Being different from all the other Geass members due to his "genealogy" (if one could call it that), his very existence is a closely-guarded secret, known only to three people in the entire world: the Master of the Order, the Brittanian Emperor, and the dead Britannian Empress Consort. Who is now a spirit. Who also happens to be his direct superior. Yeah.
Now, he is summoned once more by his commander, and given his orders. "Yes, my lord? Why have you called me here?"
"Ah, Kaworu, make yourself at home!" The spectre within his mind said.
"Well, it is MY mind, so that won't be hard."
"Ah, you've learnt a lot from me, because it seems you've Inherited my wit!"
"How humble of you, my lord."
"Why thank you, I've been working on that! Anyways, I didn't Astral Project just to catch up. I have an assignment just for you!"
"Alright."
"You must infiltrate the Ashford Acadmg in Area 11."
"... Excuse me, my lord?"
If Kaworu's social skills were graded, he'd get a 0. Out of 100. This is because he's been isolated in a lab his whole life, and all his previous assignments were closer to long-distance investigations than field work.
"You heard me right. I think it'll do you some good."
"Uh-uh. And it's not about your son-in-hiding at all?"
"Well, you got me there. Still, you two could be friends!"
"And I suppose this is an order?"
"That's right! And orders are?"
"Meant to be obeyed, yes, I know."
"So, make sure to pick out a good disguise for this important mission."
"Yes, my lord."
"And hide your Geass."
"Yes, my lord." "And don't forget to eat your vegetables!"
"Yes, my lord."
"And bring Lelouch a-" "Will you shut up, my lord?"
"Fine, fine! Just go!"
In preparing for his mission, Kaworu consulted a fashion magazine from a nearby magazine stand. He had been stationed at a small military outpost in Arthuria, and charged by the Emperor with running it in secret. However, the Emperor made it clear that Marianne's wishes were to be followed, so what could a scientific abomination do?
Consulting the magazine, he picked out items that were considered "hip" and "totally in". Buying all the items with his Britannian Civil Servant slip, he walked out in a new, more daring get-up.
He called, first for the Emperor explaining his new mission, but he was only met by voice mail, and second for a private transport to Area 11. In 8 hours time, he would be there.
On the flight, he remembered that he had forgotten to acquire eye contacts and hair dye, and that he was landing right into the school, already approved for transfer.
He panicked. After a thorough 45 minute sit-down wherein 4 flight attendants convinced him he could play off his unusual features as albinism, he calmed down a bit.
Finally arriving at Ashford, he was introduced to the rest of the class. But apparently his name made him come off as an Eleven, and so no one wanted to speak with him. Yet this didn't deter him, for he had one mission: try to find out more about Lelouch vi Britannia, the not-really-dead Britannian Prince. Thus, he simply walked right up to him as Lelouch was reading a book.
"Hello, Lelouch."
"... Hello, Mr...?"
"It's Nagisa, Nagisa Kaworu."
Lelouch (thinking): "Yes, I knew that, Kaworu, I just didn't want you to know I knew that."
Kaworu (thinking): "If the apple is anywhere near the tree, then you know exactly who I am and might even have pegged me as a threat already, which means I'll need to be careful."
Kaworu: "I heard you were good at chess. Would you like to play some with me?"
Lelouch: "I don't see why not."
White, Kaworu. Black, Lelouch. They were in the midgame, and the sides were tied.
Lelouch (thinking): "I can't tell whether he's trying to win or not. 60%, he is, but if he isn't, then what's his aim? Certainly not mindless fun. I'm on the Student Council, and we happen to handle transfers, and anyone who could transfer to Ashford on such short notice probably has friends high above. Maybe he suspects I'm Zero? But then why play a game of chess with me and alert me to his presence? Does he really expect me to crack so easily? What a fool."
Kaworu (thinking): "He plays with confidence and clear skill, but also hesitance, almost like he doubts me. I don't know why, perhaps he's already singled me out as suspicious somehow? Well, won't matter. This isn't a chess game: it's the first in a series of personality tests. He can clearly win here, and he's smart enough to fake a loss, so is he going to go for the win? Faking a loss could be an attempt to get me to underestimate him, for him to appear weak. But winning means he doesn't estimate me very highly. So which is it, Lelouch?"
Lelouch moved his bishop.
Kaworu (thinking): "Would you look at that, he's going for the win..."
