Sorry, but we really can't do anything." Luz answered. "Why? What story is it that you don't want posted?"

Boscha hesitated. "It's… it's the one where I… it's when…"

She trailed off, her gaze falling to the floor. Amity wasn't quite sure of it, but she thought she saw the slightest bit of moisture in the corners of the other witch's eyes. Her gaze softened a little as she continued to witness the mean teen's uncharacteristic behavior. Luz picked up on it as well and started to wrack her brain to figure out why Boscha was getting so emotional about the subject. Something occurred to her and she quickly stepped over to her girlfriend's side.

"Oh, I know! You're talking about 'What if Boscha was kicked off the Grudgby team?' aren't you?"

"What?!" Boscha shouted. "Oh come on! That's going to be a thing too?! Why does that loser need to pick on me?!"

Luz shrugged. "I dunno."

"What are you talking about if it's not that one?" Amity asked.

Boscha hesitated again. "It's… 'What if Boscha became the least popular student at Hexside?'"

"Seriously?" Amity scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Of course you'd be concerned about something like that."

"Um, Amity? There's a bit more to it than that." Luz said, leaning closer to her girlfriend. "See, it's like this…"

She began whispering into Amity's ear, the feel of her breath tickling the witch a little and making her cheeks go pink. But as Luz provided Amity with spoilers, Amity's expression started to change. She gradually went from one of disdain towards Boscha to one of shock. A gasp escaped her and she looked at her girlfriend in disbelief. Luz simply nodded to assure Amity it was the case and Amity turned to Boscha with a newfound sympathy for the mean girl.

"I… I had no idea. Boscha, I'm sorry." Amity told her quietly.

"Save it, Blight. I didn't come here for your pity. I came here for your help putting a stop to it all! So for the last time, are you going to or not?!" Boscha demanded.

Amity slowly shook her head. "Again, I'm sorry, Boscha. But there's really nothing we can do."

"We really would help if we could." Luz added.

Boscha clenched her fists tightly, glaring at the other two in spite. "The both of you are useless!" She spat, heading to the door. After she opened it, she turned to face the couple again. "You know what? I've got an idea for a story! 'What if Luz and Amity broke up?!' or better… 'What if Amity didn't want to date Luz in the first place?!'"

She turned on her heel and stormed off. Once she had vanished from sight, Hooty let out a sigh of relief.

"Yeesh, I sure am glad she's gone. Talk about an attitude." He said. "You can tell she's single. That girl needs to get a date, am I right?"

"Honestly, I couldn't care less." Amity replied. "Now, would you mind, Hooty?"

"Oh right. You two still need to finish your thing." Hooty noted. "Sorry, I'll leave you to it now."

He closed the door, letting the girls return to their task. Luz sat back down on the couch, taking a moment to try and recall where they had left off before Boscha had shown up. Amity joined her, leaning over to whisper into her ear. After she had gotten her reminder, Luz's eyes lit up and she snapped her fingers.

"Oh yeah!" She said before clearing her throat. "As we were saying, there are so many new storylines that can be created with even the smallest change. There is practically limitless potential!"

"However, given that fact, it does mean that the author won't necessarily be able to get around to all of them." Amity explained. "At least not as soon as anyone would like."

"Which is why each idea will be presented as a sort of written preview." Luz added. "To give a taste of what it will be about."

"After each one, the author will provide some more detail about the story and eventually the readers will be allowed to vote on which ideas will be prioritized." Amity continued. "The author will provide additional rules regarding the process below. Please be sure to observe them."

"But don't worry. Anyone who is following the author can expect there to be other stories in the meantime. For now at least, this is just a side project."

Luz and Amity leaned against each other, their cheeks touching. They held each other's hands, lacing their fingers together.

"We hope that you like the new and fun ideas that are to come." They said in perfect sync. "Until then, take care and be kind to each other! Bye now!"

A/N: Hey there readers, The Overly Active Imagination here. As stated above, there are going to be some rules regarding my new collection and I trust you all will be courteous and follow them. I do plan to be firm on the rules, so apologies in advance if any should prove disappointing.

Rule 1) There are to be no requests. I already have numerous ideas and those will be more than enough to keep me occupied with this for a good, long while. Not to mention I don't take requests as it is, so it stands to reason I wouldn't be making exceptions here.

Rule 2) No suggestions regarding how things should proceed in any of the story ideas presented here. Most of them are already being planned out and some are already being outlined. Should any suggestions be sent to me by review or PM, they will be disregarded. Sorry in advance as I understand how rude that will be.

Rule 3) Once enough stories have been posted in this collection a poll will be announced. Only during the polls will any interest in the stories be taken into account. Any that occur after the polls have closed will not count.

Rule 4) As some of the ideas presented may end up being left untouched, there may be eventual adoption opportunities for some of them. It is difficult to say at this time how likely it will be that happens, but it will only be announced if I feel it is necessary and until I make that decision, please no asking to adopt them simply from a lack of interest. As time goes on and new polls are put up, some stories will get second chances to be prioritized.

Rule 5) There are going to be some things that will hopefully be very interesting to the readers in all of the stories, but I understand some may not be quite so appealing. Do not disrespect your fellow readers by giving them grief over liking anything depicted in the story ideas. The same goes for anyone who shares their dislike of the ideas, they are entitled to their opinions and should not be bothered for sharing them in the reviews.
